I visited Java Ranch Coffee & Provisions on what is clearly their busiest night of the year — December 5th during the parade — and waited in line for at least 30 minutes. After finally placing my order and standing there waiting for my drink, I watched someone walk up, hand cash to the staff, and get served ahead of me even though he ordered several minutes after I did.
When I asked about it, the staff told me, “He’s a regular. He orders seven days a week.” That was their justification for letting someone skip the line and be served first.
I had just waited in line like everyone else and placed a large order myself, yet it apparently didn’t matter. Watching them prioritize someone who walked up and paid extra over customers who followed the process was incredibly disappointing.
If this is how they treat people — rewarding favoritism over fairness — I won’t be returning. There are plenty of coffee shops that value all customers, not just a select few.
Congratulations, Mark. The hat needs work, but we can fix that. Give us a call…
