21 Essential Breweries in Houston

"Passionate and family-owned, this Magnolia brewery uses raw whole cone hops in its brews and renewable energy to power its operations, which put out plenty of must-have limited-release brews, including its Tornado Shark, an American strong ale, which clocks in at a whopping 8.1 percent ABV. Can’t make it to the brewery? Lone Pint’s fan-favorites or “core” year-round beers, including its Yellow Rose IPA, Jabberwocky Pale Ale, and the Gentleman’s Relish Brown Ale, are easy to find at most beer retailers and grocery stores." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain

A cool outdoor beer garden right in downtown Magnolia. They’ve always got some fun limited-release beers on tap, but start with their Yellow Rose, a fantastic SMaSH (single malt and single hop) IPA.

Great variety and the drink menu options are constantly changing! The brewery is inside, but it’s only an outside bar with lots of shade and seating options. They offer jukebox bingo here on Fridays and Sundays, which is always lots of fun. If you win, you get a free drink ticket. There is also always one food truck here, and each time it varies as to the different food options. I would highly recommend this place!

Google
I’ve been here several times in the past 2 weeks. Their beer is fantastic and you can’t beat the atmosphere. I come here to work on my computer and the WiFi is great. I was able to sit at the farthest table out and still had a strong WiFi signal. The best part are the beer prices. $5 craft 16oz draft beer 😱. 2-4 is happy hour $1 off drafts so even more affordable 😱 then, yeah there is more, in Tuesdays ALL-DAY $3 drafts like what!!😱

Have been coming here since I was a kid when they were just operating out of the back of their brewery and have many, many great memories here. Family friendly and dog friendly, the perfect outdoor escape, even in this Texas heat. I’ve watched Lone Pint pop up in bars and breweries across the state & surrounding and I think it’s the easiest thing to be proud of our little town for. I can’t wait to see how they grow into their new location & will be following them wherever they go! Little Rose is my go-to and we also love the rotating ciders they carry from City Orchards! I always have $5 for a beer (;

Google
Yellow Rose is my absolute fav. We are over for bingo night 2-3 times a month. Today we are at Yard House, a huge tap house, all the way in San Antonio Riverwalk and Yellow Rose is 1st on this menu. O’de to the beer craftsman.

Beer is always great. We love Magnolia Texas. Meet place to take the dogs grab a cold craft beer one of my favorites that I keep p in my fridge. The food truck next door has good food too. Had al pastor and hubby had pork quesadillas.

Google
Have loved this brew from afar. Finally had the opportunity to visit on the way through town (well, kind of....perhaps drove a few miles out of the way, but well worth it!). 1. The brews are fantastic and unique. I'm a huge hopped quaff critic. LONE PINT meets the standard and stands in my TOP 2 TX breweries! 2. Lovely town and location. (One recommendation: use the website to direct patrons to the Methodist Church parking... had to call and confirm where I could park) 3. Food truck on site provides solid choice to accompany your bev of choice. 4. Set up as an American Beer Garden - what's not to love! They bring in live music and Jukebox Bingo. So worth the visit..and for New England IPA lovers, hit the Yellow Rose SMASH IPA (smash = single malt single hop)...they hit this one out of the park!

Google
My wife and I love stopping by here when the weather provides the opportunity. Great outdoor spot and great beer too! Kid and dog friendly. If you haven't checked out this spot you should give it a try.

Google
Cool location, chill and spacious. The tasting area is comprised of a bar to serve your beer (and wine), a few tables under shelter, many picnic tables, and a stage for a musician or two. When we visited, there was a pizza food truck and vendor tents on the perimeter. . The beer selection was good. We really enjoyed the gin barrel aged beer, and I liked the brown on nitro. Delicious! . It was chilly this day, with the wind having free access to our seats. We cut our visit short for that reason, but we'll be back!

Yelp
Great space in Magnolia to grab some of the best IPAs (and beer, generally) in the greater north Houston area. While most of the seating is outside, there is plenty of seating in the shade. It's family friendly and there's plenty of space for kids to have fun while the adults enjoy adult beverages (there's wine as well as beer). We'll be back.

