I previously wrote a review of Lola's that doesn't reflect my current opinion. I've frequented this place over a long period and have nothing but love for it. The overall food quality and flavors are good, and I doubt you could leave terribly disappointed. However, my previous criticism of the sauces tasting unauthentic still stands. The aji Verde or green aji, is really mayo forward, I've tried this sauce in other Peruvian spots and this one isn't it. On the subject of inauthenticity, this was apparent when I ordered the Jalea de Mariscos, which was served with tartar sauce instead of salsa criolla. Although I later discovered you can order salsa criolla on the side, it's disappointing that it's not the default option (you can get fish and chips with tartar sauce at many places, but salsa criolla is what makes this dish better).
I also want to correct an incorrect claim from my last review. I had spoken to a waiter about the lack of beef heart anticucho one time I was there, and she made it sound like it was removed from the menu in favor of a fish variant of the same type of dish. This was false, as I found out during a later visit, that they did have beef heart anticucho, which is very good and worth trying. Additionally, during this visit, I was offered one small breadstick and charged 50¢ for another. I'm not sure if this is still the norm, but if it is, that is insane. This is also a sore spot for me, this place has always been a touch more expensive than other Peruvian spots, and with these new issues, I find it very hard to justify the apparent overall price increase.
Despite these issues, there is still good food here, ambience, a good happy hour, and live music. However, more and more with the issues I mentioned and the raised price tag, it might help you to look at the other nearby Peruvian restaurants as well.
