"Joaquin and Dolores “Lolita” Farfan opened their first Lolita’s restaurant in Chula Vista in 1984. They pride themselves on their ingredients, delivered fresh every day. Although it’s a causal taco shop, each item is made to order. “Patience is the essence of Mexican food” is written on the walls at Lolita’s, and you can taste this ethos in the menu. Joaquin developed his own carne asada recipe for the restaurant, a dish that’s seasoned carefully. As such, Lolita’s is at the heart of the taco shop scene in South Bay. You can’t go wrong with the carne asada fries and California burrito, either." - Kristin Díaz de Sandi

Look at the tiny size of this carne asada burrito! It’s a Taco Bell-sized burrito, but costs $10? This burrito looks deflated. It looks like it’s trying to move down a weight class. It looks like it got ran over. It looks like the Pixar lamp got to it before I did. I try to look at my glass as half full, but I don’t want to look at my burritos like that. My buddy ordered a carne asada one as well, and it was just as small. Don’t know if I can keep justifying going to Lolita’s when their burritos are minuscule, and I leave still hungry :(( Be prepared to order two burritos if you go here

Google
Hardly any carne asada ?this burrito was 13dlls , terrible very terrible step up Your game Lolita’s, your restaurant looks nice but you food and portions are poor. Also your employees don’t seem happy. You need good management asap last time I’m going. I gave you a second chance , and I am disappointed once again.

Google
Been going to Lolita’s for years! Overall they are a solid place to get decent Mexican food. They are consistent when it comes to taste - service varies - but never horrible. When it is busy - you will wait… typically go for lunch or non-busy times. I do recommend for lunch - the value is absolutely worth it.

Google
The carne asada meat they make is great. Love the flavor and texture. The Spanish rice is also good. Having said that, the refried beans and french fries seemed like they came from a package. Be prepared to wait for your food after placing your order. Ours took over 30 minutes to come out so order ahead of you can. My carne asada burrito was half empty. All the meat and guacamole was on one end with French fries filling up the rest. Parking is easy with the large lots. It’s located in an outdoor food court setting behind the fountain. Right next door is what looks like a church in a commercial space.

Google
Food is always good here, great staff, nice seating. Can't go wrong here! Wait times can get long on busy days, I usually order ahead, food is fresh!

Google
It's fine. Just really over priced. El Pollo Grill at Otay Ranch has much more reasonable prices. I feel like this place is gouging because it's the only food around 6 kid activity businesses.

Erlinda Salcido

Google
I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the Carne Asada. It was very flavorful, tender pieces of meat. The beans remind me of my dad's, refried in good ol bacon grease, yummy! The rice is good too.

Google
Kids and I go there after having fun at Skyzone. Their beans are so good. We tried the loaded nachos and they were awesome. Shredded beef burrito was very tender and had good flavor. The salsa bar is good. Wish they had spicier salsa though, but the radishes and cebollitas are a nice touch.

Yelp
Been going to Lolita's Mexican Food Restaurants for many MANY years. I like the Eastlake location because it's next to the Chula Vista Brewery and can get a drink afterwards. They have enough seating inside and outdoor patio. This location has plenty of parking as well. My favorite steak nachos in San Diego have been the Carne Asada chips from Lolita's restaurant hands down!! They are generous with the amount of meat and guacamole. That's the only thing I order when I'm there. My husband loves their carne asada burritos. The service was good and restaurant is always clean. Congratulations to Lolita's celebrating 40 years!! Happy Yelping!

Carla O.

