Auberge Le Centre Poitou

"The same family has been honing their talent for hospitality and running this inn, formerly a post house, since 1870. The food is flavoursome and skilfully prepared using produce selected by the new chef, son, Mathias." - Michelin Inspector

I am grateful to have discovered this place: established in the late 19th century, its authentic character shines through in every detail, from the furniture and architecture to the charming garden filled with mature trees and plants. If you prefer modern establishments with an Ikea-like atmosphere, this may not be the place for you. Personally, I favor spaces with history and character. Such places are rare to find, making this one a true treasure. On top of that, the dining experience was exceptional. I already know I’ll be coming back.

Beautiful, old hotel, with a Michelin mentioned restaurant and great service. The breakfast is to be recommended as well. Also, rooms with a view on the beautiful garden are to be recommended as well.

For a place I chose for its location along the old pilgrimage route, I could not have gotten luckier. The accommodations were perfect, but the restaurant was an unexpected gift of French excellence. Lovely people. Thank you!

Excellent service. Comfortable rooms. Very delicious food at the restaurant with excellent price quality ratio. Local produce and for the best part organic. Copious breakfast with gluten-free options. My favourite stop on A10 motorway between Paris and Bordeaux.

We stopped here overnight en route for a holiday further south in France, and were surprised by the fantastic standard of the food on the set menu. Everything was delicious. The chef came out at the end and seems to be young but very talented. It was pricey, but the meal meant we had a very enjoyable evening to relax over great food - much appreciated after a day spent on very slow roads. The room was much more basic than the food, with rather dated bathroom and decor, although we found everything clean and generally it was fine. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.

Roadside Auberge, convenient location and friendly staff. We had an overnight stay whilst driving through France. We ordered an upgraded room as we were travelling with a dog. This was supposed to be a superior with a seating area for about €50 more. It appeared to be a standard room with 2 extra seats, that just got in the way. It was a hot night and there’s no air con. Just a very noisy fan. |The restaurant was excellent for dinner, really good menu and well presented great quality food. Clearly that doesn’t stretch to breakfast which you order the night before and is left out on a table. |Overall disappointed by the room, and whilst dinner was good it was pricey.

One of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at and we gave eaten at many good restaurants around the world. From the minute we walked into the beautiful dining room the attention that we received was first class. We were delighted at the unexpected arrival of a number of delicious complimentary courses. The menu was innovative and each dish was exceptional. The service throughout was outstanding, attentive but not overbearing. All in all the perfect dining experience.
