Rating this place five stars feels unhinged… but it’s correct. Cheap drinks, strong pours, questionable vibes, and a crowd that keeps things interesting. Not for everyone, but if you’re in Houston, you have to experience Lola’s at least once. Terrible bar. Five stars.

lola’s is a hole you crawl into and i love it. as grimy, wonderful and human as this place is the bartenders are uptight, rude and miserable. the drinks are cheap but you get so much attitude from the grown men behind the bar. you get ignored for so long you have to get to the other side of the bar. if you're the guy with the man bun earlier who thought the tip wasn’t enough after ignoring us when it wasn’t busy, get a different job or don’t take it out on us randoms or better yet quit it’ll do everyone a favor besides the awful bartenders and the bouncer constantly hitting on you, you can find this underbelly vibe everywhere else.

If someone mentions Lolas Depot, they know houston. They also know how low life can get. One of the filthiest, most vile places ive stepped foot in. Strong drinks, unmatched prices, unsettling vibe. Truly some of the worst memories. Iconic; Five stars.

Lola’s Depot is a Houston staple, if you know anyone over the age of 21, they’ve been here. This is Houston’s diviest dive and grimiest corner, it is one of a kind and the cheapest drinks this side of the century. This isn’t the type of place for everyone, this isn’t the type of place for most people even but it’s an institution that’s been here for decades. Check Lola’s out for a good time, or a bad time, or maybe just when you have a inch for something, anything really.

My favorite dive bar. Yes there are a lot of people and you do have to wait to grab a drink, but the prices are unbeatable!

Bartenders will skip over you to take care of their regulars who come in after you leaving you waiting for 15+ minutes while being ignored. We ended up leaving after being repeatedly skipped over and witnessing the older male bartender be downright rude to someone asking about a specific drink. We don’t live in the Houston area, but this used to be one of our favorite spots to come to when we would be there. Service and attitude has gone downhill the last few times we’ve gone.

It’s got a lot of character and is filled with lots of characters. I usually have fun and always meet new people.

The best dive bar in the city. This has been a favoured haunt for years. It hasn’t changed. Purple building in corner of Grant and Fairview. Music by the eclectic jukebox. This is many things but boring if not one of them. The patio is always full of conversations and the junk.of past parties, ceilings adorned with bras. Walls painted by local artists there are 2 pool tables and a bar inside, the patrons are a mixed lot. Different ages different backgrounds. Patrons dressed like Ramones, suits, cocktail dresses. The drinks are cheap and strong. A great place to start the evening or just hang out

Came here awhile back but still remember it like I was just there. (Hint: That's when you know it's good :) ) By far they meet the TextBOOK definition of a dive bar. In the best imaginable way possible. Hole in the wall, you got it. Excellent atmosphere, you got it. Diverse, friendly fun crowd, you got it. Never any dull moments here. They nailed every mark in the book for 'that hole in the wall bar over there..' friendly & down to earth in its great service and accepting atmosphere. Lola's Depot is the way to go! I highly recommend if you're looking for something new and different. I had a club soda and still had an amazing time. Drinking isn't what makes this place fun It's Lola's magic dePOTTTTT brewin fairy dust of grungy galore and pool table scores. Take a dive See for yourself and explore.

We checked out Lola's Depot spontaneously on a Sunday evening. We were looking for a speakeasy, and Lola's Depot came up, so we made our way. We later found out that this isn't a speakeasy, some people on Google reviews have just said that it has a speakeasy vibe. Not Lola's Depot's fault at all! Located in Montrose, we found street parking a few minutes away from this casual dive bar. Once you enter, you'll find pool tables and a pretty spacious patio. This is a no-frills type of place. A little grungy. But I will say that there's one big thing that stands out: cheap drinks. We ordered beer and I was shocked at how good of a deal I got. Not what I was expecting in Montrose but much appreciated. Service was standard. If you're looking for a casual spot without breaking the back, you know where to go.

