D.C. Restaurateur Heads to James Beard House for ‘Food Network Star’ Reunion | Eater DC

"I saw Washington City Paper report that Logan Tavern owner David Winer is embroiled in a lawsuit brought by an Uber driver who blames one of Winer's employees for a poor rating; the driver is seeking $1,200 in damages, a court date is set for Friday, February 23, and both parties say they have video evidence." - Tierney Plumb

The staff was so great! I got the $5 bacon cheeseburger deal, and it was one of the best in Spokane. Brittany and Chris were so great! Best spot in Spokane. Hazy was hazy 🥲

Came in with three friends before the Gonzaga game. We arrived at 5pm for an 7pm game and were surprised to find they were pretty much full already. I think we got the last table available luckily! We were greeted quickly with waters and made our drink orders quickly as well. I believe everyone at my table was pleased with the timely and friendly service. Wes was great and funny! The food came out surprisingly fast given how busy they were and we were basically the last table to be seated. The atmosphere is cool, with a pool table and other bar games, as well as 7-8 TVs to watch sports. I noticed they have weekly events like trivia too. Overall, we had a great experience! The fried chicken sandwich was as good as advertised! Great spot overall! Thank you Logan Tavern!

Google
I live in bend, or and every time im in the area Logan is a non negotiable stop for lunch. Awesome atmosphere, super friendly staff and lights out food. Cannot recommend high enough. Worth every mile to get here!!

Google
Absolutely love this place! The food is always on point, service is always friendly, and there’s always an affordable food/beer option. I’m a big fan of the specials the chefs regularly put out, and love that they’ll come out and ask how the food is. We’ve had some amazing afternoons listening to music and vibing with the bartenders. It’s also my favorite place to watch a nascar race when I can.

Google
Normally our go to place to eat and enjoy drinks. The staff is always friendly and the food is amazing! Perfect hang out spot with games, pool table and music all the time!

Google
Logan Tavern is hands down one of the best spots in the GU district. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome right away and they were very accommodating to any needs or requests that I had. The food? Solid. Everything I’ve tried has been flavorful, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. It’s the kind of place you can come back to again and again, whether you’re grabbing dinner with friends specifically before a basketball game or just want a chill spot to unwind. Highly recommend if you’re in the area! Miriah S

Google
I used to really rely on Logan to be a solid place. Sadly, something has changed in the last year or two. They don't seem like they're cleaning the two lines as often because beers I know taste a bit off. And the food, which used to be great bar food is just kind of meh. They make changes every six months or so and it doesn't seem to be for better. It's a shame as I used to love their chicken sandwich but it's been very hot or miss on that and the veggie burger is a bit of a mess to eat now. I definitely consider many other places before here now.

Google
Brunch Avocado toast with no greens: delicious combination of ingredients and the over-easy eggs were cooked just right. French toast: tasted good but were somewhat soggy. We want to go back and try lunch or dinner.

Paul B.

Yelp
Logan's! Still my favorite garlic fry's! No one else comes close! The staff is always helpful and friendly and easy to work with! The beer is cold, fresh, and the aloha quesadilla was great!! Dam good job!! Many thanks!

Yelp
We came for a friend's birthday brunch, but also to watch the Zags game. They have $3 mimosas for brunch, which of course we started with a few of those. They have a few different juice flavors to choose from. Orange, pineapple, grapefruit and cranberry. The whole table ordered something different. I tried the French toast with berry purée, it was okay, it seemed dry even though it had syrup. A friend had the chicken sandwich and praised it, unfortunately I didn't get to try that . They do have delicious sweet potato tots. And their garlic fries had an abundance of garlic which is all I look for in garlic fries. I ordered the brisket hash with a side of hollandaise sauce. It was good. There was plenty of brisket, and big chunks of it as well. I do wish that there was more seasoning, on the brisket and the overall dish. I think if the brisket itself was more juicy it would add a lot more flavor to the dish itself. Another friend ordered the Logan's Benny. I found the price to be over priced for only one egg Benny, and it did not come with any sides of potato's. So make sure you order a side . The place started getting really busy because of the zags game. But the whole vibe was a fun time. Our server was on top of evrything, bringing us drinks when needed. We were there for quite a while, and enjoyed our time. Overall I would say Logan's is great for a drink and handhelds , breakfast has room for improvement. Also a fun place to watch the game.

