Dining at Lokanda Devetak 1870 was truly a memorable experience. This family-run restaurant has such a welcoming atmosphere, and you can really feel the passion they put into everything. One of the daughters looked after us with such care – she was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations of wines that matched the dishes perfectly. The food itself was absolutely amazing – full of flavour, tradition, and refinement. Beyond the quality of the meal, what stood out most was how the team managed to make us feel so warm and at home, almost like dining with family. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression, and we would definitely come back whenever we are in the region. Highly recommended!

Avguštin with his family is a professional host who is very rare to find. His care for guests who sleep or eat at his place are treated like kings and queens. We really appreciated his welcoming and the attention to our needs. We love wine and the wine list at the glass is perfectly balanced with the menu with the right attention to local wineries. But he has been able to surprise us with his recommendations for other Italian and international wines. Chapeau!

Lokanda Devetak is an excellent choice if you’re looking for authentic, homemade, and exceptionally tasty food. My husband and I opted for the 6-course tasting menu. They have a completely separate gluten-free menu, but they were happy to accommodate me by adapting the tasting menu and simply adjusting a few dishes to make them gluten-free. Every course was unpretentious yet incredibly flavorful and wine pairing was incredibly on point! The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit – I’ll certainly be coming back.

Everything at Lokanda Devetak embodies the value of 'hospitality'. One truly feels like a guest. There is a genuine enthusiasm for sharing the region's food and wine (about which the owners give expert recommendations). The rooms are perfectly appointed, rustic and traditional but comfortable. I love Friuli-VG and when I return to explore the fascinating Karst and Gorizia region further, I would stay and eat at Lokanda Devetak again; I have already recommended it to others.

Always a top experience...such a harty team with the owners and the daughters...they go an extra mile with the food and overall experience and attitude. Slovrnian/Italian classic dishes on the highest level. A very comprehensive wine list, a lot of choices even ordering just a glass. Very good prices.

Room was simple in a good way. Breakfast and dinner is worth a detour. I love places like this. I wish we vad these kind of places in Sweden. Excellent finner, high quality nonnas cooking nice staff whats not to like. I hope to return.

Finding a complete package of lovely accommodation, fabulous food and great service is rare. But this lovely little inn delivers it at every level. The rooms and food are wonderful but it is the hospitality and attention to detail of the Devetak family who run it that makes it special.

What a wonderful off the beaten path place to end up. We have wanted to stay and eat here for quite a while and we were not disappointed. Chef Gabriela and family are the loveliest folks who do such a wonderful job of making you feel right at home. The locanda is set up hill in a small village that is beyond quiet and a great place for stargazing. The building itself is a great mix of modern and traditional that makes for some pretty nooks for reading outside. You are well placed for excursions by foot, bike or car to a variety or towns and monuments and the views from the balconies on the second floor rooms go for miles down to the adriatic. But best of all is their menu - both food and wine. gabriella outdoes herself in the local specialties and provides you with a delicious set of choices while her husband and daughters take care of the front of the house with aplomb and offer a variety of local wines. One better than the next. It is not for nothing that this locale is listed in the Michelin guide as well and BuonRicordo among others. We will be back for an autumn or winter getaway!