This is one of my favorite dive bars in Houston. It is also conveniently close to other bars and restaurants. They don't serve food but sometimes there is a food truck that sells food.

I'm not sure if my taste elevated as I grew up or this place took a nose dive literally as a DIVE bar. Its been a few years. I dont remember the bartenders being rude or the place this dirty. We came on a Thursday evening. There was maybe 10 people at the bar and it took an unusual long time for me to close my tab. I had to wait for them to finish saying hi to everyone else. The bathrooms got dirtier? I did not feel like I should sit on those toilets. Half of the patio lights were out. The beers are still cheap though. Theres a way to be a dive bar and be clean.

I love this bar. Leah is the best bartender! Super sweet and kind and helpful. Super cheap here and the patrons are cool

Dive bar. Period. You either get it and love it or you don't. No matter where you go, don't be an idiot. Never leave your drink unattended. If a vibe starts to get sketchy, leave. Again, this is a dive bar (and it's also the best dive in Houston).

Total shit hole. There's only two good bartenders. The rest are rude just a awful awful place.

Lost passport here and when calling during operating hours bar repeatedly answered and did hung up or provided jibberish (drunk employee?) before hanging up. Had to report passport stolen due to being unable to get a simple answer from bar. Incredibly unprofessional staff and did not check ID ever at this location. I get that it's a dive bar, but you are a business as well, act like one. Poisons girl beats this place any day. TABC needs to check this place out. Rudest service and bartenders drinking on the job also questionable CC charges. Please try any other dive bar besides this place

Best dive bar. People keep to themselves cheap and there is an outside patio. Best tip is to take cash because you could drink for a while and still be under the min card limit. 10$ Kenny is great!!

Second time visiting. Most recent visit was Saturday, Nov 6th @ 10 pm. The bartenders are the worst. Ignored me and my friends and only cared about serving their regulars. They had the worst attitudes and spent a lot of time texting on phones instead of serving paying customers. Unacceptable!

Neat spot to have a beverage and knock back a few, hang with your buds. It's an interesting, diverse mix of dive bar meets patio party vibe. Inside has the dimmed lighting, pool table, accumulation of stickers, and other pieces of flair. The fenced in patio is spacious for more back yard shenanigans. We stayed mostly to the bar area because there was a sea of people out back on a Saturday night. Bartenders were great. Friendly and attentive, taking care of thirsty patrons. If I was working in the area again, I would keep Lola's in the rotation. Cheers!

So to me this is 100% a real dive bar. The drinks a cheep the atmosphere is grunge and it has such a mix crowd of people. The inside is really small. I'm amazed that they can fit two pool tables and all the people who get packed up in this place every time I go. The patio on the plus side is big and full of picnic tables. PS this isn't a place to go dressed up you will regret that if you do.

This place is the definition of a dive bar and is a montrose staple. It's a great place to come if you're looking to drink for cheap. I'm pretty sure the bartenders work for tips, so don't skimp on tipping. I definitely recommend bringing cash, as waiting to close out your tab can take some time especially if the bartenders are busy. Lolas is a pretty social bar and it's super easy to meet and talk to new people.

I haven't stepped foot in this bar in 20+ until recently and hands down, i'm still a fan! For years they only accepted cash... but now they accept credit cards. I believe in real dive bars in random locations, with random people, randomly getting my drank on. And this is everything I adore in a bar. Matter fact, too many people throw out the dive bar label, when really...I want to go to a sketchy bar. And this place isn't for the pretentious, bougie, uptight, wanna be seen, fake wanna be, do you have a cocktail menu drinkers. The juke box is solid, the crowd is mixed randoms. And i love it. It feels like all my fav places wrapped up into one. The drinks are solid...prices are economical. Entertainment is priceless! You can thank me later, even though I won't remember. parking: street parking and neighboring parking lots. Read the signs. But uber/lyft is recommended.