Yelp
Service slow. Only one bartender/server when we were there. Food was good.. good hangover type of food. Great location for college kids to hang. Ambiance is dive bar restaurant setting.

Yelp
Our service was great, really easy for us to use our gift certificate. I had a black and blue burger, it looked a little busy but everything came together really well, probably the candied bacon. I also ordered Mac and cheese with the brisket. The Mac was peppery and had real cheese, I liked that it didn't have a "sitting all day" texture to it. Brisket was good too. We came in the middle of a weekday, so it was pretty quiet which is what we wanted. Much nicer inside than I was expecting. I'm sure we'll return.

Theo W.

Yelp
A single star feels too generous for this place. The staff, specifically the woman who served me, was unbelievably unprofessional. Her unnecessary attitude over my identification was completely out of line and made me question if she'd ever received proper training. It's truly shocking to pay their absurd prices only to be met with such disrespectful and incompetent service. You'd be better off going literally anywhere else.

Yelp
Super fricken weird. We go to Logan's all the time. They close at 2, yet on weekdays they close early if there isn't business, which I understand, coming from another server/bartender. However... 10:00 at night, your hours show you close at 2:00am. We walk in even with the lights low, given we see at least 4-5 people at the bar, and the bar tender instantly says "We're closed guy, If you couldn't tell. " Following with a laugh. Excuse me?? Wow. Yeah saying "Hey guys sorry we're closed" would have been fine, but the comment after and the laugh from the bartender and the people at the bar? Is the bar tender "closing" but inviting their friends? Kinda crazy. Jack n Dan's could and would never be rude to their customers like that. Go to Jack n Dan's since they also don't close early like Logan's. Never been so blatantly given disrespect ! Kinda funny! Hope that guy has a better day!

Yelp
Fun neighborhood bar near Gonzaga on Hamilton. My husband and I like try all the local neighborhood spots. This did not disappoint. We didn't want a big meal/sandwich, so we ordered from the small bites menu. He ordered Zak Burger and I ordered the Chicken Little Sammi. I found my favorite chicken sandwich! Small fried chicken breast with fry sauce and pickles. Perfection! My husband said his burger was delicious and he wished he could get his burgers to taste this good. You can't go wrong with the seasoned fries and several sauces to choose from. We will be going back. I would love to try the brunch.

Yelp
Pretty Solid place for Spokane. We like to try local spots and I had read alot about Logan's having pretty good food, so we stopped by for a weekend Lunch. Not too full a few patrons at the bar and a table. So bar tender was doing all the work. It has a bit of a divey bar feel, you could see it filling up on the weekend with college kids. Booths are huge but seats are totally worn out. Think of everything being worn out and faint smell of lite beer throughout the joint. We ordered chicken sandwiches and some soda, but they did seem to have a good tap selection and cocktails. Not going to find mixology and fresh cocktail and juices, but suspect more prefab mixer fair. My Pepsi glass is one of those hard plastics. The lip was so worn and washed that it was rough and little pieces of plastic were coming off. So that is a bit of a turn off. The food was better than expected. Chicken sandwich was hot and very crispy. I had nashville hot, but it was more like maybe some sauce on top of the chicken vs dipped in hot sauce. It was very mild and honestly I don't even think I would identify it as hot or nashville. But it was a good chicken sandwich. Fries were hot and crisp and the fry sauce was 5 star good. Order a second cup of that. Overall a place I would go back to for sure. Just needs some love, updated trim and booths. And Jesus order some new plastic glasses.

