This is what I got for $14 plus $2 tip (total cost $16) today - three "HALF" pieces of chicken tenders that was dry and dark or burnt with a load of fries...UNACCEPTABLE!! In short, a so called meal of 3 bad pieces of half cut chicken tenders (equivalent to 3 chicken nuggets or 1 1/2 chicken tenders, which kitchen cut and served cut into halves) with a half bag of french fries for $16 - RIDICULOUS!!! I can bake 3 chicken nuggets and half bag of fries at home for only $4. I won't be stopping here again and have many OTHER places locally to choose from for $16 with better quality food service. Spent too much for vey little so don't expect to get your 'bang for your buck' at Lola's Chicken Shack.

Literally forgot to take my order. Waited 20 minutes just to find out they didn't even take the order and then took 10 minutes after that. Staff were a bit unfriendly and didn't even apologize and then tried to imply that we had somehow forgot to order it. Got this rusty nail burger that had this dry chicken cake inside. Atmosphere was ok, wouldn't recommend.

It was a couple of us but I ordered some chicken strips. When received they looked and tasted burnt. Strips weren’t even hot, barely warm. Waste of money, canes is better. The young lady who took our order was sweet and there was plenty of seating.

Ordered food last nite got food it was good however my coke a cola 16oz bottle was expired two weeks ago and was flat and awful. And my brownie was hard as a brick. So im taking a break from this place for a while . This place was my go to restaurant not no more though and that sucks

Lola was the first place we ate at when moving to Alameda. They have some very good food and will always be a special place to us! Always has great service! Update: new ownership bring back the old bbq sauce please! It’s not as good without it. Down to 4 star 😔

Terrible Experience! New Owners! I went in for lunch with my husband and sister. My sister ordered her food, then my husband and I each ordered our meals. To start the house made lemonade was rancid. Then my sister and I got our orders but my husbands order never came. I asked the cashier Steven, where his food was and he tells me we never ordered it and then just stares at me. In my opinion it is obvious that 3 people would order 3 different entrees, or at least that the cashier should confirm. He didn't offer any solutions or apologies. So then I ask him if I can get the other burger for which he tells me, "You have to pay for it." Fine, I'll pay, but I did expect some type of customer service other than his blank stare. Once we all had our food, my sisters Pesto B had a hair in it! The garlic fries had a huge scoop of pre-packaged garlic on top that weren't even hot. My mushroom and Swiss burger was decent and the Lola's Classic burger was good. I called the restaurant the next day to speak to a manager but no one knew how to connect me to one. I was given the cell phone number of "Rog" who I was told was the owner. That phone call went worse than the dining experience. He answered the phone and all I could hear was gibberish as if he was talking to someone else. I stated I was a customer at Lola's and that person hung up. I did a search and found out that Lola's now has new owners and is no longer the quality place I used to love.

Google
The southwestern burger was great. I thankfully got it without the spread. They have several items to choose from, when it comes to sandwiches, salads or burgers, but not so much that you're paralyzed. They have two outdoor tables and several booths inside (but booths were empty due to CV). They have fountain drinks and bottled drinks as well.

Google
Did not disappoint!! Tried the Cobb salad w/poppy seed vinaigrette and it was 💣💣💣. Will definitely be here once a week to try the whole menu. Worth every penny, chicken was nice and juicy.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW this is my go to spot for the best and most amazing lightly spiced chicken tenders. I always have my order to go so have not spent any time inside, but I will say the pieces of chicken are juicy and flavorful. The breading is an almond (i think) spiced breading that is just so good. There is the option to add sauces from ketchup, blue cheese, honey mustard and many more.

Yelp
Every time I walk into Lola's, I say I'm going to try something different but 3 years later, I've only had the Asian Citrus salad. It's just so delicious. Chicken, goat cheese, poppy seed dressing and mandarins? Sold! Every. Single. Time. It's a hefty salad and very reasonably priced. The salad comes with their signature chicken so if you choose any other salad, I'd recommend it's one with the signature chicken. That's the star of the show.

