Loft18, A Boozy New Virtual Golf Bar, Debuts This Summer at Sawyer Yards - Eater Houston

"Loft18, a new destination for drinking beer and playing simulated golf, will soon open its doors at the Sawyer Yards development. A permit application filed with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission indicates that Loft18 is set to open its doors at 2313 Edwards Street in the Sawyer Yards development in the coming months. Speculation about the bar’s arrival first arose back in November, when Swamplot spotted renderings of the Sawyer Yards property that included the space that Loft18 will occupy, but the TABC filings confirm its official address. It’ll be the second location for Loft18, which just debuted its first outpost in Metairie, Louisiana in 2017. A website created for the Houston outpost of Loft18 indicates that it will offer patrons the ability to rent stalls with giant, 4K video screens placed in front of them. The golf simulator apparently allows players to virtually try their hand at 95 different golf courses by hitting an actual ball toward the screen. The screens can also be used to show sporting events or other live television. As far as the food is concerned, no menu has been released for the Houston location just yet, but if the Metairie menu is any indication, diners can look forward to a menu of standard pub fare, including loaded nachos, burgers, sandwiches, sliders, and desserts. Beer, wine, and cocktails will also be on offer. At Sawyer Yards, Loft18 joins a continually-growing slate of restaurants, including Poitin, Pokeology, and the forthcoming new home of Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company. The development will also be home to a new restaurant from beleaguered chef Paul Qui, who just shuttered his first Houston restaurant Aqui. Per Houston Chronicle critic Alison Cook, he’s planning to open a “smaller, more focused” spot alongside former Aqui chef Jillian Bartolome at some point in 2019. No official opening date has been set for Loft18 just yet, but expect it to debut this summer." - Amy McCarthy

Google
First time here. We get there at 11 with reservation but can't get help until 1120 with the system. Wont detect the ball. She apologizes for the delay but can only offer an extra 5 min because we tried to make it work and didn't get her until 1120 to explain. To be clear, we asked for help when we arrived because it was our first time. She stated she would be back, but she got tied up with technical issues. We asked the waitress for help.but she stated we had to wait for the hostess because she was the only one that knew how to use the system. It was fun. But you need to know how to work the system. Would come back, now that we know how.

Ive always passed by and been wantimg to vome here for awhile. I came here with My Daughter after 7 and they made an exception. I am so thankful/grateful they did because the food, drinks and vibe is amazing. We played cornhole and Jenga on the patio while listening to good music. I highly recommend everyone to stop by and give this place a try.

Google
Popped in without a reservation to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. There were pool tables, golf simulators and a deck. The staff was friendly and professional. The food was amazing. Usually bar food is average at best but they took their time to cook and season the food! Good drinks. Not watered down but not too heavy. Everyone was just chilling having a good time. I recommend reserving the golf simulators ahead of time. We'll definitely be back here!

If you’re looking for a place that is perfect for any type of event. You will not be disappointed with Loft 18. We searched many locations for our recent team building outing and Loft 18 was the perfect location and, best choice. Their staff was attentive, the manager Olivia was beyond helpful and friendly, and the event manager Heather was top tier, from start to finish she made sure our event ran smoothly and stress free. I highly recommend Loft18!

Google
Loft 18 is hands-down one of my favorite spots in town! What really sets Loft 18 apart is the service. The staff is consistently friendly, attentive, and they genuinely make you feel welcome every time you walk in. Fausti served me and made me feel welcome. If you're hosting a big watch party, Loft 18 nails the vibe.

Google
This is a golf bay bar and is a sports bar and this is the Houston meet up Detroit Lions bar and so we met on a playoff game (unfortunate outcome), and is a really cool concept and I would go again if the opportunity for a social night out. However, the food selection for vegetarian options is slim to none. The drinks for non-drinkers are slim as well. For the sports watching and social aspect, it felt small and seating is really limited with the audience trying to hold for events and the service was long and it felt they were short as a couple servers, overwhelmed.