Yelp
This is a fun college neighborhood bar with really above average food. This is my second time, and it did not disappoint. Yes, it gets loud in here. Especially after work or during a game. But that's to be expected and part of the charm. It's spacious with booths, tables, and a bar area with seating as well. Lots of TVs and a pool table. The wood style floors are clean, and the wooden bar is cozy. But I'm here to tell you about the food. This is pub fare at its best. My herbivore meal was nothing but perfect. It's an actual old school, made in-house veggie burger. The kind that oozes out the bun with every bit. And it has a delicious brioche bun to boot. It's loaded with goodness. From the cheese to the guacamole. And that's fresh avocado, not some crappy spread. No store bought burgers here. It's just the real deal. I think it's the best veggie burger in town. Yes, I said the best. The fries are so yummy and crispy and seasoned so perfectly. You can get burgers, chicken, wraps, mac n cheese, salads, nachos, and so much more. You'll enjoy the drinks too. They have a full bar and something for everyone. They make a fun Gin Gimlet, which is a lovely classic cocktail. They have local beers and others. You'll find something for sure. If you're looking for pub food with actual flex, then stop by. Staff will treat you right. Support a fun local place while you're at it.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken strips they came out over cooked like black and dry. Worst chicken I have ever had. Lots of better choices around. Save your money.

Daniel D.

Yelp
Love the food and atmosphere. The service is great. Unfortunately on my trip on Saturday evening I contracted food poisoning while I was eating at their restaurant. Will need to be weary of their service in the future.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Everything was under seasoned. The brisket hash didn't have any flavor at all, the potatoes in it tasted only of old fryer oil, the hollandaise was flavorless as well. The fries were limp and undercooked. Anything fried seemed like it was sitting out for a while. The burger was average.

Yelp
GET THE BLOODY MARY!!! Yummm! Came here with a couple friends cause we heard the Bloody Mary is one of the things that puts this place on the map! Needless to say, they aren't lying! Probably one of top 5s now! The food was also very good, though I only tried bites from my friends plates. I am definitely planning a trip back to have a full lunch experience.
google avatar

Yelp
The amount of times I've passed this place on the way to the store or to the other bars in the area is too numerous to count. I always knew I could get drinks there but never knew they did brunch. Went to brunch today with my friend and it was phenomenal. We got the brisket hash and huevos rancheros and both were phenomenal. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute lowkey brunch spot!!

Ashley A.

Yelp
I came in tonight with no intentions of eating dinner and after hearing the specials I had immediately changed my mind. Tofu tacos were the item, ultimate satisfaction was the outcome! So much so that I insisted on meeting the chef who made everything and tipped him personally. His name was Josh and I will definitely be back when he is making the specials. Top notch 10 out of 10!!!! Also, I think if your meal is spectacular at any restaurant, it's a necessity to tip the back of house! They are under appreciated and overworked. If you come into the Logan, which you absolutely should, and if Josh is working you are guaranteed to have the best meal!
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Amazing buttermilk chicken sandwich and garlic herb fries are the bomb! Good selection of beers and plenty of TV's to catch a game, or play shuffleboard or a board game. I will be returning soon!!

Yelp
A few days ago, the bartender was overwhelmed by the crowd and could not deal with it so she asked my group of five to leave the premises. Fortunately, there are other bars and restaurants in town.

Gus P.

Yelp
Super Fun Gonzaga bar and restaurant with games, great food and great service! Mug club is the way to go if you are a real Zags fan or frequent their pool table and arcade games. Casual but elevated ambiance for a college bar in Spokane. Craft Beer, sandwiches, burgers, wings, fries, tots and home made sauces are all great there or for take out! Pretty sure they do Uber eats and grub hub and other services like that.

Jacob S.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch because it was near the animal hospital and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the Italian grinder and it was absolutely amazing! I wish I lived near Spokane so I could get it every week. Service was good, restaurant was clean, and atmosphere was pretty nice for lunch time.
google avatar

Kristie Y.

Yelp
Bloody Mary's are good. Buffalo fries are delicious. Prices aren't bad. I've only been on Friday mornings so the vibe is low key.
google avatar

Michele G.

Yelp
Came up to explore Spokane and found this little gem. We were welcomed immediately though the door. We ordered off the brunch menu and the regular menu. We ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla off the brunch menu and it was delicious! We took some home! We also ordered the Kennel Wrap with sweet potato tots, this as well was delicious! We had great cocktails, Mimosa's and Bloody Marys. All super good! Our server Brittany was extremely friendly, attentive and gave us suggestions for our order. Brittany made our visit even more enjoyable. The next time we are in Spokane we will come back to Logan Tavern!
google avatar

Zac P.

