16 Great Martinis to Drink in Boston | Eater Boston

"Lola has amassed a cult following due to its Seaport, Nantucket, and Florida locations. Locals and tourists alike flock to Lola for its fun atmosphere, sushi, and inventive cocktail list, but the martini is not to be missed. Try it extra dirty with house-made feta olives, which will make your brine (and cheese) dreams come true." - Anna Darrow

A Couple Glitzy Restaurants Eke Out a Few Stars in ‘the Seaport We Deserve’ - Eater Boston

"A relative of Nantucket’s Lola 41, Lola 42 replicates that restaurant’s so-random-it-works combination of American comfort food and sushi. While it’s not a place for sushi snobs, its successes include an Anata roll with spicy tuna and flavor that stands out and lifts the roll above generic territory. The rest of the menu is an incoherent assortment with pleasant surprises, including the Lola burger, scallop and shrimp with coconut curry, and lobster fried rice. One star out of four — fair." - Dana Hatic

Didn’t have a Reservation, but got to sit at the chalkboard, the bar vibe gets really nice on the weekends, good crowd to network!! The poke nachos are the best I had so far in Boston city, our server namesake Sebastián was a great guy!

Katherine Pasquale

Google
We had Dana as our server. She was absolutely amazing and so personable!! The food was so great and we had an amazing experience. We will be back

Came into Lola last weekend with my date and had Sebastian as my server. He treated us with such respect and like a true gentleman. I’ll be asking for him next time! There are no words to describe the sushi at Lola42 it’s even better than at the other locations! Sebastian Aguirre Ramirez :)

Google
Lola chicken lettuces cups are to die for, the service in this place is fast and attentive, they always keep the table clean and ready for the next course, if you are looking for a family dinner in town, this is the spot, our server Sebastian was very attentive, his cheerful attitude is contagious and makes the whole experience very enjoyable!!

We had an amazing dining experience at Lola42! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our server, Sebastian Aguirre, went above and beyond he was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations that we absolutely loved. His friendly personality and professionalism made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Highly recommend both the restaurant and Sebastian for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!

I had such a wonderful experience at Lola 42! The atmosphere was vibrant yet comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. What really made the evening special was our bartender, Sebastian. He was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a genuine warmth that made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. He made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. Thank you, Sebastian, for making our dinner at Lola 42 so memorable we’ll definitely be back!

If you’re looking for a spot in Boston’s Seaport with killer Asian fusion vibes, Lola 42 is where it’s at. It’s right by the water and offers a hip and fun atmosphere that’s hard to beat. On my last visit, I dove into one of their sushi rolls, and just what you’d expect from a top-notch sushi spot. But the real deal dish is their shrimp and crab fried rice. It’s a massive bowl brimming with rich flavors and generous chunks of seafood. Trust me, finishing it in one sitting is a challenge, but hey, that just means you’ve got lunch sorted out for tomorrow. The service was top tier and I really want to go back to try the tuna burger. Looked interesting to me.

Google
This is the place!! The atmosphere is just amazing, food was so good, every single item on the menu is delicious, and of course the drinks are spectacular they have a variety of alcohol. My favorite drink was the spicy flamingo. Our server Sebastian just made the whole experience 10/10, his recommendations were so good I already want to go back!!

Yelp
When a local foodie, who I really respect, tells you that LoLa 42 serves Boston's best sushi, you follow up. Can't say if it's the best, but it made for a most satisfying lunch on a Saturday. Our server who was also the bartender, mixes up some very creative craft cocktails. For starters, time for sushi. The Hola Sake and Snowy Mountainn rolls were delish. Since I was on a sushi mission, I ordered the Sushi Bistro Box. With its small containers for different entrees, it packs lots of flavors and textures. This and the Bistro Bemto allow you to sample many items on the menu. As I shared before, they serve great cocktails, but at $20 a piece, that adds up, even at lunch. Our lunch for three before tip was $276.

Yelp
I had a reservation at Lola 42 on a Friday night during graduation season, we walked through the curtains in the front to an expansive dining room with a great view of the water. Our party of 2 was seated at the sushi bar and after several minutes we noticed an off-putting odor, similar to that of a public restroom. It wasn't bad enough to ask for a change of seating but it did hinder our experience slightly. Our waiter introduced herself and took our drink order, I settled on a refreshing craft beer from Japan that was light and crisp. There was a wide variety of pan-asian dishes, elevated American classics and sushi options but we decided on sharing a few appetizers and sushi rolls. The first things that appeared was the toro tartare, which was served in a sesame cannoli shell and it was a great bite. Next came the poke nachos, which was four large wonton chips that was topped with tuna, avocado crema, eel sauce and greens. Both appetizers were tasty but we felt that the value wasn't there for either. Lastly we ordered two of their speciality rolls, which was good but unremarkable compared to other sushi restaurants in Boston.

