"If châteaux-hopping is your idea of a good time, look no further than a day trip to the Loire Valley. All along Europe’s longest river, the Loire, you’ll find over 20 Renaissance-era castles that are open to the public, each offering a healthy dose of art, architecture, and French pomp and circumstance to visitors. If you’re day-tripping, narrow it down to a visit of Chambord and Chenonceau, two of the region’s most extravagant châteaux. If you’re able to swing a weekend trip, spend a few hours wandering around Orléans, a city famous for its connection to Joan of Arc. You may want to consider renting a bike, as cyclists flock to this region for the renowned Loire à Vélo cycle route, which spans nearly 600 miles. And after all those castles and cycling, be sure to leave time to indulge at some of the local wineries, which are about as omnipresent as the castles." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Known locally as'The last wild river in France'the variety of water topography here is very nice for water goers,so many low islands to offer you excellent camping among the nature in summer,it seems very clean, with many sandbanks which limit the navigation to smaller/leisure craft ,a truly wonderful place to visit and spend time away from the cities,on a cautionary note,BEWARE THE WILD BOAR! as they are timid but can be aggressive at 3am through a mosquito net!

The Loire river valley is a lovely area to visit. I could add a lot of platitudes, but they would not suffice to describe it

Beautiful blue river which is a focal point of the city of Orléans. The banks provide paths which are a haven for walkers, cyclists and runners.
