The day we chose to have lunch at the Loiseau du Temps was one of the hottest on record so we were slightly concerned that the restaurant would be stifling and that our appetite would be spoiled. We needn't have worried. The interior was perfectly cool thanks to the addition of a large fan, and the menu was carefully chosen so that it was appropriate for such a day.
The gaspacho de tomates, which also contained strawberries and a red port sorbet, was a highlight. The main course, ling with gnocchi formed into a kind of tart and accompanied by a pesto sauce, was precisely cooked so the fish remained firm, tender and moist. While I'm not a great fan of desserts, the raspberry 'Dôme' with a gelatinised melon was a testament to the patisserie chef's expertise. I doubt if many amateur chefs could make it at home. Service, despite the heat, was friendly, well-timed and professional. At 38€, this was outstanding value, given the quality of the cooking and the dining experience.