Yelp
One of my favorite spaces in seaport for sushi and cocktails! Highly suggest! I also suggest sitting outside as the view of seaport is awesome

Yelp
Good ambience, dim lighting, and great food. Went for a birthday dinner and service was great. They even printed special menus that said "happy birthday ___". Prices are on the higher side, but I wasn't shocked about this. Shrimp and crab fried rice it was really good but not spicy at all given the warning on the menu... I was a little disappointed about that. Beef bulgogi very flavorful and did match the spice warning on the menu. The sushi was so fresh. Tres leches cake was one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Drinks were hit and miss, several drinks with sour flavor profiles but still ok. It did get noisier during busy hours (6-8 p.m.) but nothing out of the ordinary for a busy restaurant. I really enjoyed my meal here and would definitely recommend for special occasion or if you just don't mind paying the price.

Yelp
Food was FABULOUS 10/10, service was great form the moment we sat down we felt cared for and welcomed. Ambiance was awesome with loud fun music in the evening and lots of interesting art work on the walls (PG13 if you catch my drift). The menu was personalized for our engagement which was super fun!! Started out with truffle fries, you can't go wrong!! Crab Rangoon was DELICIOUS, perfectly hot and filled with delicious bites of crab. The sushi was amazing, my favorite was the eel roll- if you like eel DEFINITELY get this one. The tabiko with quail egg was also fun! Miso soup came with a lot of tofu which I liked!! Fried rice was INCREDIBLE- surprisingly a generous amount of crab and shrimp!! I liked our view as well- next to the windows and a nice view of the harbor. Would definitely come back! Sort of reminds me of Toca Modera with the loud music and the fun vibe!

Yelp
This spot is such a vibe! Right near the water and tons of other places, this was the perfect spot for dinner. We had originally made reservations for 9 pm because that's all they had. But, they called us the day of the reservation and said they had some openings so we moved up the reservation. I loved this! Made us think that they cared about us and our reservation. We sat at a high top in the bar area, which was right up my alley. The music was on point, lights were dimmed, trendy restaurant and menu looked delicious right off the bat. I started with a margarita and my friend got the hibiscus blueberry margarita. Both were very strong. They came out fast, so props to the waitress and bartender on this. For dinner, I got the rainbow roll. It was pricey, but it was very good. Also, service came out very fast. It tasted very fresh, which I always appreciate. I wish the rolls was a little bigger, but again, it was good so of course I ate it all. Totally a spot you need to check out!

Yelp
Lola 42 in Boston Seaport is undeniably a local gem that has become my go-to spot for the perfect hangout/dining experience. This is one of the premier spots for a weekend date night. But, you really can't go wrong with stopping by here any time of day. The vibrant atmosphere and chic decor create the perfect setting for any occasion. The bar, has an extensive selection of cocktails and attentive bartenders, which adds a lively energy to the place. The staff at Lola 42 are not just service providers; they elevate the entire dining experience with their warmth and professionalism. Now, let's talk about the mac and cheese--it's phenomenal. Cheesy, nutty, buttery, indulgent, and loaded with flavor, the pasta has the perfect consistency with a crispy breadcrumb like topping. It's a must-try that keeps me coming back for more. Lola 42 serves a wide array of Asian fusion food options, and everything on the menu is pretty darn good. Love this spot!

Yelp
Clown sushi restaurant -looks and feels more Like an Italian ! The food was decent Service was pretty good for a 10-top But when you're spending bull market prices for off-brand decor and janky atmosphere you have to do better Case in point : sake served in wine glasses

Yelp
Lola 42 was outright amazing. We had a wonderful server I think his name was Sebastian who made our dinning experience wonderful. We had a little bit of everything. All the food is extremely fresh and has a wonderful twist. The otoro had to of been cut fresh that day it was buttery and tasted so well. The chicken lettuce wraps were my favorite a garlicky sweet soy sauce with the juicy not dry chicken and fresh peppers made it an amazingly refreshing taste. Sushi is top notch but don't sleep on the entrees! Ribs were absolutely delicious the hoisin sauce was a great touch but would have liked to see the ribs a little bit more tender.

