Best Advent Calendars for Food and Drink Lovers | Eater London

"The graphic-supplies shop partnered on a 12 Days of Creativity advent calendar that blends mixology and visual art — each door contains an item related to cocktail-making or art, and a QR code unlocks video tutorials led by house mixologist Franck Dedieu to guide users through using the contents during the Dec 25–Jan 5 creative period." - Shekha Vyas

The sort of shop I wish I lived next door too, or better still, inside it! Amazing display of everything and anything to do with art and graphic design - books, paper, pencils, paints, brushes and so much variety and choice. Sigh. A must visit for anyone even vaguely interested in doing their own art or even if you just want to own a delicious pad of paper that might, one day, be your book or memoirs or travel diary or whatever you imagination decides.

Matthew (who served me on the till ) showed me a selection of mounting boards, he measured and discussed the print and gave his thoughts on sizing. He also pointed me towards another store across the road for cheaper, older frames. I managed to get everything I needed and finished the project the same evening . The shop has a good range of art supplies and services, including instant digital photo printing.

It’s one of my favs places in London yo buy stationary, there’s a lot of variety :). It’s a bit expensive (but all this kind of stores are). And if you are struggling with English there’s also an Spanish worker that will help you :)

Google
Nice shop, well laid out for arts and crafts items. They also have an interesting selection of backpacks and bags that's have been recycled from the side coverings of hgv lorries. So that was unexpected. Seemed to have anything you could ask for, staff were helpful for pointing you in the right direction. Was busy so space was tight, manageable though

I used the virtual printing service and would not recommend. After being quoted £49 for coloured printing on 50 odd A4 card pages double sided I was charged £105 in store. Its £5 per 15 mins of time they take up and add in charges for trimming and folding - something I didn't request. And even when folding they ruined the paper. After complaining I still had to pay £95 for 50 pages of A4 terribly folded paper. Just go in person or use an online service as they are not transparent about pricing in emails.

Google
The place has an outstanding collection of stationary. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are just right. I would highly recommend visiting the place.

Google
I felt this to be a really great art store. Two floors of selections. I was looking for a sketch book and found a brand only sold in the UK. Very high quality. And wonderful selection of writing instruments.

Google
Placed an order for some plastic boxes with lids. Was supposed to receive message ahead of time saying they have been dispatched. IThen got a message the following day with a delivery window. Packages arrived (5 hours outside window! Not LEE'S fault). Opened package and found damaged items. So took pics and emailed LGC, got no reply. Today I phoned, waited on phone to be told (recorded message) use email, then they hung up!! I will try again tomorrow, if no response I will initiate a " chargeback".

Yelp
Everything you need for art, writing, ink, paper, stationery supplies. Located in Covent Garden near the Underground stations & other retail shops. Service was quick, helpful & very friendly. Great value

Yelp
You already know I'm a big fan of stationery's. This place is good, it's not that big but you'll find everything you need in here. Ya saben que soy una gran fan de las librerías. Este lugar es muy bueno, no es tan grande pero vas a encontrar lo que necesites aquí.

Yelp
nicely laid out, large selection, convenient location near museums etc, great papers, watercolor markers, very portable, upstairs for more supplies. checkout desk is helpful and fast

Yelp
The London Graphic Centre people are so helpful! Not only do they stock a huge range of supplies, both graphic and fine art, including studio equipment, but they will help you look for anything and everything on the two floors. They always have what I need in and the prices are very reasonable too, often there are good sales on even the most essential items. Last time I visited I needed a ridiculously large piece of foam board, so I called before hand to enquire about sizes/price etc and when I actually bought it one of the staff boys carried it all the way up the road in the wind for me whilst I hailed a cab. That's what I call service! If you can manage to carry your stuff home on the tube it's in a great location, just round the corner from Covent Garden station.

Yelp
Fantastic selection of art supplies, both in the shop and online. Great delivery too!

Yelp
I hadn't especially planned to visit this shop, but I was drawn in by the entrance. It's grand, and leads in to an impressive wooden staircase. Without anything in mind to buy I just wandered. Besides all the basics in lavish amounts, they also seemed to do a good few things that were new to me. Like gels in special textures, and unusual craft kits. I like using some of my little local shops. But undoubtedly if there's some art material you are having trouble finding, or you want something really unusual for a craft-related present, then this is the place to go. It's all beautifully laid out too. And the staff seemed nice.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the best art shops out there. Since it is located centrally, right next to Covent Garden, it is very easy to make a stop off here when in the area. I especially enjoy coming here before Christmas and stocking up on some gifts. This shop sells all of the usual art utensils, pens, pencils, paper, glitter, paint, sequins, etc. But it also sells a lot of photography items, some classy, leather portfolio folders, a selection of Freitag bags, and many little gadgets or specialist/amateur art utensils. Perfect for students, professionals or amateurs alike.