Yelp
The bartender called me a bitch because I did not want to take a shot. 10/10 will be back for sure

Yelp
I live close to Logan Tavern and it is such a great place to go for happy hour or brunch or just a simple gathering with friends. I have gone here serveral times now and they are always so nice and attentive. Food: I recommend the burgers with the tots ! They have different sauce options to dip your tots in and they are all great so you really cant go wrong with any of them. I have gone there for happy hour and it is (i believe ) 2 dollars off appetizers and they also have drink specials. If you go for brunch mimosas are only $3 which is a great deal !!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
It was so good! I got the kennel wrap and my daughter got the chop chop chicken and we both got the garlic herb fries. Both our meals were great! Good portions, came fast and service was excellent!

Leanna M.

Yelp
Just okay...we will not be returning. I ordered the vegetarian burger on the menu and it was great as well as the fries, but the rest of the food we ordered was lacking. The beer cheese on the nachos was at the bottom of the bowl making it appear it was missing and the hamburger on the top was cold. We also ordered a hotdog for our little and we were up charged for fries we didn't order. Our server dropped off the food and came back once to see if we needed a box, and then did not return again to take our check; we ended up finally paying it at the bar. If I was busy in there we would have easily understood, but it was not busy. If it would have just been the food we probably would have come back for another try because the burger was so good, but the poor services wrecked the experience.
google avatar

Ginny B.

Yelp
We went for Breakfast on Sunday. It was quite busy right after opening. Just the bar person waiting tables and the bar. I felt bad as she was spread so thin. The food was good my husband had the corn dog wrapped in a pancake. I had the quesadilla it was quite good. The place was cute well put together. I'd try it for lunch at another time.
google avatar

Teresa Y.

Yelp
Went to the tavern to watch the GU game and attempted to order a Long Island Ice Tea ($9). Unfortunately, what I actually received was essentially a shot of vodka, orange juice, and coke. When I asked for a different drink, they replaced it with a Jack and Coke ($5). No refund. All in all, my experience was poor. I will not be returning and I would not recommend the Logan Tavern if you're actually interested in enjoying what you choose to drink.

Cole D.

Yelp
Worst bartenders who are patently sexist, and drinks as well as food is absurdly overpriced. Terrible environment and pretends to be a college bar but is far from it.

Sophie Z.

Yelp
Went there to play shuffleboard, got my real ID taken. With all good faith, who is going to the Logan of all places with a fake ID? I get that the "bouncer" was just trying to do her job but I had to walk all the way home to get my passport just to get my ID back because I didn't want to call the cops.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
We had a large group of twelve and we had great service and delicious food. Nicole was sweet, attentive and kind. The drink menu is large and includes full bar and local craft beers with daily specials. We had fries, maple bacon popcorn, and smothered fries as appetizers which were wonderful. The tacos, sliders, burgers, and salads were delicious. Nicole and wait staff did a great job with our large table. We will be back again soon!
google avatar

Destiny M.

Yelp
Delicious lil Sammy chicken sandwich! Pickup was a freakin breeze & my meal was cheaper than if I had gone to a fast food restaurant. (And obviously tasted better) Will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Josi H.

Yelp
OH MAN YOU GUYS. One of the best little spots ever. And this was my first experience. My husband wanted a burger and if you've read previous reviews of mine you know that he's picky about his burgers. It was a beautiful burger. Truly handcrafted with the most beautiful brioche bun. Heart eyes yo! Then I order two sliders for $10 - two orders of these sliders. So four beautiful delicious sliders . Perfectly cooked beef with an awesome clearly house made sauce. And the beet, goat cheese and arugula sliders - which were my favorite and I will forever eat this delicious slider. Way to go!!! Then we had the donuts. With CREAM CHEESE FROSTING. and I am hooked for a lifetime. Super super grateful for this place and it's standards of deliciousness. Also my son's name is Logan so we are naturally bias.
google avatar

Jen I.