Google
A fun place to hang out. Can pre-book a bay (highly recommend for peak hours). We booked 2 hours, play golf simulator (Pebble Beach), soccer penalty kicks, zombie dodgeball, baseball and more. Many games to pick from. Venue is not too crowded on a Friday night. Comfortable booth, easy conversation. Nice vibes. Great services. Bar food is good too. Will come back :) P.S. Because this is a many-games-in-one-bay, bay has to be open and flexible; there is no automatic golf ball feeding mechanism nor rough turf/green mat nor adjustable golf ball pin holder. While not the perfect setting for golf aficionado wanting a simulator course game, it is a fun venue for parties.

Google
i work next door ive never been here js buy the food here. its always so buss 🙂‍↕️ all the ladies r extremely nice!! might have to tell my husband to come with me sometime even though i dont play golf lol.

Yelp
Cool little sportsbar in Sawyer Yards area Thriving in the heart of Houston's historic First Ward and Arts district. They have 5 full swing golf and multisport simulators available.Pool tables are $10 an hour and over 20 games beyond full swing like darts baseball and basketball.
google avatar

Yelp
Not too far from where I stay and wanted some wings so I stopped by. Pretty slow for a Saturday afternoon but aim not complaining because I was able to gran a seat and order immediately. Ordered wings with buffalo sauce on the side with fries. The wings could've had more seasoning on them and the fries were over seasoned. The bartenders were very attentive but not over bearing. Small bar area but they have several lanes to play indoor golf and about 6 pool tables. The ambiance is very chill. They also have outdoor seating. I probably wouldn't come back for food but maybe to play some pool.

Yelp
My crew and I are always looking for new activities to do in town other than just eating and drinking. We like to incorporate some physical activity as well whenever possible. Well, Loft18 combines all the things we like to do. This spot is located in the Heights area and has plenty of parking. Reservations are recommended if you want a bay to play, but walk-ins are also accepted. I interacted with staff at the bar while waiting for staff as well as the person who took care of us while we were in a bay. Customer service was good other than having some long waits between drinks and food even though the place wasn't too busy yet. So Loft18 is basically a sports bar with interactive golf simulation bays as well. You can also just dine and drink because they have tables as well as a patio. By rates vary depending on what day and time you come. My friends and I did a random weekday afternoon which is about 20 bucks and hour which is a killer deal to me. You can fit up to 10 people per bay. If it isn't busy, I would suggest getting multiple bays so everyone gets a good amount of playing time. The golf simulation is better than playing Golden Tee. From what I experienced, it was very accurate and life like without being in the elements. If golf isn't your thing, you can play a variety of other games as well like soccer, basketball, dodgeball and quite a few other options. They also serve food and drinks here. I started off with a cocktail which was nicely made and tasty. Once I got into competition mode, I switched to beer. They have good options for both. During our time, so of our group got different food items. The nachos and flatbread stood out to me and everyone enjoyed them. No one else had any complaints on their mains. Overall, Loft18 is a very fun place and I would highly recommend it for group outings. I also think its a great team building type environment as well. I will be back!

Yelp
Love this bar. Been here a couple times in the last few weeks and it's awesome. I came here with my girlfriend a few days ago and we played some virtual golf, ate some apps, and had some awesome drinks. It was a great time. Food was amazing too. The service was fantastic too. The servers and bartenders were really cool. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for an event. They had buffet of salad, pulled pork sandwiches, pasta, mashed potatoes, and chips with cheese and salsa. The place had lots of entertainment: virtual games (not just golf - football, soccer, darts, carnival games), shuffleboard, and pool tables. They have Jenga blocks on the tables of the front porch. The zombie dodgeball game was tiring because the zombies refused to die! The staff was friendly and helpful on showing us how the virtual games work. We'll definitely come back.

Yelp
Just love it! -- an awesome place to vibe with great music selection, eat surprisingly awesome food at a "sports bar," AND practice your golf shot! The hubs and I love it here, and never miss a chance to bring out of town guests. The staff is friendly and super helpful. There are TVs everywhere for game watching, and the staff is awesome and will change stations if by chance they're missing one. And if you know me, you know I love a good photo op, and the possibilities are endless here! As for food, the oozy burger is hubs' guilty pleasure, and it's the classic burger for me! I love the brisket/beef blend they have for their burger patties. The quesadillas are tasty, the Nashville hot sliders, the beignet fries (I always ask for extra powdered sugar as they go light and I need MOOOORE!), the chips and queso-- THE EVERYTHING! Truly, you can go wrong. I LOVE IT HERE!

