Lodge at Marconi

Had an amazing stay, the area is a very beautiful combination of hotel and nature. With a mid 70s interior decor style in the lobby area and entrance. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable to the grounds, local spots, and activities. The rooms very clean and well maintained. The beds very very soft and comfortable, and warm for the chilly November nights. My favorite part was the complimentary on-tap sparking water, I must have fill refilled 100 times haha. Over all a peaceful relaxing stay.

Stayed in a king-bed room with a loft. Very clean, good looking room with thoughtful furnishing like the drawers under the loft staircase and a really comfortable bed in the loft. The soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioners, all in large containers with handpump, all felt luxurious with their herbal scents. ||Beautiful grounds. Very friendly and helpful management. And Mable's serves excellent food. The grilled trout was amazing!

I really wanted to love this place, as a frequent seeker of California coastal get-aways, and the location is special. But I didn't feel it was worth the price, which is on the high end. Maybe it was a one-off, but he lodge lacked an overall warmth. The rooms aren't all equal, in terms of size, quiet, views. Ask for what you want or you could end up feeling short-changed. The day we arrived check-ins were running late due to a cleaning issue. This happens. Wine and other treats were offered by the apologetic front desk, which was nice. But some staff seemed on edge, and a little cold. Maybe due to the stress, but disappointing. I'd try to it again, hoping for more bang for my buck. Note: Manager apologized. |Tip: As for the kind of room you want, such as with a view, or especially quiet, or light.

Lovely stay at lodge at marconi! We were delightly surprised with a room upgrade. The room was so cozy and quaint. Amenities were all great and the grounds were beautiful. Happy hour and brunch at Mable’s were both great. Would 100% return!

Each and every time I stay at this magical place I come home with a new understanding of life... literally every time, and I've stayed on three separate occasions. Most recently I took my partner for his birthday so we could revisit together the magic that is this lodge. From the drive to Marshall from San Francisco to the magical scenery both on property and locally, I feel transported to a place where worries melt away, lasting memories are made, and new discoveries are just one step away. My home decor changes each time we visit too, as the properties esthetic, charm and overall vibe inspire us to make home design dreams a reality. |This time we stayed in building three and the shower tile pushed our imagination into the bathroom remodel of our dreams becoming a reality very soon. We take pictures of the charming details and put them all in a wish book for remodeling and upgrading on our bay area 1920's home. I never want to leave and I always want to come back, I hope to have another encounter with this marvelous home away from home very soon. Plus visiting the local food and activities in and around is a must. This time we went to Point Reyes Lighthouse and saw humpback whales, and even discovered Kehoe Beach and its untouched beauty!!!

Though this “lodge” is in a beautiful state park setting, I can’t recommend the accommodations. Our room was next to the parking lot with constant noise. There was no A/C and opening a window meant everyone walking from the parking lot could look into our room (and bed). The room was very small, and the bathroom was a joke…with a 3 foot square shower you couldn’t move in and a toilet where you hit your elbow on the paper roll when sitting down. This was not a romantic, luxury stay. It reminded me of old college dorms. The grounds have uneven walkways that were not well lighted at night and to get to the first floor room you had to go up several steps. |Mabel’s for dining was just ok… not anything special. Stay at the Lodge at Bodega Bay for much better accommodations for the price.

We had a great stay at the Lodge at Marconi. The midcentury decor is beautiful and thoughtful down to the last detail. The protected land is so serene and the perfect launching point to explore Point Reyes, our favourite spot in California to date. We already want to come back. I was very surprised to read critical reviews. It seems that management has listened to feedback because we appreciated thoughtful details like filtered water at the lobby with refillable glass bottles, smores kits, ear plugs (though we did not experience any noise issues, perhaps because there was no room above ours) not to mention the kindest front desk staff and excellent housekeeping. There were a few small imperfections that didn’t affect our enjoyment of our stay at all, and that were more than acceptable given the reasonable price. The site’s history didn’t detract from our experience - in fact it got us reading and learning. Be prepared to pick up groceries in nearby Point Reyes Station as there is no breakfast served at the hotel and brunch is only available at Mabel’s on certain days. If you think of the Lodge at Marconi as a cabin stay in a state park for design aficionados rather than what you’d expect from a full service hotel in a city, you’re in for such a treat.

