Chefs Graham Elliot and Felipe Armenta Review the Best State Fair of Texas Food | Eater Dallas

"Now run by her daughters, Christi Erpillo and Johanna McKee, Fernie’s Funnel Cakes is a decades‑old fairstand that leans into Americana and family story — Elliot loved the name and the backstory about their mother Fernie — and delivers a classic, simple dish done very well. The cherries are tart, the crust leans almost into cobbler territory with salted butter, and the sweet‑and‑salty balance impressed; Armenta called it a classic and appreciated its straightforwardness." - Courtney E. Smith

OMG this cake is so good even after waiting over 45 min in line at silverbullet. What was left after my 9 year old and Wife saved was amazing. The ice cream was smooth and delicious, but he funnel cake itself was still crispy and delicious. The boysenberry on top was so freaking good. This is a must try when to get the Knott’s.

The funnel cake was cooked very well and the toppings were what you’d expect. Nothing fantastic or something I haven’t had before. It’s a good go to if you’d like a nice treat!

Hello everyone. I highly recommend Lucy's Kit Kat Fingers Funnel Cake. This is a big portion, and can easily be shared with two or three people. Don't forget to get the napkins, and utensils. Thank you for reading my review. Please follow me on Google maps and check out the places I visit.

I finally decided to try a funnel cake at Knotts the other day. It was myself, my sister, my daughter, and my niece. We decided to get 2 to share. My daughter and I got strawberry and boysenberry and my sister and niece got apples. We decided not to get the ice cream. With our annual pass discount they came to $11.41 each. They were horrible! They were so hard that we couldn’t even cut them with the plastic knives from the counter. When we were able to get a bite it was so hard it was like chewing on rocks! We took them back and asked for new ones as it were inedible. We were given new ones. New ones were barely any better. We tried to eat them but the only part that was edible was where the sauce was.The boysenberry sauce was good as was the apple. my daughter didn’t care for the strawberries at all. After trying to make the best of a bad situation we decided this is ridiculous we paid close to $24 for an awful food and decided to ask for our money back. We went to the window and waited for a manager and were told since we didn’t have a receipt and we had eaten more than 50% of our funnel cakes We couldn’t get a refund. The cashier didn’t give us receipts. I did however show them the charge on my credit card on my smart phone however this wasn’t good enough for the manager Jazmine. This was unacceptable to me and she said she would call her supervisor. She returned to the window after a few minutes and said her supervisor said we couldn’t get a refund without a receipt. Note we did not eat 50% of the funnel cakes. I’ve said I’d like to speak to the supervisor. So than the supervisor, who she had had to “call” on the phone came to the window in a minute. Her name was Michelle . She basically said we were lying when we said we were not given receipts. We were told in a very rude way that all of our employees give receipts. I told her we were not given receipts why would I make that up. I could see were not going to get anywhere with these two people as they acted like this money was coming directly out of their pocket. So we went to guest services. We waited in line and explained our situation to the woman at the counter and she called somebody from food services. We waited about 10 minutes for her to arrive. She said she couldn’t give us a refund with out a receipt she would allow us to get food somewhere else and we thought that was a good compromise however after she couldn’t get them on the phone to authorize it she came back after about 10 minutes and said she would refund our money. I’ve never had to do this at Knotts before and the reason I pursued it was the attitude of the two management personnel at the funnel cake house was completely wrong! Not one person said I’m sorry this happened. What Jazmine told us was this is the way were taught to make them. Apparently that’s to make them where they’re so hard you can’t eat them. I will never have a funnel cake at Knott’s Berry farm again and I recommend you stay away as well. It took us about an hour to get this resolved so we did ask for line passes for one ride and we did get it. Thank you guest relations.

Delicious. Nothing better. I wish they had seating with tables nearby that aren't taken by another restaurant. And it would be nice if they gave you a wet nap or something, because you always wind up with sticky goo all over your hands. But boysenberry funnel cakes are a highlight. You haven't gone to Knott's until you've had a funnel cake.

The funnel cake and ice cream was good but the strawberries were weird tasting. They were not fresh strawberries with syrup but strange looking strawberries in looked like pureed strawberries. It is strawberry season. I guess that what I get for not getting the ever popular boysenberry. Next time boysenberry.
