Absolutely blown away by our first visit to Locavore! We’d heard glowing reviews from close friends, and they were absolutely right—this place is something special.
We went with the three-course dinner option ($48 for appetizer, entrée, and dessert— A great value, considering that some of the entrées were individually more than $40), and every single dish was a standout. I started with the cauliflower dish, which might be the most visually stunning plate I’ve ever been served in Fredericksburg. Bright green cauliflower, goat cheese, toasted almonds, and a bright purple berry sauce garnished with flavorful greens—it was as delicious as it was beautiful. For my entrée, I had the blackened rockfish, served crispy and perfectly cooked over spaghetti squash with green curry and Asian pear. Every flavor complemented the next. I didn’t finish it—generous portions!
Dessert was a coconut Panna cotta and also got to try the tiramisu that my mom ordered and the goat cheese, cheesecake that my husband got, everything was beautiful and light and delicious. Others at our table raved about the steak, the pork chop, and the soup.
I think they change their menu seasonally which is also fun and interesting which we don’t have a lot of Downtown.
The vegetables were pristine and thoughtfully plated, the wine and cocktails were on point, and the entire atmosphere was relaxed yet elevated. Best of all, the service was exceptional—knowledgeable, kind, and truly attentive.
This was a birthday dinner to remember, and I’m so proud to see a local Fredericksburg spot delivering at this level. Locavore is a gem. Go support them!