Great atmosphere, the bartenders are dope! Ask Lenny about his special shot he created, my girlfriend said it tasted like koolaid. There are bathrooms inside and outside. The drinks are the cheapest in Houston hands down. There are 2 pool tables and lots and lots of seating. Also, added bonus, there are kittens and cats that frequent the bar. No kitchen for food, so eat before you go. Parking is tricky, I parked on the street and got ticketed by Houston parking at 7at night cause I was 5 feet too close to the stop sign, the ticket cost more than my bar tab. Aside from the parking, this place is awesome!

I've been coming to Lola's since I first turned 21 and I'm 32 now so that says a lot! All the bartenders always take care of me and my friends and any new comers that I bring to enjoy this fun dive bar. Kenny always takes care of me and provides the best service. I've read two reviews about him throwing drinks and I can confirm that is not true. I've always received nothing but respect from all the bartenders who work there.

My first dive bar since moving to Texas, I guess I can say Lola popped my cherry! Sadly but understandably there was only patio service, bar was closed...crowd was smaller and mostly kept to themselves. Drinks were nice and strong, not watered down and hella cheap! The two bartenders were attentive and kept checking in on me so I rarely had to wait for a drink. No food service only bagged chips or pretzels. BUT I took the mandatory drunk bathroom selfie! So yes this was up my alley! Definitely returning once it opens full service so I can give it the five star rating I think it deserves.

This is not my scene, for starters, but I am giving it a 4-stars for the smoke vapor since it really was suppressive. I appreciated the neighborhood dive vibe and did enjoy the metal music playing. I do think fire code violations may have been happening when I was there since the place was *jammed packed* Do not come here if smoke smell or smoking is an issue for you. I thought the shot I bought was reasonably priced. I might bring an out of town guest here for a feel of Houston vibes.

This is one of the weirdest / most unexpected type of places with so much to look at inside, that you have to go see for yourself. One of the best dive bar spots in Houston, without a doubt. Used to be cash only, but I think they take cards now. Stick to beer and simple well drinks; you'll probably be disappointed if your order has more than 2 ingredients (besides ice). Be open minded, polite, maybe even friendly. You'll walk away with a new experience, if nothing else!

Bar lost my debit card & the owner Miguel went off on me as if it was my fault. All of the staff was careless and unhelpful. I will not be back due to the dickhead running it. UPDATE: I received a message from the person who had my card & they mentioned how the bar lost theirs too! Shame on you Miguel & your bartenders! I get shit happens but this obviously shows the lack of attention & care you have handling people's cards.

Great bar, love the service and bartenders been coming since 2016! Cold cheap beer and great people. Have been taking friends and family for years and they all come back. Looking for a good spot to pre game before you go dance or clubbing here it is

Love, love, love this place! I'm a big fan of local dive bars, and this is exactly what I'm looking for when I think of one! I forgot the name of the bartender, but he was a just really, really, cool guy. He was holding like 4-5 different conversations like a pro, and made sure we were never empty on drinks. The $2.75 cans of Founders and $1.75 PBR tallboys also didn't hurt. They were open on a day when the entire city shutdown from some snow and ice on the roads, so we were glad they opened for those that were looking for a place to kill time. They also have an outdoor space, that was a bit too cold for us to check out. Our bartender also gifted us with some stickers for Lola's - if I'm ever back in Houston, I already know I'm coming back here!

Dive, not a fancy classy dive, my heels could possibly get stuck in a crack and I will end up on my knees, a position some will enjoy seeing me in. Mind out of the gutter, I was talking about prayer. Be a woman or get you a woman who can do both! - A woman who can do heels and flip flops. - A woman who can do fruity little drinks and shoot a whisky. - A woman who can bocce and shoot a combo. - A woman who can cha-cha and give you a pole dance. - A woman who can be classy and trampy. Bring me here, I can show you a good time; I can do all of the above. (Not always well but hey) If she can only do the latter of these statements then no question, bring her here she can most definitely show you a good time. - Don't bring her here wearing Louboutin. You can leave your sticker slaps. You can leave your bra. They have an eclectic décor. A food truck is accessible from the outdoor patio. Cheap inexpensive drinks! I was afraid to enter the restroom on my first visit, but it was surprisingly clean and you never run out of toilet paper!