Yelp
First time trying Lola's... the place was practically empty, so I'm guessing they do a lot of delivery, since there are recent, positive reviews. The staff were very nice (looks like a family run business), the whole place looked clean (including the restroom), and service was very prompt. The food was HUGE. My salad was enough for 2-3 people- likewise with the burger and fries. Three tenders were ordered but four arrived, so they must be paying attention to the size of each piece, which we appreciated. The food was delicious! My salad was very fresh and the fries were hot and crunchy. This place would make a good study spot (if allowed)!

Yelp
Service is always great, Andrea is always friendly, first time I notice a change was when I picked up my food and the new owner started yelling at the staff member because she was wasting a big bag on my food... the bag was too big for my order for 5 people. Food then started to get reheated and my tenders were dry, the southwestern burger still good. I returned again because I really wanted to give Lola's a chance and my tenders felt like they been reheated at least twice. I attached pictures see for yourself, honestly the change of ownership has made it easier to let go of Lola's a place where I used to eat at least 2 times a week, I am just sorry for the people who works there. They deserve so much better.

Yelp
Something happened where the quality of the food has gone down tremendously the last couple of years. Both the signature and the classic chicken strips were undercooked and very pink in the middle as were the chicken pieces on top of my salad. I could only serve my kids two strips that seemed like then were cooked to a safe temperature. Undercooked chicken really is an issue, especially when you're ordering something last minute for your kids.

Yelp
Don't mess around and just get the chicken tenders! Don't be fooled by the menu, just like a very good, well-known burger joint most Californian's love, a simple menu is all that is necessary. I tried a burger, chicken sandwich, and even a salad.... All blah. But this place is known for its chicken tenders, get it, and get the 5 star rating that I give. Otherwise an overall establishment, this won't be a place I recommend. But come to Alameda, do your taste buds a favor and get the chicken tenders. Ambiance/Service, good.

Yelp
lola's chicken & cabo chicken sandwich came here in a sunday after the lunch rush. place wasn't busy at all. there were only two people working from what i saw but the service was quick and friendly. the place is a bit outdated and old but the food was great! both sandwiches were cooked nicely. not dry or hard as some people have claimed. i loved the slaw on the lola's sandwich. the curly fries were crunchy and as expected. the chicken tenders were HUGE. one was too much for my toddler. that's definitely a save some for later kinda food. i would come again just to try the other chicken fixings they offer. the place isn't pretty or hip but the food is awesome.

Yelp
I didn't wanna give this one star but no choice. First time trying since living in alameda all this time. NEVER AGAIN. No flavor. Hella dry. Hella burnt. Almost $20 down the drain (we ordered fries and I guess the one star was for that - it's edible). How do you get chicken tenders wrong? Well, I guess come here and find out. SMH

Yelp
Sunday, early evening, dining in alone. Quiet, since there's only a couple other people there. I ordered the California chicken club, garlic fries and a bottle of Coke. The young man at the counter was nice enough. The order was over $25, which is kind of a lot for 1 person. The chicken club, I ordered it without the goat cheese. I dunno what was on the bread, but it was so soggy when it got to me. Like it was sauced the day before, or the tomato was put on the bread the day before. Honestly, I didn't eat it as a sandwich after the first few bites, I just ate the tenders. If I ever have to eat here again, I'll probably just order tenders. The garlic fries, the flavor was actually really good. The texture was nice and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The big downside. They were cold when they got to me. I guess I shouldn't say cold. But they were room temp. Not warm. Definitely not hot. How is that? It's not like I was waiting a long time. I was there probably 5 or so minutes after I ordered. $25 to be this disappointed. Ugh. I would give this place a 2.5 if I could. I'm not super angry. Just disappointed.

