London City Airport is, without question, one of the most civilised and efficient airports to travel through in the United Kingdom. Its location is superb, offering remarkably convenient access to central London via the DLR, which makes the journey to and from the airport refreshingly straightforward. From the moment one arrives, the entire experience feels calm, orderly, and exceptionally well organised. Security and check-in are handled with impressive efficiency, yet the staff remain unfailingly polite, professional, and helpful throughout. I am in love with this! Did fly from all London airports however London City Airport is a jewel xx The terminal itself is immaculately maintained, bright, and pleasantly modern. Despite its modest size, it offers a thoughtful selection of cafés, restaurants, and shops, all within a comfortable walking distance of the departure gates. The atmosphere is notably relaxed, avoiding the bustle and congestion often found at larger airports. What truly distinguishes London City Airport is its effortless simplicity. The process from arrival at the terminal to boarding the aircraft is remarkably swift and seamless.

London City Airport is easily one of the best airports to use if you’re able to get there. Its biggest advantage is its location — it’s the closest airport to central London, which makes a huge difference, especially if you’re travelling for work. From landing to being back at my desk was incredibly quick; I was at work in London Bridge within just 40 minutes, which is almost unheard of when flying into London 😃. The airport itself is compact and extremely efficient. Because it’s smaller than other London airports, everything feels faster and less stressful. Security queues move quickly, check-in is straightforward, and you don’t have to walk long distances to reach your gate. This makes it ideal for business travellers or anyone who values convenience and time efficiency. Staff throughout the airport were helpful and professional, contributing to a smooth experience overall. Despite its size, the airport has all the essentials you need, including places to grab food, coffee, or a quick drink before your flight. The atmosphere is calm and well organised, which is a refreshing change compared to larger, busier airports. Overall, London City Airport offers a seamless and stress-free travel experience. If convenience, speed, and proximity to central London matter to you, this airport is hard to beat. I would highly recommend it whenever possible.

The airport itself is very well located and very well connected to central London. But UK being UK, of course you need to loot public money whatever it takes. Therefore, for such a small airport and with ample space to pick up customers from the drop off location itself, Uber/Bolt are forced to move to another pick up zone literally 10 steps away so £8 can be looted out of pockets of customers. Surprisingly when you are dropped you also pay £8, so basically a driver pays for going in and coming out of the airport £16.

Always had the best experience at City Airport. Smooth check in and boarding experience. Unlike other airports liquids and electronics don't need to be taken out of the bags. Everything can stay in as is. Truly wish all airports would operate like this. Makes the experience so smooth and hassle free!

London City Airport is such a nice place, especially with the river right next to it. You get a perfect view of planes taking off and landing really close by, which makes it feel quite unique. The whole setting looks beautiful and different from other airports. Mostly used by domestic flights

Airport constantly under refurbishment, the only thing they still improve is the size of shops. In busy time not enough space to move or seat. No lounges. Toilets? Good luck. Security scan modern but not enough to keep with you liquids from outside like in other London airports. Last, in winter high possibility of flight delays or cancellations due fog in the area. If you can, use other airports.

One of the best and most efficient airports in Europe. The people are all seasoned travellers I am sure that helps. Usually this means everything is effectively managed. It’s small and that gives some limitations but its size is also its strength. It’s also very convenient from the City. As you may guess I’m a huge fan. I use it around once a month. Maybe more.

We had a very good experience flying from City Airport. The boarding staff let me board first, because I have an arm in plaster, very kind of them! We totally recommend!

I did not want to fly out of LCY, I wanted to stay at LHR and not have to worry about taking a train across one of the biggest cities in the world in, less than 3 hours, but my original flight was cancelled and this was the best way we could get to Edinburgh. Aside from the stress of trying to get here, the process at LCY was super easy and made a highly stressful situation a bit more manageable. Coming in from the train station (DLR line) there is plenty of signage to get where you are going. There are even check-in kiosks outside of the station for the airport. Going through security was super easy and efficient. I'm in awe of the modernity of the world compared to the US sometimes. We actually got there 10 min before out gate was posted so we wanted to sit down for a sec and get something to eat. I will say that this airport only gets 4 stars because of the seating and the bathrooms, both lacking. We sat a gate that had an info board and to our luck it was OUR GATE!!! Score 1 for us in a day of bad luck. Stress aside, I now know LCY is a good place to take a flight.

