Auberge Bienvenue

"This place may have celebrated its 30th birthday but it shows no sign of tiring. Comfortably ensconced beneath the beams and arcades of the large dining area, you have to admit that at times nothing beats tradition, especially when it comes to cooking." - Michelin Inspector

Very comfortable room with air conditioning.|Friendly staff and excellent food and wine.|Dog friendly.|Secure car park.|There is a small swimming indoor pool and hot tub, which we did not have time to use as we were there only one night.|A beautiful garden and small pond to sit in at the back of the hotel. An oasis of calm after a long drive.

Hotel is above average. Room was nice but could do with a fridge and complimentary water. We had a front room which was a bit noisy with the traffic. Leaving this aside its a nice hotel with fantastic grounds, swimming pool and jacuzzi.. The staff are excellent and friendly. The hotel also offers a Private secure carpark. I don’t often think that restaurants I visit are worthy of a recommendation as I am always critical when I pay good money to eat mediocre rubbish food that I can do better with my eyes shut. You know what I mean. Well I recommend that you must eat here. We had the set menu and the meal was excellent. I mean really good and delicious. Everything prepared cooked and presented perfectly. This was the last night of our holiday and it certainly made up for all those terrible meals we had experienced over the previous days. I Highly recommend this place

Part of the Logis group so we weren't expecting top class cuisine. However, the moment we were welcomed into the very tastefully decorated dining area with its well-spaced tables, interesting lighting, table decoration and glassware I thought that we might well have underestimated this restaurant. The two fixed price menus had really good choices. We opted for the more expensive menu saveur (€45 for three courses). All of our food was beautifully presented and cooked. My wife had two Kir Royales and I had 2 glasses of St Nicholas de Bourgeuil. All in all a truly excellent meal at a more than reasonable price.

Much wanted return after the recent pandemic. Madame Roche charming as ever and with Paul successfully survived a tough period of closure due to Covid. Rooms lovely as ever although the garden area needs a little TLC as more overgrown as trees mature making rooms darker than usual.||The restaurant was busy and food excellent as always. However this time special mention of her new staff …..two delightful young girls who were personable and clearly very well trained and the sommelier, a young man recently settled in France …..all were engaging and a credit to Madame who oversees the floor with calme and precision.||The Auberge is reasonably priced for rooms but dinner with wine on the pricey side but lots of choice including a substantial vegetarian selection. A downside is breakfast. H lice very restrict and frankly expensive.||Outside the hotel three minutes drive is a huge supermache with an excellent restaurant plus if needed a McDonalds! Also cheap fuel.| |Consider a visit to the Bio Parc zoo although during this visit light on animals but setting super!||Great couple of day three hours from the ferry ….awaiting our next visit ….book direct for best prices!

Hottest day of the year so thank goodness for the air conditioning. Lovely comfortable room. Nice quiet garden with wildlife pond and indoor swimming pool. And the dinner was absolutely superb - best meal we’ve had in years. Shame we could only stay one night as we were on our way South. We will undoubtedly return.

Had to cancel my first booking as the ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. The hotel allowed us to change our date even though there was supposed to be no change or refund. Very decent indeed. We emailed ahead to say we would arrive late and Mme Roche emailed back promptly to say that's fine. Parking is completely secure with a solid gate with key pad entry. There is no height restriction at the entry point. There are 3 Tesla charging points. Check in was super swift. We were lead to room 1 which is close to the front door. A very large room with all the facilities you need. Patio doors open onto the garden which was great for our little dog. Across the garden is the pool and jacuzzi which is super. We had it all to ourselves which was a real luxury. Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate so we walked to a nearby cafe for coffee and croissant. Breakfast at the hotel is €12 per person. We didn't have dinner there as we arrived too late. We have already booked again for June, a real hidden gem.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay while you visit the Angers to Saumur part of the Loire Valley, the Auberge Bienvenue is a good choice. There is good road access to the places of interest and plenty of exceedingly good wine producers. The ||Chateaux of the Loire however are a good bit to the east.||||Auberge Bienvenu is part of the Logis group and is noted as a Table Exceptional – or outstanding food – and it is extremely good with an excellent wine list. They serve a really good continental breakfast at a very reasonable price. ||||The hotel is well run and very welcoming. The rooms are spacious, but surprisingly lacking in storage. There are no drawers and the cupboards miss the opportunity for shelves. On each side of the bed there is a small shelf – from their website, there was a second shelf, but that has disappeared leaving the fixing holes in the wall. Why no small bedside chest of drawers?||||The spa is excellent – a reasonable size pool and Jacuzzi. It’s part of the separate garden area block and you are asked to change there, rather than in your room. OK, but there are only two changing booths and no lockers. When four of us arrived there was a couple in the pool who’d left clothes in one of the booths. We took it in turns to change in the other one and left our clothes on chairs. There weren’t many chairs either.||||The beds are comfortable and, despite being on the side towards the main road, we were not disturbed at night. There is a very large Super U and a small Lidl just down the road towards the town centre and a Bioparc (zoo) almost next door in an old stone quarry. With a little extra investment in storage this would easily be a five star place to stay. As it is, I have to round it down to four stars.
