The Ultimate Guide to Puget Sound’s Best Cideries | Eater Seattle

"The flagship taproom offers an all-ages environment with 14 original hard ciders on tap that lean sweeter but remain well made, featuring flavors like dark cherry, honey pear, and vanilla bean plus seasonal and experimental blends such as mojito and lavender lemon. The space includes indoor seating and a covered, heated patio for fickle Pacific Northwest weather, a full food menu provided by next-door Under the Tower Beer, and plenty of family-focused programming including weekly trivia, bingo, live music, and themed nights like Cider & Salsa." - Meg van Huygen

NEW NEW NEW! New snacks, new games - fun times! They have pinball games now and it’s amazing. Of course the cider is lovely, rotating and fabulous. Heard there’s a pizza test kitchen happening, I had a slice and I’m into it. Don’t be deterred by the weird parking lot, you’ll have a good time.

Google
Visited the cider house and it did not disappoint! The cider flight was a flight of 6 and all 6 tastings were phenomenal. We will definitely be back. We love that it is dog friendly! 🍻 Biscuit gives it two paws up! 🐾

Google
The server/bartender tonight was top notch! She was amazing at explaining every cider and options available. Gave a well round of the property and where to go and hang out. Actually one of the best services I have experienced.

Google
Great drinks. Weird location behind the gig harbor inn, right along the highway. Nice little green space you can hang out in but since it's along the highway, it's pretty loud. Also a large inside area, with various arcade games and other.

Google
We first learned about Locust after visiting their taproom in Walla Walla. We come to Gig Harbor every year so were shocked to learn it was made here -- the location is definitely "off the beaten path" and hidden in the back of a hotel parking lot. There's a lot of lovely outdoor seating and yard games (ex: giant Connect 4), as well as downstairs indoor arcade seating. They have mario kart and other fun games to make it a great spot to pass time with friends. Bring your pups!

Google
Seemed like a nice place until they told us they don't accept vertical IDs. I guess being over 21 on a government issued license isn't good enough. What a waste of time. Seemed like a decent place until they refused to serve us.

Google
For a short time I've phased out of ciders. I like ciders but only at certain times. My buddy insisted on checking this place out. I found two ciders I really love there and the atmosphere is nice and chill. It's pup friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

Google
I didn't try the food but we went in because they had a build your own 6 pack so we could try a bunch of different flavors. The cider was so good and the price wasn't bad at all. I was worried at first the dark cherry lime would he bitter like others I've tried but it wasn't at all. And inside had different things for you to do if you sat to eat/drink like video games and board games which I thought was so fun. The staff was friendly and informative when we asked questions. I wish we lived in the area because I'd be a frequent.

Yelp
First time here on a lovely summer afternoon. It's a small indoor space, mostly taken up with the bar featuring taps of all their cider flavors. Very friendly and efficient bartender. If you choose a flight, you select six flavors, and they placed them on the board in the order of your written list for reference. Three of us split two flights and enjoyed discussing all the different flavors. Highlights were vanilla, honey pear, peach, watermelon, elder sage, and "Transfusion". Only one of the 12 that we all didn't care for - I won't name it, because it is probably someone else's favorite! We were in the shaded patio around the back, peaceful and could still hear the live music nearby. Will love to come again and try all the flavors!

Yelp
First of all, the people who work at Locust are so sweet and helpful. Don't know what you might like? No worries! They always give options, their thoughts on mixes and even a sample before they pour your glass. I have to say I have my favorites, can't say enough great things about Transfusion when it is on tap, along with Black Cherry and CinfulCran. My go to is always Juicy Peach and Vanilla (always on tap). Second, the food they have rolled out next door is AMAZING! Love the pizza and tots! I heard they might have cauliflower wings here soon?? So excited! They are super careful when a vegetarian orders as well and makes sure there is no cross contamination of meat. Thank You! Third, gotta love the trivia on Wednesday and the Bingo on some Fridays. Drag Bingo is a must for sure! Check out when they have live music as well that is always great. Especially if you can get a seat in the tree grove. Locust is a great spot to chill, have fun, hang in the arcade, eat, and most of all have a yummy drink while doing it!

Yelp
I am a Locust swarm member and it's the best! I'm bummed that the Tacoma location closed, but I did make my way to Gig Harbor and they are always friendly and have fantastic cider! Also, Nintendo inside and a nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy the sun.

Yelp
Locust Gig Harbor has set the bar high with a full arcade including pinball, classic arcade games and Mario Kart drivers. The unique and blended Cider flavors are second to none and the staff is incredible. Not a Cider person? Plenty of beer options are available. The outdoor area is so charming gives a wonderful seating option on warm weather days. Must visit for dates, family outings or just to grab a drink!