I lost my wallet and called them and they said they weren't gonna look for it until the next day even though they were there it would take them one second to look but they would rather wait 12 plus hours. An hour or two or even a few minutes is the difference in the finding it or not. If one woman worked there I bet she woulda looked but just a bunch of lazy ass men incompetent men. Come here if you wanna wait 30 minutes to get your drink or check out !!

This reminded me of a skinhead bar with a bartender who appeared to ignore the only minorities in the bar. I experienced what felt like complete racism which I have not felt in 20 years. Bartender saw us waiting and completely ignored us and went to his white customers first even though we were standing there for over 5 minutes patiently waiting. When he did come to us, he was a complete asshole, almost trying to make us leave and was condescending. I was in utter disbelief and we all left because it felt too American History X. Reading the other reviews, it seems like my feelings were correct. They need to get with the times and accept that all ethnic backgrounds may frequent. I don't support places or people who would give their business to this type of anti minority establishment.

Yo. This place IS a dive bar in the most negative sense of the phrase. My gf and I walked in, well, attempted to walk inside for a drink and was rudely yelled at by a homeless looking person behind the bar. "Outside!" "Outside!" So we took a step back into the patio and thought, no thank you. Freakin patio is falling apart!!! Screw this place, man. You'd have a better time drinking a quart of beer at a bus stop.

Lola's Depot is a dive bar at the edge of Montrose serving a largely late-twenties hipster crowds. Your options are pretty much beer and well drinks, but they're served cheaply and quickly. The inside is heavily stickered and graffiti'd, featuring a nice long bar, a pool table, and somewhat janky bathrooms. They even have a cigarette machine! The back patio is where the action seems to be, and most customers look like Montrose creative types (e.g. heavily tattooed but not intimidating); the crowd looks a bit older and more mixed inside. There are long covered picnic benches and a smoking area, as well as a food truck. Overall this was a pleasantly no-attitude dive bar and a cool place to meet up with friends. There's a good energy here.

This place is an awesome bar to start at when bar hopping with friends because their drinks are cheap and strong so be careful lol. I had one drink on A Saturday two months ago and buy the time I finished the second one, there was no need to keep going. The Bra's hanging from the ceiling gives it the perfect dive bar experience. Sometimes they'll have someone come in and Dj/ control the music selection so you could possibly request what song (s) you'd like to hear.

Great place to hang out with friends w/cheap drinks on Tuesday and Sundays ($1.75 wells/PBR). Sanitation, toss that out the window. You won't notice it after two generously-poured shots.

Ha! this place was a complete diamond in the rough. We unfortunately booked a trip without really looking at a calendar and ended up in Downtown Houston on Thanksgiving! It was ghost town but we met some great people who helped us and told us to come to Lola's (thats the place to be they said!). My husband and i had our first date at a dive bar as i love dive bars, drinks are great and cheap and you can have some of the best unfiltered conversations there. Lola's blew us away with a surly teddybear of a bartender, and i say this most lovingly because he was great and how he kept a straight face was beyond me! there were pool tables and scandalous things scribbled everywhere, a place with history thats worth checking out! Extra tip they had like a gazillion toilet paper holders in the bathroom so you never had to choose! lol We met some great regulars and we had the time of our life at Lola's Depot!!! please always be there, you might be the only reason we come back and we will live right on your barstools :)

It's not that I don't like this bar. I still love the divey nature and the down to business bartenders that have been here forever. It's just the number of drugged out creeps here is really taxing. And don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of positive interactions with the young patrons here as well, but I'm more wary of coming here alone more than ever, at least when I look like I didn't just roll out of bed. Also, they took away the lovely parking area and there's condos in their place. Parking is a lot more tricky now.