Loved staying here. Dawn was so kind and entertaining — we enjoyed talking to her. Not sure if other people were just bad vibes - but we had no bad experiences with any of the staff here. Beautiful grounds and rooms. Loved being at the fire pit at night. There were picnic benches with a place to shuck oysters overlooking Tomales bay. Peaceful - will return.

To start with, the location is out of this world. Woods of the most varied trees, some, enormous! We could see the bay from our window and very close. It's not a lodge for the technocrat--There was no tv and cell phone communication was somewhat sporadic, but if you go here to enjoy your life, your senses... few places could be more marvelous. The first night by the fire pit, a big, wonderful pit, I met an Englishman from Manchester among other people. The unit we had had all the comforts of an excellent place. The pastries I had were superb, not kidding. I'd go back just for the scones.

The Mrs. and I spent last night at the Lodge at Marconi which is located at the Marconi Conference Center and State Historic Park. We've been to Marshall numerous times but never stayed there. Honestly, I never thought about staying in Marshall to be honest. The Marconi Lodge has a little over 40 rooms so it isn't a large place like Asilomar in Pacific Grove. The entire state park encompasses a little over 60 acres. We arrived around 2 after enjoying lunch at the Marshall Store. Check in was quick and the front desk staff was friendly. They pointed out all the amenities offered at the lodge. Especially in the common areas which are beautiful. Still and sparking water are on tap in the lobby which was nice. If you need wine glasses you can just grab them off the shelf. Ice is available too along with free coffee in the morning. We were assigned room 207 which was a ground floor room with a king bed. The bed was very comfortable. The room was decorated in soothing earth tones that complemented the surroundings. There were plenty of electrical outlets and USB ports. Even USB-C which was nice. There is even a white noise machine. The bathroom was beautiful. I took a shower this morning and I felt like I was in a spa. There is no tv but the wifi worked really well. The view from 207 was pretty spectacular. There is a large window that looks out into the woods with Tamales Bay behind it. The common space outside was really nice. There is a communal gas fire pit which we took advantage of. Nature was all around us to the point where we saw deer and a fox while enjoying the fire. There is an onsite restaurant up the hill from the lodge called Mable's which I highly recommend. It offers incredible food, service, and a great bar. The grounds have a lot of trails that are easy for an amateur hiker to handle. There are a lot of other buildings on the grounds. Many of them are unoccupied. The place has a sorted and dark history. It was once home to a cult that forced women to shave their heads and men to have vasectomies. It was also a drug rehabilitation center. That said, I'm sure there is a lot of negative energy trapped within the grounds. One of the creepiest things was the old hotel that used to on the property. It's a large building that once housed the cult. Despite the history of the place I'd stay at the Marconi Lodge again in a heartbeat. It was a little slice of paradise.

The Lodge at Marconi is an absolute beauty. We have now stayed here 4-5 times and we love our visits. The property is gorgeous, featuring spectacular views... particularly from Tower Hill, located just a quick stroll from the lobby. There are also a variety of trails that loop around above Tomales Bay / amongst the trees. No worries if you are tired from a long day or just here to relax. We have always enjoyed the amenities and the quality of the rooms. The coffee / tea kettle station in each room is a nice touch, the beds are super comfortable & each room has robes for relaxing and a lantern for evening exploration or a trip to the communal gas powered fire pit. There is a new restaurant on property with indoor / outdoor seating + full bar. The food is a bit pricey, but flavorful and well worth the experience, especially since there is nothing else in this area / open in the evenings. Plan accordingly! There is also a small shop with local snacks, cheese, etc. The lobby coffee / ice situation has always been a bit lackluster, particularly during peak hours. We have received a latte w/ curdled milk with no offer to refund or open a new jug. The ice maker is extremely small and they can only offer one tiny bag at a time. The complimentary coffee carafe runs out extremely fast, I waited about an hour for coffee on this last visit due to the multiple groups waiting in the lobby ahead of me. All in all these are minor complaints and I believe the ownership is still figuring some things out. I highly recommend making a stop at Marshall Store for lunch as part of your visit to this area, the food is insanely good and this is how we originally found the Lodge. We can't wait to be back soon!

