Park Hill Gains an Ice Cream Shop, Cafe - Eater Denver

"Moru Specialty Coffee Roasters will soon be adding a coffee bar to their industrial roasting space at 1900 South Quince Street in southeast Denver. The new coffee bar will offer light snacks such as scones and muffins along with coffee, including cold brew. The bar is slated to open in early October and initially be open Monday through Friday before hopefully expanding to seven days a week." - Paul Albani-Burgio

Google
Easy 5 stars. Great coffee, knowledgeable barista who gave me some tips on home roasting. I ended up buying a bag of coffee to try to replicate it. Good music and seating inside with wifi.

Google
My regular quest to try as many coffee shops as I can when I travel led me to this jewel in Denver. It wasn't until I entered the shop that I realized that this was actually a roastery that happened to also have their own coffee shop at the same location, which got me even more excited, and boy they did not disappoint! I ordered a latte like I always do and this one was done perfectly. Rich and nutty aroma just the way I like it, perfect crema and perfectly foamed and temperatured milk! I was also lucky to have the owner of the place himself making my coffee and he was kind enough to tell me about where he gets his coffee beans. Great experience overall and highly recommended for those coffee lovers out there!

Google
This is an adorable little coffee shop. The atmosphere is amazing. Just wished they stayed open later than 2pm and I think $5+ for a drink is a bit pricey as a college student. But otherwise the coffee was amazing and vibes immaculate.

Google
Locus / Moru has been my go-to for several years now, both for beans and for drinks with pastries. Kenneth is a great guy, and the team behind the bar are friendly and helpful. They pull great shots and make creative drinks. The atmosphere is perfect for chats and getting some work done. You'll be surprised what you find in this tiny industrial corner of Denver.

Google
Excellent coffee shop. Super helpful employees, great service; the shop has impeccable vibes. Only thing I'd want to give it six stars (if I could) is if they stayed open a few more hours later into the day.

Google
Cheapest cappuccino I’ve had in Denver at $4.62 which is nice. Very quiet, clean and new feeling. The taste of the espresso wasn’t my favorite but that’s subjective. Could use some art on the walls for some more vibe. But I enjoyed writing here for an hour at 7am and would do again if I weren’t on a path of trying every coffee shop in the Denver metro area. Also very cool group spaces I assume you can rent here too.

Google
This is a smaller spot but it's pretty cute inside. The food was delicious. There were outlets next to every table. The chairs were comfy.

Google
I’m a regular at this coffee shop, visiting almost every weekend. I always order two single pour-overs—one for me and one for my husband—and it never disappoints. In my neighborhood, I’m certain this is the best coffee shop around. For your information, my coffee preference is simple—no sugar, no syrup, and no milk. I enjoy the pure taste of coffee. If you prefer Americanized, sugary, heavy coffee, this place might not be for you. But if you share my taste for pure coffee, this shop is perfect.

Yelp
This place is now called Locus, but I think it's the same inside. Came here to meet some friends this past week and it's a very cute spot, very unassuming in kind of an industrial area. But it has a big enough parking lot which is key in Denver. Their drinks seem more on the specialty side in the sense of 'regular coffee' is not much of an option, so I opted for an Americano. Coffee was good and strong but not super bitter. They save on trash by putting sugar, milk, etc into glass containers, which I always appreciate. And instead of stir sticks, they use silverware spoons, which is also a great choice instead of creating lots of trash. The staff was very friendly as we commiserated about politics a bit (he said he ran out of whiskey that morning ;) and the place was comfortable. We sat in the back corner, but there are a few tables and it's a nice quiet coffee shop to get some work done. Not great for any larger groups - all the seating is at the counter or tables, no couches here. Nice little spot to meet a friend or a client or work alone.

Yelp
Outstanding coffee, staff, service, and ambiance, and I'm very discerning of my Denver coffee bars! I even bought a package of their freshly roasted Decaf coffee for home brewing. I recommend LOCUS Coffee Bar without any reservations.

Yelp
Coffee was great. Barista was super snotty. If you are going to be an ahole, don't take a job where you have to be at work at 6am. No one needs that attitude.

Yelp
So glad I discovered this coffee shop. Coffee tastes amazing every time. Staff is also very kind and helpful!

Yelp
What a hidden gem! It's a smaller location but had ample seating and plenty of outlets for those looking to get work done on their computers. The ambiance was simple but modern and the baristas were both friendly and efficient with my oat milk matcha latte. I loved all the plants throughout the place and the tables were large so ow as able to fit my drink and laptop with no problem. It's only a 5min drive from me so I'll certainly be returning!

