"In the mountainous area on the edge of the Basque Country, this traditional place is quite simply charming... not least thanks to the food. Tuck into dishes such as grilled foie gras, parsnips with pain d'épice, or confit shoulder of lamb and piquillo peppers... It is simple, tasty and hearty fare, and the view of the Pyrenees is superb." - Michelin Inspector

We visited only the restaurant, which was phenomenal. The food was extremely high quality and one could tell that the ingredients were fresh and local. Every dish was phenomenal, especially the tuna starter and for me the desserts. Food was extremely beautifully presented too. Furthermore, the food was not too expensive, with the three course menu for €38 and two for €28. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great, and the panoramic views were stunning.

The food is superb. I think the restaurant deserves a Michelin star. You can not beat the view from the restaurant's wide bay windows. A beautiful tree filled valley rich in green hues. the service from the owners is warm and heartfelt. We stayed in a room 14, with a balcony and view directly of the valley. Id recommend this is you can get it. The village is quintessential French but with its unique Basque charm. Lots of hikes close by. This is our second visit here and we will return.

We stayed March 18th, 2017 with our two kids. We found the hotel to be clean, well-maintained and ideally situated. It was rustic (charming rustic, not like falling-apart rustic, lol), and the rooms were remodeled and had beautiful bathrooms. Make sure you ask for a room that looks out over the valley/mountain, it is breathtaking to wake up to such magnificent countryside! Our room had plenty of space for the fold-out crib we brought. ||||The service was courteous, helpful and friendly. Dinner was reasonable and delicious! Appetizers, amuse-bouche, starter, main and dessert for €22, not including drinks. ||||Close to several hikes. We did Passerelle d'Holzarte and Gorges de Kakuetta (both a MUST.) and the town in which the hotel is situated is quaint, picturesque and tranquil. ||||We LOVED our little weekend get-away here. Highly recommend.

Having comminucated in advance with Pierre and his family that run the hotel they could not be more helpful. ||They were able to provide all we needed for our cycling group including special menus, bike storage and drying facilities. ||The food was outstanding but the service was better. ||The location is a considerable way up towards Port de Larrau with wonderful views. ||This is off the route but the restaurant was full of diners including ourselves. ||Breakfast was fresh and served early so our group could depart. ||The rooms were well received by all our group.||||Thank you for an excellent stay after a tough day cycling. The following day was even tougher but all remarked how good the stay was at this hotel.

A typical mountain hotel but the owners have refurbished a lot of the rooms (I gather it's ongoing) so the one we had was great with a lovely bathroom and rainforest shower. Ask for a first floor room with a mountain view - you get a little balcony and beautiful view of the fields and mountains. Yes there were some rather dozy flies around, but then there are a lot of animals in the neighbourhood (cows and sheep) and so flies are a inevitable. Staff were very pleasant. The restaurant has quite a reputation and we weren't disappointed - it was quite the best meal we had during our week's tour of the Pays Basque.

Very friendly staff in the hotel. Restaurant was great and affordable as well. |Room was nice and spacious, only real downside was the lack of airconditioning. I stayed in July, heat inside the room was almost unbearable. I had a room on the top floor, if you stay during summer make sure you get a room on the first floor which is much cooler. ||Would definitely give a 4* rating if not for the lack of airco. Apart from that I enjoyed my stay here and wouldn't mind visiting again.

The hotel is in a lovely location, the rooms clean and the Room we had, had an up to date bathroom which was nice. The bed had a plainly cheap foam mattress but I did remind myself this was a 2 star establishment||The meal in the evening was very nice, breakfast was a bit sparse with cereal limited to cornflakes .||The staff were ok but we weren't allowed to check in until 3 pm.||The worst part of our experience was the flies in the restaurant which clearly didn't bother the staff, they commented " it's the country " in French meaning of course the hotel is in the countryside, get used to it.||Well, frankly a little more care , the installation of a fly catcher would have gone down a bit better||Other guests were equally upset by the constant swotting one had to do to fend of the flies, I might add that these were French people too.||Breakfast was a similar story unfortunately with all the food unprotected.||If they can't keep the restaurant and breakfast room fly free , what chance the kitchen?||||Coming from Australia we know all about flies and hygiene and it isn't hard just good housekeeping||Nice hotel and meal spoilt by flies and staff indifference to the issue