The rooms are on the small side for what you pay. The service at check-in was not very friendly. On the plus side, the grounds are lovely. Our room had a partial view of Tomales Bay. The fire pit is nice. Deer roamed the trails. The Synanon history is interesting.

They canceled my reservation without warning even though I had booked way in advance and paid in advance. Offered hollow apologies and didn't even offer to rebook. Read the reviews of this place: their attitude is dismissive; they don't care about paying customers.

Lovely accommodations...quiet and beautiful surroundings. Would have given 5 stars but would like to have a TV in the room. They advertise that they leave them out so guests will appreciate the natural surroundings but I feel like that should be the guests choice. After about 9, we have a had a full day exploring and it would have been nice to watch a little TV before turning in.

Beware: the attitude of the staff at this hotel needs a lot of work. Read through some of the reviews and you will see a familiar pattern. I am surprised that ownership hasn't addressed this. I just checked out today and I experienced the same. 3/2/2025. I was in reception and overhead the general manager telling another guest that their sauna isn't working (for some reason they were telling everyone this while I was there--it was working fine). I chimed in that the sauna is in fact working and had used it myself the prior day. She replied: well IM THE GENERAL MANAGER, that's great you used it but I need to speak with the director of facilities before you can use it so it will be in the afternoon. The guest was checking out that morning and clearly disappointed. Then I asked to see if they could extend my checkout by 1 hour to 12:00pm ( I already knew the answer given how rude she was to me already). She replied: no, no late check outs today. Anything else? I was shocked at how rude she was. I have never experienced this before at any hotel. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that we left shortly thereafter. If you do decide to stay here be warned. I also suggest you ask for a refund on the amenity fee they charge if the only amenity that they offer is broken.

The lodge itself is a significant improvement compared to before it was taken over by Nashville-based Oliver Hospitality. That said: * Front desk service is just okay. It's not especially warm or inviting, and feels more transactional--like you're simply a paying customer rather than a guest meant to be delighted. * Timing matters. It's best to visit when there isn't a wedding or large corporate event. Management prioritizes those groups (understandably), which can mean closing the restaurant for private dinners or putting individual guests second. Large groups also tend to bring late-night noise. * Sustainability claims fall short. While the lobby highlights "eco-friendly" efforts, the reality is different: they serve drinks in so-called recyclable cups that are lined with polyethylene (making them non-recyclable) and lids that are too small and light to ever get recycled in practice. Meanwhile, they keep a fireplace burning in the lobby all day and run the sauna at full heat continuously--hardly consistent with true sustainability. * Grounds underutilized. Several areas remain undeveloped despite years of claims about new amenities being "in the works." A thoughtfully designed spa would be an excellent use of the space and provide real added value for guests. * Limited local insight. As a Nashville-based operator, Oliver Hospitality doesn't seem especially attuned to the preferences of local or regional visitors. * Value for price. For what they charge, a comparable property in the North Bay would typically offer more: complimentary happy hours with wine, cheese, and crackers, as well as free buffet breakfasts (for example, Gaige House Inn in Glen Ellen). We also noted in advance that our stay was for our anniversary, yet there was no acknowledgement--something as simple as a handwritten card and two small chocolates would have gone a long way toward making the experience feel personal and memorable. All that said, we genuinely enjoy the location and will keep coming back--but we'll be more selective about when we visit and will adjust our expectations accordingly.