Yelp
LOVED this hidden coffee gem by my niece's new place in Denver. Highlights: - Housemade pumpkin spice: was the best latte I've ever had and it has ruined me for the run of the mill pumpkin coffee drinks you get elsewhere. It was not fake syrupy and tasted more like pumpkin pie. Such a rich depth of flavor and creamy with oat milk In an iced latte. Lowlights: - You would never find it unless you knew it was there. Hidden in an Industrial location side street. - I was visiting so am unable to get another until my next visit--and then it'll likely be out of season. :-( I'm not even a coffee drinker and can't wait til my next visit to enjoy another.

Yelp
We found this coffee shop purely by looking up coffee shops near our nail salon online, otherwise, I genuinely don't know how people know about this place because it is tucked away in the middle of nowhere. We ordered an iced chai and an iced mocha, which were both well priced and decent. This place is definitely an eco friendly option, our drinks were served in glass, and reusable metal straws were available for purchase. We then got the lemon poppy seed scone as well as the everything bagel turnover thing. The lemon poppy seed scone was okay, but the everything bagel turnover was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
I love this place. The people are nice, the atmosphere is great, and I enjoy stopping in for a cold brew or an iced latte. They also have a points system to earn rewards.

Yelp
Great vibes at this little coffee shop. It is a good place to work or study at. There is also quite a bit of space at the bar for people to work at. Coffee was delicious, and their baked goods sold out fast. It seems like a lot of regulars stop by here, and they all seem to know each other. Very cute spot!

Yelp
Best coffee in the city - staff is sooo pleasant and makes great recommendations for drinks, beans, roasting, etc. love it here.

Yelp
It sure was nice to be back at this hidden gem coffee shop right in my neighborhood. Frankly speaking, I had forgotten about this place for a long time. When I realized that, I felt compelled to visit them to pay my respects which was way overdue. Not that I remember them from the last time I was in a few years ago, I definitely felt that the store has had some improvements in its overall appearance and stuff they carry/offer. The lady behind the counter (once she was done with the call she was on) smiled and welcomed me saying, "Sorry about that!" Since I was intrigued by the delicious looking pastries at the ordering counter, I had to get me one of them to try. Caramel Apple Danish tantalized me to the core so that's what I got along with my favorite, cappuccino. The cappuccino was one of the best I've gotten in a while. I'm super precise about how it's made but the precision they created to make my cap was top notch. A little bitterness that comes from the espresso shot(s) and 2% milk were perfectly harmonized in the little cup. And the Caramel Apple Danish? This definitely stole my heart! Whether they order their pastries from a nearby bakery or they make them in the store, this is now the reason why I want to keep coming back to them on a regular basis. So Moru Coffee, please DON'T discontinue this item ever!

Yelp
Nice coffee shop, located in an area that is industrial and seemingly a bit out of place. But this coffee shop has found its place. They roast their beans there in the store, in the back. We had two lattes in the house, without milk, both were excellent, and came with great latte art. Recommended.

Yelp
I love this place. I often work out of here. It's chill and quiet. The coffee is delicious and they're real coffee nerds here. It's in an unassuming location, but MORU is special. Cheers to the baristas (and owner) who put up with me for hours on end :)

Yelp
such a cute place! i stopped here while walking on the cherry creek trail and got an iced vanilla latte and a slice of banana bread. the girl working was so sweet! the only negative i have to say about this is the location. it's a blink-and-you-miss-it spot, and it's right next to a recycle and trash dropoff so the area doesn't smell the nicest. overall i would definitely recommend coming here! i will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped here the other day for coffee after picking up an order at primal (right around the corner). Fairly quiet inside, two people weee working from the cafe; and the woman behind the counter was very friendly and greeted me right away. The location is in an industrial park and is pretty easy to find. I ordered a hazelnut latte (whole milk) iced - she made it pretty quickly. It was really good - and the hazelnut syrup tasted more natural (and very tasty)! Will definitely be back when in the area again!

Yelp
A sweet little hipster place in an industrial zone. Definitely not a Starbucks! I had a fancy pour over coffee, and it was good if not spectacular. My girlfriend had a latte that she really enjoyed. Check it out, the people are super nice!
google avatar

Jelena L.

Yelp
Best damn coffee I have ever had. The blueberry almond pastry was fantastic as well! Will be back!