Yelp
This was a fun bar/activity to visit whether you live in Houston or are just in town visiting. They have a bar area and plenty of seating throughout so it is a great place to grab a drink or some food while you're watching a game. We went on a Sunday and apparently they are a Detroit Lions bar so there were a bunch of Lions fans who were there watching the game. We only ordered the queso and some beers which were both good, but I don't know how much I can speak on the food or drinks there otherwise. We walked in without a reservation and we were able to get a simulator in about 15 minutes. The simulators were very nice and there is a good amount of seating around each bay. The simulators are definitely made for golf so I would not go with the expectation that all of the other activities are as good. They did not have a way to hit the baseballs so we had to throw the ball to each other and the sensor for the football and dodgeball activities did not feel very accurate.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty solid place for a work or group happy hour. Food is decent. Bar has a nice selection. They have six golf simulator but you can also place soccer, football and other games beyond golf. We were there on a Wednesday and pool was free. The folk that work at Loft18 are pretty friendly. Does not seem like they have many parking constraints.

Yelp
Let's playyyyyyy!! Shout out to Ellllllllie! The best Event Manager! One of the organizations that I am a member of decided that Loft 18 would be the perfect place for our Networking Happy Hour. Loft 18 didn't disappoint. We had 3 Bays, Catered Food, and Bar Drinks! Parking: It is in a shared lot. However, due to recent breakins, this establishment has done quite a bit of due diligence to put signage up warning guests not to leave valuables in their vehicles. Food: We ordered catering. Our guests had Spinach & Artichoke Dip (Soooooo yummy and cheesy) with chips, Southwest Eggrolls (Super Delish), Chicken Strips, French Fries! They were all a hit! Service: We had a least 3 Tables Hosts for our party size. They were courteous and so super nice! The Games: After the Planning Committee started playing the games like Target Golf, Baseball, Zombie Dodgeball (my favorite of all the games... FYI, for some reason "the house always won... lol" this game was super HARD but fun, Carnival Games, etc.). The team at Loft18 were great to work with. Try em out!

Yelp
Had a reservation here with my family. The screen in our bay was broken - needed a staff person to change the program. The service was inconsistent, we had a challenging time getting our waitress to come over and the bar didn't seem to want to step in for the waitstaff, for some reason. The food was bland. Would not return!
google avatar

Anahi B.

Yelp
Work down the street from here always wanted to try but didn't get the chance till today! One of the servers came by my work place and I asked her for recommendations and she kindly gave some great recommendations. Went in and the server took my order ( Chicken Nachos and Chicken Quesadillas) I honestly didn't expect to get full from these 2 dishes but I was surprised by the servings! Everything was so good and the customer service was awesome. Will be going back to try more!

Aaron R.

Yelp
"This is a great place to chill with buddies, however, the service is terrible and they rarely answer the phone even Management in Louisiana shared the same experience."
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
To get the best bang for your buck, I highly recommend checking out Groupon for any available deals on booking a dock. After all, who doesn't love a sweet bargain? That being said, it seems like specialty game bars are becoming quite the trend in many cities, so the novelty factor may have slightly worn off. Unfortunately, the golf simulator it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The lag was real, my friends. Fortunately, there were other options like soccer to keep us entertained. We managed to exhaust all the available options within 90 minutes. Plus, it's worth mentioning that they have other games like giant Jenga to keep the fun going. I must give credit where it's due--the staff were attentive and friendly throughout our time there. They gave us a solid run through of how the simulation works and how to navigate through the games. The drinks and food were solid and I can see myself returning just to kick back, enjoy the huge screens, and enjoy some food. I think I'll opt for a round of Topgolf instead of a golf simulator next time. But hey, it all depends on how toasty it's going to be outside! If you're in the mood for a fun outing and don't mind some technical hiccups, LOFT18 might just hit the spot.

Yelp
Had Austin as a waiter provided great service , made sure we were taken care of and constantly checking if we were having fun, would definitely recommend asking him for his preference because what can I say the man has great taste I had the chicken wrap and it was absolutely delicious, would definitely come here again as it's a welcoming environment!! Thank you Austin for the A++ experience!!