Yelp
This place is UNBELIEVABLE !!!! The beer is SUPER TASTY and the vibe there is one of a kind. A small brewery I've been dying to try for several years and this past week I finally went there and though they just opened up the bartender was super friendly and shared many things with me about the history of the brewery and the individual beers. I love the new release "Little Rose" as well as the other new releases. I look forward to going back on a weekend when there's live music or bingo which I believe it's on Fridays & Sundays. She also recommended a FANTASTIC GEM for me to EAT on my lunch break called BLUE IGUANA which was AMAZING & inexpensive. What a great day of good brew and amazing Mexican food.

Yelp
The service was immediately great. Friendly staff! We showed up when they were doing Jukebox Bingo. Cool idea and concept. Food truck was yummy too! Southern Vacation - BBQ style food. Not sure if the food trucks rotate or same one all the time but either way it was very good. We got pulled pork Mac and cheese. I got a flight of beer and my husband got a pint of Mein Schatz. Closest thing they had to a blonde beer. I enjoyed my flight of beer. Loving the atmosphere and outdoor seating area. We would definitely come back if in the area again and bring our pups!
google avatar

Kaileigh H.

Yelp
I really liked this little spot outside. It was nice to enjoy a beer surrounded by trees. Lots of options. Service was great.
google avatar

Yelp
A great vibe and some of the very best beer around. Parking can be a little confusing but it seems the giant church lot next door is fine except for Sunday mornings. Friendly employees, added shade, and rotating food trucks make for a fine Texas afternoon. The drive to Magnolia is also really pretty from any direction.

Ben R.

Yelp
Nice place to grab a locally crafted beer. Plenty of outside seating. There are no servers so you have to place orders with the bartenders. There is typically a food truck available. They often have live music on the weekends. What holds us back from visiting more often is their selection of beers. We enjoy lagers and pilsners and these beers are not something Lone Pint focuses on.

Yelp
Fun outdoor local vibe. You can bring your furry friend!! Expensive food truck on site, but the food was good.
google avatar

Deya Z.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick beer & phone call on my home from Houston. Love the big patio! We've had Yellow Rose at a few places so to get it at the brewery was amazing. Parking is probably a pain on the weekends since like 90% of the lot is set aside for Chicken Express.

Yelp
Cool outdoor spot with a live music stage, plenty of picnic tables, heaters for colder days, a food truck on site, and solid pours. Nice to check this spot out for the first time!
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I made the drive up from Houston to Lone Pint Brewery for our favorite beer the Yellow Rose. We wanted to check this place out and try more beers we may not have available in Houston. I loved this place, and will definitely be back. The staff was super helpful on beer selection and they had live music that was great and interactive with the crowd. We were the first ones there which was nice. Perfect for day where you want to be outdoors as this is all outdoor seating so keep that in mind if the weather sucks. We will definitely be back once it's not so freezing cold outside. Highly recommend it if you are in town or passing through!
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Small, but people are super nice. We met the brewer at Bernhardt Winery and he gave us a card to come by. We are glad we did. Good selection to choose from, a food truck, and live music.

Yelp
I have been dying to get to LP for quite a while and finally made it happen. Fantastic beer, of course the flagship Yellow Rose is phenomenal, but everything else is as well! Had 4 beers and loved each one. They have a cozy little indoor space, tucked into a shipping container that is really fun, and a huge outdoor area that is superb on a nice day. Definitely a fantastic spot! Really awesome staff and well priced! Drink local!
google avatar

Kasy S.

Yelp
I finally made the journey to check out the brewery that makes my favorite IPA in the state. Yellow Rose SMASH is worth the drive. The brewery has a small-town old-school feel that I really enjoyed. The tap room is in a shipping container beside the brewery. There are a few small pub tables within the open-sided shipping container, but the majority of the seating here is a number of large picnic tables in an open yard. The day we were there, there was a DJ playing jukebox bingo. I didn't join in but looked like a blast. I also got to enjoy a Gentleman's Relish on nitro and it was an excellent cool-weather beer. Finally, there was a food service there selling smoked ribs. I suspect they have a revolving door of local food providers. The service was very friendly and the beers are very favorably priced. I will be stopping by this brewery again when I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I enjoyed the music the guy playing played some 90's music. The outside space was ok. It's a small place. They didn't have food when we went brocade the food truck was closed. Service was ok.

Kyle B.

Yelp
This place is fun to hang out, have a local microbrew, and listen to music. They are pet friendly since its outdoors, and they have a water station for dogs.
google avatar

Debi B.