Yelp
Took my gf here for a nice night on the town. While it was a pricey menu, the food exceeded our expectations and left us satisfied. We started the night off with a crab Rangoon appetizer which was delicious. We also tried the Chirashi Maki, Maruko, and Asahi rolls which impressed us both. The fish was fresh and the sushi was rolled to perfection. If you're looking for a nice dinner/experience consider Lola 42. Hats off to the chef.

Yelp
Very over priced, and left feeling cheated. Food quality good but not superior, and small portions. Service attentive but not special. Very good location. Never a good customer experience leaving thinking you've been taken. 6 people, limited alcohol and an $800 check. My local sushi restaurant is far superior. Beware.

Yelp
Was in Boston for work and my coworkers suggested that we go to Lola 42 for dinner. The restaurant was very busy which made me hopeful. We had a reservation so we were promptly seated. The vibe was really great with a very warm and hip atmosphere. We ordered so many things but the. Hoisin ribs, tuna nachos were my FAVE. The ribs were sticky and tender, sweet and delicious. The tuna nachos were made with fried wonton skins and absolutely smothered with tuna avocado and the works. I've had tuna nachos before, but this by far were the most delectable. I really loved every bite. The drinks were very delicious and strong too. I will for sure be back.

Yelp
Lunchtime review- The ambiance was nice, for the location I was expecting a bit more but over all it was decent . The location is beautiful, right by the waterfront making it a great spot for a nice date night . Food- I am basing my review on a single visit. The food was good, it had a nice kick and good flavor. The portion was satisfying . I definitely want to go back to check out the dinner menu and vibe, not sure how soon, but I'll be back.

Yelp
Great service, food and interior design! I love coming here with my boyfriend or a group of friends. They can accommodate everyone's needs and all the waitstaff is incredibly attentive. Recently came again with 5 other girls and had the best time. Our waiter even took group pictures for us! Will come again (hopefully for the BOGO Sundays!)

Yelp
Lola 42 is a gorgeous restaurant walking distance to the Boston Harbor. Inside is beautifully decorated and the outside patio overlooks the water. The staff was so friendly and sweet and the menu was really fun! Some of the highlights from the menu that are different from anything I've ever seen were the Poke Nachos and the Ahi Tuna Burger. I was going for a simple lunch so I went with a edamame and sushi. The edamame was warm and had huge chunks of salt. The shrimp tempura came in spicy or sweet and I decided to do half-and-half. Both were absolutely delicious! The Asahi was so fresh and delicate. The overall meal was was amazing, the ambience was delightful, and the area was great!

Yelp
Food: 4.5/10 Atmosphere: 7.3/10 Service: 9.1/10 Bang for your buck: 6.2/10 The decor/atmosphere was well organized. The location is right next to the water amidst a lot of office buildings. Food was very subpar. We had ordered crab Rangoon, bulogi noodles, lobster fried rice and a salad. Drinks were good, nothing out of the average/ordinary. I would return only for the ambience and not for the food. The service staff was very attentive and helpful.
google avatar

Monique J.

Yelp
We had a work dinner on a Monday night here. The cell service is bad but they have free wifi & you don't need a password. The ambiance is cool; after a certain time, they turn the lights down. The decor is very elegant. I especially loved the chandeliers. The menu is extremely diverse. There's something for everyone. From pasta, to burgers, sushi, steaks, salads and soup. They definitely put their own flavor and creativity on each dish.

Yelp
I had a company group dinner here on my last night in Boston. It's located near the Boston pier with a great view. Because Covid was still around at the time, we decided to have dinner outside. While it's a pretty cool place to have dinner outside, it was a bit chilly that night and I would have enjoyed the experience a lot more should I had brought a jacket with me. They offer two different kinds of menus. One is your typical bistro/tapa and the other is Sushi. I ordered some sushi rolls because I heard they do it well. And they turn up pretty good. While everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, I tend to find them a bit pricy. The service was ok considering we have a big group. I assume we may come back again on my next trip.