Yelp
Ambiance: Lola's is a sit down restaurant with a respectable interior that does its purpose as a food establishment. In addition, It has a lot of seating so it's a great place for big parties. Service: this restaurant has an ordering desk where you put in an order and wait for your food. The service was quick and friendly Food: we got the honey mustard chicken sandwich and the Asian citrus salad. The chicken sandwich was very good with a well breaded and crispy piece of chicken. The bread was nice and fluffy and the simple toppings complimented the chicken nicely. I did not think the cheese they used would pair well with this sandwich but it fit perfectly. The Asian citrus salad was light and had textures and flavors that complimented each other perfectly. I loved that they put the salad dressing on the side so you can control flavor of the salad on your own.

Yelp
Only been here twice because I'm a little far from Lolas now. I used to come here often for highschool many years back. I have to say those signature chicken tenders are SMACKING! They are even better than what I remembered. The staff here are super nice and theres always this kind lady at the counter to help, classic old school hospitality. Definitely going to come back here for more of those delicious chicken tenders! Every bite is so hearty - crispy, chewy and extremely well seasoned!!

Diana C.

Yelp
THEY GOT ROACHES. This was my go place during lunch but one time I found a roach in their mac I quickly threw away my food because I was so disgusted.
google avatar

Jennelle T.

Yelp
The tenders were over cooked and really dry, like they were cooked earlier and reheated in oil. I could barely chew the chicken I received today.. The chicken was pretty flavorless. I used to really like this place so i hope they fix this.

Yelp
Food here is always good. Variety to experience. Service is always great. The ambience varies on what time you're here.

Yelp
Did this place change owners or something? I haven't been by in a few years, but we saw them on Doordash today and boss ordered it for the office. Signature chicken tenders for two of us, classic tenders for the others. The classic tenders were burned to almost black and I'm told were dry AF. The signature tenders used to be seeded and crunchy and SO great, but now have a greasy, sort of bland tasting corn mealy type coating with just a little bit of sesame seed and that is it. Definitely lacking flavor and missing the formerly crunchy texture. Tots were COLD ...some of that may be because of the delivery time, but honestly, they tasted like they were cooked up this morning and then left out all day. All in all, after eating three tater tots and 2 of the 3 tenders, I have a yucky oil taste in my mouth and the whole meal is already repeating. Blech. If it's new owners, I wonder why they'd change something that was so well-liked? Didn't they buy the restaurant because it was popular and GOOD? Why change a good thing? Did they think we wouldn't notice? If it's the same owners, they should remember their roots and go back to that. The product they're putting out today is not up to par. Either way, Lola's needs to step it up. Until I hear otherwise, I will not go back and won't recommend it to others. Too bad.

Yelp
I have been here many times but haven't been in a while. We decided to drive to alameda just for some Lola's. We got there and see they changed up their menu. We decided to get the meal for 2 which stated that it came with 8 tenders. We ordered it and they gave us 4 tenders sliced in half. Plus it was sitting in a plate full of oil. We were so disappointed. It seems like it has new owners or management. Probably not going back anytime soon. Plus the customer service was terrible. I went to get a to-go container and he was actively trying to avoid eye contact like I was just going to walk away. I have always been excited to go to Lola's and this just put a terrible taste in my mouth.

Yelp
"Lola's Chicken Shack" is a chicken sandwich place on Park Street in Alameda. It's a place where you can get a good meal at a fair price. I haven't been here in awhile, so I dropped by on a Sunday to get a sandwich and some rings. I ordered: -California Club Sandwich -Onion Rings -3-pc Chicken Tenders The California Club had thick pieces of fried chicken. Loaded with everything promised.....BLT, avocado, cheese, and roasted strawberry BBQ sauce. Not overly seasoned, you can taste the chicken. The onion rings were excellent. Crispy and crunchy, just the way I like them. A fairly large serving for $3.25. And the chicken tenders? Nice sized chicken tenders, not too dry. Perfect for dipping. 3 for $7.75 is a fair price. Check out my photos. Folks, this is a nice restaurant, run by nice people, serving good food at fair prices. You want to keep this place open. Located on Park Street in the City of Alameda, The Island City. Dine in or Takeout ----------------------------------------------- Street parking, or use nearby parking lots. A parking complex is at Central & Oak, next to CVS. Bus Stops nearby.
google avatar

Samantha J.