Yelp
Locust Cider has a special place In my heart for sure. The staff are always so welcoming and kind that it just makes this location feel like home. During our most recent visit, it was a semi warm summer day, where we ordered flights and sat in the outdoor area just next to 7 Seas. They have the corn hole (bean bag toss) game available and several table and chair sets that are shared between the two breweries. It nice and shady for a warm day or they have fire outs for those colder evenings. The cider here is one of my favs in the PNW. They mix very well to bring about even more flavors that the loads they have available. I highly recommend pairing the juicy peach with the vanilla bean for an explosively stellar flavor that will have you craving more.

Yelp
I love all of the locust locations but especially Gig Harbor's. It is so much fun to hang out at in the summertime and enjoy their games and outdoor tables. The cider flight is a must so you can try out a bunch of different flavors. I love the honey pear and the vanilla bean. The staff is so friendly and super helpful when it comes to first-timers and recommendations.

Yelp
The event aside - This Locust Cider seems like a nice little retreat in the area be it outside or inside. Appropriately located just outside of The Inn, hotel. It's right there, perfect if you're staying there if you want a quick a few sips without having to go far. Literally, just outside the front door Locust is like 200 ft. Away. This Locust Cider's staff were very friendly during the recent event here and gladly gave recommendations and samples. One staff even recommended mixing some ciders for additional flavor. The setting has a very new look. I was told this Locust recently took over another brewery and before that one there was another brewery so this building is built to be a brewery it seems. It's fairly spacious with a kind of intimate main floor, bench seating in the brewery room downstairs and more outdoor seating. They even have video games - an NES and SNES classic as well as some board games to play while you sip. I recommend the Honey pear or pineapple if you're like me and like sweet. But if you like more dry, the original crisp is a bet. Plenty of variety overall which is good.

Yelp
Purely based on the drinks, 4 stars. Try the honey pear and cold pressed apple if you have a sweet tooth. I was really impressed how refreshing the apple was. The watermelon was not a sweet as I was thinking (compared to the other 2) and it was a little tart...nonetheless delicious. Bartender was really sweet and nice

Yelp
Loved visiting this spot! Their cider flights are great because you can choose from their variety of flavors. They have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor with an overall laidback vibe. The bartender was friendly and provided valuable information when I was picking out my flavors. I loved that they offer growlers/cans for purchase & to take home too! Hope to visit again soon!

Yelp
Heck yeah, a Locust Cider in my neck of the woods! I'll be honest... I'm not a big cider fan; like at all. I've found a lot of ciders have a strong taste of iron, which just really isn't my thing. Other ciders are just too dang sweet and I can't have more than one. Locust Cider is the first place that I've found that does it just right! I was in to check out the space and am so excited to have this so close to me. They've got an awesome outdoor space too. Also a bonus: kid and dog-friendly! The indoor space is really cool. There's a small-ish seating area that's almost better described as a loft, because you can look over a big open space right into the production area. They also have a couple old Nintendo consoles in the same area! Since I'm not really sure what my favorite flavor of cider is, I went with a flight. Their flights are pretty solid - six pours at like four or five ounces each! I went with the watermelon, berry, vanilla bean, honey pear, blackberry, and imperial dry. There wasn't one that I didn't like, but my favorites were the vanilla bean and honey pear, hands down. The vanilla bean reminded me of a cream soda, but not as sweet. The honey pear tasted more like honey than anything else to me, but it was delicious! Great spot to come hang out with a significant other, friends, or family. Heck - I brought my laptop and took advantage of the free Wifi and got some work done, and that was a great setup, too! Excited for more summer days + nights spent with Locust Cider.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for yelp elite events and bought ciders a couple times as well. Whether you're here for the event or as a customer theyre always SOLID! Super helpful people in helping you guide your perfect flavor for enjoying it on the spot or to take home. Additionally love how they allow you to have samples before you choose a full glass to enjoy. I love this place and hope to hit all locations to visit some day!

Yelp
So many great things don't know where to begin! First off, this is my favorite cider company out in the local PNW area. This location is in the back behind some other commercial buildings, but let me tell you how perfect it is! Super cute outdoor seating area and music ( that wasn't too loud!) and the service was immaculate. Brittany was friendly, responsive, and also gave us fun mixing tips! Definitely recommend for a nice chill time!

Yelp
Came here for a yelp event and I had a flight tasting menu for 4 different ciders. I really liked the cold pressed apple and the mojito. The place is clean and the staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions also bonus they have classic Nintendo!

Yelp
What an amazing experience we had! First the staff were phenomenal, attentive while great at suggesting ciders or pairing of two flavors. They were very friendly to everyone and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Second, the flavors were awesome. Toss up of which combo was my favorite, the mojito with the pineapple or the pineapple with the heat. They had a great outdoor area set up as well as Nintendo set up inside. Such a fun experience for a hidden gem.