Yelp
Server arrived and took our appetizer order and at that time we asked about splitting an entree. Server confirmed it was big enough to split. Appetizer was delivered by another staff person and server never came back. After waiting quite a while we then asked hostess if she could have our server come back to take our order. Hostess left to find server but then returned to take our order. We ordered entree specifying it was to split but food arrived in single bowl. We asked if the kitchen could split the entree for us and THEN the server FINALLY reappeared to ask if we were okay with a $5 split charge that she never mentioned when we asked her before about the size of the entree??? Yeah, the entree is $50 and is already at the table so we are okay with your $5 up charge! Another up charge was added for "rocks" with a bourbon we ordered and when we inquired about it the server was completely rude claiming it was a bigger pour and then walked away in a huff. Food was good but service was atrocious! Other tables around us with different servers were getting much better service.
google avatar

Yelp
Just be prepared to shell out money for overpriced mediocre sushi. For example their California rolls are 22$ (of course we didn't order it). We only went to try it because of their bogo deal sunday sushi deal hence why I didn't rate it lower than 3. The restaurant itself is beautiful and maybe their other food is better?
google avatar

Carolyn N.

Yelp
Amazing place for Asian fusion. We went as a group after our conference and had awesome drinks and delicious small plates. We really enjoyed the lacquered ribs, the pork belly, and the various sushi rolls.

Dasia D.

Yelp
Usually I am not one to write reviews, however when our server Ginely reminded us how far one review can go for a business I decided to do so. A much needed date night, my boyfriend and I split a bunch of apps. We were recommended the Hoisin Baby Back Ribs and Edamame by our server - both were excellent. We also got the Chicken Lettuce Cups and the Grilled Octopus. We both enjoyed this meal over a bottle of Albarino and the amazing vibe of the restaurant. All of the dishes we ordered caught our eyes and tastebuds. But the one that I would definitely recommend getting if I had to choose would be the Hoisin Baby Back Ribs. The flavors were amazing and paired well together with this cut of meat. Overall, the service was amazing, the location was stunning, and the food!!!! Chefs kiss! - we will definitely be coming back when their patio opens up and requesting our previous server, Ginely.

Yelp
Me and a few friends came to dinner her last night based on a recommendation. The location of the restaurant is very nice. There is an indoor area and a patio, I sat inside but I would try to get a reservation for the patio if you think the wether would be nice. The inside was nice but nothing special. There is a bar with TV's playing sports which could be nice if you just wanted to walk in but throws off the vibe a little in my opinion. Our waiter was nice but seemed really tired. It was a Sunday night so I'm sure the staff were ready for the night to be over. This didn't bother my friends and I but I can see how it could possibly bother others. To start off me and my friends got drinks. They got two cocktails that were very strong and I got a mock tail which was delicious. It was sweet so if you don't enjoy a sweet drink I would go for something else. Then we ordered the salmon tartare and edamame. The salmon tartare was excellent. The fish tasted very high quality and the crispy rice added good texture. One of the best things we got. The edamame was fine. Personally I thought it tasted just like the store bought and at the very least could have had more salt. Next we ordered three sushi rolls and realized we would probably need at least two more so we got a total of 5. The best was the maguro with truffle oil and the Chirashi Maki. I thought the Green Light was really interesting just not my personal favorite. And the Tsukiji was good as well. Finally I thought the Snowy Mountain would have been my favorites but it was a little sweet and therefore not my favorite. For dessert with got the pretzel parfait and it was great. You could tell it was made from scratch and the right combination of sweet and salty. It is rather large so you only need one for a group of 2-3. The three of us walked away comfortably full with this amount of food so I would recommend the same amount for a group of three. Overall our meal ended up coming out to about $90 each before tip which I feel like was a little high for the experience and the food but the quality of the fish here was in fact very good. If I went back I would get a cocktail, the salmon tartare, the maguro with truffle oil and the Chirashi Maki, and the pretzel parfait as well as request to sit outside.

Bea W.

Yelp
Enjoyed good sushi - they had toro tonight. New waiter in training who made a bunch of missteps - but we laughed them off. Hopping this evening (music was a bit loud though) and full of many tables but we had finished our business so all good there too.