Yelp
I went to London Graphic Centre at the weekend for the first time and I was really impressed. It's huge and has pretty much anything you're going to need plus, the staff are really helpful and good at their jobs. I called up to see if they had this fairly unusual paper stock and not only did they have it, it was £10 less than what I usually pay for it and they gave me a sample folder so I could check out the other papers they stocked. This might sound weird, and I am a bit of a paper pervert... but the amount of art shops that won't open a box of paper / have a sample book even though your about to spend £50 on it, is quite alarming. Thumbs up London Graphic Centre, you saved my bacon on Saturday and I will be coming here again.

Yelp
If you're ever in a graphic supplies emergency, the London Graphic Centre has it all. Based just south of the Seven Dials near Convent Garden, the Graphic Centre's two pristine floors has most stationary equipment and art accessories graphic designers and artists alike to prevail. The stock downstairs is mainly stationary (paper, pens, knifes, paints, mounting boards... etc), with a little section for portfolio's ranging for expensive tailor made albums, to cheep plastic folders to carry your work to and fro. Upstairs contains designer books, specialist wrapping paper, and a few more bits and bobs to make any creative's mouth water. The service is excellent here, and often extremely helpfully... these people really do know their stuff! Although the prices of things can be quite variable, if you haven't already, you should really put the London Graphic Centre first on your list of supply stores.

Yelp
I used to frequent this place when I was a design student in need of decent materials and bits and bobs. I remember when I needed to buy hard foam to carve out of, and this was the place which sold it. It's an artists/ designers haven, and you will find everything you need here. Not only do they stock the usual paints, brushes, paper and art accessories, but they sell a large range of graphic supplies and studio equipment. If you have a student card you can enjoy a nice little discount which is a bonus.

Rachel J.

Yelp
My 12 year old daughter was looking for a specific Probrush marker. Not only did they have it in stock, they had everything else she used in stock plus so much more. She was literally a kid in a candy store. It's seriously been the best art supply shop in London.

Yelp
This store has a phenomenal stock of things, smack dab (well, just off) Covent Garden. This is basically a playground for the supply-obsessed. Walk in, and it smells like...new supplies...papers, and markers, and inks and pens. Conjures up memories of back-to-school shopping from middle school. WIN. It is massive. It is well-stocked. The staff are super-helpful. There's lotsa personality in the space, from the sketches done in the entryway to the many art-and-design publications they sell at the till. The prices are extremely competitive. And: convenient location. In sum: if I have art supply needs, this is the go-to. Yelp note: students - look out! They have discounts!
google avatar

Leon C.

Yelp
London Graphics Centre is a Mecca for all your art supplies. I am not going to run through a list of what they have, because they really do stock just about everything you may need as an artist or designer. If you want to get a lot of stuff in one sweep this store is a good choice. My one criticism is that they are more expensive than the competition. (Atlantis) The best time to visit the LGC is when they have a sale. You can pick up some great quality products at a smarter price. If you need supplies and you cannot wait for a sale, head to Atlantis.

Yelp
Tucked away in a corner of Covent garden, only design students and creative professionals know of this heaven. Its a warehouse kinda looking store selling art materials and stationery. I bought my beautiful portfolio from them. With a 10% generous student discount you get a whole wide range of materials. Though the paper section is not that varied. But for painting and drawing ask and you shall receive. Friendly service who are mostly art students themselves.

Yelp
This is a great art shop, and they have loads of stuff that seems to be in a permanent sale, which is always a bonus! They have lots of different brands of painting stuff, and as long as you can manage to get them home, are the best place I have found so far in London to get canvases! Its also a great place to get presents for people, they have loads of crafty things that are fun and silly bits as well. If you like art then its definately worth a visit!

Yelp
I think that London Graphic Centre has been brilliiant at helping artrepublic Soho by giving up wall space to hang the winning entry entitled 'Lost'. The competition which supports the UK charity Streetsmart was won by Brighton artist Grant DeJonge. A limited edition of the print is currently available to buy and ALL proceeds go to Streetsmart. If you have time to go and see the 7x3 image take a look - it's at the back of London Graphic Centre, you can't miss it!

Yelp
This is one of my favourite places and a very handy resource for those into arts and craft. With two floors it's quite a large space and they've got a good range of products from beginner to expert, so you should be able to find what you're looking for here and be tempted by a new medium. The staff are quite knowledgeable and are happy to help you with any queries.

Steve F.

Yelp
Abysmal online service! Not only do they sell items they don't have in stock but they don't deliver on time either!

Sarah S.

Yelp
At London Graphic Centre you are spoiled for choice. The flagship store is in the heart of Covent Garden and is overwhelmingly large. The warehouse style design means that you've got elbowroom while you choose the perfect sable brush or new palette knife and the staff is always readily available when you need assistance. As art store go, London Graphic Centre is the leading retailer for the widest selection of art supplies. They truly have anything and everything you could ever want but the price is not always as exciting. While they are only mildly pricier per item, overall the price discrepancy makes a difference.

Hannah B.

Yelp
London Graphic Centre has such a huge, varied and impressive range of pens, paints, paper and pretty much everything to suit all artistic needs. The shop is well spaced out clearly presented and makes finding what you are looking for a quick and easy task. The prices are good, particularly during "student seasons" when the items of necessity are put on sale. The location is perfect, unlike most art shops which are rather hidden away and difficult to find.

Yelp
This is always my favourite Art Shop in London, i can generally find all the oil painting equipment that i need right here. Prices are generally pretty good, and there seems to be a never-ending sale on the things i buy! My canvases are normally under a tenner each and smaller Art Shops that i have tried in this area of London tend to me more expensive with less options. The location, slap bang in Covent Garden, makes it a very convenient stop off for any art or stationary lovers around the Holborn / Covent Garden area. When i have the urge to do some Oil Paintings i can pop in here on the way home. The staff are also fairly friendly and helpful, mostly students i would assume. My only gripe is that the heating seems to be kranked up a tad in here, and i find it a little stuffy in there sometimes.

Yelp
You can't fault London Graphics, a great array of art and stationery supplies. I've also found the staff knowledgeable and very helpful, even suggesting other items that are better value for money. I could spend ages here and spend too much money on things I don't really need!

Yelp
Nice shop, well organised and good use of space. Can't comment on staff because they have never approached me. Tills are always manned which is nice. Cool shop with pretty much every stationery piece you can think of, but get your wallets ready, because it is pretty pricey in there.

Yelp
Fantastic place1 They have all kinds of stuff- from your usual stationery to some more unusual and never seen before. If you are having a hard time finding something for a project this is definitely the place you should look into. But even if you don't know what exactly you are looking for the staff are very friendly people, that are always ready to help you out and give you an advice or their own personal opinion on your project. Although this place is a bit on the pricey side and I still prefer my local tiny shop, I still come back here for some stuff or just to get opinion from the staff.

Yelp
I'm looking for Crayons The staff at the London Graphic Centre are very very helpful. They are artists themselves and will recommend a product because they really do believe in it. Things may be slightly more expensive than the Atlantis Gallery (E1) but it is far more central.

Rebecca N.

Yelp
This store is not as large as I imagined... I love art supplies shops, I could spend my day trying some new art supplies, That's why I was a little disappointed with this shop especially since I heard it was the biggest art shop in London. It's just the size of a regular art supplies shop in Paris and the prices are extremely high... twice to three times the prices for the exact same things I buy in Paris...

Jan M.

Yelp
Unprofessional, Rude, Arrogant... and lady who think they are only the best one on the market in UK. Absolutely no practical knowledge about some items and especially COPIC MARKERS saying: New line of Copic Markers is better in terms of quality from Sketch Line and thats why LGC don't stock them. ??? Come on!!! They are a bit different with nibs but ink is the same and you do the same thing with it. I would love to see some work of this lady from LGC with Copic and than carry on this conversation. So far for me this shop is the WORST in London as well as has stupid Prices for items which had been discontinued. A little bit more respect I would say to people, You never know who we are young lady!!!! :((((((((((

P C S.

Yelp
I love the place. As an artist who draws illustrations and comics it is great for products, pens, markers and pads. The staff was young and friendly and helped me find the right products. London Graphic Centre I think is very good on price and stock.
