A New Coffee Shop, Bar, and Taco Spot Are Opening in LoHi | Eater Denver

"Set to open this spring, the five-story Alexan LoHi apartments replaced a retail strip at Dickinson Plaza that was torn down to make room for the new development, and will host a new coffee shop, bar, and taco restaurant for residents and the neighborhood at the northwest corner of 32nd Avenue and Tejon Street." - Josie Sexton

We spent a long time touring various apartment communities all over Denver, and LoHi House quickly became our top choice. We loved the floor plan designs and that they all came with gas stoves. It's also a smaller complex, so you don't just become a number to the staff. They are always available to ask questions or bring up concerns/issues. They really try and make an effort to get to know you! After 3 years living here, it's safe to say we made the right choice. We haven't had an issue that the front office or maintenance team hasn't been able to fix. Everyone in the building is super friendly, and we often run into our neighbors out and about in the neighborhood. It's made our experience living in Denver super great.

The leasing office at LoHi House is incredible! They are extremely responsive, helpful, and kind. Mario and Dana made our moving process extremely smooth and easy. The common areas are always in absolutely excellent condition and our apartment looked brand new when we moved in. The parking garage is very secure and the area is wonderful and safe. No notes, 10/10!!

This property has a little bit of everything you could want. If you are looking for a community, the Management team and neighbors are friendly and welcoming. If you want a quiet place to slip away to at the end of the day, its a very cozy complex. My dog and I enjoy our unit, the neighborhood, and everyone we've met along the way.

Building is nice but the staff make it feel like a welcoming place. Ray the maintenance man always is on top of keeping the place working.

I would recommend anyone to live here! I had such a great experience with the staff, and the common areas were always clean and well taken care of. You can’t beat the area either. Walking distance to everything!! Not a crowded apartment either, which I really appreciate.

The management team is responsive, proactive, and easy to work with. Shoutout to Jorge and his team for always following through on service requests quickly and professionally.

We have absolutely loved living at LoHi House the past year! There are so many restaurants and shops within walking distance, you really couldn't ask for a better location. Dana and Madison, in the front office, are wonderful and always help with any issues or questions that come up. Overall the apartment community is quiet and most people keep to themselves, but whenever we see a neighbor in the hallway or elevator everyone is super friendly and nice.

Living at LoHi House is an absolute delight! The surrounding area of LoHi is awesome, with its charm and beauty. Not only that, but the building itself is clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. While we may have encountered a few challenges in the past year, the new team has proven to be exceptional in handling everything with professionalism. I am genuinely thrilled to witness the positive trajectory of this place. Without a doubt, LoHi House is the epitome of ideal living in Denver.

Yelp
My car was stolen from the "secure" parking garage. Someone was able to walk into the building on two consecutive nights without issue. The response from the apartment building, while willing to provide video to the police, was otherwise unhelpful in their response and showed an unwillingness to take any responsibility or consider making safety changes. They did not immediately notify other residents when it occurred and were also not transparent in providing the full details. I believe the break-ins and theft will continue to be an issue and I no longer feel safe or that my belongings are safe in this building.

Yelp
The previous one star reviews don't surprise me. Actually surprised more ppl aren't making accounts to leave reviews here. I've been here years and was initially happy but things have gotten bad over the past year or so.  Three weeks ago, there was some kind of foul spill all over the floor of the garage and the building's response has been unbelievable. This happened over three weeks ago and it still stinks throughout the building. They've had crews here working on it but doesn't make sense why it happened in the first place. I've been living here a while and there is often a rotten smell that comes up throughout the building, indicating they weren't maintaining things. The initial response was that the maintenance guy left up a snippy note by the elevators telling us it wasn't sewage. This note was written on a piece of paper where you could see tenants personal information thru it on the back. Then we got a few curt emails from some regional manager who I don't think has ever actually ever been to this specific building trying to downplay it. Also, nothing in these emails warned us they'd be doing work in the garage near the spill. Since this started weeks ago, my car regularly gets covered in dust from all the construction and the garage still stinks so now the inside of my car has taken on the smell. Again, no communication aside from a few curt emails. It's been weeks now of living with this smell. Also, I walked in the other evening and noticed they left someone's ID on the front desk facing up. The staff here is just careless. The building literally stinks and everyone knows it and I'm sure everyone is happy paying exorbitant rent for a building w no amenities and breathing this stench in.

Yelp
This place bills itself as a luxury building and the rent prices reflect this. However, the reality of living here is very different. Don't believe the fake and/or old reviews from before this place went downhill: this is the worst maintained building I've ever lived in. They don't clean the apartments between tenants so there's a good chance your unit will be filthy when you move in. They'll promise it'll be taken care of by your move in date, but this isn't true. My apt was filthy and there was animal urine on the carpet when I moved in. Oh, and there's a chance your apartment might flood and they'll have to move you to another floor for a full month while they repair your apt. There was also a leak in one of the halls from the winter around half a year ago that has never been fixed. The ceiling caved in and now it's just exposed pipes and broken plaster and a stained carpet from water damage. They put a garbage bin under the leak to catch the water and now it's a permanent fixture of the hallway. The elevators break regularly too. There are two elevators for the building and one didn't work for months meaning you'd have to wait for several minutes every time or just take the stairs. Again, management sent us emails to let us know 'they're working on it.' Also, the last manager (he left a few weeks ago because no one stays) has multiple mugshots online so it seems like they don't run background checks. He was the guy who dealt with everyone's rental applications so he had everyone's financial info which is not very reassuring. For obvious reasons, the turn over here is constant so the building feels more like a hotel. All you see is moving trucks in front. It's a shame because the building was once nice but that was years ago. Thankfully, my lease is up soon.