Yelp
I was visiting Eastlake area of Chula Vista staying at a nearby hotel and was super hungry. As soon as I learned that my favorite Mexican restaurant Lolita's was around the comer located in a business park, I became instantly happy! I had stopped in for lunch and once again I was so happy I came. I had ordered a Pollo Asado burrito which was so perfect that all Mexican restaurants need to be concerned. The very next day after attending church I was faced with the same question where was I going to eat. So, my mind was spinning with so many ideas on where I could go, but I decided to go to Lolita's again! Two days in a row. I ordered my same favorite burrito. The guy at the counter named Troy was so helpful, professional, and polite that my lunch experience was very pleasant upon arrival. I had already placed the order over the phone and came in to quickly pick it up. Troy asked me if I needed lime to go with my burrito as he thought that would make it taste better for me. I said ok yes why not add some citrus flavor to my burrito. He also asked if I needed anything else which was so going out of his way to be extra nice, helpful, and efficient in his job duties. He did care about his customer, me, which was why he went above and beyond. There are a few other workers there that I never asked their name but they also were friendly and helpful to contribute to the teamwork that I observed. Troy, I hope your management sees how valuable and what a great asset you are to Lolita's Mexican restaurant. Not only is the food delicious every time, but you along with the staff is hard working, helpful, professional, and efficient. In addition, I wanted to give a special shout out to the cooks who make this delicious food happen every time. If it was not for them, the restaurant would not operate successfully. Thanks again to Troy, the cooks, and the rest of the staff that make this happy dining experience happen all the time! Keep up the amazing work all of you! I always will be returning and always leaving with a smile and happy! I was so hungry I forgot to snap a photo of my beautiful burrito! Next time!

Yelp
Cashier was a bit salty to my husband since he didn't want anything to eat . Potato rolled or folded tacos lack flavor . No salt or anything. Rice and pico de gallo is also lacking flavor Prices are high for food not to decent . They put foil on my rolled potato to-go order and it made them soggy instead of using a sugarfiber compostable box . Overall, not tasty . I didn't take a pic because I was watching the bachelor and just threw the 3/4 food away . Admittedly, I ate it because I was very hungry .

Alex R.

Yelp
Bought a 2 inch burrito for $15 . Seriously wow! Look at the picture below

Yelp
Horrible experience! Lolita's has gone downhill over the years. Went to the Eastlake location on 6/23/24. There were 8 young employees standing around the register yapping away and not doing a damn thing. Placed my order and went to get my soda from the fountain. There was no ice and it took 15 mins for them to stop joking and laughing around, before someone came to fill the ice. Used the bathroom to find trash over flowing and urine all over both toilet seats. My husband said he found the same thing in the men's room. This is a disgusting establishment!!Their reviews for all locations are down. This is just another filthy taco stand! Don't bother complaining to management. They are incredibly abusive. I hope this location closes down due to my review. They are disgusting!!!!

Victor F.

Yelp
Made my way over to Lolita's Eastlake today. Price increases as if 1/1/24! Great service and attitude from shift manager, Isela! I live 1 block away from Lolita's at Sunbow (E. Palomar in Chula Vista) and the poor service and portion sizes make it impossible for me to remain a customer at this location.

UrGirlsSancho D.

Yelp
SKIMPlitas strikes again. Ordered 5 beef rolled tacos with guacamole. Well they only gave me half of the guacamole I paid for! They put a small pile if guacamole on the 3 middle rolled tacos and none on the outer ones. FN ridiculous! $9.00 for 5 rolled tacos and they skimp on the guacamole. They always skimp on the guacamole but sometimes they under do it! Expensive a$$ food and they always give small portions. Boycott these fools. Run them outta business. Farfan greedy losers. 40 years screwing over your customers.

Justin And Kristina 1.

Yelp
NANCY the manager is a horrible person who would rather fight with a PAID customer instead of resolving the issue on Lolita's end. I am still out $32.19 and still have not received any food for my money. Lolita's STOLE my money and NANCY fought with me instead of giving me my money back or my food that I paid for!!! My wife and I placed our order on the Lolita's website and when we arrived at 5:50pm Saturday, November 18 2023 Nancy said she couldn't find our order. Our order number is 58787. Nancy said we have to pay again and wait behind everyone else in line which is another 30-40 minute wait!!! We placed an order in advance to avoid the long wait!! We have a 16 day old baby!!! I told Nancy to Atleast give me my money back and she said no, Nancy will not give me my money back or my food!!! Horrible horrible customer service! The food is good yes, but I will never recommend going to this location while this despicable manager works there. Horrible person and karma does come back around Nancy.

Efren B.

Yelp
The size of their burritos now are a friggin joke. Been going to all the lolitas joints since the beginning. The prices have been going up and the serving sizes have been going down. I guess that's inflation for you. Sad to see it like this now. It still tastes good at least.

Janelle W.