Yelp
This brewery makes one of our favorite beers and we were excited to visit. The beer was excellent and reasonably priced. This is a large, dog friendly, outside patio area with some shade and lots of tables. May have just been an off day, but the server was pretty rude. When we asked if they had flights, she responded with "what do you want?" We weren't even sure what was available. She was less than friendly and in no way helpful. As I said, the beer was good and we'll give it another try another day.
google avatar

Rodney B.

Yelp
We're right down the road from this place. We've been there a few times. They don't really sell much in the way of food, but they had a bunch of food trucks lined up in the driveway & yard, along with some people with booths & canopies set up one weekend last year. They had all kinds of food, along with arts & crafts. They normally have several unique brews to enjoy. Tornado Shark is one of my faves! They have bottled beer as well as fresh out of the taps. Always a fun atmosphere. Family friendly with occasional live music, board games & other events. I definitely recommend going there, especially while the weather is cool.

Yelp
My wife and I timed a great lunch date at this local brewery in the heart of Magnolia, TX. Great outdoor patio seating. Especially, if you have dogs. They have a set up just for canines. Beer was on point. And the Chicago style hot dogs were killer! The staff were pretty chill and told great stories too.

Kenneth L.

Yelp
What a great place this is! A wonderful collection of brews and crafts. Food truck of the day is always good to great. Music is always awesome and being under the trees makes even a hot day comfortable.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Chill patio area with lots of seating and an all around good vibe. Love that they had a food truck parked there the day we visited. Both beers we tried were great, especially the Yellow Rose IPA.
google avatar

Kevin E.

Yelp
Awesome out of the way brewery. Be aware that they don't have many, if at all, light options, but that is ok with me. Also, the parking is a concern. They have a lot right next door that belongs to chicken express. You can park using a chicken express receipt as a parking pass, but still a concern. The beer selection is unique and well maintained.
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
Some of the Best beer you could ever find. All of the beer is good, however the IPA's are especially top notch.
google avatar

Brie C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, hit it when they have events FOR sure, FOMO! Some nice brews, we come often, especially during the food truck events
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Lone Pint Brewery makes the best IPA in Texas.. No questions, no competition there's not a single Texas IPA that comes even close to their Yellow Rose SMASH IPA. Its been that way for years now. The brewery is very cool and essentially just open back yard. Covid is still an issue so the open air and space really go a long way to make ya feel comfortable. I highly recommend a trip out here if you are near Magnolia.

M S.

Yelp
The beer garden is amazing! This place has incredible atmosphere and energy, especially when they have live music! The staff are extremely friendly and the brews are so unique and delicious! 10/10 recommend to a beer drinking friend!
google avatar

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Fantastic beer, cool people always a good time. Love when they have live music & DJ games! Always meet cool people there. Love love love the Yellow Rose beer!
google avatar

Misty M.

Yelp
This place is a gem. The staff was great. The location is convenient if you're in the area. The atmosphere was positive. It's all outdoors and they had fires set up to keep warm. They were out of one brew but the rest were good and prices are affordable. They could use some tables games for entertainment.
google avatar

Robert V.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, staff was friendly. Beer was mediocre compared to other breweries, but drinkable. Great place to watch the sunset. I was also not pleased that all seating was outdoors, but whatever.

Yelp
We were in Conroe and I'm like hey we're not too far from Lone Pint, let's go. Around 30 miles, 40-ish minutes? It kind of wasn't that close from Conroe to Magnolia but ironically not that much closer than Houston to Magnolia! (45 miles, 60ish minutes?). I haven't been there since I found out I was celiac so I haven't had any beer in over 2 1/2 years. I had half a glass of Yellow Rose (the best beer ever) to see if maybe I could tolerate it. Not surprisingly, I couldn't. Bah. The only thing they have to drink there is beer and regular soda which I can't drink because I've also become diabetic (sucks to be me). So I can't drink anything here. At the least I wish they would pick up diet soda, that would help. Ideally I wish they'd brew some cider, or perhaps pick up some wine or maybe a hard seltzer for us non-beer drinkers. On the very cool side, they've expanded into the lot next door and turned it into a lovely beer garden with awesome shade trees, a stage, picnic tables, lights on the trees. It was around 90F when we were there but under the shade trees with a nice breeze it was quite pleasant. It is a really wonderful place to visit. Please, please give me something to drink so I have an excuse to hang around longer.