Yelp
We came here for the first time since Logan's opened in the GU District. The taco Tuesday specials were perfect, our total included food and drinks for 2 people and was still under $20! Our servers were friendly and attentive. The pork and tacos were flavorful and really delicious. We'll be back to try some of the other weekly specials/drinks!

Alicia D.

Yelp
This place is so good! It was our first time in and we'll definitely be back! Griffin was our server and he had excellent recommendations on food and drinks. The garlic fries were delish, as were the pickle fries. We also had the chop chop sandwich, the crispy chicken sandwich and the Mac and cheese. All so yummy! We'll definitely be back! *Kids are welcome until 8pm*
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
This place is always A+, The shit!, bee's pajamas, the cats knees... but seriously, everything is on point. The staff makes you feel like you belong & are very helpful. The burgers are bomb, the pulled pork sliders are amazing but the Logan fires are prob at the top for me.... even the garlic fries ... but when you throw pulled pork and jalapeños into the mix it's over....best damn fries! Also, I've heard from a reliable source they have the best fried pickles in town son!
google avatar

Isaac G.

Yelp
Excellent spot for lunch. They have been open less than a week, and the kitchen is already doing a great job! The place is comfortable, with plenty of TVs for the game. There's a shuffleboard, and a pool table, so if you're into that, enjoy. The menu is classic tavern fair, burgers sandwiches salads, all the usuals. The sweet potato tots are spot on.
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
Having now been a couple times, once for dinner once for brunch, I can say the food and drinks are delicious, and very nicely priced compared to competitors. This is a very welcome addition to the area that we will keep coming back to. Big standouts at brunch were the poutine, and the you do you mimosa and the giant ultimate bloody mary, which was a partial meal on its own.

Monica R.

Yelp
The food and customer service was amazing!!! I will go back when in Spokane. Kennel Wrap + French Fries
google avatar

Hayley J.

Yelp
I went here at least every Wednesday for their wing Wednesday. Their wings are absolutely amazing and a great deal on Wednesday's. They have different deals throughout the week and a pretty decent selection of beers on tap. The service is great, super impressed every time, especially with Miamyah (?). They also have a pool table, games, shuffleboard, and fun Gonzaga game watches. I would definitely suggest.

Ahnnalyssia R.

Yelp
Whole club melt I was craving a fresh toasted sandwich but instead I get a mushy BURNT sandwich bread is burnt chicken is burnt bacon is ok you can see the little piece of lettuce 15$ for a sandwich why serve something like this ? Like who makes something like this and gives it to a customer and expect them to come back ? Do you not clean ur grills ? Do you just slap it on a dirty grill and leave it ? Like I'm so disappointed I spent 20$ on delivery for something that is so burnt it makes it gross to eat. Do not eat here they obviously don't value there consumers.

Connor M.

Yelp
Very unprofessional and rude bartender and staff. I saw a rat

Jason S.