Yelp
I used to love this place. I would order carne asada fries every day when I was postpartum for a whole two weeks. I think the service is great but the food is just lacking love. Also I want this review to be read by management. Today I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. It was made without cheese. So, I looked at my receipt and the kitchen ticket they placed inside my bag. On my receipt it reads bean and cheese but on the kitchen ticket it reads Bean burrito. You need to correct the way it reads for the kitchen please. Ty

Victor G.

Yelp
Ordered a California burrito with extra guacamole , this is what i got no sour cream and a smear of guacamole not to mention the difference between fries and actual meat,, green salsa was good , place was nice and workers were also nice, I just hate that when you pay extra you still get a shit of a job on your food ,, ohh well

Jim D.

Yelp
This is a photo of our pollo asada burrito cut right down the center. Of course, I would expect the very end would look like this but not the whole burrito. The center of the burrito should be much more filling than tortilla. At least, that's what I always remember seeing for the last 50 years. You can just imagine what a slice at the end looked like. It was a solid inch thick of pure tortilla shell. I find it hard to actually call this a burrito, I think it should be called "a giant tortilla with a tiny bit of filling" or we could call it " I forgot to put the pollo asada in the giant tortilla." What would you call it? By the way, the price of a pollo asada burrito at Lolitas has increased 13.6% since last year. That's a large increase for a giant tortilla with almost nothing inside. Just a thought, but is Lolitas now using giant 24 inch diameter tortillas and less meat to save costs on their end???

Nikky T.

Yelp
I would visit for the ambiance. Burrito was VERY dry. I used to love Lolita's but that's the last time I'll be there.

Jason V.

Yelp
It's really too bad that the service here is horrible because the food is actually ok. Be sure to check your order when you get it, because 7 out of 10 times it's going to be wrong:/ I remember many years ago, this used to be our go to.. Not any more.

David H.

Yelp
Forget the 'Bertos taco shops, this is San Diego's OG taco shop IMO..been coming here for close to 40 years now. The menu has grown as well as the number of locations ..but what hasn't changed is the consistency of food across their multiple locations. From the rolled tacos ..to the Carne Asada burrito you will not go wrong here . My favorites are the chips with guacamole..add the carne asada and more than enough for 2-3 to share . Been here way too many times but never left a review. This trip kept simple with the carne asada fries. Everything here is highly recommended. If visiting SD this is a must stop!

An R.

Yelp
Small carne asada burrito, Very little meat, lacked flavor too much tortilla. Forgot to add the guac that was paid for in another cali burrito that we ordered. Quality has gone down at this location. Wont be returning here unfortunately been going to this location for years.

Rocio M.

Yelp
Horrible food! I ordered some basic supreme nachos and they couldn't even get that right! It hardly had any cheese on it and I asked for extra wet cheese and they gave me some other shi

Yelp
Love the food ... but service can be inconsistent in regard to friendliness . I do feel like it has improved though !

Esther C.

Yelp
Great Mexican food! Employees always friendly and amiable. Restaurants are always clean.

Emmanuel M.

Yelp
The service was very bad they do not give you forks, napkins, spoons or knives. Unless you ask for them. I live 45 minutes away, and I came down here to pick up some food. I noticed on the way back home. There was no utensils and I called Lolitas And I asked them why wasn't there any utensils in the plastic bag and they basically said you have to ask for them. The managers name is Nancy. She was very rude and the food was very dry. There was no salsa or nothing included. Do not come to this company here in Eastlake, we had to get utensils from another business across the street. There's no love in the food WACK!

Branson U.

Yelp
Lolita's is one of the Staple restaurants here in San Diego. They have a lot of staple meals to be ordered. Whether it is California Burrito, Carne Asada Fry's or Chips. The rolled tacos Supreme are also a great choice. For breakfast they have great breakfast burritos (Deluxe is the go to) I believe that when visiting San Diego you most definitely need to hit up Lolita's. I have been to quite a few of the locations around San Diego county and can really say that the food quality does not waiver depending on location. Eastlake's location does get quite busy and understandably it seems they are always short staffed so just make sure to utilize the online ordering system or call ahead.

rebekah p.

Yelp
Ordered the Tsunami burrito tonight at Lolita's in Eastlake. Usually it's good, but tonight the burrito was half tortilla.

David H.

