There may not be a better place than this in Mt P. Ask for Courtney make fantastic martinis. I reccomend the cavatelli w shrimp double the shrimp. Never had a bad experience.

Google
We absolutely loved it here! Ordered 3 pastas and all were delicious. Also ordered a margarita pizzas which was delicious! Had the chocolate tart and olive oil cake - delicious - also great wine/glass options. Wonderful service and nice clean ambience. Highly recommend.

Google
The best I can say is that it was "okay". We enjoyed the wine and cocktail that we got. The rosemary bread was "okay". The atmosphere was what I was expecting which is good. But neither of us were too impressed by our dishes. I got the pasta of the day which was seafood based and Aimee got a gnocchi dish. We both agreed the dishes were "okay" but have no intent to return. Can't really find another word to describe it, as it wasn't a negative experience... but for a $105 dinner for two that included 1 drink each, bread, and one entree each, I can't say I was impressed.

The food at Lola Rose is very good, as we expected. We have been to The Grocery and had a wonderful meal there, so we anticipated good things. We were not disappointed. Focaccia was fresh and delicious. Margherita pizza was very good. The special fish dish with saffron was excellent! Desserts were tasty and well-portioned. Service was friendly, and ambiance was warm and inviting. We will definitely go back! Update: SALT! We don't know if other diners have noticed, but Charleston area restaurants have really started to oversalt food. It almost feels like all the owners got together and decided that since salt is cheaper than herbs and spices that actually impart flavor, they would all just start using a lot more salt, and since everyone was doing it, no one would notice. Well, we NOTICED. Unfortunately, 1 dish at Lola Rose at a recent visit was so salty it was inedible. The replacement dish was better, but could still have cut the salt by a third. Maison made the same mistake with the steak, the sauce and the fries in the steak frites. And others have done the same. We hope other people will notice and complain. Salt CANNOT take the place of flavor folks! Please stop oversalting the food!

Kevin Johnson has been a mentor of mine in the culinary world since the early 2000's. I've always enjoyed going to his restaurants. My wife and I love The Grocery. When we heard he had a new restaurant in Mt Pleasant, we knew we needed to get in asap. Finally got a chance to go recently on my birthday and of course it didn't disappoint. Food was phenomenal. Service was great, and it was Kevin's son who took such great care of us. Highly recommend, and can't wait to go back!

The hostess was great and I asked her what her favorites were. She said the fluffy cheese with hot honey and rosemary focaccia bread. It was excellent!

Google
Great to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Chef and Serving Staff are great!!! Food was amazing. Have done two dinners and their Sunday Brunch!!! Not just convenient, but competes with some of the best downtown or in south Mount Pleasant. Great golden tilefish!! Salads are fresh and flavorful. Able to accommodate for dietary restrictions. Don’t miss.

Google
We had great time dinning at the restaurant. We ordered the rosemary focaccia bread, beet root salad and mushroom pizza. All of these dishes were delicious. The hostess was friendly and very helpful. We were visiting Charleston for the first time, so did asked her all sorts of touristy questions. She was patient and graciously answered all. Thanks!!

Yelp
Lola Rose for the win. We were a little hesitant since this restaurant is in a strip mall, but let me tell you, it did not disappoint. They make all their own pastas, WAIT FOR IT including Gluten Free (GF pasta is only made at their sister restaurant called 'The Grocery'). Our waitress was Ava and she was fabulous. I started with the Cesar - the dressing had a nice mild taste, I felt like it was a mix of Cesar and creamy Italian. I loved it. Justin was ahhhh. Lol. But the lettuce was fresh, crisp and green. My main was the sea scallops - delish! Justin started with a special app "soft shell crap". Of course it was gone. His dinner was a spinach Rigatoni Verdi. He said it was very good. We will be back and must try their other restaurant. Oh and their pizza oven was imported from Italy. Can't get more Italian than that!!!! Really cute tshirts for the staff. #charleston #lolarose #thegrocery #charlestonfoodie #charlestonfoodandwine

Yelp
Simply wonderful! I'm confused as to why this place doesn't have higher reviews. Stopped in for brunch and we had The Limosa () and the fried chicken sandwich. Holy cow. The Limosa you can easily put a few down. Think crisp, light and pool side refreshing. The sandwich was fab as well. Chicken was tender, mozzarella so fresh and the bread was divine. Had a side beet salad which was also lovely and refreshing. One member in my part had a gluten allergy so it awesome they have GF options. The inside is trendy and I can certainly see sitting at the bar for a date night. The covered patio is where we sat and I loved it. An elevated casual ambience with string lights. Also great if you have kids. Our waiter was kind and patient. The bartender is also top notch. We will def be back for dinner as there are so many items on the menu (cocktails included) I now need to try.

Yelp
This is our 2nd visit to Lola Rose. The first was soon after opening and we found the food just so-so. We decided to try again last night. 7:30 reservation, but weren't seated until close to 8. The waiter took forever to show up. Brought drinks out in 3 groups (there were 6 of us). Forgot the wine opener, brought 1 drink wrong. Took our order, lost our order, took our order again. Salad had zero taste...I think the dressing was water. Pizza was barely warm. Honestly can't understand the 5 start reviews others have given!

Yelp
This is a great local place in Mount pleasant! Why we waited so long to try it will remain a mystery! My wife came here for brunch while I was away and raved about the experience so we decided to try it for dinner with the in laws. Overall great experience, sitting outside on the covered patio in a light rain storm was fantastic. The drinks are amazing, and the menu offers a wide range of items. The in laws both ordered the chicken which was mouth watering and crispy. I had the risotto, a bit too creamy but still very good with the shrimp and my wife had the white pizza which she loved. We will definitely be back for more food and drinks as it's so close to us! Give them a try! Cheers!

Yelp
Wow. Folks. What a surprise. Maybe a hidden gem. Limoncello spritz is a must try. They make a mean martini too. Do not miss the Patatas Bravas. Prob best thing I had. The sweet potatoe hummus was so good I liked it. I don't do hummus. To be honest the meatballs are a little controversial. They were cooked perfect. Something about them I was not crazy about. I love the meatballs at Brico Braco. My wife said I am actually crazy because there are better. She doesn't like red meat and she finished the meatballs and the sauce. @taylored.drink Shout out to Taylor! Ask for her. She knows her stuff.

Yelp
We loved this spot. The bread here is so good, which is how you know the pizza is going to be great. We started with the fluffy cheese that was delish paired with the fresh warm focaccia. We then got the arancini, market salad, pepperoni pizza, pear and prosciutto pizza and ham and onion pizza with béchamel sauce. I'd honestly come back just for the arancini. It was packed with flavor and the lightest breading. The market salad was also amazing, our only complaint was we wish there was more! Pizzas also great. We wish this spot was closer to us so we could go more frequently.

Yelp
Service was good, food was tandem we enjoyed it a lot. I think they are a little pricey and Happy Hour ends at 5:30. Too early.

Yelp
After 8 years of visiting the area, we stumbled upon Lola Rose this trip and boy were we happy. Ask for Jacob, he was one of the best servers we've had in the area. Very knowledgeable and we took his recommendations on food and he was spot on. My wife had Rigatoni Carbonara and it got better every bite I took. I had a mushroom pizza and added pepperoni on the servers rec, and took some home so I didn't look like a pig eating the whole thing! I ate it three hrs later.. Reasonably priced, good atmosphere. Will go back, maybe for a second time this trip. 5 star.

Yelp
Love this patio for an afternoon out. Get the fluffy cheese and/or a pizza! Great craft beer selection and really good cocktails!
google avatar

Autumn C.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised and amazed. Went here as a last resort after everything else was closed and could not be happier that we went! The appetizers were outstanding, pasta was so delicious, and the dessert was honestly some of the best I've had in a long time. Very original dessert options. Don't think twice about coming here!

Yelp
It's great to have a developing local area for food! The restaurant is cute and decorated in a very modern, calm and soothing way. It has a very clean look. The tables are close by and when they are full, there isn't a lot of privacy, but it makes sense when you are trying to serve as many as possible. The service was great. We had a lovely young lady that spent a few moments chatting with us. That made us feel very welcome and cared for. The food; not as great as I had hoped. The appetizers were wonderful. We had the whipped cheese with focaccia, which was wonderful. The bread was warm and soft and the whipped cheese had a honey topping. Wonderful! We also had the calamari and clam appetizer. This was good. Not amazing, but decent. It was very crispy, almost over cooked for calamari. The main meal we ordered gnocchi with mushrooms and the mushroom pizza. We shared our entrees. Neither was good. It wasn't bad, but well below my expectations. Everything was very sharp tasting. Almost vinegary. The gnocchi became unpalatable after a few bites. The pizza was subpar for an Italian restaurant. The desserts were good. I chose the butterscotch budino and my friend had the strawberry tea cake. Both desserts were good. The main issue is the quality for the cost. As prices everywhere have gone up, we can expect to pay high prices but then we for those prices, I expect amazing food too. I was disappointed with our entrees mainly but I'm willing to return and give it another chance.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. You can sit in the dining room, at the Bar or on the covered patio, which we did. We ordered appetizers of clam and calamari. It was good, give it a 5. We went at lunch time, limited menu. We both got the Bolognese Bianco. My wife really liked it, I thought it had a funny aftertaste, not a fan. We had drank ice water and my wife had one drink, meal came to almost $100. I would go again, but next time for dinner which has more of a variety.

Yelp
This was a much much needed addition to a North Mount Pleasant! So excited this place opened up and is thriving. Been there twice already cannot say enough Great things about the food, staff, service, aesthetic. Lovely decor... Great owners... Great management. Can't wait to go back again.

Yelp
Pizza was so good my wife and I ordered a second one immediately after the first. Drinks were great and service was amazing. The server was so kind and friendly. The restaurant itself has a very calm vibe. We will definitely be returning

Yelp
We were very excited for this new Italian/Pizza place to open up across from Costco. We decided on stopping by before 5pm knowing they might be busy as a new spot in the area. On coming in, the smells were wonderful and we were getting hungry. The very young hostess barely looked up when we walked in. The bar was full, but there were several empty tables in the dining area. Eventually, she graced us with a greeting and we asked if a table for 2 could be accommodated. She didn't answer, just looked down at her screen and kept touching buttons without communicating anything to us. Eventually, she said unless we had a reservation, it would be at least an hour before we could be seated. No options were offered, not outdoor seating, no taking our name to text us later - nothing. The empty tables were never explained. OK, I understand this is a new place and probably going to be busy - that's not the reason for the bad review. It was the total lack of communication or any attempt to be helpful that was off-putting. Staff should be better trained to make a more positive first impression. You only have one chance at that and as far as we're concerned, they blew it.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
Best desserts in MTP. I had the Orecchiette pasta dish and it was outstanding. Did I mention the dessert was great and the ambiance was laid-back yet sophisticated. Waitress was very helpful with suggestions. Great neighborhood place.

Yelp
We had the BEST dinning experience tonight at Lola Rose, a new place in Mt. Pleasant, the bar, dinning room and outside space were very comfortable! The food was different but, FANTASTIC!! We had the peach salad, Cesar salad, the meatballs and the eggplant pizza it was ALL better than good and on top of great food the staff behind the bar was phenomenal, we came at the height of a rush and the guys never looked like they were in the weeds and had just THE BEST attitude!! We will definitely be back! Well Done!!
google avatar

Yelp
What a hidden gem of a restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food. My husband and I came here for a date night and sat at the bar. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I asked her if it was always this busy and she said this was a slow night! Glad we were able to snag seats. Had a delicious rosemary focaccia with whipped "fluffy cheese" and spiced honey, the special appetizer which was a softshell crab, and the arancini which was fried cacio e pepe balls. We also tried the featured desert of the evening which was so yummy as well. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.
google avatar

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and made great suggestions. Food yummy as usual. Love their meatballs and flat bread pizza. Caesar salad had WAY too much dressing and parm cheese. Like a serious pike that was way unnecessary. Would love a peak at the hh menu. But surprised it was only from 4:00 - 5:30. Not sure the days either but for what they charge I would have hoped it would be a good list and longer time frame. Didn't like how the manager publicly corrected the bartender but she seemed nice after.

James J.

Yelp
Visited several times, tonite not really up to par. Service slow, food mediocre, ambience good.

Yelp
Great service, and really interesting twists on Italian pasta dishes. It's great to have a nice place like this in north Mt. P!

Melissa L.

Yelp
Delicious and a welcome addition to northern Mt Pleasant. Downtown restaurant quality in our neighborhood; grilled fish of the day and the risotto were excellent. Relaxed atmosphere, attentive service and a wonderful neighborhood atmosphere.
google avatar

Kamryn E.

Yelp
A great addition to North Mt P! The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing and super cute. We made a reservation and ended up getting there a half hour early and planned to just have a cocktail and wait until our reservation, but were seated right away which was a nice surprise! The outside patio and bar is all first come first serve - at 7pm the bar was full, but the patio had a few available tables. Definitely will sit outside next time as it gets cooler. We had a party of 6, sat at 7pm and didn't finish dinner until 9:45ish... plan and expect to wait, but wait with a smile on your face because they are NEW and figuring it all out :) our sweet waitress was triple sat and doing her best. The bar was backed up and they were all doing their best. Kitchen and food runners were doing their best. BE NICE :) or just wait until they have it all figured out (who does in life though??!!! Ha) Cocktails and wine were good! Quick table ratings of everything we ordered: - Sicilian lamb meatballs - 8/10 don't expect your grandmas meatballs (not traditional), very different flavor profile with a spicy kick - Fluffy cheese - 10/10, bread perfectly soft with a crispy outside and the dip was delicious (sweet and spicy combo). I would go and just get this and a glass of wine - Frito Misto - 10/10, great mix of fried clams, veggies and calamari and the aioli was different, but yummy - Italian Sausage Pizza - 5/10, underwhelming and the rapini (broccoli rabe) was very over powering - Prosciutto Pizza - 7/10, overall good - Rigatoni Verde - 8/10, a different take on bolognese and yummy Portions are on the smaller end for the pasta. Pizzas are individual pies. Apps were good size. We didn't get any of the desserts, maybe next time! Right now, they are not very gluten or dairy free friendly. Not a lot of GF options and dairy free was hard. They did mention ~not yet~ on the gluten free pasta so fingers crossed they have some soon! Will be back to try the entrees - hope they have rotating specials because I think this will become a go-to place for a lot of us who live near by.

Yelp
Amazing food, service and ambiance! We sat at the bar since there were only 2 of us and there was a small wait. Everyone seated at the bar was so friendly. Bartenders were super nice and very helpful when making food choices. We can't wait to return and bring our Awendaw friends! I'm attaching a few photos too!

Christine C.

Yelp
The menu service and drink service is as excellent. Run don't walk to this place. The frozen Mai tai and blood orange margarita is so good!
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that the quality of the food was good. The primary reason for the low rating was paying $116 for one appetizer and 3 personal pizzas it needs to be better than good. The second and bigger reason was the service. We sat on the covered patio and our server told me that my preferred drink selection was unavailable (Not believing that I went to the bar and indeed it was available). Secondly, he had no clue what was in the dishes, and we had to chase him down for a drink refill and again for the check. I don't object to paying for good food and good service, but this was far from being a good value. Rick S.

Dr. Warren D.

