I have no idea if their Egyptian food is authentic, but everything I ate here was delicious! Plus their middle eastern food was some of the best I've ever had. A definite must try.
Its a tiny store front is a nondescript strip mall. Only has a few tables to dine in, so I surmise they do mostly carry out. Build-out is clean, nice, lower budget, but not terribly so. I gather the lady that takes your order is also the cook and likely the owner. She is very friendly and very nice. Made my first experience ordering Egyptian food easy.
Their Monday special was 2 chicken shwarma sandwiches for $6, My friend order that. He got 2 delicious, full size chicken shwarma sandwiches. Oh, their hummus and garlic spread is fantastic too. Comes with very light, crispy pita chips.
I ordered the chick pea soup. Whole chick peas in a highly acidic, but flavorful broth. Surprisingly good. I also ordered the Koshary with ground beef. Portion is HUGE! I mean really huge. It is a mixture of rice, lentils, chick peas and elbow pasta, topped with delicious crispy fried onions. You also get 2 different sauces on the side - one a red sauce and one an acidic garlic sauce. They really make the dish pop. Took much of it home. Reheats very well.
I decided to come back for lunch the very next day. Tried the lemon rice soup and hawawshi. Soup is very thick but not in a starchy way. It's basically very flavorful short grain rice with chunks of chicken meat. More soupy than a soup, but very good. The hawawshi is basically thin dough wrapped around a huge homemade sausage patty. It's like a flavorful flat kafta in dough. Nice spice level. I did not try it with cheese, but suspect it's pretty good either way.
This is a small diner with plastic utensils. I usually knock off a star for plastic utensils; but here the food is so good, it did not really matter. My new favorite lunch spot.