Yelp
If you want Lolita's go to the one off Bonita. This place is trash. So I go order $50 worth food. And 3 of the tacos I get are old tortillas with just meat. No fixing inside. And let me state I tipped them cash also. I go to the desk. Open my food and ask can I pay for some guacamole or something because these tacos are not tacos. Nothing but attitude like I was in the wrong. If you want tacos your better off going to Taco Bell. This place is horrible ‍ never again!

Vanessa N.

Yelp
Called ahead of time to order for pick up. I'm pregnant and can't stand onions right now. I asked for no onions in my burrito. I pick up and the girl working the cashier was so rude and looked like she hated her job. I get home and of course there's onions in my burrito. Not the first time it's happened either. Definitely not a fan anymore.

Eileen R.

Yelp
...I Hope the Employees would have a Better Attitude & Treat their Customers Better. I wanted to let them Know that, God Loves them.* So, I paid full price for a Cali Burrito (without the meat). And, it was so small...& Light. I went back to Ask about it. & I didn't like how I was Treated. ***Overall, it was a Toxic & Narcissistic Experience.*** *I didn't appreciate the young girl's Manners, who was working Monday tonight on the register, (8:30pm, 4/10/23), while I was talking to her. She was Looking Down....lacking Care and Empathy, when I was talking about Standing up for myself. There was also a young very Tall guy. I Sensed he also Lacked Empathy. Both didn't Show any Care/Concern.... When I asked about my Order..the guy responded on the phone, "Did you Ask for Extra Fries?" Y'all, This was very Gaslighting. *I also asked if they can put more cheese on my rolled tacos... (because there was barely none). The guy Sighing to Assist my Customer Needs, gave him away. *I Appreciated the manager w the glasses who came to Help me out. She Stepped in & She took care of my situation & Apologized. Which was Great. She helped finding a Solution that would Help the next time I order.... I found her to be more of a people-person. But, I have to call out, I didn't like when I was talking... there was a moment she was not paying attention...& that was pretty rude. **She had also asked me if I Asked for Extra Fries, which was very Interesting... it just doesn't make Sense to me. *I paid full price, had the carne meat taken out... the meat is obviously more Expensive than Fries. ***I felt Manipulated & Confused that they made it be about me (the Customer) not asking for Extra fries.... ***I See the Dynamics of How this Company is Run & it's Toxic & Narcissistic~~~not about the people. So Beware. They re-made me a burrito. Which was Nice. But, I hate to Say.... I tasted the burrito. The fries and Tortilla were really hard to bite into...the fries were Stale. The burrito was Dry. I didn't feel right to eat it, after the Horrible Experience, as well. Unfortunately, Everything had to go into the Trash. And, I ended up making myself a Healthy dinner.

Richard R.

Yelp
An absolute embarrassment and trash taco shop. Have been coming to this place for over 30 years and today was mine and my families last. Ordered 6 bean burritos with extra cheese and I might as week asked for no cheese. It's as if they were offended that I paid $2 extra on each burrito for extra cheese as they gave me as close to zero queso as you can imagine. To add an extra kick in the nuts, ordered online. Went 15 Minutes after ordered and then waited 15inutes for food of walkins to be prepared before mine as I waited. Never again. Not even to your L street location. Bye bye garbage shop

Monica I.

Yelp
I love this place. The supreme potato and/or beef rolled tacos are one of my favorites.

Monkey B.

Yelp
Excellent customer service the rice was delicious. I ordered a tray for Christmas to go with my Christmas dinner it was delish!!

Marissa P.

Yelp
Lolita's seems to be a highly recommended taco shop in San Diego. The food is definitely very good, but tbh, I feel like their portions don't match the price. They're definitely on the more expensive end for a taco shop. Im a native and I know most taco shop's prices have gone up, but they're portions have usually remained the same, and they're usually in the larger side (like Saritas in spring valley, their burritos are the size of my arm!) So yeah, I know times are hard right now and I'm not really trying to knock them, I just feel like you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. Again, great food though! The service was good and the restaurant was clean when I won't! If you go, you won't be disappointed, just keep in mind what I mentioned above! Thanks Lolita's team!

Kathleen Y.

