"A riverside location and ivy-clad façade set the charming rural scene for this Vendée inn overlooking the old stone bridge – ideal for a gourmet get-away! The chef works with top produce, aromatic herbs and subtle seasonings and each dish reveals the hallmark of his enthusiastic culinary quest. Make sure you save room for the desserts – to die for! The menu changes fortnightly. A few attractive rooms overlooking the River Vendée are available, together with boats and mountain bikes for rent should you feel more energetic. Perfectly idyllic!" - Michelin Inspector

Lovely setting, very quiet and peaceful, right by the river. Room was clean, very comfortable with a view of the river. Rooms with a terrace are available but we were only staying one night, so didn’t bother. Wi-fi worked. The only slight criticism would be that the food, although delicious, was quite expensive, maybe a sign of the times currently.

A delightful setting alongside the river. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed a splendid meal in the evening. However the breakfast was disappointing. There was a bowl of fresh fruit which was actually mouldy! Such a shame after the previous evening.

A fantastic place to stay and eat. We stayed in a room with a lovely, peaceful view of the river. We ate in the evening and chose the set menu of surprise dishes. This comprised of nine freshly cooked dishes, starters, mains and puddings. We enjoyed vegetables, three types of fish, duck and two delicious puddings. There was plenty of bread and we chose a lovely Rose to go with it. The dishes were tasters but because we sampled nine dishes we were very full!! The staff there were lovely and very welcoming and helpful. I thoroughly recommend staying and eating there. We also ate a brilliant breakfast the following morning. Great choices, fresh food and plenty to choose from. 😊

A lovely hotel next to the river, room was large and comfortable. Ate in the restaurant for dinner. A delicious meal and wine though not a huge choice. Close to the motorway for access but far enough away not to hear any traffic. Would definitely return.

This is a hotel of two halves - good food, poor accommodation. Check in was friendly but on seeing the 'superior' room we were allocated I was ready to drive off elsewhere. It was on the first floor of a block overlooking the river with a small window letting in little light, dark, depressing and with a strange odour. If this was a superior room I dread to think what a lower category looks like. There was a redecorated room available in the main Auberge which was acceptable so we ended up staying. This room didn't have a shower, only a bath, had no milk for coffee despite having coffee sachets and was situated next to a road bridge crossing the river so was noisy with the window open on a hot night other than in the dead of night. We had dinner on the Terrace and in fairness, dismissing the mediocre service, the food was very good. Starters of regional produce and 'Magret' cooked pink both hit there spot and with a few bottles of Provence rose, we spent an enjoyable few hours dining riverside. Despite the good food and the delightful location alongside the river, we wouldn't return as the standard of accommodation leaves a lot to be desired.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Stayed for one night with our two dogs. Riverside room was perfect. Evening meal was exceptional and we will definitely return on a future trip.

We just love this place. It's situation by the river is idyllic. The rooms are very comfortable with everything you need .We had a ground floor superior room with it's own terrace which commands a very modest premium over a standard room.|Dinner on the terrace was a sheer delight.Great food although the choice is very limited.Breakfast outside was wonderful.|Staff are very efficient and friendly.|Definitely worth a detour.

Food was amazing but the waiter staff let the place down. Considering what it sets its self out to present the waiter staff were poor. Had go ask 3 times for our water. Stand up and pour our own wine. It seemed like the b team. Such a shame as the chefs were fantastic. I'd have paid more for the food to achieve better staff.