A terrible little airport. Disorganized. Everything is stretched out. No jet bridges. Getting on or off aircraft requires stairs. Checkin desks are chaotic. Unless you are going to or from East London, the City airport is NOT more convenient that Heathrow.

Flew into London City and it was a quick and easy experience. Flight landed and was able to deplane, grab luggage, clear customs and immigrations within 15 minutes! The terminal is rather dated. eGates were non-operational and the wait to see an officer was minimal with 6 or so officers in operation. There's a generic ATM available before baggage claim that dispenses local currency. Remember to choose local currency to avoid fees from the ATMs 15% commission to revert back to the card's primary currency. Loos were available and clean enough, albeit a touch tight. The train station is attached to the terminal for a quick journey into the city!

Terrible airport. Unfortunately I had to transfer to another flight through this poor excuse for a "international" airport but had to go through immigration and then security again despite all that being done at AMS, the originating airport. We had a a fairly long layover (3 hours) and wanted to get something to drink. The only bar had the most god awful chairs and we were told we could not sit in the completely empty restaurant seating area. After ordering one round of overpriced drinks, my back could not tolerate any more of the abuse so we got up and left. Avoid this s****e airport at all costs.

Small airport, relatively speaking. Very clean and has the shops and restaurants you'd expect. The holding or waiting areas have lots of charging stations or outlets for cell phones. Signs are posted well and it's easy to get around. Variety of rental car options or cars to hire just a short walk.

Shitty airport. Do not fly out of London from here. The money you save by flying out from here will be spent on them chucking expensive products as well as medical prescriptions from your bag. Notwithstanding the time they waste rummaging through your belongings. They also make up bullshit rules about how they must throw out certain items from your baggage, under the pretense that the items are over 100ml. I would be ok with this, were the items actually out 100ml. However when they were not and I had proved that they were not, they insisted they must still throw them out because, and I quote, "The containers holding them were over 100ml." Ok, well under that logic, shouldn't my water bottle and toothpaste tube be thrown out? Because although they hold under 100ml of liquid, they have the capacity to hold more. I swear, the security lady tried to convince me that my fucking deodorant was a liquid. She also is sited she had to throw out a discontinued 30 Pound hair spray. Fuck this airport. Will never fly out've here again. Utter rubbish.

Small airport, seemed convenient for a flight to Dublin. But we got there early (getting off a cruise ship) and Bag Drop didn't open for an hour. No place to sit on this side of security except the smoking area. One small bench.

Made to take jumper off in public area to put it through security. Barely had anything under it. Then because I protested they made me stand and wait like that until they swabbed it. Of course nothing on my jumper - just petty security staff who aren't focused on doing their job but would rather waste my time and other passengers and try to embarrass me.

Much easier to navigate and a lot less craziness than landing at Heathrow. This was much more convenient to go to the Essex - Cambridge areas. Follow the arrows out to a separate pick up spot for ride share or taxi. They are not allowed to pick you up by the airport entrances.

Small but charming local City airport. You won't be hearing the loud speakers going off every minute. You as the flyer have to pay attention to the screens to locate your gate and know when your flight will take off. Small shops and restaurants once you pass through security. The only funny thing is that as a passenger, you will see the G's (G force) as your plane takes off super fast (not bad, but funny). Overall, loved the experience.

We ended up flying out of and into London City Airport on our excursion to Dublin recently. LCY is a small, but efficient and no-nonsense airport. (+) Location was awesome and the best thing about LCY! You are just 15 minutes from the city center of London (as opposed to a 45-55 minute one way drive to/from Heathrow Airport)! (+) Processing was fairly quick and painless. This is a smaller airport and the lines never seemed to get too crazy at all. We moved through screening and security pretty quickly. (+) You do have some food choices while waiting for your departing flight. Mostly coffee and sandwich shops and convenience type stores. We each just grabbed a sandwich and a drink until we got to our destination. (+) Upon our return to London, it was quick and easy to deplane and get in line for our Uber. We went from getting off the plane to being in our Uber in roughly 10-15 minutes, which I think is pretty fast! (-) It's a little older and going through a bit of construction right now. Nothing flashy, but very effective IMO. Our experiences at LCY were fairly easy and seamless. It is small, but a well run airport. 4 stars. Yay! I'm definitely a fan.

Flew in here from Dublin and it was so easy! LCY and Dublin has a special arrangement, unlike flying into Heathrow, no customs/immigration. They have this small aircraft flying in, boarding takes so short. No jet bridge here, you get to walk just a short distance to the terminal. Baggage claim is fast too. Aircraft was small for my standard carry on luggage, I checked my bag but it came out before I had time to do anything else. My colleague went for restroom, bag came out before he came back. It is so close to the city, no need to take trains to the city. Uber is available and the cost effective way to travel. Free wifi, good enough to request an Uber pick up. I would use this airport again.

It's a small airport with a bit of construction on the go at the moment. It was easy to arrive with great views of London as you land and it took me 5 mins to get through immigration in the morning :-) The airport does smell or fuel as the planes are very close by and the runway is less than 50 meters away. There are a couple of places here for coffee and food and the process of boarding and disembarking was relatively straightforward. The fact that it's close to the city makes this a hugely convenient airport to come in and out of. There is a pickup zone about 100m away from the airport if you order an Uber or taxi. Took me about 5-7 mins to order an Uber and have the driver arrive. I will most likely use this airport again.

I rather liked this airport. It wasn't luxurious, beautiful, nor recreational...but thoughtful. It suited my needs of easy commuting, fast speed to the gates, and electronic conveniences of wifi and charging ports. It's not somewhere I'd enjoy long layover with sparse recreational and shopping offerings, but works perfectly for business travel. Pros: 1. Speedy - took 5 min to use kiosks to print boarding pass, weigh my check in, and print the baggage tag. Then dropped off luggage with no line. Zipped through security in five min. Small airport means quick walk to the gates. 2. Free WiFi that doesn't require a phone number; great for international travelers. 3. Plug and USB outlets every few chairs and on most tables 4. Optimized security process - instead of a line where each person lays out items confusedly and everyone waits...they have an assigned bin area per person. Each person has a bin setup area to put laptop, jackets, bags. For each scanner, there are about 4-5 setup areas. When your bin is ready, you push the bin onto the conveyer belt for scanning. If you need more bins, empty bins reload under the table automatically via conveyer belt. Staff is there to help with your setup. 5. Feedback machines throughout washrooms, security checkpoints, shops. These little stands have buttons with smilies to frownies, so it is simple to rate your experience. I don't know how useful these are, but the fact they ask is nice. 6. Easy access via Underground to Central London 7. Cheaper airport fees than Heathrow 8. Pret A Manger is here! Cons: 1. Not much for shopping/dining options, nor duty free offerings 2. Feels like an office 3. For the posh business travelers, no lounges seen 4. Under construction 5. Gate numbers didn't show up until 30 min before the flight. Not a big deal.

Super tiny airport. More of a locals get in and out airport for domestic travel within the EU. It was interesting you land and walk out of the plane on to the tarmac and into the airport. It's a little confusing if you've never been to this airport before. Signage wasn't all that great so my coworkers and I spent sometime trying to figure out if we were supposed to go through immigration or not since we didn't hold an EU passport. In any case the airport was small and nimble.

I've only departed from London City, but I have to say that I am impressed. It's very simple and very organized and very efficient. Early in the morning, from the DLR through security and into the terminal and out to the plane, expect ten minutes if everything is aligning properly. Most of the passengers will be City bankers and the like, on their way to Geneva and Zurich and other major European capitals. Which isn't to say that there aren't also flights to Nice and Edinburgh too! There is a Pret in the lobby and other coffee type things that make it easy to grab a quick bite for later consumption on the plane.

I took a flight from Rotterdam (RTM) to London City Airport (LCY) so this review is about arriving here and going through customs. The walk from the plane to customs is a long, narrow hallway which it seemed forever to walk. The customs agent was pleasant though unlike in most other places and was finished with a minute or so. The line wasn't too long as this flight arrived late evening. I didn't even have to wait too long to get my luggage either. Information desk was helpful and pointed me in the right direction for questions about public transportation.

My first experience of London City was a great one - I flew in here in here on the first flight out of Belfast City Airport and I couldn't have been more impressed. The airport is literally in the centre on London - I was surprised about how close it actually was. The transport links are fantastic - there's an overground train that connects with the underground and I'm reliably informed that you can get an Uber in to Canary Warf for under a tenner. The airport itself is small and easy to navigate - from disembarking the plane to being outside took about 7 minutes which is remarkable. You can see why it's so popular with commuters. Next time I fly to London I'll be trying to book a flight to LCY. Flybe fly direct from Belfast City and if you book in advance single flights can be around £50!

One star for convenience. There's really nothing else to say. It's what you'd expect from a regional airport.

What a grave oversight that I haven't bestowed 5 high flying stars to my beloved LCY - London City Airport! I will spend much brainpower masterminding flights to start or end at LCY. It is just simply, the best in and out of London. Its petite and caters to business travelers. It has limited destinations (almost all in Europe -- but I did see an NYC flight on the boards recently!) to mostly islands and banking hubs, but if you find yourself with a direct flight from LCY, you can breathe a sigh of relief. It will not nearly be the hell of Heathrow or gall of Gatwick. Surliness of Stansted or longhaul of Luton. Yes, London City -- you're my love. They do what they do, and very well. Of course, I'm a bit biased as I live in East London and thus it takes a very short time for me to arrive there either by car or DLR...so I start out on a good note! Highly recommend the DLR, it literally drops you off directly in the station and its a rather scenic trip in mostly above ground. If you must taxi or minicab, it is also quite easy drop off and straight into the terminal. I've flown both City Jet and BA, all airlines are served by a small check-in hub that generally moves quickly as does security. Once in the secure area it has all the necessities (Nero, Boots, WH Smith, etc) -- and plenty of seating, plugs, chargers and free wifi. (Business Traveler needs -- met!). It can get busy, but never overly so. It's cramped but once you head to your gate you'll be boarding and on your way, so not to fret. Pro-tip: the food options inside are a bit limited for the grab n go variety. Pret (before security) is my preferred option so I grab a few snacks there before going in, and then water or coffee inside. Panopolis (both before and after security) is a huge ripoff. Best airport in London - if you can, do.

I was amazed how easy, fast and hassle free, flying to and from Dublin was via LCY. We landed and within 2 blinks we were fetching a taxi. No Fuss No Stress!

Flew into LCY from Amsterdam and it was so damn easy. I thought I landed at the Burbank Airport! The uber ride into London (near the Waterloo station) was 28 pounds.

A nice little airport. Efficient and very clean. And everything is sooooooo close. You never need to walk far to go anywhere in here. Security on the way home were the nicest I've ever dealt with in the last number of years, if not ever (for me). With the DLR at the front door, you can get to where ever you want a lot quicker that the other London airports. Sadly a star dropped for gate 2b. It's like a corral. They scan your boarding card and then you wait with everyone else in a relatively small space for the actual boarding to start. You're lucky if yo get a seat. Why airports do this baffles me. But apart from that, a great experience.

This is now my favourite airport especially for business travel. Check in is swift and swifter still when all you have is hand luggage. Security queues go down pretty quickly even in peak times e.g Monday morning and I get the least security checks at this airport so I love it! I'm still on the habit of getting here an hour before my flight but, it isn't really necessary unless you wish to fill up on a meal first. Sorry but I do love the lack of babies and travelling families. Also not having to fight through long lost family greetings of fellow passengers as you try and just get out of the airport. Easy train (DLR) journey which my travelcard accommodates so, no extra cost getting here as City Airport is snugly in zone 3. Ample seating so easy to work or catch up on Yelp reviews. Charging facilities which do become free as no one is generally sat here for hours. And, let's not forget fee wifi of course. Decent selection of necessary shops. Food, drink, Boots and Smiths for the odd forgotten thing. Wish I'd changed to this airport ages ago.

I think this is the best airport in London. Not too big and not too small. Very easy to get to, especially if you live in north, east or central London. The airport has recently been revamped and security has been upgraded so I whizzed through security in 4 minutes max!! That includes queuing, grabbing my clear plastic bag from my luggage, taking my jacket off and putting onto the tray and walking through the security machine. Lots of places to eat now (compared to two years ago) and much better shopping. If you have a short haul flight to Europe from London, this is your best airport. Very chilled and easy to get around. Highly recommend this airport!!

I hardly write reviews. I wish there was a zero star option. Worst airport with operations from the 1940s, get with the 21st century!! Security screening is a disaster. How do you not understand basic screening measures? Upgrade your tech or go away. Terrible. Why even have screening machines?? Just check everything manually by a human. Take note people, give yourself a LOT of time if you have to go thru this airport, you've been warned. No matter how diligent and amazing you are at packing and separating liquids, they'll pillage thru your shit like barbarians. Gate numbers. They don't get assigned until 5 mins before you board. So everyone is queued up in the center area of the airport staring at the departure board wondering when the hell it'll update. Eventually someone comes out (airport staff) and makes an announcement, without a microphone so you can't hear. Shouting out the gate assignments off a piece of paper. Then the mad rush to the gate. Unreal. This airport stands out of place being in a modern and advanced country. This is what air travel must've been like in 1950s.

Omg. Central London. Minimal lines. Minimal chaos. Minimal hassle. It's meant for business travelers but honestly it's the best place to start a holiday. If you start your holiday at any of the other London airports, you'll probably spend the first 48 hours at your destination trying to decompress. Fly from City airport and the world starts feeling lighter immediately.

Without a doubt, my favourite airport in Europe. It's virtually hassle free whether you're arriving or departing and everything is quick quick quick. I've never waited more than ten minutes to get through the immigration queue or to retrieve my checked luggage. Recently remodeled, London City (LCY) now has even more pre-flight seating and dining options. On my last visit I sat in a comfortable chair and ate some Greek yogurt and honey before departure. I never dread flying in or out of here and that's saying a lot. In fact, my only fault with LCY is that they don't fly transatlantic!

Flew in here today for the first time and was especially impressed with its efficiency on all fronts - clearing passport control, baggage claim, DLR/transport connections, and modest lobby food and drink. MILES different from Heathrow, pun intended! Though it's unlikely I'll be able to use this airport on any future flights from the US, I will keep my eyes peeled for an opportunity, and remember today's experience with appreciation.

In terms of airports this place is definitely one of the best to fly in and out of. Nice shops, bars and restaurants available. Quick and streamlined security and waiting area. No 20 min walks to your gate here. So always plenty of time for a quick pint before going to your gate. Views when taking off and landing are pretty cool as it's right in the centre of some key sites in London. There is also good onward transport options via the DLR If your weighing up flight options and you have the chance to fly via London City you can't really go wrong.

Of all the airports I have been to this is the best - best choice of coffee and food & best facilities. It was early on a Thursday but it was fairly quiet. Easy to get through security. Plenty of seats with plugs etc, cosy sofa seating, good coffee shops, a few retail shops. Overall a pleasant experience which I can't say for places like Stansted & Luton. Will definitely be keeping an eye to travel via City in future

5 stars for London City! This is clearly the sophisticated rich uncle of the London area airports. It's quite small, as are the short haul jets to financial capitals and European islands, so you'll be in and out in no time. Monday morning security lines can snake around as the capacity is clearly lower than Heathrow, but there's a cool, calm, collected business traveler vibe to this airport that I really enjoy. Plus, free wifi. Also, please don't call the immigration police but I'm fairly sure I just breezed out of this airport sans landing card, sans fingerprint check, just a clean 5 mins from touchdown to taxi.

I love LCY, just a half hour drive from home it's the most convenient departure point for my regular work trips to Edinburgh. The Airport has recently gone thro a modernisation and the security area is now much more streamlined although I would still give plenty of time to get thro at peak periods I have managed to leave home at 6am and be checked and ready sitting at the gate at 6.45

Sometimes you just want to get home, sometimes you just want to get where you need to get to and sometimes you want to revel in the travelling experience. London City airport lets you carry out all of these imperatives without as many of the irritations that frequently blight air travel and airports. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) connects directly to the airport making it relatively easy and cheap to get in and out of. It's always a big plus not to finish your journey with a crippling taxi-fare.The airport mostly handles short-haul and domestic flights; catering to weekend breakers, the business crowd and a lot Scottish people. I hear this is the preferred transport for the breakfast TV goddess that is Lorraine Kelly who regularly shuttles between London and her home town of Dundee. This business market means that there are significantly fewer screaming kids; again a step in the right direction when I want to head back to my parents house. In addition, because it only deals with short-haul flights, there seem to be fewer delays because they can't lose their runway spot to the more lucrative long-haul flights. The airport carries an impression of professionalism, efficiency and cleanliness that other airports sometime lack. However, like all airports, you will end up paying through the nose for if you stop for just a second. It was eye-wateringly close to a tenner for a glass of white wine and a beer and despite the icy chilled glasses, I couldn't help feeling a little ripped off. A limited list of destinations means that this airport isn't for everyone and isn't for every journey however, if you can afford it and you would prefer a little more comfort and convenience for your short haul flight, then London city makes a welcome change from the pattern of sticky-carpeted, delay ridden nightmares that other airports boast.

Most centrally located airport, this is a smaller airport though everything works like clockwork here; being that bit smaller, everything from arrival/check-in/security to boarding the plane is just super efficient. Well connected with the DLR literally just outside the door, you can be in bank within 20mins! Not bed, eh! This will always be my preferred airport when coming/going from London.

Super small airport as they are for more regional flights. Not many food options and line to check-in is ridiculously slow and long. Travelling with a toddler wasnt fun either and British Airways wasn't very accommodating.

Soooooo this is my new favourite place. I don't think I've ever been so calm at an airport before. I'd pre checked in so simply needed to drop my bag off... No queue. I repeat, no queue! I walked straight up to the drop off point, handed over my passport, was handed back a boarding pass and through departures and bagging check within 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES?! There's plenty of shops and a duty free to stock up on those much needed flight essentials! Boots meal deal and a hot chocolate obv. Nice lounge area, perfect for waiting for your flight in a relaxed environment. Basically this airport is the best and I will never fly from another again - OK, that's a lie - but if it was possible I would only ever fly from this London airport! :) happy flyer!

This was my first time at the City Airport, and what a delight. Having experienced Heathrow and Frankfurt on the outward legs of the journey - and both were good examples of how big is not always better - coming to somewhere small is a revelation. We walked off the plane all of 30m to the 'gate' - or a door, in this case: and a short walk, no queues at passport control, to the smallest baggage reclaim I've ever seen (two belts) and then into the small but airy terminal. Although it is small, it has all the basic range of shops and services that you are likely to need. Even better, the new Docklands Light Railway station has been built onto the terminal building, so it's only another 50m walk - all on the level, from the runway! Trains run at 5-10 minute intervals to Bank, making it very convenient for Canary Wharf. Passengers for the West End might want to change at Canning Town onto the Jubilee Line, which offers a rather faster service through to Waterloo, Westminster and Bond Street.

Smooth would be the keyword, and that's a pretty cool thing for an...airport! Since the moment I arrived by DLR and the moment I was in front of my gate, I'd say there was 12min. Self check-in, self baggage-drop, huge security area...LCY airport is something out of the future, where queuing is just a bad souvenir from the past. To be honest, it's what I'd expect all airports to be in 2016...that's it, a new standard is set!

So my first time using this business airport, despite having spent most of my life in this city. To be honest, one of the smoothest arrivals I've had at the airport. Checking in was done online and I had no bags, so it was straight past check-in and on to security. It being a small airport with not too many flights, there wasn't much of a queue, but seemingly a surprising amount of people still not either a) emptying their pockets or b) taking laptops/toiletries out of their bags. The metal detector was having a field day and bags and stuff needed to be constantly checked and sent back through the metal detector. There were a few grumbles by people because of the need to wait for their items, but it's your own fault! Departures was busy as everyone waits there, gates are only given when boarding. I wish I'd spent a little longer before grabbing breakfast as I would have found the Cafe Nero instead of going to Espressamente (Expensive! see my review). As it is, a quick walk to the gate, a walk across the tarmac to your plane and you are away. If you plan on using the overhead locker, get there early as planes never have enough space for everyone to have space for a large carry-on.

From a view of a frequent flyer: The positive: - Short distances - Short queues, even in rush hour The negative: - No lounge - Packed with London City bankers - Very limited seating while you wait for your gate to be confirmed - Gate confirmed late so they keep you in the shopping area - Pretty poor Duty Free offering So: good if you dare to arrive at the airport "just in time" or if you want to fly into London. Otherwise I prefer Heathrow (only because of my perks like FastTrack and Lounge Access though - otherwise LCY would be the better option)

This was such a nice change from all of the big airports I had just flown to (CLT, DTW, AMS, TXL all in less than a week). Flew in from Tegel on BA and it took all of 15 minutes to be off the plane, through customs, and with my bag. As everyone else has said, the convenience of the DLR is wonderful. It takes a good 15 minutes less to central London via the DLR than the train from any of the other city airports. I'd fly in or out of LCY again in a heartbeat.

City airport is quick and easy to get to (especially if you're east), has no hidden extra, ridiculous train fare (it's £1.50 on the tube zone 2). It has a couple of the coffee chains to give you a caffeine hit plus a couple of restaurants when you get through security. In fact, the whole floor is like one big business cafeteria with some duty free and a big screen playing some sort of news channel. There's pret, Costas etc. If you don't check in on line or pre print your ticket, there is a load of booths to print it out there. Most people flying seem to be business so I haven't had too much problem with slow security stopping crowds that forget about liquids/laptops/etiquette. Lots of power points and charge stations everywhere. Very much caters to the working, fly in and out professional.

Not too bad! I love the size and the convenience of this airport, especially to the ExCel. Though I made the mistake of walking from the ExCel to the airport...not recommended when you don't have a rolling bag. ANYWAY, check-in is pretty easy, especially if you pre-checked in. Put your own bag on the scale, scan your pass (can be on your phone!), put the bag ticket on, and place on the conveyor belt. Easy. My biggest complaint is the lack of signage. Most airports have signs everywhere, but not this one. And you don't know your gate until it's boarding. For someone who likes plans, that sucks. And as someone else mentioned, keep an eye on the board around the time you are supposed to begin boarding. Your flight line will turn green and will have the gate listed. Some flights have multiple flight numbers, and they will alternate on the screen, so keep watching! If you are flying CityJet, just be mindful that it seems even though you are "allowed" two carry-on bags, if you take a bag on the larger acceptable size, the will probably make you check it...and pick up at the carousel. Just a warning! The DLR connection is great!