Yelp
Was it really a trip to SD if you didn't stop by Lolita's?? SD has some of the best mexican food, and iykyk. Some of ya'll are bouta hate on me for even mentioning Lolita's, but you can't argue that's it's a staple, especially if you're visiting Chula Vista. I remember visiting family over here as a kid, and looking forward to getting some fries or a california burrito every trip. It was my first real encounter with loaded fries, and I've been loyal ever since. This location has a nice outdoor seating area, and has a lot of parking available, which was nice. I used to frequent the one on East Palomar since it's closer to my family's house, but this one was closer to our location at the time. What we got: *Carne Asada Fries *Beef Rolled Tacos with Sour Cream We took our order to go, so it was a bit cold when we got to our hotel. Buuut still good. That red salsa they have compliments their food so well! I drenched my fries in it. And their rolled tacos are simple and delicious. Hub and I were very satisfied. If you've only ever had Norcal's version of carne asada fries, you'll have to come down south where they do it best, at least in my opinion. There's just no comparison!

Kiara R.

Yelp
This location continues to fail me even it being the one closest to me I called to mention the bacon wasn't cooked and how i was picking it out. All the manager told me was to ask for it crispy next time.. girl what? I didn't know i had to specify how to cook bacon, if it's still fatty and pink like this why serve it? How about cook your bacon to some kind of crisp Save your time and coins by going to the other OG locations

Antoinette M.

Yelp
The food is ok The service is ok The floor and tables are dirty. No one cleans the condiments counter, table and no one sweeps the floors.

Andrea V.

Yelp
Lolita's is my go to Mexican food here in Chula Vista. It's always busy, so I recommend ordering over the phone and picking it up. Otherwise, be prepared to wait in line and wait for your food. If you order over the phone, you just go up and pay, saving the wait in line. They are really busy on Friday's and Saturdays, and now closed on Sundays. But I love their food here, everything except their rolled tacos are good. I had their rolled tacos once and will never make that mistake. They were thin, barely had any meat inside, and they don't put much guac on them making them super dry. I typically always order the carne asada fries, hard tacos w/beef, carne asada plates, and California burritos. I love their beans and always order a side of it. Their hot sauce is bomb and I love it. The green and their red hot sauce has great flavor and a small kick that allows you to still enjoy your food. They have a salsa bar where you can pour your own and can get as many as you like. This is a plus for me, especially when some places only give you 2 per item, make you pay for more, or make you feel like you're bothering them asking for more. I love hot sauce on my food, so this is awesome. The food tastes great, always fresh and filling, and I've always had good reliable food here I enjoy. It's fast, convenient, and prices are reasonable. Looking for some good Mexican food, this place never disappoints.

Gabriela A.

Yelp
2/13/24 - -at approximately 1900 hrs . went in to the Eastlake location, ordered our food and my son went up to ask for a straw, it was truly given to him with an attitude as if he was interrupting the employee (wearing a green polo - shift manager) conversation with the other employees. I assume the shift manager was hungry as she had ordered her food that was sitting on the counter and was eating in front of customers along with another employee. Mark - was the only employee that truly cared and was doing his job!

Matthew R.

Yelp
Lol chip incident again. Also they don't do complimentary chips on the side to enjoy the Mexican food...you have to pay an extra 2.30 and you'll get a large ass tray of chips enough for 3 ppl. Nah skip this place and go to another taco shop that's legit where they serve free chips and spicy carrots lol also the burritos here are sooooooo small lol

Karry S.

Yelp
This review is for an employee!! I believe her name is Bianca, hope I'm right! She was AMAZING!! She provided excelente customer service! Thank you :)

Josh C.

Yelp
This is the size of a burrito. Are you kidding me? Btw, you'll pay a premium price for this. This is my last time there, no thanks. I feel robed lol

C S B.

Yelp
Been going to lolita's for years. This location is by far the WORST. We ordered dinner here for delivery and all our food was horrible. The Chile relleno plate lacked flavor and was really soggy and the refried beans were dry and hard. The Carne asada chips were stale and hard and meat was overcooked. The quesadilla hardly had any cheese and was basically a tortilla. If you're going to go to a Lolita's location go to the Telegraph one. WAY better quality of food and we're never disappointed with our orders there. Extremely disappointed in in our dinner tonight. Never going to this location again.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
If I could put 0 stars, I would. I ordered my food extra crispy and I got them extra soggy. The food tasted old right after I got it and my family couldn't enjoy theirs as well. We typically go to other Lolita's locations but I think this will be our last time for a while. Definitely unsatisfied.