Yelp
Went here with a decent size group, and found the staff super friendly and accommodating. Plenty of space, but also have areas to be in small groups. Would come back for sure to play some VR games.

Yelp
Really enjoyed myself here. What's not to like. Golf, drinks, food and pretty waitresses! Had a great time. Keep it up

Yelp
I had lunch here last week to check it out. Loft18 is located on the corner of Edwards and Sawyer with plenty of parking available. Inside it consists of a bar and large main room (think sports bar decor) for dining and drinks and then several 3-sided bays on the sides of the main room where you can play video golf. Each bay has enough room to swing your clubs (or you can rent theirs) and hit the ball against a fabric video screen that simulates the flight of the ball and where it lands next on the golf hole that you are playing. When I arrived during the lunch hour, the facility was mostly empty with maybe 10 customers at the time (a 3 some playing golf and the others just eating). This review is for the food only as I did not play golf. I ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo entree that came with a side salad for $15. Arriving less than 5 minutes later was the salad. It had fresh greens, cheese, tomatoes and croutons and was very good. It was better than average for a side salad. About 15 minutes after ordering the entree arrived. Sliced grilled chicken over a bed of fusilla pasta with Alfredo sauce and Parmesan cheese. It was a decent amount of food and it tasted good too. I wish the food was warmer though. It wasn't cold but should have been warmer. My table service was very good. I believe the primary purpose coming here is to play golf with friends while eating and drinking. Think Top Golf but indoors. From watching the golf system, I'm not sure that I'm interested but then I didn't play so I could be wrong. Regarding the food, it was all acceptable but not to the level that I would come back to eat unless it was to play golf or watch friends play golf and that's why I give a 3 score overall.
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
Best chicken wings in town, and a great place for a party with screens for playing golf courses, basketball, etc.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
Went with my coworkers party of 7; reserved a simulator stall for 2 hours on a Tuesday. $25 an hour. The drinks and appetizers were great! Entrees were ok. Chicken, lamb chops and shrimp were really salty. They definitely make sure they let you know when you have 15 mins left on your gaming reservation and promptly announce when your time is up -- awkward. Kinda felt rushed. Also our simulator did not work that well. Tried the basketball, soccer and dodgeball simulator games -- all really glitchy. Cool place. I will probably come back for just drinks and appetizers.
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
I only stopped in to get fries to go but this seemed like a pretty cool place. It was basically dead when I walked in around 1pm on a Sunday. They've got several golf bays and a couple instagram-able walls. The fries were nice and fresh and a huge portion to only be a side. There appeared to only be 2 people working, but they were kind.
google avatar

Marcus R.

Yelp
This place was a lot fun for an indoor simulation golf course. Not perfect for the range when hitting the ball but it was still fun. The food and drink selection was perfect. Loaded nachos were delicious and the buffalo wings were on point! The sample platter was great too! You can you bring your own clubs if have them or rent some where. When we came when they had a singer who did basically did karaoke full time. She was really good too and kept the audience going. I definitely recommend this place to hang out with friends and family.
google avatar

Kenetra C.

Yelp
Visited with a group of friends and let's just say...a time was had!!! Perfect for game night or a group outting. Great food and drinks!!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Ro is awesome! Very attentive and helpful! The food is amazing! There is plenty of space to host a party or large group. The wait staff, Alyssa and Sam, are awesome and attentive as well. Jimmy the bartender, my man is on point! We can't not mention Kat, the greatest digital dj ever!
google avatar

Jooy C.

Yelp
Love the concept and great place for a casual hang out! The Monday & Tuesday night special ($50 for 2 hours) is a GREAT deal for any group over 3 people. The golf simulation involves real golf clubs and balls, which you swing into a screen and they spit out a bunch of stats for you (not a golf expert so I had no idea what they meant, but seemed legit). There were several different games and settings you could play with the simulation. Equipment is provided by the venue but you can also bring your own. There's also happy hour! The quesadillas were not on the happy hour menu but I was really impressed with them - lots of pepper and flavor going on there. Covid precautions: the servers wore masks and started sanitizing as soon as our time was up. It was not crowded at all on a Monday evening, so I felt safe being in a private section with my group. The bathroom has a sign that says only one person at a time, but I'm not quite sure how/if this was being monitored. Overall I really enjoyed my time here! Weekend rates are pretty pricey but definitely worth checking out during a weekday.