Yelp
This is a warning to anyone thinking of renting here: think long and hard before signing a lease to live in an overpriced building with no amenities and terrible maintenance. The charges add up fast so the base rent isn't close to what you pay. There's no gym or workout area in the building so you'll have to factor a gym membership into your budget. Other added charges include things like trash pickup they force you to pay for (even tho there are garbage rooms at end of every hall) and common utility charges that some months are more than your individual bills because they crank the heat every winter in the stairwells so that its uncomfortably hot. Like other reviews have mentioned, the building stinks of garbage and grease trap pretty regularly. The management will never give you a straight answer and will lie to you about everything and anything. The building is already falling apart because it was cheaply constructed and it was only built in 2018. You can hear everything your neighbor does through the walls of this cheaply constructed building and if you're facing the street, it's going to be loud and if you're facing the courtyard, you'll have no view aside from other people's balconies. There are so many other buildings in the area with amenities and management that's willing to work with you and even negotiate on rent that I really regret signing a lease here.

Yelp
In LOVE with this apartment. I toured tons in downtown Denver but fell in love with the LoHi neighborhood and knew this was where I wanted to be. We toured with Christie, who is truly an absolute angel and made me feel incredibly welcomed from the minute I walked in the door. When I moved in, Jenna and Christie had already brought large packages (mattress, couch etc.) I had shipped into my studio for me, which was such a nice surprise. The apartment itself is beautiful, the location couldn't be better - coffee shop downstairs, walkable to tons of restaurants, etc. - and the staff is next level. Christie continues to go out of her way to make me feel at home and I feel so grateful to have found this gem of a place!

Yelp
When relocating from New York to Denver, we knew immediately that the Alexan LoHi was the place for us. Jenna and Eva were extremely helpful every step of the way - from giving us tours of the apartments to answering all of our questions along the way. They are extremely personable and have made the Alexan LoHi feel like home from day 1. The building is flawless and the apartments have beautiful finishes, new appliances, and large balconies with great views! There's also great common spaces and a courtyard. It is located in the heart of LoHi and walking distance to so many great restaurants, bars, and cafes. Jenna and Eva plan several events per month for residents which are very fun to attend and are great for meeting new people. If you're looking for a place to live in the LoHi neighborhood, the Alexan LoHi is truly the best!

Yelp
I just moved to Alexan LoHi and am absolutely in LOVE. The location is absolutely perfect, so many amazing restaurants, bars, coffee shops, breweries and scenery near by. Management (Jenna and Eva are awesome!!) and building staff have been so friendly, supportive and helpful. Every single question and concern upon move in was answered with care. The building is airy and clean. It seems like they mantain it very well on a daily basis. I have been here for a month and its been amazing! Their garage is gated, covered and easy to get around. There are assigned and non assigned spots. Our 2/2 has a great balcony with stunning dwtw Denver views. The rooms are spacious with beautiful well lit windows that come with very modern nice shades. The master bathroom has a double sink and lovely tile stand up shower. Soooo much storage thoughout the apartment. We even have a great little laundry room/dog corner. The kitchen is my favorite part. An amazing gas stove and huge kitchen island. The unit I am in comes with a built in wine fridge. To die for! I spend most of my time cooking there :) We are so in love with this apartment, its location and operations. Highly recommend it! Thank you Alexan! I feel at home

Yelp
When I toured Alexan in May of 2018, the A-team was leasing-up the apartment. Nisa and Mallori did an excellent job showcasing the apartment, as well as being supportive after move in. Once the complex was leased up, things changed. The A-team was moved out for the D-team, especially with Sam moving on to a corporate gig. The new manager is about as friendly as a refrigerator. This complex is extroadinarily over priced, and if you're in an exterior apartment with any view besides for the courtyard, very loud from emergency vehicles. Be prepared for extraneous fees above your rent. Everything from communal space electricity fees to $175 parking spaces to mandatory trash "valet" fees to move out fees to pet cleanup fees without legitimate justification (they showed up pictures that could have been taken in any apartment, despite our 7 year old dog never having had an accident in the apartment). Additionally, this apartment complex has next to no amenities to justify their over priced apartments. Do yourself a favor and find a better place in LoHi. You'll only regret your decision to waste your money at Alexan LoHi.

Yelp
Living at Alexan Lohi is an absolute nightmare. The staff has no regard with their residents' experience and will do literally nothing to help. The atmosphere is really not live-able if you have any sort of career but targeted towards the party frat type of lifestyle. If you are a career professional this location is NOT for you. The noise levels are like living in an outdated building in LoDo but twice the price. The construction quality of the building is absolute garbage. Leaving/driving the garage and area is absolute CHOAS and dangerous. In addition to the above, there are no amenities to the building. Think twice about committing to any sort of lease. There are thousands of places to live and I unfortunately made a huge mistake with Alexan Lohi.

Yelp
I recently moved to Alexan LoHi and I am SO happy! Christie and Heather were both so patient and helpful answering all of my questions before my move. Christie is so friendly and welcoming, and I love the general sense of community in the building. My apartment is absolutely gorgeous with amazing mountain and city views, very spacious rooms, huge kitchen island with gas stove, tons of storage space, I could go on and on! I've lived in many places, and this apartment is by far my favorite! Plus the location is super walkable. LOVE!

Yelp
I could not thank the staffing team at Alexan Lohi (Christie, Jenna, Ivan, Lola) enough. They are kind, HELPFUL, and quick to assist with any issues that arise. Beyond the staff being A+, the building is always clean and quiet which I love. I am moving to Chicago, and am weirdly sad to say goodbye to the staff here at Alexan Lohi. They provide such a warm and inviting presence each and every day, and I am thankful for all of their continual hard work to make living here easy and a great experience.