Yelp
Last night I was at Lone Pint with a friend. It's quite a drive for us but we wanted to see the band, Willow Creek Junction, play. We arrived at 6 and left just after the band finished at 10. They have lots of wooden picnic tables of all sizes to accommodate a couple hundred people and you can bring lawn chairs. They had cornhole and there were kids throwing a football and others kicking around a soccer ball. They have a bathroom trailer with separate restrooms for men and women which was clean and well stocked. Two food trucks were set up but we ate before we came. It was a beautiful night for some live music and beer. There are fully grown trees on the property to provide some shade in the hotter months. Now for the beer. We started out with a four beer flight for $8. They also have $12 flights if you choose any of the stronger barrel aged beers. Most pints were $5. The line, when there was one, always moved quickly and service was friendly. I loved Yellow Rose IPA and their "Ginger Ale" beer. The band was great and I was told there is live music often. It is the perfect venue to relax with friends and family, enjoy some great music and and have a cold one.

Yelp
My favorite brewery and beers! Perfect place to enjoy a Saturday afternoon. The day I was there they had five distinctly different IPAs, all with great flavor, proper head and hop forward. My favorites are yellow rose and 667. Yellow rose is my favorite beer - stoked it is made so close to home. The staff is very knowledgable and happy to share some knowledge. They are dedicated to their craft and it shows. No AC so cooler days here are best. Very economical tasting - $10 for pint glass (to keep), allowed to sample all and will provide three full pours. Cheers Lone Pint! A+++
google avatar

Calily B.

Yelp
The Yellow Rose is probably one of my boyfriend's favorite IPA brewed in TX right now. That's usually the only beer from Lone Pint you see around at Austin taps. On a trip to Houston a few weeks ago, we had some time so we decided to make a pit stop in Magnolia to check out Lone Pint. The sun was high, the brews were flowing, there were jams on the porch but it was a scorcher. It's a warehouse facility with no a/c so be prepared for that. For $10 you get 3 full pints. WHAT A STEAL! Normally a Yellow Rose at the bar is $6, so yeah, drink all 3. All the beers were good as suspected but I really wish they had a more sessionable beer on tap. All their beers have pretty high IBUs. We thought their British porter was on point and would love to have that on tap somewhere in Austin (that was actually their lightest beer on tap in June). While most people are never IN the area of Magnolia, it's only a slight detour off 290 and it's well worth it... just maybe wait until it cools down.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
What a fun brewery this is! They had live music out front with lots of picnic tables where people were just hanging out and having fun while sampling the beers and the food from the food truck parked nearby. We talked to one of the owners of Lone Pint who was a very tall, knowledgeable, friendly, laidback gentleman. He schooled us in ways of beer and showed us around the place. I would come back with friends!
google avatar

Jeanne D.

Yelp
Fun find on a Saturday drive. Nice people and good beer. Outdoor seating only which was perfect on a beautiful day.
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
So much fun on a Sunday. After changing the flowers on my dad's headstone we headed over to Lone Pint for stop 4 on the #FiftyTXBreweriesBy50Tour. Musical Bingo! A Theme is predetermined. The fabulously donegaled DJ plays portions of songs and the player uses provided highlighters to mark up provided Bingo cards all for a free beer. There is a food truck. Outdoor seating. Great vibe. Great people. Do it!

Denise M.

Yelp
Love the beer, the food trucks and the atmosphere - as long as it's not jukebox bingo day. Then it's way too loud to visit and the ppl that work there are a-holes when you mention that the music is driving you away.
google avatar

Tina G.

Yelp
This place was great when I first visited years back when moving to Magnolia. Now, it is even better! They have expanded the property, tucked carefully away off a main road in Old Magnolia, and there is more room with a beautiful groundscape under trees and pretty lights. Glad I stopped by to visit last night (Fri) when they opened at 4 and took advantage of their new expanded tap hours. Will be back!
google avatar

Roy Shorty J.

Yelp
Fun place usually has a food truck to go with a lot of great beers! Bring the family, fenced and kid and pet friendly
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Great beer and beautiful new beer garden. Twelve taps now and two are nitro. Live music, TVs, food trucks and lots of games available to play.
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
Been a huge fan of lone pine for past several years. Finally had some free time and was able to make the road trip from Austin to magnolia. Well worth the trip, great little outdoor space and super friendly staff. Lived up to my love of lone pine beers. Glad I went.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
Every beer they make is exemplary of it's style. Also a great chill place to have a beer and hang out. Worth the hour's drive up from Houston!