Cindy T.

Yelp
$70 per hour to play games, which is quite pricey. The equipment such as baseball, baseball bat, soccer ball, etc. were all torn up. If that's what your place is all about, update your equipment. Service was good so I'm giving it a two stars.
google avatar

Diane K.

Yelp
Amazing time at LOFT18! It was our first time here and the service was top notch! Our server Samantha and the lovely bartender Veronica made our night! The food was great along with the playlist. And of course, you can't forget the games! I thought they only offered golf but to my surprise they offer baseball, football, dodgeball, basketball, carnival games, and more!

Armando B.

Yelp
Pretty cool place to eat and drink if you like bar food. 5 bays to practice your golfing skills as well as other games. Manager or whoever was in charge at the time could be a little more welcoming in my opinion, other than that it's 4/5.
google avatar

Graham G.

Yelp
Hands down the best burger I've had in Houston. Great environment and they always have an Astros game on if it's playing. Great place to watch and drink, eat and play games.
google avatar

Marissa F.

Yelp
Loved the food. Got the Nashville chicken sandwich and it was great. Vibe was cool. Only odd thing was I was charged more than what I had signed off on after the tip. Left a message regarding the overcharge and never heard back...very unprofessional. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
google avatar

Earl A.

Yelp
I've been here a few times with a couple of my friends we usually sit out on a patio as we smoke cigars. Inside there are several different games that you can play virtually. There was basketball, baseball, golf, hockey etc. We played golf once or twice there and was even football that we tried very cool. There is a pretty good food menu and they do have a open bar for drinks I will definitely be returning

Justin T.

Yelp
Great family atmosphere and Taysia was great!!! Love coming here and will definitely will come back.
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
We were in area the scoping out the art galleries. We walked in Loft 18 not knowing what it was about. For some reason, we missed the huge golf sign. Anyway, the washroom sign explains what they are about. Thought it was a great concept. We sat at the bar and had rocks and fire, a jalapeno drink, which was really good. We ate shrimp skewers, a healthy app. Service was great. Looking forward to
google avatar

Tim J.

Yelp
Could this be a thing, take a video game technology, and mix that with booz and physical activity but indoors? So Houston is a place where u could be outdoors all year round, there is no monsoon or snow storms to force anyone inside. Which brings up the why a place like this exists. Is there so much stimulus checks being cashed from covid, excess wealth in the economy? Like why would anyone spend the money here vs on a real golf course or a range outdoors? I guess the biggest knock against this type of setup is that "it has no reason to exist in Houston" As someone that owns a home golf simulator, this is weird. Its topgolf minus the part where you get to be outdoors. Its cool setup, but i just dont get the attraction of it.

Neffra M.

Yelp
Terrible service. But great potential. I give it a 2 out of 10. The wait staff never provided us service for time we were there, but serviced other sections around us. Smh

Gaby O.

Yelp
Such a good place to eat & hangout! Austin was a major help at suggesting what to eat & what drinks were the best for my preference :) the staff was super friendly, outgoing environment & food was great & did not take long to be prepared! definitely will be coming more often!!!

Jossue D.

Yelp
They have great service!! ask for julia ! fun environment and good drinks. had lots if fun!!!

Yelp
I've loved coming to Loft18 for a long time, but tonight with Jenna was the best. She was attentive and also supported the mid-90s playlist

Kevin C.

Yelp
Very cool experience!! Great for beginners or skilled players. The food and service were great

Yelp
I came here for the first time on Valentine's Day. I went again, with a group of friends, last week. It's a whole lot of fun. I think this place is mostly known for its virtual golfing, but you can also play football, basketball, and my favorite, a zombie dodgeball-ish game. Wear your fitness watch if you play the zombie game. You'll be moving around a lot, and your heart rate will go up. Lol. If you're waiting on an area to play, they have plenty of tables you can sit at to eat and drink during your wait. They also have table games like tic tac toe. There's a nice lounge area where they hold karaoke on Wednesday nights. Love! On my first visit, I ordered the chicken nachos and wasn't a fan, because the chicken was cold and cubed. I expected warm, shredded chicken. When I went back last Wednesday, someone else ordered them, and her chicken was hot, and she loved them. The Brussels sprouts are really good, and the drinks are as well. I had a great time during both of my visits. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Yvette C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed hanging out at Loft18! Great atmosphere, fun games, tasty food and drinks! Highly recommend

Steven G.

