We have been looking for an Italian restaurant to replace our regular nearby restaurant that recently closed. We may actually have helped put them out of business by mostly going there with a BOGOF coupon.
Speaking of coupons, we have regularly been getting them from Loccino's and since we go past it often and it is close to home, we decided to try it. Another point about coupons, read them very carefully. For Loccino's, it reads BOGOF (applies to entrees only, not pizza or appetizers) but only up to $9 and with two drink purchases.
We arrived and were immediately seated around 3:30pm on a Saturday. While we were checking the menu, our waiter brought us some Bread and a plate with Oil & Vinegar with shredded Parmesan for dipping. The Bread was good, the dip was OK but nothing special.
Salads came with our meals but they didn't have any honey mustard dressing, my wife's favorite, and there were somewhat limited options. I was fine because they had my usual Blue Cheese dressing and my wife settled on a Balsamic Vinaigrette. If you like lots of dressing, don't say anything, that's how it comes. If you are more particular, you may want to get Dressing on the side or ask for light on dressing.
For our first time here, we ordered standard Italian fare: Lasagna Bolognese for me and Eggplant Parmigiana with Angel Hair Pasta for my wife. Both were good but we have had better. The sauce was good, unlike some places where I eat mostly around the sauce; I ate the whole thing. Pre-grated Parmesan (I prefer freshly grated) was spooned over our meals. We both managed to eat the entire dish and could not even look at any desserts.
Staff polite & friendly from the time we were greeted and escorted to our seats, given menus, had our orders taken, drinks were kept full, and smiles and thanks as we left. All things considered I would say it was a good experience although a bit higher priced than we are used to. But I plan to keep looking...after a carb loading nap!