Knowing my fondness for local seafood and fresh farmed oysters my wife surprised me by booking a weekend getaway to the Tomales Bay Area a few hours from where we live. She read some great reviews about the Lodge at Marconi. She mentioned the Lodge has WiFi but no TV service since they encourage guests to enjoy the tranquil environment they promote. This sounded like the getaway we were looking for. The Lodge grounds were indeed beautiful. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the king size bed was very comfortable. Our daughter was joining us so our room had a loft with a twin sized bed and a small sitting area. The bathroom was small but serviceable. There was an electric teapot with coffee provided in teabag form. The first full day at the Lodge was indeed tranquil and relaxing. In the evening they had a fire pit and comfortable seating. It was a great space to enjoy a glass of wine and mingle with other guests. Unfortunately the next 2 days were not as pleasant as that first day. A family with at least 3 small children under 8 checked in to the room 2 doors down the hallway from us. Being parents ourselves we understand how loud children play and at times, fight with their siblings. At one point we were aware they were screaming at each other while running back and forth down the shared hallway. My wife finally looked out into the hallway and the children appeared unsupervised. Thinking this was an isolated incident we chose to ignore this break in tranquility. Unfortunately it continued on during the day and night for the remainder of our stay. On our last day there the children were yelling and screaming running down the hall at 7:30 am. My wife saw what she assumed was their mother and asked her to quiet her children. The children were told to go outside so they ended up screaming and fighting outside of our room window. My wife mentioned it to the front desk upon checkout. The front desk attendant apologized said she would report it to the manager. She also suggested we contact the manager directly. What started off as the relaxing weekend was lessened by inconsiderate parents. While we would consider staying at The Lodge at Marconi we will never forget our first impression.

Our stay, and interactions with staff, were pleasant until our last day. At that point the room we were staying in had a maintenance issue. Alex, the manager, displayed a complete disregard for their customers by hanging up the phone when we reiterated that we were not satisfied with his lackluster solution. Do yourself a favor and find lodging elsewhere.

Well. I'm here right now in a room that's $350/night and I can hear every footstep and conversation of the people in the room next door. So the super thin walls are making for the opposite of a peaceful time and make an expensive room feel like a cheap motel. So that's a bummer. Don't expect that. For the half the piece ok. But not for this. Addition: it's now the next morning and house cleaning is banging around loudly next door. Not a peaceful morning. Bad coffee. Bring your own. The grounds are nice. Room is fine.

My organization booked a retreat at the Lodge at Marconi and we had a wonderful experience. The folks we worked with, Lea at the Lodge and Ashleigh in sales, were exceptionally helpful. We had some last-minute changes and they were wonderfully responsive. And the staff worked hard to make sure all our needs were met. The site is incredible, a remote-feeling hideaway right on the coast of Tomales Bay surrounded by land and trees and space. The rooms were surprisingly comfortable and modern. The meeting space was good too, and there are numerous outdoor gathering places as well. The restaurant is about to open and looks lovely. There are also tons of games and board games available. There are two great restaurants within under a mile to eat oysters and seafood. And Point Reyes (with lots of great stuff to eat and do) is a 15m drive. We would absolutely come back to do another retreat, and I would personally come back with family or friends.

An absolute hidden gem. Our family was so happy to be immersed in the peaceful surroundings of the lodge while evacuated from the fires. We adore the reusable water bottle and self serve filtered water and sparkling - what a treat. Rooms had very thoughtful touches and surrounding eateries are excellent. Thank you Marconi and staff!

The hotel was acquaint, beautiful location around a lot of wildlife. The fireplace was beautiful, the hotel was clean. Staff was friendly.

Our one room was reserved for 4, for a girls trip but we were put into 2 separate rooms because of no power, "natural disaster"? No call or email updating us in advance about the swap.The 2 rooms with King beds were small but nicely decorated, mid century modern. No instructions on how to dial main desk? No WiFi info in the room? Because of the rain, we had an ant invasion. Rooms were warm but also stuffy. All in all beautiful location and decent beds. On site restaurant is closed Sundays. A few options within 10-15 minute drive. A good option if you want a secluded stay close to the Bay.

The venue was nice. Clean room nice with amenities. The loft with bed would've been better utilized as a sitting area. The staff was friendly except one member was a little condescending, but maybe that was just his personality. Mabels's restaurant on the other hand was a big disappointment. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was nice, but the menu was very limited, and wildly over priced for the portions received. I could recommend the lodge but would not recommend the restaurant.