Yelp
Hit this spot up on a Sunday evening with some buds for a Fantasy Football Draft and brewskis. The beer selection and specials were decent, though I was a tad sad that Rocket Fuel was tapped out. The shot pours were generous to put it lightly (Green Teas and Vegas Bombs were on point). The appetizers we had, fried cheese balls and spinach/artichoke dip, were tasty and big enough to let 4-5 people snack on. I personally opted for a chicken Caesar salad after to look after my cheerleader figure . The manager "Roe" was amazing the entire experience through, making sure we were never looking for our next drink. She recommended the blackened chicken for the salad, which was perfectly prepared. We didn't get a chance to jump on the virtual golf or soccer though it looked pretty fun and I will mention, you're able to bring your own clubs to swing with which I thought was awesome. Roe hooked us up with 50% off coupons to try it on our next visit, which I will definitely take advantage of on my next visit.
google avatar

Penny O.

Yelp
Went to Loft 18 for my son-in-laws birthday. Golf simulator, football toss and more were pretty cool. We spent a fun few hours! Appetizers were all delicious! Lots of drink options for everyone! The servers were friendly and attentive. Overall a fun afternoon!

Scott H.

Yelp
Nice location and very good service. I like the concept of playing a variety of games while eating and drinking. I didn't like the music choice. The music choice was full of cussing including the F word and the N word. Not appropriate for a family venue. We mentioned to the server at the end. She was nice about it.
google avatar

Nestor G.

Yelp
They turned away a large party all because the manager wanted to stomp her foot and tell us that "she called and left multiple voicemails" over a reservation. Apparently the reservation was handled by Taylor who no longer works there. But that's beside the point. The manager lost business of a large party of about 35 people on a slow Saturday afternoon because she wanted to keep reminding us that "she called and left multiple voicemails" about our reservation.
google avatar

Audri G.

Yelp
Rochelle (manager) was AWESOME! Greeted us immediately- explained how Loft18 works and was EXCEPTIONAL throughout our stay. Not only that - the ENTIRE staff was great - but that shows the management at this place! Highly recommend for a team/work outing or just a fun get away during the week for some great food and fun!
google avatar

Jenn S.

Yelp
Man. So much to say but I'll keep it short. Basically they mismanaged our reservation which led to an ENTIRE PARTY BUS of people showing up, only to be turned away. They literally rejected thousands of dollars while simultaneously creating a terrible customer experience. Be better, Loft18.
google avatar

Miao M.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday afternoon while there was a special event for virtual golfing. You can play virtual golf and football (American) here. Huge screen in the middle top of the venue. Bartenders were very nice. The manager (Reggae?) was getting off his shift and made time to speak with us. Made us feel very welcomed. There was a grey goose promotion and drinks were made into a pouch. Quite unique.

Yelp
Loft 18 Really cool concept here! It's a fun and trendy bar with a lively vibe. The service is great and friendly, the main room is open, cohesive and inviting. The main dining area is in the center of the room, the bays are on both side of it and there is a cozy more intimate lounge area at the very back with a bunch of board games to choose from. The main attraction is the digital golf of course, we couldn't play tonight bc it was all booked but we noticed they have different settings for games and they even have replicas of all the golf courses in the world! I guess this is a pretty cool feature for golf lovers. There's also a patio with plenty of seating and more games like bag toss, shuffleboard and jenga. Food and drinks: I had the Loft-Tini pretty balanced and tasty not overly sweet (I love that) and we shared the Southern fried chicken sandwich with fries. So good! No need for Popeyes long lines (or fights) I approve! the chicken is juicy and flavorful and the fries! mm mm.. My husband ate the cole slaw and he approves as well. So go, Eat Drink Golf!