My Go to! I hung my bra up the first time stepping into this beautiful place. If your weird , you like options with your toiletries and have a heart of gold this is a place is for you. people WILL talk to you and treat you like they've known you for years it's amazing Kenny is a Gem but we all know that Oh ya drinks are a great price all day everyday

Good old Lola's Depot aka the purple house!!! This place is great!! Always a good time, because of the people and the drinks, it's not the fraternal house bathrooms or that basement decor, which to me says welcome do whatever the f*ck you want, just know you will be thrown out of here only to return another night to be welcome to do it all over again.

This is really a cool nice bar! I came here on a Saturday night and I love it. So the drinks here are cheap and not bad at all. The ppl here were all really nice and fun. I will come back here again if I am in this area!

I remember the first time I went into this bar, oh wait, I really don't because I got so hammered that I don't recall much that night. When people say they want to check out dive bars in Houston, I will certainly take them to this place. I just like the fact that there's $2 well until 11PM, which means it's a great place to get fueled up with booze before going elsewhere or stay there and chat with a variety of characters. Since Lola's Depot is a dive bar, it is best to pay with cash. Yes, they do accept credit card but there's a minimum charge on it. Of course most likely you will reach that minimum in no time but it's always faster with cash as the bar gets busy from time to time. There's also a small bar out on the patio area as well. Sometimes they will have a food truck that serves food too. Back on the inside, there's pool tables where you can simply ask to play the next game and meet new people, that is of course you pay for the game. Now the restroom is nothing to write about because you can see the pictures and it's a dive bar restroom, as long as it works, then that's good enough. One thing you'll notice is the ceiling and the wall is full of memorabilia and stickers, again, don't get intimidated by this dive-y look. Parking is a hassle as there's only so many street parkings near the bar. So far I had nothing but good times there. I even met a random Yelp Elite on one visit during a random chat with people out on the patio. When you feel like you are tight on money and still want to get trashed, you should think about coming to this bar for an interesting time of your life.

Lola's is a dive bar (if that weren't obvious by the many pictures and reviews). For those that aren't familiar with what a dive bar entails, let me put it this way; it's probably not someplace you would take your parents (unless they sport tattoos and listen to metal). I'm not saying that to dissuade anybody, but only to set the expectations straight. That being said, this is the best dive bar I've been to. Cheap drinks, cool/edgy decor, AWESOME music selection (from classics to metal/rock hits), dimly lit and usually fairly crowded, you probably know by now if this is your type of place. I've met awesome people here, most recently a regular and her friend who I had a wonderful time socializing with. I've come here both alone and with friends, and I always have a great time. Now all this praise does come with a couple cons. First off, drinks are served in plastic cups, which is somewhat expected for the cheap price, but that could be a turn off to some. Also, there is no parking lot so you'll either have to look for street parking (usually not that hard to find if you know where to look) or pay $10 to park at a nearby lot. It's worth mentioning that the bartenders work hard, but expect to have to wait for drinks during busy nights. Patience is a virtue! All in all, Lola's Depot is exactly what I want out of a bar. Inexpensive drinks, my favorite genre of music, and an intriguing place to chill and chat.

This is hands down my absolute most favorite dive bar in Houston. Anyone and everyone is welcome and there is never any drama. I'm always greeted and treated well by staff. I can't wait for them to open up their doors again.

Look, I think the spot suits "it's crowd", but it's not totally my jam. If you're one of those super social, awkwardly inked, colorful hair types, that would prefer an evening bike ride, more than a romp in the car... This is your jam. You know who you are, don't front on me, I see you through those overly sized thick frames glasses. Drinks are on the cheap side, but it's sorta a grimey spot... I can't tell if it's intentional, or it's part of the image of the place. And I think I got over my whiskey being served in plastic disposable cups back in college... ‍ Don't come here on a date. Don't come here to enjoy a drink and have engaging conversation with the neighborhood locals. Come here to be super hip and trendy and all about that hip@#$ life (we don't use that word, it's a bad word).