This is a very special place that is only getting better. We love Point Reyes & Tomales Bay, it's the perfect day trip from SF, but outside of getting an airBnB, there aren't great hotel options. The Marconi property is 15 mins from Pt Reyes and a very short drive from all the oyster shacks and seafood restaurants (Marshall Store), making it ideally situated. The work that's been so far on restoring this historic property is outstanding and there is so much more coming. If you've been to Carmel Valley Ranch or Ojai Valley Inn with your family, you know how special those places are - they're places traditions are formed. The Lodge at Marconi will be on that list soon.

It is such a beautiful place. Like a little paradise. It's shame they've decided to fill it with noise and pollution all day, like vacationing in a construction site. The morning started off so lovely with a run along the trail. But by breakfast time, they had booted up the gas powered leaf blowers, and the noise filled the property for the rest of the day. The lodge is in a forest -- there are lots of leaves -- and they spend the whole day blowing around those leaves with deafening gas powered equipment, torturing their guests and polluting the air. Why?? I asked about this at the front desk, and they said they "have to". But actually, they don't have to. They could let the leaves lie where they are (good for the soil) and/or use electric equipment (since the sale of gas powered equipment has now been banned in CA). But no, they run this noxious gas powered equipment all day. If you want somewhere quiet and peaceful, I would not come here.

What a great place to spend a nice night when visiting Tomales Bay Lodge at Marconi is a landmark originally built in 1914 as a radio receiving station by Gudlielmo Marconi the inventor of radio. The lodge has beautiful sites of the Tomales Bay and the Marin coastline. The accommodations were very pleasant, and the lodge staff were fantastic to interact with. However, my only criticism is that the noise from neighboring rooms could be heard clearly in my room due to the thin walls. It was a delight staying overnight and would do it again when passing through.

It's a lovely natural spot, within marconi park, nested in pine trees. Quite foggy and cold though, even in late July. I see that others had complaints about the staff, and I would tend to agree. Not the most welcoming or pleasant. I was not offered 'smores until I noticed others being offered and had to ask. (We were all standing at the front desk at the same time so this was no oversight.) The layout of the structures is odd. We had one of the more expensive rooms, with 2 double beds, very spacious, but the room did not have a patio or balcony as some of the smaller, less expensive rooms did. It was odd not to be able to sit out to have coffee and enjoy the vistas (I'm sure they would say you can use the common areas on the property, but it would be nice to have one attached to the room, given how much you pay.). All in all, I would probably stay somewhere else next time, maybe at Olema House (same price range), Nice's cove, or in Inverness which is more convenient to Pt Reyes National Seashore. The restaurant on site, Mable's, is not bad but very pricey. Better options in Pt. Reyes Station.