Yelp
Always satisfying! Fresh white meat tenders, crisped up to perfection. Despite being fried, these never feel heavy or greasy. The tenders themselves are substantial. Two tenders are the equivalent to alone chicken breast. Honorable mention goes to the onion rings! Those are always so crispy and delicious. The service is always kind, quick, and it is easy to make phone orders. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the seasoning is inconsistent and some days the chicken has more flavor than others, but nothing their delicious sauces can't fix.

Yelp
I stopped by here to grab a snack after browsing the stalls at the Alameda art and wine festival. My party of 3 dropped in around 2 pm and the restaurant was pretty empty, though surprisingly it was almost full by the time we left around 2:45. Seems to be a popular spot! They're most known for their chicken tenders, which can be either grilled or fried, but they also offer salads, soups, sandwiches, and burgers. The chicken tenders come with either 1 or 2 dipping sauces of your choice, depending on how many pieces you get. I shared 3 grilled chicken tenders ($7.75) with the basil pesto sauce as well as an order of tater tots ($3.10). The chicken tenders were juicy enough (breast meat isn't my favorite though, so they still tasted a bit dry) and the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy. Both made for a great mid-day snack!

Yelp
Fried chicken and a fresh healthy portion of salad was just what I needed. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very nice.
google avatar

Efren C.

Yelp
Don't ever eat low this chicken shack It's just a bunch of kids that work there and they don't cook the chicken all the way and I got really bad food poisoning from the signature style chicken. It had me throwing up and had me so sick to my stomach. I couldn't even sleep and I had the chills and sweats, and I was feeling very nauseous.

Haydee J.

Yelp
As I sit here I decided to write my review. This was our spot for the best chicken pesto sandwich in alameda. I heard that sandwich no longer was the same so i decided to come and see for myself. They were right! The sandwich felt off. Change of bread? The way its made? If before my rating was a 10 for the sandwich, we gave the sandwich a 6. I had the Cesar salad and i had to remove the breaded part since it had sesame seeds and it gave the tenders a different flavor. There should be a choice for the tenders. Will I return its a 50/50

I Luv The Bay Area J.

Yelp
Chicken was overcooked and too crisp and crunchy to eat. The Mac n cheese was too bland
google avatar

Tracy R.

Yelp
Sadly, this place has gone downhill. New owners are not keeping up with the previous standard. Salad was full of decayed lettuce. Breading was falling off the chicken. The person in charge, who I assume was the owner, got my order wrong, although one of the employees fixed it. The clincher for me was the owner yelling at his employee (who was pretty clearly his daughter) and having a very vocal argument about her work and school schedule. Not a good look. Also not very pleasant when you're trying to eat. Not even sure t's even worth giving them a little time to get it under control, but we shall see.

David F.

Yelp
I've been ordering from here for the past 2+ years and have had mostly positive experiences with food quality and taste that have been bringing me back. As of recent, the quality of the food has significantly dropped off, tenders are overdone and greasy, fries soggy, and today my fiancee found raw chicken in her salad? We've been reluctant to go back for the past few months because of the quality shift, but after today we're done. Buyer beware.

L B.

Yelp
So disappointed! It has been a while since we've been here, and this used to be one of our favorite places to go for fried chicken. There must have been a change in cooks and/or ownership because this time, the food was nothing like it was before. The food used to be fresh-cooked when ordered, but this clearly was not. I had the Asian citrus salad, and my husband had the Lola classic sandwich. The "signature" breading on my chicken was flat and flavorless, and the meat was desiccated and tough, as though it had been under a heat lamp. I gnawed on a couple of pieces, then gave up and just ate the salad part. At least that was fresh! The sandwich was likewise dry and tough, and the slaw was gooey and unappetizing. I'm actually sad about this! Now we have to find a new fried chicken place.

Lisa N.

