London’s New Restaurant Openings

"José Pizarro has just opened his fifth London restaurant, Lolo. This Bermondsey addition—his third in the area—sounds like it’ll be pretty laid-back, with a Spanish menu that takes you from omelettes and pastries in the morning, to bean salads at lunch, and pork stews for dinner." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Highly recommended! The portions are generous, and the quality price ratio is excellent. The atmosphere is very cozy, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Plus, they have gluten-free bread, which is always a big plus!

Superb new place on Bermondsey street. The food and service are excellent and we like it more and more every time we go. Amazing flavours is what José Pizarro does so well, and this place doesn’t disappoint. It’s obviously improving all the time since the recent opening, with a stunning wine list and fabulous menu changes - it’s fast becoming a firm favourite! Hopefully it will stay a secret and won’t become difficult to book a table!! 🤩

We had dinner at Lolo last night to celebrate a birthday. The food was incredible, we wanted to eat every dish over and over again. The pork ribs melted in your mouth and the chicken parfait was absolutely divine. The eggs are a must!! There was a lovely selection of wine which paired well with the food. The service was absolutely amazing, the team did an incredible job making the night special for us - they went above and beyond and we are very grateful. This restaurant is a must try, we will be back!

Decent food, desserts are excellent - the red prawn carpaccio and the octopus were really good, rest of the apps and mains were okay. The desserts were really yummy, highly recommend. Service was okay, a bit slow considering it wasn’t packed, but friendly. Overall it’s good but not great and, with some improvement, it can be as good as its sister restaurants.

This morning I stopped to enjoy a breakfast at Lolo Bermondsey, and it was absolutely perfect. The dish I chose—poached eggs with wild mushrooms, chorizo, and crostini—was a masterpiece. Each element was perfectly prepared and well-balanced, blending the earthiness of the mushrooms, the smoky richness of the chorizo, and the crisp texture of the crostini. The eggs were flawlessly poached, with a creamy yolk that brought everything together beautifully. The ambiance of Lolo Bermondsey added to the experience, with its warm, inviting atmosphere and attention to detail in every corner of the space. I’ll definitely be returning!

Newly opened Lolo by Jose Pizarro is a great little restaurant. The interior is tastefully decorated, although we opted to sit outside as it was a warm evening. The service is friendly and attentive. We ordered the cuttlefish, tuna with red peppers, octopus, and the pork stew. Everything was well cooked, and presented nicely. The standout dishes being the octopus and the pork stew (although I would not class it as a "big plate", a slightly bigger portion should be created to do it justice). A perfect restaurant for sharing plates and trying out a little of everything.

This is the latest addition to the José Pizarro portfolio, and, in my opinion, an incredibly good one. It is an all day affair, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, the concept being to give you what you want, when you want it, without being forced to miss out if you missed THAT DISH you wanted to try but it is only on the ( delete as applicable) the dinner menu, or the lunch one. The space is tastefully decorated, very luminous and with some outside seating as well. The service is incredibly good, they know the menu inside out and the staff is really nice, you can see they enjoy talking to their guests and genuinely recommending the dishes that suit their taste. Now the food : I had the devilled eggs with anchovies, and I also ordered the gran Riserva cantabrian anchovies. Both great, the devilled eggs could have had a bit more punch by adding some chillies but were still very nice. The gran riserva cantabrian anchovies were amazing, they came with 2 types of bread, and a little mini concoction of sliced red onions, parsley, lemon and olive oil, totally worth the price. I come from Salerno, and one of the best places in the world for anchovies is Cetara, a few kilometres from Salerno, world renowned for their anchovies and what is called “colatura di alici “; those cantabrian anchovies are on a par with that kind of stratospheric quality. After those starters I had the cuttlefish, squid ink and white rice, probably the star of the show, the complexity and depth of flavour was just perfect, and I could have had 3-4 portions of it; in fact, I suggest they should do an option of having this dish as a Main course, doubling the quantity of it ! I also had the 5J pork with apple and toasted hazelnuts, good but not as incredible as the cuttlefish dish. As desert I had the chocolate mousse with peaches and vermouth ( divine !) and, because I am greedy, plus I have a fear of missing out, and I love desserts, I also ordered the Torreja, a type of dessert I was not familiar with. I am very glad I ordered it as it was spectacular as the previous one! I really enjoyed everything and I’m looking forward to go back to order the rest of the menu! Thank you guys !

We booked a table for breakfast at Lolo and found it an elegant dining experience. I opted for the vegetarian lazy omelette featuring Scottish girolles, hazelnuts, and thyme. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the earthy flavours showcased the high-quality ingredients. Our dining companion chose the lazy omelette with cured salmon, dill, crème fraîche, and Lilliput capers—equally well-executed and bursting with flavour. My partner had baked eggs with pesto and thyme croutons. Everything was delicious and made with exceptional ingredients. We're eager to return and try the all-day dining menu.
