"How one imagines Sunday lunch in rural France: traditional, expertly crafted food that keeps pace with the seasons. In summer, relax in the flower-decked garden and soak up the sunshine. Beautifully located at the gate to the Morvan regional park." - Michelin Inspector

The food and service at Le Morvan remain top notch. Even after eating there for several years, we find that Chef Robbe has maintained a high standard. The cuisine always has some surprises but the tastes in each dish compliment each other. Even though the dining room is well-designed and formal, the staff are always extremely pleasant and professional yet willing to chat so the atmosphere is always relaxed.

The location is adorable and the staff are lovely, but the chef (who is also the host) is the real gem. It was the best dinner I have ever had in my life and as if that weren’t enough, we were served an awesome breakfast that was very different from other logis’ breakfasts. I stayed at various logis with great food but the food we had here was on a completely different level of perfection. I would give 10 stars for food if it were possible.

Some years ago we were recommended this hotel by another traveling couple. Although it is off the main route we decided to stop over trying to miss the exceptional traffic this July weekend. Arriving an hour later than planned and very travel weary we were surprised by this charming hotel. Exceptional rooms, clean, comfortable bed, super pillows, decor delightful. |A quick change and down to dinner. A red burgundy wine recommended by a busy waitress stated us off and the 44 euro menu chosen.|Beautifully cooked and presented. This was food of high quality. Impressed would be an understatement.|The detour well worth while and next time we visit here a longer stay to enjoy this hotel and the beautiful area is planned.|Cannot fault this fine establishment, wish there where more like it.|

We cannot praise this hotel, a Logis, too highly. ||||The food was stunningly good and much more adventurous than could reasonably expected from a relatively small establishment like this. The temptation is it to eat far too much. But there are menus with less courses to choose from too. And the wines were superb.||||The proprietor was charming, attentive and helpful. And worked non-stop to please everyone.||||And the village is tranquil and in such a delightfully scenic area. Plenty to do for everyone. ||||And the room was very comfortable too. ||||And I happily give my 5 star rating, despite not being easily pleased....

We have been coming here regularly for many years and it never disappoints. The owner and chef, Etienne Robbe, is a wonderful cook, and a gentle, charming man. The rooms are individually styled and very comfortable. The restaurant is very stylish and the food beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast is a pastry and cake feast! We will be back soon.

Fine cuisine marks this hotel above others. In the tiny village of Quarre Les Tombes, in the Morvan Regional Park, this hotel offers something so special that we arranged to return here after a previous memorable visit. Etienne Robbe offers meals that rate as a Michelin Selection. With careful attention to detail, each course is served on beautiful crockery and with fine silverware making the table a visual delight. But the delight to the taste buds is even more appealing with delicate flavours chosen to compliment each other. We chose half board and each night was a new surprise. Breakfast included a variety of delicious pastries and yoghurt a la maison, all served with the same careful attention to detail. Etienne Robbe is unfailingly helpful and attentive but in a gentle, unobtrusive way. His mother also helps in the restaurant and she is cheerful and charming. The hotel itself is decorated with French chic. As most small French hotels, the rooms are not large but ours, Saint George, was quite spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was quite large, there was a comfortable queen bed and all was spotlessly clean and fresh. The water pressure was good and the hot water was hot. The free wifi was good strength. This is not an area for public transport so you need a car. We used this as a base for 5 days and visited a winery (on Etienne's recommendation) Vezelay, Avallon, Chateau Castellux, the Resistance museum, the Benedictine Abbey in the forest near Vauban and took one of the long walks in part of a pilgrim trail. A very special hotel, off the usual tourist trail and definitely worth seeking out.

The little hotel with 7 rooms (?) looks into the green. Our room was large and clean (only on one day we found some of our hairs on the floor) and new decorated. Most important is that you can do a lot of trips from here and in the evening you enjoy the excellent food in the restaurant. The breakfast is as well very good and worth the money.

This smallish hotel is quite a find. Run and owned by Ettienne - he is a stickler for perfection - and he achieves it! The rooms are attractive and immaculate, fresh flowers and all the Logis bits and bobs one could wish for. The star element is the food. Ettienne makes everything - jams, croissants soups you name it - and dinner is an amazing event. Stunning quality down to the last morsel in a lovely restaurant. Pamela and "Fred" served us wonderfully with efficiency, charm and great humour. A truly smashing find - we will return one day and stay longer. My mouth is watering as I write this!!
