Lolo Mora's Ice Cream

Unusual but delicious sorbet/ice cream which I highly recommend trying for yourself. There is only one flavour - a secret family recipe created over 100 years ago. They offer a variety of desserts, but I opted for the No.1 - which is a generous serving of the sorbet. I loved it - as did both my friends and the many customers (local and international). It’s not a classic vanilla flavour - I would guess it contains banana, cloves and cinnamon. The flavours are delicate, and the sorbet was actually quite refreshing. There are some seats dotted around the kiosk, and there are always people waiting to jump into your seat as soon as you move! Staff were lovely and very friendly. There is also a sink available to wash your hands if needed. Highly recommended!

Very interesting historic place. I highly recommend trying it out. The ice cream is different from any other ice cream I’ve ever tasted before. (In a good way). Sitting down and eating here is a real interesting experience to be around an establishment for the locals. The ice cream is great, service quick, and experience very interesting. This famous sorbet/ice cream by Lolo Mora was established in 1901. The friendly service of Stephan, Alex, and their family team is exceptional. I’m so grateful to be welcomed in this legendary and institutional place. Meeting 2nd and 3rd generation owner is wonderful. I’ve had 3 glasses of delicious 😋😋😋 sorbet. It’s worth a travel of 40 hours from Macau to have a taste of this. The sorbet is with banana, nutmeg, star anise, cinnamon, vanilla and much more. I will return here before I leave Costa Rica.

Came here after getting a full lunch somewhere else in central market. We were curious to try the one ice cream flavor they’ve sold since 1910. So yummy, tastes like a cross between old cola and horchata. Many options, very helpful staff. Yummy!! 10/10

Their sorbet has a very unique taste. We ordered #9 and #11, and both of them were incredibly delicious. The friendly staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely a must-try for anyone in San Jose!

MUST have specialty ice-cream. Can get this from Mercado Central. It’s vanilla sorbeterra (hand-crank ice cream) with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Eat at counter for the experience 😎

Very interesting place with over 100 years of history and only 1 flavor of ice cream!! It taste more like a sorbet. Flavor is similar to Chai with the differnt spices. Personally just thought it was meh but my friend absolutely loved it.

Quite busy but great service. Ice cream is not super creamy but more on the icy side. Vanilla with notes of cinnamon maybe nutmeg, hard to tell. Definitely worth the experience.