Laura O.

Yelp
Always love Lolita's food no matter which location. Although this location is not my favorite I do love the modern look! The music is always great and having more than one tv is a plus! Staff is always friendly here.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Waited so long for my order that I had to cancel. The Lolita's in Sunbow has much better service

Mayra L.

Yelp
We come to order and the wait time is 45mn like come on is a taco shop i believe that's unacceptable!!!

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
The quality and service of this place has gone so down hill ! The fries were undercooked and soggy. The meat is so greasy I can feel the heartburn developing in every bite . salsa bar is a disgusting germ fest .The staff are all made up of high schoolers who could care less about doing their job properly . Truly disappointing because Lolita's use to be so great

Josh M.

Yelp
The quality of this place is so inconsistent. I ordered a California burrito with extra crispy fries, got a burrito with undercooked fries, with lukewarm, unmelted cheddar cheese inside. I've had the same burrito before and it was much better.

Misael L.

Yelp
Read reviews before deciding to go in to eat . Everyone deserves a chance in life right so I gave it a chance The service while getting order taken was negotiable. I ordered Carne Asada fries, I'm a cook so I ordered them a little different didn't come out as I asked so I brought it up to their attention a gentleman from the kitchen wearing glasses assisted me I told him the little situation , didn't hesitate and remade my order on to how I expected it to be. A young lady named Jazmine checked up on me 3 times to see how we were doing. Cleanliness is on point It's cold inside which makes food get cold but then again a hot restaurant is not enjoyable The carne asada has great seasoning giving it an amazing flavor to your tastebuds. Red salsa spicy good Green salsa has good flavor I believe it has oregano which gives it a different twist. Kids and I experience will we come back? I'll let them find out if I do there'll be another review

Candice C.

Yelp
We waited 50 minutes for our food. We only got carne asada fries and rolled tacos. There were families who arrived after us and got their food before us. I would understand if they were understaffed but there were employees just messing around and talking. When we finally got our food, I asked for some hot carrots and the guy tried charging me even though it didn't say they would be extra anywhere on the menu. I asked if he could give us one bag since it took forever to get our food but he wasn't sympathetic at all. The carne asada fries tastes alright but there wasn't much meat on the fries. The rolled tacos were very dry and didn't have much guacamole and sour cream, even though we paid extra for it. We were very disappointed and will not be coming back again. We only went since it was next to play city.

Jennica S.

Yelp
Though my rating remains the same from four years ago, I've noticed the past times that I've ordered from here (even pre-pandemic), the ratio is off. The other night my family ordered one carne asada burrito, one California burrito, and a large carne asada chips. First of all, their burritos are so much smaller than they used to be. That's always disappointing. Also, there is never enough meat. The burrito had more fries than meat, which is why we got a carne asada burrito also, since it's strictly meat with pico de gallo. The chips had a top layer of barely any meat, and a good third of the chips when you go beyond the surface level, failed to have any sort of toppings. I take good photos of food, so don't let my photos fool you. If I moved the chips around, you'd see no more meat, considering how "deep" the container is.

Jenny K.

Yelp
Been here twice and their customer service is horrible. This will be our last time at this restaurant. I hope whomever goes here will read the reviews before wasting their time. This is not a great way to run a business. They deserve no stars, but you need to put one star in order to write a review!

Justin F.

Yelp
I love this food chain, from great tacos to amazing burritos! All locations are great and I never have an issue with the service nor the food. This location is in Chula Vista area in a small shopping center so parking is vast. The outside area is beautiful with a water fountain out front and a new age architecture look. Since there is a pandemic there is outdoor dining so that you can sit and enjoy your food. The price is decent and a plus is military discount. Once you order the food is quick and ready in no time and the taste is amazing! I never have had a bad experience in any of these locations and will definitely be back again soon!

Leah B.

Yelp
My favorite shrimp burrito place! This is what my daughter, who's in San Francisco, misses. Lolita's! Mexican food in San Francisco will never compare to Lolita's!