Yelp
The food was ready when we arrived for pickup and was still hot when we got home. The chicken was tasty. This appeared ti be more geared to pick up's but there are some tables available

Sonia G.

Yelp
Food is amazing, but this one worker today, a guy with brown hair and a white hat, (around 6:30pm) WOULD NOT quit ringing that damn little bell while im trying to eat in peace. super loud and laughing at customers if we glanced at him while he was doing it. just really irritating experience.

Yelp
Yummy food and love that onsite dining is on real plates and not wasteful, single-use containers.

Yelp
Great service and food! Mac c Chicken is my favorite thing on the menu! Great atmosphere and seating.

Yelp
They have great customer service and their food is delicious. I go there all the time during lunch and I'm always greeted and helped without flaws.

Yelp
I come in here a lot and it's really good and the staff are really nice uh idk what to out here but i need to hit 85 characters

Yelp
I walked in with my son and we ordered tenders and fries. The food came put quick and the service was great. The ambiance was amazing.

Yelp
The staff know me by name and the chicken is like... pretty good. Their flame grilled chicken is one of the best I've had. I go here like every other day. Lola is my hero.

Yelp
Decent chicken shop with the best fries Food 4/5 Cesar salad with fried chicken Fries: their fries really are the best! I prefer thick fries that are not soft, and their fries are exactly like that! Very crispy Soup Environment 3/5 Unfortunately there was a pretty bad smell inside the restaurant the whole time I was there... not sure if it was just the day I visited. Interior also make it look very mediocre. Happy to give it another try tho

Nicole A.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible customer service on April 18th, 2024 around 2:30pm, I didn't get the woman's name so the time stamp should help you figure out who was working that shift. I've been going to this place since 2015 and never had an issue until today. I went to take my sister to try it and the first thing that was said to us was " I don't speak Spanish" . My sister replied "we don't either" and she said she was going to get somebody and then asked were we looking for a job . I don't usually take time out of my day to attend to nonsense but I feel like it needs to be brought attention because nobody should have to deal with that while trying to order some food. It was really baffling to deal with, she has me flabbergasted still lol terrible

Yelp
Wow. I'm sold. This chicken is so good I told everyone about Lola's. Went in, and there was a good amount of people despite almost closing time. Very was calm and plenty of staff behind the register. Once I stepped to the door staff members greeted me and directly welcomed me in. I got the wrap with chicken and coleslaw and some fries with chicken to share. The decor is intriguing with photos of chickens in odd and fun attire. My favourite one is the one with the beret. Lovely art as I was waiting. It adds to the experience. Totally worth the wait as the food was made. Ranch was a little thin for my liking but flavour was there creamy and zesty. Bbq sauce smoky. Fries were not oily but felt like they needed like some seasoning like parsley or some petty garnish. Now the chicken in general was magical. It's all the flavours and juices that make up the chicken fabulous. Very soft and juicy; the outside crunch is phenomenal with their seasoning like sesame seeds and breading. Not oily or greasy at all. The coleslaw in the wrap was so fresh and creamy. I would like a side of that next time. The chicken and coleslaw were married so well that it's meant to be. They have environmental friendly packaging for take out. AC Transit buses 20,21, 51B, O, and 78 are accessible with ease. Nearest BART station is Fruitvale. Coming back for sure with a friend or two, worth it.

Yelp
This place has gone down the drain! Horrible service and don't get me started on the sandwiches. The chicken looks black and burnt, and super dry! I have been a regular for a very long time but last 3 times it's been not so great! I always do 5 or 6 sandwiches and this time once AGAIN I come home to open my bag to be disappointed with the food I ordered. It's not worth one star but cannot post a review without a star. Definitely lost a regular customer. I ordered 5 pesto chicken sandwiches and came home to find it loaded with bacon which I DO NOT EAT.

Jeff O.

Yelp
Do not go here. You get better chicken and customer service at KFC down the street. Dried out chicken and HORRIBLE customer service.
google avatar

Assia D.