Yelp
A friend ordered me a vanilla latte the other day and I was super impressed. Tasted great, and the prices are pretty decent! I came back to try it on my way to work today as I'd never been in! I didn't realize how close this place is to our office! They staff was so friendly and offered me up options as I explained my "usual drink from that other coffee chain"..so I got myself a hazelnut chocolate latte. Yum! I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
First of all, the coffee at MORU is excellent. I happened upon this place while my wife and I were experiencing shifting plans and decided that we needed a moment with some really good coffee. MORU delivered. The atmosphere of the place was inviting and comfortable, being cool, but lacking pretension. The service was fantastic, with helpful suggestions, which were not invasive, but came from knowledge mixed with passion. My wife's latte was perfectly crafted on the foundation of espresso which had been skillfully selected and perfectly roasted. I had a wonderful poor over of nicely structured coffee, which had tons of character and complexity backing a citrus forward composition. There was a lot going on in that cup, but much like the atmosphere of MORU, the coffee was real and offered itself without pretension or an overzealous, overbearing punch.

Yelp
We moved to Denver very recently and we're absolutely obsessed with this place. The coffee it's literally the best we've ever had. They're always nice and friendly, such a cute small place. Def recommend getting a bag of coffee for home, so many good options to choose from. 10/10 ! Our favorite thing about this place is how eco friendly everything is!! Their cups, spoons and all packing is meant to reduce plastic use

Connor B.

Yelp
Really good place that always has great coffe and treat me great. Very good some made syrups
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
What a cute little coffee shop tucked away in an industrial park! The staff was nice and they had a cool concept but my chai was one of the worst I've ever had; grainy with a weird aftertaste. Chai's are my go to when trying a new coffee shop so I feel like I know a thing or two, or at least what I like. Hopefully my friend enjoys her latte a lot more than I did my chai.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and follow the coffee signs off of Quebec and the smell of fresh roasted beans. Moru is a little hidden but once you find this welcoming coffee meca you will be a believer. I not only had a wonderful and flavorful espresso that needs zero additives but I also learned a great deal about local coffee roasters and bean importing. Moru is huge into connections with the coffee bean farms abroad and local co-roasting, bringing the art of coffee into a collaborative universe. I recommend getting your coffee for here and taking in the sights, smells, and smarts.

Yelp
Omg I have to say the pour over coffee I had here was one the most delicious tastes of coffee I have had in my LIFE. Yes. You read right. Super unassuming place too, no pretention, which coffee shops with this caliber coffee for some reason have. I appreciated the warehouse, off the beaten path location, friendliness of the staff, the owner seemed super chill (at least I think that was the owner, I over heard him talking about the food he had prepared for himself and his staff, telling them to eat! How sweet!) I will be back.
google avatar

Brenna C.

Yelp
Great hazelnut syrup and the coffee was good! Not a lot of seating and probably won't stay onsite there in the future, but the coffee is worth going back for.

Yelp
I used to get this coffee at the now defunct Sojourners and really loved it. I found out these guys opened up a small tasting room so I had to stop by, not to mention we just ran out of our own coffee so I needed to get a bag. I really like the coffee they offer but also Kenneth is so knowledgeable and passionate about coffee that it makes it fun to have a conversation with him because you'll learn so much. It's sort of like going to a brewery where the brewmaster gets into all the different types of beers. With Kenneth, he leads me to the right type of coffee based on what I tell him but he also gives me tips on how to best make my own at home. It makes sense - if you buy good coffee and spend a pretty penny on it you should probably know how to optimize its flavor when you brew it. In any case, this place is unique in that it feels like you have a more personalized experience in regards to coffee itself rather than having a place full of people mingling or working.
google avatar

MK K.

Yelp
Don't let the interesting location fool you, this place is a GEM!Went in after a little Saturday time at the office and had to pleasure of meeting Kenneth (one of the owners). You can tell he is super passionate about his coffee, but also his customers. Snagged a deliciously fresh banana bread and an oat-milk latte -- So yummy! I will definitely be making this a regular stop on my way to work.
google avatar

Kate D.

Yelp
Really delicious coffee You can easily tell that the owner of Moru is passionate about coffee.