Tim S.

Yelp
Wife and I like to try the craft breweries so we made the trip to Magnolia to try Lone Pint Brewery. I really liked the outdoor seating it was a beautiful spring day but I can see where a summer day would be absolutely miserable. I thought the converted shipping container into an outdoor bar was pretty cool. When we go to these places we usually get one or two of their flights to see what we like and then get a full pour of what we like best. Lone Pint only had ales so if you are a lager fan you are not going to like this place unless they have changed. They are into big beers, mostly IPA's. I did enjoy the Yellow Rose. On "Untapped" they showed to have a lot more beers than what they had on hand. I would definitely stop by the place again if I am in the area but I wouldn't make the drive just to go here.
google avatar

Angie T.

Yelp
Just enjoyed a couple refreshing brews in beautiful Magnolia beer garden. Service with a smile. Nice to be outside among the fall foliage and watch the kids play. Live music, good BBQ from Reville BBQ. Good for family or groups.

Yelp
The Lone Pint Brewery is located just about an hour north of Houston in the beautiful Texas village of Magnolia. Although it's not the largest brewery in Texas, the fine folks here at Lone Pint are truly doing big things! We had a chance to stop by the Lone Pint Brewery on a hot Texas summer day. There isn't much better in my eyes than enjoying a nice cold Top Texas Craft Beer at the brewery with the great people who crafted it. So, that is exactly what we did! This brewery is small and personable. As we walked up, everyone greeted us with a smile, just like you would expect in a small Texas town. There are openings in both sides of the building so the breeze flows right through. The heady aroma of hops fills the air and that puts a smile on my face. There are picnic tables lined up on the patio where you can hang out with friends and family. It's the perfect place to enjoy lunch on a weekend afternoon. Although they don't serve food here, you are more than welcome to bring your own vittles. The Lone Pint Brewery is dedicated to creating distinctive local Texas ales that are tasty, hoppy and quaffable. It takes pride in the renewable energy that powers the brewery. One example of Lone Pint's dedication to the environment is that the spent grain is fed to a local dairy farmer's cows and the spent hops are composted. This small-town, American craft beer institution is undeniably producing wonderful beer here in Magnolia. I highly recommend you pay them a visit while on your tour of Top Texas Craft Beers... you will be hoppy you did!
google avatar

Arturo Y.

Yelp
A must visit - make sure you get there for the tour! Very informative - and they will answer questions after the tour. $10 will get you a tour, glass (16 oz), and 3 tokens to fill up that glass!
google avatar

Catheryn G.

Yelp
We have been to Lone Pint several times and have enjoyed their beer at several restaurants throughout the local area. Their yellow rose is by far my favorite IPA! They even have some more interesting stuff on tap if you visit the brewery. Definitely worth a visit, but they are only open Saturday which is kind of a bummer. They don't have a ton of seating, so if you get there after 2 PM bring some lawn chairs. I did hear that they are working to expand and grow their space! They usually have a food truck that comes in on Saturday as well, so it's nice to get a little snack with your beer! People also bring in their own food and have a picnic. Overall, it's a great place to visiteven though there could be a few minor improvements!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
What a great place to come out with friends or meet new ones for some highly rated beers. (#2 in Texas.) Friendly owners and operators. Definitely try the Yellow Rose and Gentlemen's Relish to start. Most of the time, there is food and sometimes live music.
google avatar

Valerie B.

Yelp
We stopped here on a Saturday while visiting family in the area. I am NOT a beer drinker---just don't like it...if I'm really thirsty I might sneak a sip from my husband's. I was more interested in the food truck--pulled pork and brisket--Yum, but the people at the brewery were so friendly (and they give tours of their facility) and recommended a beer for me to try. Okay, I'll try it (ugh). I can always pass it off to my hubby. Well I was pleasantly surprised---I actually enjoyed it. I even went back to copy down the name---Po-Cha-Na-Quar-Hip (Braggott)----like what? Yeah that's what it's called! Also enjoyed the live music...there's a stage and tables out front.

C M.

Yelp
Great brewery. Nice outdoor space with picnic tables under a pretty tree with lights. Dog friendly. Tasting flights. Pizza food truck. Friday night trivia at 6pm with a DJ playing good music, what more could you ask for, I recommend.