The cost of staying at this "lodge" is absolutely not congruent with the product or customer service. The front desk staff have obviously not been trained in standard hospitality procedures and protocols. We stayed there last night. Things go wrong at hotels- myself and my family I feel like are pretty mellow in that regard. Life happens. But When you are paying $475 for one night for two queen beds-we expect the product to correlate with pricing-it definitely did not. We checked in and were told something "happened" to our room and yay we were being upgraded (he made sure to tell us in a whisper "to the room they usually charge for $1200". Having our two teenagers in tow, while the "upgraded" cabin had a pretty view, there was only one bed and a couch pullout. That is not worth $475. The couch was not made up into bed nor were proper sheets or pillows provided. When requested from Dawn at front desk, we were told "there is no housekeeping staff to do that", I requested if someone could bring fitted sheets for the 3 inch in width pullout mattress and she said all sheets were the same and then she continued to patronizingly explain to me how "back of house" hotels operate in terms of linens, she doesn't know this room, and I wouldn't know this and "oh you were upgraded"....no we were NOT upgraded, someone fucked up and the cabin I reserved MONTHS in advance with two queens and one twin was not available. The lack of professionalism was baffling. Some linens were sent but we asked for three pillows and one was sent-this cabin was down road from regular hotel so not a skip and a jump. My husband plugged in regular phone charger next to bed, the electricity all went out upstairs but good lord not going to ask from desk. The food was limited-bring your own food, it's scarce and very expensive. The waitstaff is not professionally trained-at all. Particularly when you are paying $57 per plate-and $27 for a small cheese board-the waitress never told us what cheeses or jams she was serving. We ordered our $57 steak and sausage plate and another entree. They had never brought us utensils after our salads and we had to ask for utensils after plates were dropped. No one checking despite there being THREE servers. The last icing on the cake is Jessica this morning getting our coffee orders which we have to pay $5.00 each for. My daughter asked if there had iced coffees and Jessica laughed at her. I asked Jessica if they had Stevia and she tells me and my husband "nope". Nothing else, just nope. Oh and the only complimentary food options for breakfast-I kid you not-were rotten bananas and stale apples. These comments I realize sounds privileged as fuck and while I realize there are bigger things happening in the world-we work really hard and wanted ti have a nice family getaway-we have stayed in lots of hotels on all spectrums of cost and I have worked in hospitality industry. They need to get it together in terms of their operations and staff training or this hotel will fail. I wish I could recommend-the grounds are gorgeous there-but without competent staff, and operational direction-think the quality of guests stays will be inconsistent and unpredictable and poor quality.

One of a kind location. Beautiful grounds, well appointed rooms. Great service. Understand their restaurant will be opening soon.

I was blessed with a wonderful trip to the Lodge at Marconi for New Years Eve with Family and it is beautiful and super cool. Will definitely return someday and the food at Mabels is AMAZING!!

We just had a magical family weekend at the newly remodeled Marconi filled with hikes around the property, hilltop yoga, and bonfire s'mores. We had one rainy evening and the lodge was a fun place to do movies & popcorn for the kids and wine & puzzles for the grown ups. It's the perfect location for a quick getaway from San Francisco (don't forget to do an oyster lunch at Marshall Store around the corner too)! The beds were super comfortable and Marconi team was so hospitable - we can't wait to go back!

This place is breathtaking! What a beautiful property, location and details. The comfiest bed. The outdoor fireplace was a great place to unwind and meet others after some beautiful hiking and exploring. The trails on property were also great! Water views everywhere. Someone had a wedding a few days prior up on a grassy meadow at the higher part of the property and then there was a lower meadow space that an enclosed tent held the reception- it looked like such a magical space for that kind of event. All in all I highly recommend checking this place out for the best access to the beauty of Point Reyes. We saw the Cypress Tree Tunnel, Chimney Rock area and went on the Sky Trail. Lodge At Marconi was perfect in between all that exploring!

We had the best weekend here with family and friends. I can't recommend Marconi Lodge highly enough! Design aesthetics felt chic, intentional and elevated, but not stuffy (we had a 3 year old and 1 year old in tow, and was comfortable). The thoughtful details make it so special, from the charming "scavenger hunt" map and colored pencil kits at reception, to the unique swivel lamp above the loft bed (which blew my 3-year old's mind, by the way! She loved having her own little space!). Yoga on tower hill Sunday morning was a dreamy start to the day, and the friendly, knowledgable staff made us feel super welcome. The fire pits and puzzles in the lodge paired well with wine for hanging out with the other parents in our group after kiddo bedtime. Already planning our next trip back - with friends, or for a work offsite!

I was blown away by the newly renovated Lodge at Marconi! It's conveniently located in West Marin, just north of Point Reyes, and situated in a historic state park with incredible walking trails throughout the property. We had such a great stay, that we can't wait to return! Thank you to the Marconi team for the amazing stay and fantastic service!

We love being near the water at Marconi in West Marin. We've been going for years and the recent renovation at the hotel is AMAZING. The rooms are fresh, clean with just the right amount of vintage packed in. The lobby pantry that has snacks and lunch items for sale and at night they light the fire pit. We took a stroll through the woods, picked up a few dozen oysters at Tamales Bay Oyster Company for lunch and had dinner at Tony's across the street. Recommended for families and groups.