Yelp
This coffee shop is hidden. Located off South Quebec and East Jewell, this little gem definitely feels out of place. It is surrounded by building materials supplier, auto part store, and recycling centre. This café serves very good coffee in an industrial setting. I ordered an iced latte (one size, 12 fl oz), and I was asked to choose between regular milk and nitro milk. Nitro milk! That was unheard of, for me. I know about nitro cold brew, but nitro milk? I chose to have nitro milk, and needless to say it really made my latte taste better! The interior is spacious and simple. The service is great. I find the coffee shop very welcoming. If you are an avid bicyclist, consider adding Moru to your list of bike stops. It is right by Cherry Creek Trail. Take the exit between Quebec and Illif, head to Jewell, and you will find Moru to your left on Quince.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hidden gem! This is right near the place I drop off recycling and compost. It is super cute. The coffee is so yummy and they have multiple alternative milks including oat milk. They are also social distancing, have masks, and provide hand sanitizer. I am adding this to a favorite weekend stop!

Anaam A.

Yelp
I'm love this place the coffee sooooooo good and the girls so friendly I go 5 times in one week really loved

Yelp
I drive past this place every time I go back to my house. I've also seen it recommended multiple times on Nextdoor. Finally I had the time to drop by the other day. I stopped in around 12:20pm and noticed the sign said they close at 12. I was about to turn around ,but a nice customer said to go on in and they wouldn't mind serving me. The barista was cleaning up, but immediately put everything down to serve me. He was nice and let me take my time on choosing what I'd want. I decided on a decaf vanilla latte which cost a little over $4 with the syrup and for an 8oz cup. The coffee is solid (for decaf). Really good ,smooth flavor and overall I was quite satisfied with the coffee. Usually it takes me a day or so to finish these drinks ,but I downed this in one sitting. It is in a very hidden area (turn right on jewell and pass the first intersection and turn right into the shopping center) ,but if you're a simple coffee lover, I'd recommend you drop by.

Madeline A.

Yelp
Great coffee shop! They made a good cold brew and you can see the roastery in the back.
google avatar

Felicia W.

Yelp
I drop off my recycling next door every 2-3 days and stumbled upon this place. Boy am I glad I did!!! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. Their coffee and baked goods are phenomenal as well. Beautiful and welcoming area to sit inside. Definitely will become a regular here.
google avatar

Melanie T.

Yelp
The space is very bright and different than any other coffee place I've been to. They roast their own coffee and you can view and go check it out in the back. Had the drip coffee which was very flavorful and bold. Simple menu for emphasis of quality of coffee/espresso. They do have flavorings if interested. Was welcomed and very accommodating, will be back!

Clyde S.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! This place is stuck in an industrial parkish place, not really anything nearby, but it is very civilized. They're very close to the cherry creek bike trail. The coffee is first rate, I think they're primarily roasters. Good scones. The two things I'd knock them for are hours and location. They close at noon. Oh, and they seem to be doing a good job with the social distancing and mask wearing, while still being friendly.

Trista C.

Yelp
This place is a little tucked away gem.Fantastic roaster/coffee shop that focuses on specialty coffees. They just opened in November so if you haven't stumbled across this shop you'll be happy when you do! Staff was very friendly as well :)

Reese S.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! Rolled over here to wait for my oil change to finish, and was so pleasantly surprised by this little spot hidden away in the back of an industrial complex. They brew their own chai, was kind enough to top me off when I was hanging outside in the cold morning air (per Denver COVID regulations), and had a killer chocolate croissant. 10/10 - and this is just hanging outside! They look like they have such a cute interior too. Support your local coffee roasters :-)

Alice W.

Yelp
I've been here three times this week already! This place is so cute and has great coffee. You can see into the back where they roast the coffee beans themselves and they do sell their own coffee beans. I haven't tried their pastries yet but they look excellent. I would highly recommend a trip here!!
google avatar

Lindsay A.

Yelp
Great beans! My new favorite espresso roast for sure.
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
MORU is a collection of some very yummy single origin beans, as well as some deliciously strong blends (Yankee Boy, Black Bear) .. thoughtfully roasted right in the heart of Denver. These guys love what they do, they cup each roast (every single time) and are willing to teach roasting techniques to newbies. Check 'em out!

John M.

Yelp
I came by looking for a good local roaster. The guys at the counter were super knowledgeable. They were willing to pull sample shots. Great tasting espresso blend.

Valida B.

Yelp
They roast their own coffee and have an incredible selection. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and excited to engage with their customers. I had an oat milk latte and it was one of the best I've tried in Denver. High quality all around. Highly recommend to anyone who is serious about their coffee.