Yelp
Bayside cafe with outdoor seating adjoining a park. Small portions, akin to Parisian portions. Innovative flavor combos. Two separate kitchens prepare the world menu and sushi menu at different speeds, leading to different party members being served at different times and some awkwardness. Despite casual demeanor, staff wants you to know that the this is a reservation only place and they will just this once deign to seat you without a reservation if you can be out the door by the time the Nobs arrive. However, food is unique, flavorful, and fresh, compensating somewhat for pretense. Wine list excellent, cocktails excellent, beer list so poor as to make a beer snob weep. Quick service on our visit. One floor dining space, however tight seating outdoors would make it challenging for a wheelchair or walker. Bathrooms accessible. Despite protests of limited seating/reservations only, place was about 1/3rd empty when we departed 1915 on a Saturday night, so obviously just so much pretense you can and should ignore and enjoy the food!
google avatar

Mari T.

Yelp
This place was fancy and popping! Tuesday night but the restaurant was full. The table is small and we are a bit close to other tables so if you are ordering a lot, try to get the booth. Food was great. Japanese, Korean fusion. Tasty rich flavors. The fries for the burger was the best...!
google avatar

Robby D.

Yelp
I came here on a rainy Monday and it was about half full. From what I hear, you'd usually need a rez. I got the chicken lettuce cups, yellowtail sashimi, capt'n Jose roll, and rainbow roll. The lettuce cups were delicious. I highly recommend them. Everything else was also yummy. My main highlight was the service. My main server was great, and the way the other employees stepped in when she was with other tables was very noticeable to me. I haven't quite seen a support system quite like this and personally loved it.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes I have eaten here. Yes I was on a date. Yes I payed for both of us, even the drinks. Yes it was expensive. Yes it was everything I expected. If you don't eat at high class establishments often please do not start with this one. I noticed some children hanging around wearing baseball caps which is not allowed per the website. If you want to enjoy the food of establishments like Lola 42 you must must must follow the proper dress attire! The staff is respectful as expected but did not help in dimming the lights over my table. I am often worried that others will notice my slight fidgets such as tapping my fork on the table. I do not like when the lights are bright and can show this ugly habit of mine. Sometimes I wonder if I judge others too much such as when I mentioned the childish baseball caps. I don't want to be judged for my fidgets, why do I just them so much?

Yelp
Went to Lola 42 Boston this past weekend. Not only was the restaurant amazing and the atmosphere was a vibe, the food was the main attraction. The Yutaka Roll and Snowy Mountain were the two best rolls on the menu and for mains, don't miss out on the Salmon LoMein. The chef and the service were above the normal. The hostess was friendly and helpful when we were looking for a spot to continue drinking. Easiest 5* I have given by far. Thank you to the team and the chef.

Yelp
Fantastic service and food! Very hip and fun atmosphere. Did not know they had an outdoor area. But we will definitely be back !!

Yelp
The place has a nice location. It has a small patio. We were able to sit on the patio without reservation. We tried their sushi and everything tastes great. Our server was nice.

Yelp
Overpriced for what it is, and very underwhelming. The inside is very modern and pretty, the bar in the back has a cute vibe, and the outside patio is right on the water. I ordered the wagyu tartare crispy rice, fries with a side of both chipotle and truffle aioli, and spicy tuna hand rolls. I thought all the beef and the fish were fresh, and the flavors of the sauces were all unique. However- there was a huge grasshopper on our table at one point, we were not allowed to sit outside because of the "potential for rain", and as previously stated, every item was way overpriced (very small portions too). I wouldn't return simply because the food is not worth the price.
google avatar

Jane F.

Yelp
I guess if your are paying for atmosphere this place is ok. The sushi roll are small overpriced and the sushi rice does not hold together. The Hong Kong Chicken with lettuce is so salty ..tastes like pure soy sauce . The heirloom tomatoes with watermelon was a tiny overpriced portion of mealy mush , please take it off the menu. The ahi poke were yummy. Sadly Lola 42 misses the mark and fails at their concept. Bummer a waste of $300 for a family of 3.
google avatar

Charlene E.

Yelp
I so badly wanted to love this place but the food was such a letdown. This place has a very dim and moody ambiance yet very lively and loud. Tables are close together but the spot is intimate and right by the water. I had ordered the gnocchi bolognese and it was quite the miss for me, perhaps I just don't like gnocchi after my 3rd attempt but I have had better gnocchi. The cheese was way too sharp, I found the dish overall to have no real flavor, and I have the cilantro/parsley soap gene and didn't realize that would be a garnish in this dish. I also ordered the king crab rangoon and it was very underwhelming. I expected a crab rangoon like I've never had it before with big chunks of crab, instead, it was regular crab rangoon and I've had better crab rangoon for a fraction of the price so I was HIGHLY disappointed because the "KING CRAB" rangoon was overstated and way overpriced. I'm not sure if I'd visit again, maybe for drinks and vibes. Also, didn't understand why the waiter took so long to bring the bill then took the bill from our table after we tipped. I did not appreciate that and I found it highly inappropriate to clear the tip before the patron leaves.
google avatar

My-Linh D.