Yelp
Painfully expensive. On top of that my wife spilled an entire cider. The woman at the counter absolutely did not care, did not offer towels, or paper towels, or a new drink. Would've settled for some cleaning options and no new drink. The price points make no sense. Their lowest alcohol ciders cost $10, the imperial ciders cost $.60 less l. The "guest beer" are just a flat 9.95 for a 5% terrible beer. Just don't recommend.

Yelp
Good hidden gem in Gig Harbor. A nice place to grab drinks with family or friends that is a bit outside of the downtown busy hustle and bustle! They usually have a wide range of options and if you are curious about ciders, the staff is usually quite knowledgeable about everything. They can make recommendations on whether you like dryer or sweeter, or something in the middle. They usually have a good rotation of seasonal ciders as well. The outdoor patio can be fun in the spring and summer days when the weather is nice out. They also have another outside closed area. The inside is pretty small, but usually this place is not too busy, again because of its sneaky location! It is worth checking out, and if cider is not your jam, or is not your friend's jam, then there is a brewery next door as well, 7 Seas, so you have options. Gig Harbor definitely needs more spots like this to help break up the crowds on the weekends.

Yelp
Hello Locust! My taste buds are in heaven. Locust has a cider game focused on a light base infused with subtle flavor profiles. Nothing is overwhelming - you can always taste the underlying base of their original cider. Flavors vary from vanilla bean (solid) to a fuller imperial coconut pineapple (legit) and almost everything in between - you can find a cider which hits your palette. Come for the excellence in cider craftsmanship - stay for the inviting atmosphere - you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We recently became members because we love it here so much! Summers are better because of the additional outdoor seating, but always a good time with the best ciders in the PNW.

Yelp
Well, if you ever want to join a family-oriented business that caters to great cider lovers' tastes, then Locust Cider, Gig Harbor is the place to start! Yes...they don't serve food, only snacks...but you can bring in some great local favorites. Television, Video, and table games are available. In the evenings you can sit at tables downstairs on their work floor. Seating upstairs (entry) and outside is available. Tonight was a sensational new cider release In partnership with Cutter's Point Coffee Co. (roasted in Gig Harbor). Per volume, approximately 10% of their medium roast coffee is blended with the finest cider (s?). It will astound you. It was served cold with a donut hole (chocolate, powdered sugar, or glazed) along with a petite sampler bag of coffee. Kids got all the donuts they wanted (parental guidance recommended...or not). A 1-hour long event that satisfied and entertained everyone. Currently, open 7 days a week. Come on down. Members receive discounts and invitations to quarterly events (and maybe, more!).

Yelp
All of the ciders are yummy! We are now club members and go here pretty frequently! Our new date place! Try the cherry with the vanilla! And the lemonade and the limeaid. Maple is also a favorite of ours as well! But seriously they are all good! It's funny to mix the flavors up as well! Try it! And all you gf people this is the place to go!

Yelp
Britney and Locust Team! Thank you for a great time. Okay, here's the deal! Locust Cider @Gig Harbor brews their cider at location, so it's fresh, fresh , fresh!!! They are happy to mix ciders to concoct a customized cider that meets your palate. Your taste buds, your choice, no one will force you to drink and experience anything you don't wNt especially since it's going through your body;) Locust has old Nintendo games and other board games available for those that grew up in the 90's. My favorite cider was Chrimson Gold and the "Little pineapple tart thingy" (ask Britney). This place is tucked away front the main traffic so you kind of have to know you want to go here. There's a hotel next door where I imagine they get most of their customers from. Best of luck Locust!!!

Yelp
You ever been to a place where you thought, hmmm, I kinda wish I lived here? Well this place made me want to live in Tacoma! All of the ciders were great of course, but above all that, all the staff were fantastic and so friendly. The venue is very cool and feels like you are tucked away into nature. The music tonight was fantastic and everyone so friendly!

Kym C.

Yelp
The cider was delicious! Great environment. We sat inside with our dog.and enjoyed a flight of ciders and assortment of delicious sausages. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It's well worth visiting!

Yelp
I can't believe I've never been here! Being from Kitsap County, it's a short drive, and they now have seven seas brewery right next door! It's a Great spot, not a lot of parking, but friendly and nice fear, and so many different ciders to try! Highly recommended!

Debi F.

Yelp
Great service by Bre and the cider is great family enjoyed the location so thanks Eric!

Yelp
How convenient.. I took the shuttle from Sea-Tac to the Inn at Gig Harbor.. needing to wait an hour for friends to come.. very helpful and friendly gal at the counter suggested a flight of 4 ciders.. loved the berry blues and dark Cherry.. not too sweet I suggest they get an ice machine make ice to add to my water which I need to keep me sober and wash it all down

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for our first time and we absolutely loved it! We tried a flight of 6 ciders each and honestly loved every single flavor! (: The bartender, Brittney, was so kind and funny! She was awesome, I wanted her to just come sit down and drink with us lol! If you haven't been here yet, you MUST go! I am super excited for their patio and restaurant to open up as well (:
