Five Restaurants To Try in Summerlin This Weekend - Eater Vegas

"Lola’s — A Louisiana Kitchen offers a distinctly Cajun brunch menu. Bronzed catfish with Gouda grits and classic chicken and sausage jambalaya are just two of the favorite dishes. Bottomless mimosas are a must with any dish." - Krista Diamond

Google
Cute spot with nice view out back. Small portions for price. Food was good but I did not feel wowed by any means. We ate chicken and waffles and eggs benedict. The flavor on chicken and waffles was good however the chicken itself was kind of rubbery and fatty. The guava mimosa was different and I really enjoyed it.

Google
First time eating here and so very happy ! We had my sister's gender reveal and Jess and Andrea were soooooo PATIENT , KIND AND ATTENTIVE. We had a party of 21 and it was hectic but they served us with a smile ! The food was very yummy! However what made it effortless and smooth was the kindness of the staff. Good job girls and management for keeping such great service 🙏🏽

My mom and I came in to have lunch on an afternoon. I ordered the tuna steak and she ordered the cheeseburger. She absolutely loved her burger and said it's one of the best she's had. It was cooked perfectly and their secret sauce was great!! I ordered the tuna steak. Honestly, one of the best tuna steaks I've had in a loooong time!! The combination of the avocado mousse, tzatziki and smokey tuna steak was a flavor I didn't know I needed in my life 😩 it was delicious! For dessert we shared a creme brule. The custard was rich and the crust was good. It didn't have quite have that satisfying break, but the flavor made up for that. Lunch was well worth the price and I hope to try their breakfast options soon (served all day)

Google
The food and service was fantastic. I ordered the iced caramel macchiato, and the waffle and chicken with 2 sausage on the side. The chicken was probably one of the juiciest chicken I have tried. Our waiter was so nice and cute. It was our first time eating at Lola’s bistro, and she answered all our questions about the menu. Would definitely go again 10/10 recommend 👌🏾

Google
It is a charming spot; Lola's has inside and outside dining. Food was great, and there were lots of choices. Service was excellent!!

Google
We had a lovely brunch here. Food is fresh, coffee is fantastic, and service is very attentive. Great local spot!

Google
Came across this place by chance. It stays open later than places in the surrounding area. Asked to sit outside and had no idea it was on the water. The service was decent but not as warm as I like, but the food was outstanding! The whole bit! Drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. Delicious!! Have to go back for brunch.

Yelp
Such a nice brunch spot in Brownsville! It was really spacious and clean inside. The outdoor patio overlooking the waterfront was not open that day unfortunately but there were plenty of areas next to windows and natural light. The back room almost felt like an indoor patio. First off we started with the chocolate croissant. It was literally a chocolate explosion which is PERFECT! If my chocolate croissant isn't dripping with melted chocolate I don't want it! Next we ordered the chilaquiles and quiche. The quiche was more cheesy than egg-y so it almost felt like a pizza but it was still rich and creamy. The crispy golden potatoes on the side were delicious. The chilaquiles was good too, loved how tender the meat was. Our server was friendly and the food came out fast. Would definitely come back again hopefully when I can sit outside too!

Yelp
Service is on point. A good variety on the menu. I had the El Diablo and the spice was not over the top. Just enough.

Yelp
Every time we come to South Padre we have to eat here. It is an oasis of delicious culinary mastery. The service is incredible. Plus it's incredibly quick as well. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict is light, with the hint of lemon that brightens it. The poached eggs are done to perfection. The chocolate croissant reminds me of my time in France. You could cry over it.

Yelp
First time at Lola bistro and the ambiance and food was amazing! The service was quick and the staff was friendly. I would definitely come back again

Matthew G.

Yelp
The service was good for a first time visit. I ordered the Chocolate Croissants and Steak Frites. The croissants were pretty soft and the chocolate wasn't too sweet. I would say pretty well balanced. Would definitely get again! The steak was extremely chewy, and although it is only sirloin the choice of meat was not the best. For the price of the meal, it doesn't seem like it went towards a quality piece of meat. The garlic fries are pretty good. I would recommend them if you are on the fence about it. My mom got the Fish and Chips and I regretted not ordering that instead. The fish was VERY soft and the batter was light and crispy. I highly suggest getting this if you are looking for good fried fish. If you're looking for a place with an aesthetic look with some pretty decent food this is definitely the spot.

Yelp
. Good modern "Bistro" style eatery & bar. This place is extremely popular w/ locals. Some of the best non-greasy foods offered in this town are here. We both had the cheeseburgers, they were excellent but very big. Eclectic crowd of locals, border-crossers, & tourists. Dress casual; shorts to gowns w/ long gloves. Adequate parking lot, little shade. Prices in line. Nice waitstaff. I say "Try this newish place!' Rick .

Yelp
Food: We started with the drinks. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and my husband had a chamomile tea. The tea was good quality and they bring you a honey popsicle to stir in if you like it sweet. The popsicle came in the shape of a honey bear. Adorable! The vanilla latte was not too strong and lightly sweetened. For entrees, we shared the pear salad, wagyu burger, and ham/cheese quiche. Although, we could have probably been fine with just the salad and one of the two main dishes. Everything was delicious. The salad was amazing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but they could ease up on the blue cheese a bit, although it tasted great. Wagyu was flavorful. The quiche looked great, my husband enjoyed it. Fries and breakfast potatoes were well cooked, well seasoned. Service: Great service! The server was attentive and patient. Ambiance: The locale is brightly lit and spacious. Although it seems like the best seats are toward the back overlooking the lake. We didn't have reservation, so we're relegated to the front of the restaurant. I loved that that there was a pop up jewelry shop set up near the hostess. Support local business! I feel like they focused on some great details to make a weekend brunch enjoyable. Definitely a place I recommend to go if you want to impress out of towners, gals brunch, or a nice brunch date.

Yelp
Great spot to have brunch/breakfast. The space has modern farmhouse aesthetic and the host/hostess were very welcoming. We sat outside to a nice view of the resaca. Service was fast and the eggs Benedict was delicious. Try the yogurt with fresh berries and granola. Yuuuummmmyyy! Go there! We

Yelp
We made reservations so we didn't have to wait BUT we did have to wait for our waiter for a good 10 minutes. He was super swapped but very kind. Food was very good but a bit over priced in my opinion. I had the huevos ahogados and they had pretty good flavor. I also had a Bloody Mary and that was amazing!! It's a nice place to go once in a while not every weekend. Ambiance would have been great but too many people crowded the area to the point where you can't even enjoy the view.

adriana d.

Yelp
Favorite place in town for lunch or brunch. Love the place, the views and the food. The drinks they offer are super good too! This is a nice place to go with friends or family.

Yelp
My husband and I discovered this gem on vacation last summer. It's farm to table freshness was incredible and welcome after eating out at other restaurants on the beach. We were so enchanted with their food that we returned two more times (brunch and dinner) during our stay in South Padre. It's about a thirty minute drive from the island. It overlooks a "pond" and is very close to the Brownsville cultural center I.e. Art museum and Zoo. Parking could be better but all in all it was worth the drive, the menu is amazing, the atmosphere serene and the staff were friendly and courteous. I highly recommend eating here and tell all my friends about it. I'm looking forward to my next trip to SPI so I can visit again.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place for brunch. They seated us almost immediately, which was nice. We were seated very near the front of the restaurant, so we did not get to see what the rest of it looked like. We began by ordering some mimosas. I ordered the pineapple mimosa and my boyfriend ordered the peach mimosa. After some time, we ordered our food. I ordered the quiche, but was told that they had run out. I ordered the veggie sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the wagyu burger. We still hadn't received our mimosas when we ordered, and we were told that the bar was backed up. Eventually we got them. They were good, but the peach mimosa was better. Our food then came out. The veggie sandwich was a 10/10. It tasted so clean and fresh. I would definitely order it again. My boyfriend said his burger was good, but I did not taste it. Overall, we decided we would be back. The food and drinks were good. I knocked a star off because the service could have been better.

Yelp
Lola's is a locals favorite brunch stop! Food was hot & delicious, the service was phenomenal shout out to our server for his hospitality. The ambiance in the place is clean & friendly!

Yelp
Very pretty place but very disappointed with my lunch of lamb giro. (That's the way it was spelled). It didn't taste remotely close to what lamb gyro is supposed to, which is ok, but it wasn't even good. The bread wasn't fresh and the taste of the lamb gyro was awful. The 2 stars is for the sweet potatoes.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting after hearing good things from friends and family. It certainly lived up to the hype! Lola's is a super cute establishment situated on a resaca with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has both patio seating and a covered deck area right on the water. We sat in the deck area and it was so cute! The food was quick to arrive and absolutely delicious. I got the biscuits & sausage gravy with an egg added on top and my boyfriend ordered the avocado toast. Both were super great, but we did prefer the biscuits & gravy a bit-- the sausage gravy is soooo flavorful and yummy! We also ordered drinks -- a Bellini (peach juice and champagne) and a Mimosa (orange juice and champagne). The service was EXCELLENT! Our waiter (can't remember his name right now but I'll be sure to update if I do) was INCREDIBLE! So kind, personable, and attentive. It started to rain heavily while we were there and he immediately came out to check on us and see if he could move the table for us or do anything to help. He also came out to us in the rain just to continue attending and seeing if we wanted refills or anything! Lola's is also being cautious and proactive to keep everyone safe in COVID. Overall, we absolutely loved Lola's and plan to be back soon. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
On 7/13/24 I went to Lola's and made a reservation for 15 people for 9/14/24. I made it very clear that this was to be a bridal luncheon. I asked if I needed to leave a deposit and was told no. I called at least 3 times to confirm the reservation. My family worked with the catering/event person, Jose Luis, to plan a set menu for everyone. When we called him on 8/22/24 to confirm the menu, he casually informed us he had another offsite gig on 9/14/24 and would not have enough staff for the restaurant and the event, so he was cancelling our lunch reservation. Our invitations had already been set, plans had been made, but he didn't care. He offered no apology. In the many times we communicated with restaurant staff and him, no one ever said there was another event they had to tend to. It was obvious he had recently taken on the event. He also made no effort to inform us. We called to confirm our menu and that's when he said he was cancelling. Needless to say, I will never step foot in this place again! I definitely won't miss it - poor customer service, very loud environment, overpriced mediocre food.

Yelp
I went here with a co-worker and I really enjoyed the Salmon with Lentils as well as the Cappuccino The dish was well portioned and presented well . The food got to the table in a very timely manner and the waiter was polite and helpful in my food selection. I would likely be trying various other items on their main course menu ( I wouldn't recommend the salad menu for first time visitors) . My coworker on the other hand, had the pear salad and it looked atrocious ( she thought it tasted terrible and she probably doesn't like this restaurant now). They put two pear halves on top of the salad with blueberries, which are not listed in the ingredients. I will be returning to this business to try other main menu items. Give this place a try, but avoid the pear salad for those of you who are more health-conscious. You'll regret it eating that salad lol Now that I am thinking about it, who thinks it's a good idea to put pears on a salad anyway?

Yelp
Went to LoLa's for brunch on a Saturday. Not a good a idea. It was packed waited for over 45 minutes on a table. While I waited went to check other restaurants near the area downtown. Also was an hour wait and no parking stalls downtown near the restaurants. Back to Lola's they need a bigger establishment and more than one restroom for females and males. I had ordered avocado toast with poached eggs. Add-on of salmon. It was delicious. Drink was a mimosa not pleased with it. Do not know what brand of OJ they used but I didn't like it as much. The server I had was attentive and did well for being busy. My friend ordered Chilaquiles but the crispy chips got soggy quick. If anyone orders this plate. Eat it quickly. Some of the employees looked unorganized. I observed the Manager walking around making sure the plates were being served to the tables as soon as they came out. He did well trying to stay on top on supervision. I think they need to hire a shift leader for the wait staff to make sure food is being served hot as soon as it comes out. I didn't like the fact that the female worker that acted as a hostess began to take things away from my table like she wanted us to leave already after we were done eating. I do expect the waiter to pick up plates after we were done but this other person was looking at as like "get up you are done". She didn't even say a word to us as she was cleaning up our table while my friend and I were talking. I saw other people talking and taking their time to leave after they were done. Other than that, the food was delicious! Just get there early.

Yelp
OMG!!! This has been the best place that I've been in a while. Great service drinks are on another level! I'm from Cali and am not easily impressed... trust me this place is definitely will not disappoint.

Yelp
Visiting from Dallas. I was let down by the reviews. Perhaps they have a limited menu for Sunday's which I wish would have been mentioned somewhere in the reviews. I was expecting to be able to order risotto, herb crusted salmon, or crab cakes. The photos of these dishes made my mouth water. Sadly, those options were not on the menu. The place is small and in a cute spot. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the view. The restaurant did run out of avocados which I thought was odd. My husband had to change his order. I ordered the chilaquiles with lengua de res. It smelled good but as I started to dig into my meal I couldn't tell if I was eating chilaquiles or a bag of tostadas from the raspa stand across the street. I am willing to try this restaurant again before completely writing it off of places to enjoy a meal.

Yelp
One of the best brunches in town. Now serving breakfast l, lunch and early dinner. Great food. Try the tuna wontons. Good service beautiful atmosphere.

Red F.

Yelp
Worst customer service i ever experienced in Texas. Got arrived at 10:05 AM and never bother to get my orders I need to call them after waiting 20 mins.l and it's not busy. But I'll give a 5 star for kitchen crew less than 10 mins mu food arrived and it was good. Kust the customer service shes focus on her phone and the other one busy eating and the guy he don't care and i'm the one who even go to them to pay cause it's so hard to call them cause she's busy at her phone. If you're hungry don't go here

Yelp
Amazing food and service in Brownsville! Our waiter was so nice and pleasant and the food was delicious. The burrata was incredible and the avocado toast was excellent!
google avatar

Casey H.

Yelp
Solid restaurant with really flavorful food. The crew was constantly cleaning the restaurant the entire time. The menu has good choices, not over or underwhelming. The rigatoni plate was very good. The sauce made that plate memorable. The creme brûlée was fantastic. The only knock I had on my visit was the price for a drink. $3 for a can of coke was steep. Other than that, fantastic vibe with very good food.

Yelp
A Hidden Gem ! One would not imagine the beautiful setting these restaurant offers from simply looking at it upfront, or just seeing the entrance. This place is amazing in different aspects, such as its setting, service, drinks & food. Highly recommend!

Cymille J.

Yelp
First time going and got a pear salad. Don't ever get it. They tried too hard with the presentation, and the taste could have been better. It didn't say on the menu that it had blueberries, and they put it there. I'm not too fond of blueberries, so this made the salad look unappealing and unappetizing. I also ordered grilled chicken with it, and it was dry as a desert. This was not a good experience, they had a small menu, and nothing wrong with that because I thought those were the meal items they are more well known for, but I was wrong. It wasn't good.
google avatar

Anabel R.

Yelp
Lola's is delicious! I love the food, ambiance, and service. The entire staff made sure we had a great meal. However, the menu prices are really expensive. This is a place I'd go to for special occasions!
google avatar

Rhea L.

Yelp
Came here for a date brunch! Great food and service! We ordered the chilaquiles, eggs Benedict and the lavender cinnamon roll!

Denise K.

Yelp
Amazing food. Very accommodating owners. I wish they were open longer during the day. So popular parking can be harder to find than a table.
google avatar

Yazmin A.

Yelp
Don't forget to call or else you'll show up and there's a private event and you can't go in. Also their website states they do reservations but they don't reserve online anymore. I called and they said the place will be closed Saturday for a private event (if I hadn't called I wouldn't have known). I told them they should post it somewhere and she said "we post a sign on the door." So you're telling me someone wouldn't find out unless they showed up? Not active on social media I guess.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
My wife chose this spot and I am glad she did! Food was amazing, food and cocktails were reasonably priced, servers were attentive, even the mixologist often checked on us to make sure the drinks were up to our standards. For appetizers we tried the crab cakes, mini burgers, and tuna wontons (pictures included). Both were amazing! I'm from Rhode Island originally and have lived in Maryland as well and these crab cakes blew those out of the water! For dinner we ordered the risotto to split. This was pretty good, but risotto may have been slightly over cooked however overall this is definitely a 5 star restaurant and would recommend it if staying in Harlingen/San Benito/Brownsville areas.
google avatar

Ana G.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I made a reservation online, and they didn't validate it because they no longer use that app. Then why still have it available on your website. Food was mediocre at best. Nothing great.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I drive in from weslaco and they had a private party. No notice or announcement on social media.
google avatar

Roy B.

Yelp
My first time in so not a comprehensive review but everything I experienced was positive with only one exception. Greeting was immediate and professional, my preferences were were given deference, service was excellent and courteous. I was seated on the deck overlooking the lake, ordered the quiche and a glass of wine. The quality and preparation and presentation were excellent. The only problem was the flies. While I cannot blame the restaurant for flies at an outdoor seating I can for not offering to move me inside or to other outdoor seating so I moved myself to the bar where I was comfortably accommodated. I would definitely recommend Lola's for all of the positive I experienced and hope they can find a way to mitigate the fly problem on the deck.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Came in just to use the restroom earlier in the day. Loved the decor and attitude of the employees. Came back for cocktails and sat at the bar with Josue and he makes a BEAUTIFUL cocktail Started with Pablano Escobar and the flavors complimented each other so well. The Mezcal was absolutely still present but not at all over powering Sergeant Pepper is just as flavorful and a fun presentation on how they smoke it! I video attached of Josue burning Chorizo Risotto- great flavor. Very filling. 4 good sized servings Crab cakes- yummm! These were my favorite. Also 4 big servings. Would absolutely recommend and look forward to returning! The brunch menu looked amazing

Yelp
OMG...I really love the food here...and not to mention the Creme Burlee...it's to die for...Best place to eat in Brownsville... Great atmosphere and super friendly environment.
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
I love to try new places and food all the time. By far my favorite brunch place. The atmosphere and setting is elegant and calming; not too mention the food....we had the Eggs Diablo, Eggs Benedict, homemade biscuits, banana and pecan waffles, freshly squeezed orange juice and I course a mimosa for Mua. The staff was wonderful, hands down to Jennifer for her service and hospitality. I highly recommend after a long day or a long week. I'll definitely need to come back to try the lunch and dinner menu.
google avatar

Haley L.

Yelp
My friend in the town recommended me to visit this place. When I first went, I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant. I have not seen many places like this around this area. I went during weekday lunch and there was a separate lunch menu from the dinner and weekend brunch. We ordered the rigatoni pasta and steak churrasco. The rigatoni was a bomb. It was so perfectly cheesy/creamy, which was the best one I had in a while. The steak was juicy and good but I saw nothing too special. Other thing about this place was the service. My waitress was the best help I could ask for and recommended good items. I think I will continue to come to this place from now on!
google avatar

Milou I.

Yelp
Love this place! The food is amazing! I've tasted most of their menu items and I haven't been disappointed by any. It also has an outdoor seating area that is super cute for brunch or drinks. The service has always been great and staff is always helpful and welcoming.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
Not at all impressed. Sunday brunch and the place was relatively slow. $45 for 2 breakfasts which were cold and undercooked. When I returned poached eggs because egg whites were running all over the plate, the waiter to educate me on over easy vs over medium eggs. Told him that I didn't order either (eggs were poached) and regardless egg shite should not be "dripping". Regardless my wife was already done eating by the time he checked on us and she was already feeling queasy. Not sure of the cause, but wife barely made it home before "losing" her breakfast. Live and learn...will definitely not be going back.