Yelp
Went for a bogo deal for the sushi rolls. The cost was still expensive after the deal. We got 4 rolls and 2 fries and the cost was $160. With the discount it was $115. It's a great place to hang out but I think the quality of the sushi isn't worth for its cost.

Yelp
I'm dating myself, but if LoLa 42 were a comic strip character, it would be Snoopy as Joe Cool. Attitude, ambivalence with a thick layer of ironic affectation. Our server showed up in jeans and a tank top, perhaps on her way to grab Shake Shack take out on the way home from her Econ class - this was after we sat for 10 mins wondering which of the staff standing around would actually acknowledge our presence. I honestly thought she was a busser. The food is solid - small portions and objectively high prices (we live in Scottsdale), but the service is one where, as a patron, you're made to feel like the server is doing you a favor by acknowledging the table to go over the menu and take your order. Also, as mentioned by other reviewers, there is an orchestrated effort to inflate bills through the bar. Want a gin & tonic? They used Monkey 47 to boost the bill without asking. Do they use Stagg for whiskey sours or 1942 for margaritas? Shady at best, borderline criminal. To add insult to injury, we had a birthday celebration in which they customized the menus (nice touch), and they charged him for the dessert. Stay away unless you like lighting $100 bills on fire.

Yelp
The food was soo good. Was very busy and we had to wait for our table but the staff was great.and I was concerned since it was pricey would the food be good but it was worth it for a nice night out !

Yelp
I took my girlfriend to LoLa 42 for our anniversary after she was away giving humanitarian aid. Our server, Ginly, was amazing! Gave us the best menu recommendations (shoutout to her for putting us onto the Greenlight), gave us our drinks quickly, and made the night really special. She was fantastic! My girlfriend enjoyed herself so much we decided to make it a regular date night spot.

Yelp
I came here a couple days ago with my friend, it was both of our first time here. First, the vibe was so cute food & cocktail presentation & we had sooooo many questions about the menu & food items our server Ginely was so patient & kind to us. She gave amazing food & drink recommendations & we were both so pleased! I tried the Aphrodite cocktail & it was amazing. we also got a couple desserts as well after dinner, overall i would say the service AND food here are more than amazing.

Yelp
For my money, I would prefer a nice steak house. This place is very expensive at about $100 per person. The menu is a little weird because the classics section has both entrees and shareable appetizers. Also, I didn't care for the octopus carpaccio. Not much flavor at all. Service was excellent.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice and the service was next level. However when it came to the quality of the food it lacked. I ordered the grilled 7x Wagyu and it was not a cut of wagyu steak by any means as I've had this cut at multiple restaurants. It was extremely tough and only had flavor when dipped in the sauce, which was fantastic. We also had the king crab ragoons which were the best thing. The sushi was mediocre for the price. Our most expensive meal in Boston and probably the least satisfying.

Yelp
..yeah, it's ok. It's expensive and I felt like most people were there just to feel that vibe. It's not tasteful expensive though. Music is seriously loud, servers are very skimpily dressed (no shame in that--but if everyone is wearing all black crop tops with skin showing, it makes me feel like that's /required/ and not a personal preference), sushi is fine but too creative and the flavors clash and you can barely taste the fish (which is fresh and a shame). Apps were very mid. Cocktails are good. Wouldn't come back personally. It feels like every other insanely expensive seaport place.

Yelp
I want to preface this with the fact that the food at LoLa tastes very good. The service is meh (not friendly at all, rush you through your meal). My biggest issue with this place - which at one time was my favorite restaurant in Boston - is the manipulation and exploitation of their menu. 1) they offer a red wine by the glass which they list on the menu as "screaming eagle'" It is in fact not screaming Eagle but a different wine brand (Leviathan) made by the same wine maker. Good wine? Yes, solid. Worth $25 a glass and the deceptive name on the menu? No. 2) 4 years ago the lobster fried rice at this place was $39. Today it was $72. Wtf are we doing here? It's fried rice! I know the price of lobster is up but $72 for a dish I could get in China town for $26?! Absurd. Won't be dining here for at least 12 months.
