La Chatellenie

"Talented pair Emilie and Thomas Fournier have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into running this charming inn hidden deep in the Vienne, which gives pride of place to local producers. The delicious dishes are artfully plated and are good value for money. For example: asparagus and duck confit, served with a warm vinaigrette, or their version of devilled egg – flavoured with wild garlic. Well worth the detour." - Michelin Inspector

We only visited for lunch but everywhere appeared very clean and tidy. Car parking is available just round the corner from the hotel free of charge. The staff were polite, attentive and helpful. We chose the Market Menu for our meal but we were very disappointed in the main course of Pork Curry which consisted a few large chunks of pork and baby potatoes with their skins on in a bowl of water with the tiniest hint of curry spices. Given the write ups about the chef, as local British residents we had high hopes of eating a good curry made in France but were sorely disappointed. Everything else we had was very good and presented nicely. Some of the drinks were also very expensive. Cost for lunch for 2 - splitting the bill was €73 which is very expensive compared to other restaurants. Would we eat there again? Possibly. My tip to everyone would be to check what is on the menu for the day you plan to visit as some of the previous weeks menus there was maybe only one or 2 items on the menu each of us could have eaten and we eat out regularly in the various restaurants in the area.

We chose this hotel for its restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The menu was good value for the quality too. The rooms were large, clean and stylishly decorated whilst keeping some of the character of the building. ||Staff were always friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend and hope to return

Wonderful stay. Nice comfortable room and overwhelmingly friendly atmosphere . The meal was spectacular and sensibly and pragmatically constrained due to the chef considering fish and seafood to be problematic in terms of supply and price . The langue de boeuf course was exquisite and somewhat eclipsed the dishes we had over the next couple of days in a one star Michelin restaurant.

This review is on the restaurant What a gem of a find - fine dinning at its best. We chose a set menu, there is a choice of set menus at a variety of prices. The food, service and setting is absolutely superb and we shall definitely be going back !

Smashing hotel with a talented chef producing delicious meals. The welcome was warm.||The rhubarb tart was magnificent (and rare in France). ||We asked for and were served local wine which was very much to our taste. The room was large and comy - loved the wood floor. ||Would be a pleasure for anyone to stay and eat here. The lady who served our table was excellent.||TIP - Book via LOGIS web site - best rates

Have been staying nearby for the last week or so. Can not rate the rooms. I expect that they rate as well as the restaurant. The food and service was fantastic.