Yelp
The chicken tenders were delicious! The salad? Not so much. Salad was just greens....and a few other vegetables. I don't recommend the salad, but I definitely recommend the tenders.

Yelp
Love this spot! Always fresh and tasty! The Staff is great too especially the young Latina girl. She always makes me feel welcome:) Today was super hot and I started sweating just waiting in line!! Please get a fan or something!!!

Eugene K.

Yelp
This is a solid restaurant if you don't want to make chicken at home. However, I would caution that it is honestly not that much better than just making chicken tenders at home or making a chicken sandwich at home. It's in a nice location on Park Street, close to everything nice in Alameda. Further, the service is always really quick and sweet. However, once again, don't expect michelin style food, it's solid but if you're looking for something to remember, this is not the place for you.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
There are so many places on Park Street to choose from, but we always go back to Lola's because who can beat their variety of chicken sandwiches in every style?! Lola's has flavor combinations from classic Buffalo and bleu cheese to chipotle bbq or pesto/Mediterranean. There is truly an option to please all palates. This time we opted for the Cabo Chicken Sandwich (chicken tenders, chipotle mayo, bbq sauce, bacon, cheddar, red onion, lettuce) and the Chicken and Waffles Sandwich (tenders, bacon, lettuce, tomato on a cheddar, bacon and green onion savory waffle + maple mustard sauce). Although both sandwiches are well-balanced in terms of flavors, the waffle was our favorite. The soft waffle pairs nicely with the crispy chicken and the ratio of bread/sauce/toppings is better on the waffle compared to the other sandwich bread, which can get hard and assault the roof of your mouth. DL;DR: If you can only order one thing here, the waffle won't do you wrong.

Sheena D.

Yelp
Excellent!!! Definitely worth your time! The chicken is amazing and service is amazing!!! Can't wait til my next visit!

Yelp
Finally, I tried Lola's again after a long while. Learned that they had been in Alameda prior to the 70's, then returned again in the 2010s. They only use and make fried/battered chicken tenders here (where you can order by themselves, or have them in waffle sandwich, salad, etc). Ordered the Asian chicken salad with original fried tenders, with a separate side of garlic fries for lunch. Chicken was tender and moist inside with a nice crunch outside. The salad came with a poppy seed dressing, which paired well with the mixed greens, mandarin oranges, and crunchy noodles. Garlic fries were freshly fried and tossed in seasoned oil infused with minced garlic. Very reasonable pricing, too. Great for families or friends spending time in the area or for the local after-school kids to get a bite to eat. Salad was about $12, and garlic fries about $4.

Yelp
Great customer service and lots of foot traffic. Chicken sandwiches were freshly made and fries were hotbeds crispy and flavorful. The chicken tenders were generous sizes. Good for quick easy lunches.

Yelp
Service and staff are terrible, the cook and the servers were talking smack about me all because I was given a bacon mac and cheese that had, and I count, six small tiny freckles of "bacon" in it. Looked like grains of sand. And a soggy chicken sandwich that had one thin strip of floppy bacon on it. The first time I ever haed either item served that way. I asked nicely if it was possible to get more bacon on the mac, and they agreed. And then, because I worked up the nerve due to coming here for years and knowing they usually had never served the sandwich like that, asked if it was possible for a bit more bacon and mayo, and no worries if not. Cue the server snarling like "Um, alright???", and hearing the server and the cook loudly talking smack about the request I made, and going on and on about it for maybe six minutes. I did get the food, and the chicken was soggy but at least everything else actually was decent. But the service was unneccesary. Hope they didn't do anything else to my food out of some egotistical spite, but that definitely made me not want to come back. The mac and cheese also is more like a shells carbonara, it has basically none of the components to be a macaroni and cheese. Since you barely taste the cheese from however they prep the sauce, and its not macaroni. Still tasty, but subpar and worth skipping.

Yum! I got Signature Tenders with Orange dipping sauce. Really enjoyed them. The Signature coating was delicious.
