I wrote the following review for my neighborhood group on Facebook:
Hi, neighbors. Well, it's Valentine's Day, and for Karen and me that means we visit a restaurant for dinner. No cooking, no dishes, no cleanup for her. Or me.
The eatery I'm reviewing today is part of a primarily southern chain called Logan's Steakhouse. The place at the edge of Buda is as a convenient as it gets
Luckily for us, it was just starting to fill up when we got there about 4:30 in the afternoon. We expected a crowd for Valentine's Day, but we didn't start seeing a wait until we left about 6.
Logan's is a comfortable, welcoming place along the lines of the Texas Roadhouse, perhaps with a little less hustle and bustle. I imagine Texas residents are familiar with it, but to all our neighbors in Turner's Crossing who recently moved here from elsewhere, it may be new. Coming from Ohio, Karen and I had not been to one before.
So, without further ado, I will get to the meat of this brief review.
The menu is extensive, with lots of beef entrées. There are some interesting pasta dishes, and several of the appetizers are big enough for a main meal.
Tonight I went for the Logan, which is a house specialty featuring an 11-ounce sirloin. it comes with two sides, so I picked my usual favorites, a baked sweet potato and a Caesar salad. A basket of lightly buttered rolls, steaming hot from the oven, was set in front of us along with our drink orders.
Karen selected the filet mignon, with side dishes of green beans and mashed potatoes. She said the steak was tender and flavorful, and was very happy with the two ordinary sides. Half of both of our meals came home with us for another dinner.
Now, this is at least our fifth or sixth visit to Logan's since we moved here, so here's a caveat about the Logan sirloin. It has been absolutely delicious every time I ordered it, except once. It seems when you order a simple sirloin, you roll the dice as to tenderness. In my experience at Logan's, therefore, you have a good chance of getting a very nice cut of meat. But there's no guarantee. Of course, I could have sent the one back that wasn't as good as it could've been, but it wasn't so far off that I wanted to wait for another one. I was just too hungry that night.
Highlight of the meal was the strawberry cheesecake dessert that Karen and I shared. It was a slice of absolutely perfect, New York-style cheesecake. Thick and creamy. Just like the good stuff at Katz's Deli in Manhattan.
Logan's is not a fancy place, but if you have a hankering for a good meal at a nearby eatery that won't break the bank, it's a good choice.

Following are brief notes from previous visits to Logan's:

The car knew enough to steer us to another steak restaurant when it was time for dinner tonight. Logan's Roadhouse did itself proud.
Karen thoroughly enjoyed the Maui beef tips in pineapple sauce over rice, with sides of green beans and a Caesar salad. I demolished most of my 11-ounce, house-special Logan sirloin steak with baked sweet potato and Caesar salad. We brought home enough of our meals for a nice lunch tomorrow.
A lovely and efficient waitress named Tianna used "y'all" several times when she first came to our table. She seemed to lack a heavy Texas accent, so we asked if she was a native Texan. Turns out she's from Youngstown. We immediately felt a bit of kinship.

Beef. It's what's for dinner. Karen had a taste for filet mignon and all the fixings, so we made a third visit to this steakhouse in Buda. Very good place, with an extensive menu that goes beyond steaks and chops.
I had the 11-ounce top sirloin (no surprise there), which came with a Caesar salad, baked sweet potato, and warm rolls.
We brought some of the dinners home with us too.
Logan's is a chain of casual restaurants, with 135 eateries in 22 states. It is similar in price and ambience to Texas Roadhouse. Karen and I were both happy with our dinners.

This small Texas chain, very similar to the Texas Roadhouse, is about three miles from our house. It's a perfect choice when Karen doesn't feel like cooking.
At about $19, the 11-ounce sirloin with a baked sweet potato, Caesar salad, and buttery rolls is a fine choice. Karen's entree was an appetizer plate of loaded potato skins, and she brought half home.
