London Restaurant Recommendations for the Weekend | Eater London

"A marinated flatbread (sangak) stall with ritualised, queue-driven baking: long-fermented dough is stretched and blistered in a wood-fired oven, emerging as hot, cratered carpets best eaten immediately with hummus or as an accompaniment to market-day shopping." - James Hansen

We enjoyed tasting the Persian Sangaki bread in Leeland Rd, West Ealing, on our recent Black Histories Walk in West Ealing! Freshly out of the oven and cut into pieces, the bread was most welcome and truly enjoyed by us all. 🚶🏼‍♂️ 🚶‍♀️ I remembered writing about this lovely ethnic bakery for the Contactus_ealing magazine founded by Carlene Bender a good few years ago. So nice to see the then new business do well! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ The walks I organise as Talking and Exploring are mostly of lesser known areas of London and they are about togetherness and exploring these areas, not just about their history, but about the people and small businesses there to make them better known and to hear their story. I usually make arrangements for some local or ethnic treats on the way. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ Although this time it was not possible for me to arrange for a treat in tune with the walk topic, the London Sangaki added a wonderful proverbial dot over the i to our tour. If you try this Persian bread, you will want to eat it again!

Super impressed by the quality of their Sangak! It’s nicely cut into smaller pieces and reasonably priced. Absolutely recommended. I’d suggest calling at least an hour in advance and letting them know how many you’d like, so they can have it ready.

Nice bread. It’s a bit chewy overall, with some parts thinner and crunchier. The oven seems pretty unique. The price is fine for what you get. Very good with some mezze

still can’t believe it — in the heart of Ealing, you can find freshly baked sangak bread just like back home. One bite, and I’m transported to quiet Iranian mornings, sitting at my grandmother’s table. This isn’t just bread — it’s comfort, memory, and love wrapped in a warm, sesame-covered slice. Even far from Iran, this sangak fills the air with nostalgia and the heart with peace. It’s a little piece of home, right here in London.

Today it was the first time to try the bread and I loved it! So tasty especially when you dip it and have it with Jam, Honey! Will definitely from now on come back and purchase more really healthy bread.

An absolute Godsend - in this time it is so hard to find value for money to this extent, so to receive such quality for the pricing felt very special. I ended up walking back just joyfully eating sangaki by the slice.

A very unique treasure of place, old schooled traditional persian bakery with bread booked on a rotating oven, must try for anyone.

Very nice fresh bread! They make the breads in an oven on top of the pebbles right in front of you. It’s incredibly delicious! I live 90min away and travel every month to London Sangaki to get few of these bread! 😋