Yelp
My daughter and I were extremely disappointed with the food served. Even after complaining about one of the dishes that was exchanged, the food did not have the blend of spices and tastes that one would expect at a restaurant that sought future business. The different dishes that we had including the chicken were certainly not Italian or distinctive. Perhaps a good cookbook would help.

Jill N.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp scampi, which arrived with a pile of undercooked spaghetti and a few what looked like chopped up shrimp, super salty (and I love salt) all I could taste was oregano totally overwhelmed, I didn't eat it , it was inedible, the waitress asked if I wanted anything else but at that point my husband was half way through his chicken sausage pasta that was at least edible , the fluffy cheese appetizer was great, The server was obviously not happy once I said I didn't enjoy the food, didn't see her for a while and was not friendly delivering the check, there was however $13 dedicated from the bill which she noted, we were really hoping for a good experience here but we were disappointed and will not return.

Anna H.

Yelp
Sooo good!!! Came in late but staff was great and the food was amazing!! This was our 4th time being here and every time has been awesome!
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
Fun spot with Italian cuisine and wood fired pizza! Service was excellent too. Fully stocked bar allowed for many options.
google avatar

Scout F.

Yelp
MMMMMMMM.......fluffy cheese bread...... I like it here. It is a beautiful space with beautiful employees. Excellent service and food as well. I am impressed with how polite and kind the employees are considering the level of arrogance and entitlement they put up with from Mount Pleasant residents. Give Lola Rose a chance.

Danielle F.

Yelp
After reading some negative reviews I thought I would throw mine into the mix to hopefully offset some of them. We've been here three times now, and had great experiences all three of those times. The service has always been great and we have sat both at the bar and at a table. We now have a few favorites, especially the rigatoni, but all the food we have had has been tasty. The atmosphere is cozy inside and we haven't tried the outdoor seating yet but look forward to it. We have lived in the Mt Pleasant/Charleston area for over 30 years and we eat out very often all over town so we have a valid frame of reference. This is still fairly new in the N Mt Pleasant area which may account for initial growing pains. In any event, we love it here and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Awful service they are horrible. We came on after the bridge run looking for food and drinks and they turned us away...we aren't drunk.... We are at rooted bitches....
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
Excellent and reminds me on New Orleans . Can't wait for the Mt. Pleasant lunch! You can't go wrong with anything so order to share!

Debby W.

Yelp
I like the restaurant. We went with friends twice. Once for Happy Hour, the second time for dinner. The service was pretty good, not great but okay. The food was excellent. I had a really good pasta, my husband did as well and we shared a salad. We had a bottle of wine. We paid over $150 for dinner. Loved the atmosphere too. The downside for me, while the food is good I think it's overpriced. I'll go back but I do think they need to find a way to make the prices a bit more competitive.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
We were excited to have a new restaurant in Carolina Park. Atmosphere was nice, and we were seated fast. The service was just ok....The food was a bit disappointing, it was lacking flavor and bland. Hoping they take feedback and make some improvements to the dishes as we really wanted to love this place. We ate the hush puppies and focaccia appetizers, and for dinner the rigatoni verde and spaghetti with clams.

David O.

Yelp
Great food delivered with care. Made just for us takes a bit longer. Allowed for great conversation only made a bit difficult with the hard surfaces and noise of a full Friday night. As expensive as downtown but so much closer Will definitely go back earlier in the week so we can hear our conversations better. And will try the patio when weather warmer.

Yelp
We went to Lola Rose mainly because it's close to home. Why we'll go back again and again is because of the food and service. Brittany (sp?) was our server and she was great. She knew the menu inside and out and offered suggestions based on her first-hand knowledge. Her attentiveness was perfect. We started with the fluff cheese.. light, delicious and the bread; it is exceptional. Warm, fresh and melted in your mouth. The tuna tartar was delicious as well. It's served with freshly made chips that were generously salted making them a perfect companion to the tuna. Two of us shared the mushroom pizza topped with prosciutto and arugula (Brittany suggestion) and the rigotoni. The pizza dough and all pasta are made from scratch daily and it was all delicious. Exceptional is the only adjective for how the pasta is cooked. My wife got the shrimp and golden pilaf dish and it was very good. The shrimp could be seasoned a bit more, but the perfect bite of grape tomato, calamata olive, rice and shrimp was great. We ended with the zepolles with lemon custard and were delightfully stuffed and ready for a nap!