Yelp
Lola's is a super cute restaurant in Brownsville with a beautiful patio right next to the park/river. I went to Lola's on a weekday lunch and was seated immediately. The staff was kind and attentive, and I really wanted to like Lola's more than I did. I would give it 4 stars for atmosphere and service, but I'm giving it an overall 3 for the food and price. I ordered the stuffed avocado for lunch with a cup of poblano soup ($9) and got a slice of cheesecake for dessert ($6). The avocado is stuffed with chicken salad, and in theory it sounded amazing, but in actuality it was a little bland and didn't go together all that well in flavor. It was kind of underwhelming, and I wouldn't order it again. I did really love the poblano soup though! The cheesecake was also good, but I wasn't expecting to pay $6 for just one slice.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
Atmosphere is calming & enjoyable, our waiter was just right attentive, the food was all amazing!

Barnett C.

Yelp
Exceptional and unexpected for many reasons. The menu offered a tempting array of appetizers, small and larger plates, and drinks. Waiter Francisco was extremely helpful and welcoming. The buratta salad was superb, rarely seen on menus. We learned from charming Lola that the buratta was sourced from San Antonio! Francisco's suggestion of seared tuna on wonton was much appreciated: unusual and delicious! Lamb meatballs with Calabrian chile offered another unusual, tasty treat with Nan bread. Other breads, made in-house, were especially good. And the unusual, crispy shrimp dish my wife ordered was to die for. Too full to try a tempting dessert. Note: the back area of the restaurant is lovely, including an outdoor seating area with a fine view. My rating is a 5+.

Yelp
Tuna wontons Tuna aguachile Beef fillet Full bar These are my favorites but every plate I have ordered is always great. This is a must in brownsville. The staff is very friendly complimented by a very relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast lunch or dinner food is so good.

Lori H.

Yelp
Food and drinks are mad overpriced and in small portion. I spent double the amount than going to Yummies or Grapevine at South Padre. Definitely not going back. $6/latte in a small glass cup? No thanks...you're paying more for the view than the food.

Nicole H.

Yelp
First time going here. Service was attentive and friendly. I had the avocado toast with salmon, which was delicious although I am not sure I would have it with the salmon again. The other breakfast options looked good as well. The cheesecake was well received and the carrot cake was moist although it looked a bit small next to the cheesecake. Decor is cute and would have loved to sit on the patio but it was booked for a private event. Will be back.
google avatar

Ricardo Q.

Yelp
Never get disappointed here. Brought my baby girl for Saturday brunch and we were veery pleased, as always the menu selection is not extensive, but each plate seems to have character. We had Benedict's, spicy chicken sandwich and Nutella Strawberry waffles, and some mimosas. Service was a little slow and I didn't enjoy the potatoes, other than that it's still the place to go in Brownsville
google avatar

Octavio S.

Yelp
If there is anything negative to say about the place is that they could use some decor in the walls. But this is a very distant concern when you realize that Lola's has a top notch service and the food is of a grand quality I did not expect. The first thought after digging into my chilaquiles with salsa verde and beef tongue was "I need to come back!". And I will be back. Great job, Lola's!

Yelp
Yummy food. The four stars are just for the food. The service was ok... But the waiter talked badly about the owner for not updating the menu because they were out of many beers on the list. It's tacky to talk about the owner in that way the waiter should want the guests to have a positive experience. Anyway... He did do a nice job of when the fourth beer my husband asked for was also out of stock, he went ahead and brought another that was similar and that was fine. He also suggested the Tuna Wontons that we went for and were SO GOOD.... It's like if sushi were a nacho. Yum! Wasn't a huge fan of the crab cakes or fried rissoto balls, which were identical btw. Just differentiated by sauce they were served on and rather bland. The crab cakes were on this green whip that had zero flavor and added nothing to the dish but to keep them from rolling off the plate. My biggest complaint of the experience... ANTS! Ok so we sat outside... And yea we know bugs are to be expected outside in Texas... But a nice restaurant should make an effort to keep them away and I have eaten at many outdoor dining places and never experienced ants like this. From the strat when we went to sit down the waiter wiped them off the table... I was like oh ok... But by the end of our meal when waiting for the check they had taken over all around our plates it was awful! We finally got up because we couldn't sit there any longer... I even left with bites all over my feet that are itching like hell today. So they definitely need to do something about that. I'll go back but I will never done outside there again. Which is too bad because the resaca view is beautiful.