Yelp
We arrived here on a Saturday morning promptly at 10 AM to have brunch. After all, this was a KHQ weekly deal, and the reviews are very good, so this sounds like a win-win Upon arriving, there was a group of about fifteen women dressed in yoga attire, who had apparently participated in a yoga class inside the business before they opened, walking around in bare feet (in an establishment that serves food - unsanitary and disgusting) helping to move tables into position to open up the business for the day. Apparently it's Mommy Mimosa Morning, as my party sat at a table next to one of these groups of yoga participants. Immediately, the smell of Icy Hot and Bengay filled the air. Very appetizing. There was a massage chair set up in a corner and people were being rubbed down for some unexplained reason. Some random person came up and asked us if we wanted to participate in a raffle. No, I just want to eat brunch with some friends. What is going on at this place? The ceilings are low in the entire space, and there isn't anything hanging up that absorbs much of the sound, so there was a ton of noise bouncing off the walls and ceilings, like a noisy beehive. I understand that this is a bar, but this is not a good environment to have brunch. We moved to a different table as we couldn't hear each other from across the table with all the noise in the rest of the space. Even though it was still relatively difficult to hear each other, at least the medicinal smell of Bengay and Icy Hot wasn't in my nostrils any more. At 10:15, we ordered our food, including appetizers. Our server showed up empty-handed to take our orders, and when teasingly asked if she would remember everything, she said that normally she would use an iPad to take the order, but the battery was dead. I guess pens and paper are just too low-tech, it's best to not remember the entirety of your customer's orders instead; that's a much better idea, and of course, that is precisely what happened, as there were a couple of mistakes when we eventually received our food. Our server checked on us ONE time for water fill-ups, and did not apologize or say anything about the delay other then there was a big group of people ahead of us (the Mimosa Yoga Mommies) and it should be out soon. Immediately afterwards, our server walked back to the bar, and started talking trash about our group asking about the delay in receiving our food. The understaffing of their restaurant was our fault, obviously. It was also horrible that we asked where the items were that we had ordered over an hour ago. This was extremely rude and unprofessional. Amazingly, it took until 11:30 (75 minutes from ordering) to even receive an appetizer, which, of course, came out with the rest of the food, main courses and all. So we sat around for well over an hour without any food. For a place that "invites" people to come try their brunch, this experience was unacceptable and piss-poor, to put it nicely. The food was good, but the service and experience was so incredibly bad that it didn't matter at this point how delicious the food was. Probably the worst experience eating bar food of any kind that I've ever had. and the rest of the people in my party shared that sentiment. Thankfully, we used up all of our gift certificates for this place so we never have an excuse to go back. Strongest recommendation to avoid.

Yelp
My MS Walk team and I went to Logan's for lunch after the walk. Boy was that a mistake. We were one of two tables there. Ordered food after receiving our drinks and then continued to wait over one hour for our food that consisted of Nachos and gravy fries. Also, the cook forgot one of our gravy fries and made her wait another 15 minutes. The server was good. It was not her fault. Either the cook was very late or very ill prepared. Food mediocre at best for bar food. Way way over priced for bar food. Bathroom smelled like a urinal. Very very disappointing!!!

Kim C.

Yelp
My friend and I came in for some drinks & breakfast. The first thing the server says to me is "we are over 21 bar" Yes I am 21, yes I can read the sign. Our Bloody Mary tasted awful. I thought they were known for those. During our whole entire experience here our server was very rude and not friendly at all. She took 30 mins to come and take our order, we had to flag her down which we are servers as well and don't like to do that. Disappointed for the first time going.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
There used to be really great bartenders here but now its the same pretentious guy every time I go in. Literally was just trash talking a coworker to another coworker right in front of me at the bar. Food is ok. won't be returning.
google avatar

Jessie D.

Yelp
So start off by saying the Bloody Mary was fantastic. Great taste and great presentation, as well as priced reasonable. The inside is clean, cool atmosphere. You can also play shuffle board and they have a bunch of board games. The server was attentive and friendly. Now to the not so great stuff. Despite being delicious my Bloody Mary took 20 minutes because of the small grilled cheese. He kept saying that there is one girl back there and she is swamped but it's literally bread and cheese it takes a minute. When I got it the cheese wasn't even melted. Now to the food, prices were great pretty cheap. I got the biscuits and gravy with two eggs and bacon. Literally it had zero flavor, it was so bland you couldn't even taste the sausage. The biscuits were just not good and I ordered my eggs over medium and they were over hard. My boyfriend got the tavern burger and said it was eh, not that enjoyable. The garlic parm fries again zero flavor but they were super crispy and cooked perfectly. The best thing food wise was the fries. Prob would only go back for drinks next time.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! Great drinks and great food! Highly recommend the fried pickles. Trivia night is awesome!
google avatar

Ally M.

Yelp
Food was marginal at best. They took over an hour from the moment we got in to the moment we got our food. The waitress (poor girl) was by herself tending to all the tables and they had about 10 tables. My husbands nachos had nacho sauce at the bottom of the plate but none on the top. His shredded cheese was not warm when he was given his food and my garlic fries were not fresh either. Never going back.

Yelp
We go every time we're in Spokane, usually twice per trip. We knew Nehemiah from Jones Radiator, and we're excited to see him in a bigger and better place. The food is awesome, Happy Hour prices are insane, and servers are fast and friendly.