Yelp
I have been trying to find a craft bar in this area... boy did I find it!!! Drinks are amazing, and the bartenders knew what they were talking about. Been to so many places in Mount pleasant, and ordering an old fashion is like playing roulette. So glad I found this place with amazing drinks and service. Can't wait to go back and try the food, if it's half as good as the drinks, I will have found my new spot

murray f.

Yelp
Third visit, and have been happy with every one! Two times at the bar and once at a table with close friends. Different servers every time who have all been great. Every dish we have had has been delicious, from starters to desserts, including the house-made Limoncello! If dining on North Mt. P, this is becoming a go-to spot. Is it pricey, yes. This is Mt Pleasant. However it is reasonable for the quality and service.

Emmett M.

Yelp
Let's start with the good: the servers were polite and trying their best. The bad: just paid $130 for a bland mushroom and prosciutto pizza. Two glasses of overpriced no name wine. Gnocchi that was over boiled and some weird mushy consistently. A chopped salad that consisted of so much endive it was just a bowl of purple bitterness. It's a pizza place in a strip mall. Do better.

Hilary B.

Yelp
Been a huge fan of the grocery so was excited for this new sister restaurant. Worst pizza ever had, dry, zero flavor and barely any topping. Chopped salad not as menu described, mostly bitter radicchio, not lettuces. Didn't even look appetizing much less taste good. Need to improve menu descriptions. And food. Service good. New restaurant, hope they figure all out and improve.

jerry b.

Yelp
Experience up until getting entrees was pretty good. I ordered a sausage pizza my wife chicken /gnocchi dish. Was about 5:00pm September 1st. Place 25% full. Wait staff solid. Food arrives in a very few minutes. The sausage on my pizza is pink? My wife's chicken is clearly undercooked. As is translucent!? (I know!). I bring to attention of lovely waitress. She gets manager. We explain chicken appears under cooked as does sausage. He informs the sausage is house made and comes out pink? Then says the chicken is cooked appropriately. I try to reason with him told him he doesn't want customers eating under cooked chicken. I'm being very civil as I don't want to cause s scene. He tells us there's "nothing wrong with the children" . I pay the 100$ bill, tip the waitress 20$ and leave. Bottom line if you want to eat half cooked chicken and have a sweet waitress this is the place.

Dennis M.

Yelp
Hush. Nobody tell anyone about this hideaway place. Great vibe. Great food. Great wait staff.

katie h.

Yelp
Delicious food and good ambiance. Loved the bread with ricotta and the two pasta dishes we got. The meatballs were non traditional. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Reservations are hard to get but worth the wait or do the bar or patio as a walk in. Easy parking is a plus.

Matthew W.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious! We tried the Italian Sausage and the Pepperoni pizza. Great service and atmosphere!

Bk A.

Yelp
This is a nice new spot on the north end of Town that provides more up scale dining. While the current menus is somewhat limited and more common fair I did hear that it intends to change slightly once they get their feet under them to a truer Mediterranean fair including samplings from North Africa, Morocco, etc. Food is good, service is great, and I recommend reservations on the weekends.

Richard B.

Yelp
Great food, great service and wonderful owners who have a track record of fine dining at their other restaurant, the grocery in Charleston. Five stars for me.

Pat R.

Yelp
Service was great. Beyond that we were not impressed. The gnocchi was the worst we've ever had, heavy salt on all the food, watered down chicken broth taste and not enough for a child. We were with friends and all felt we were ripped off; too high prices for little quality & quantity. We won't be going back.
