There's something interesting I've noticed about this particular location. The breading is slightly sweeter and definitely fresher than other locations I've been to. This is my absolute go to spot for Kolaches. I even stop in here before going on vacation to bring some rampage kolaches for friends in visiting. Service is quick, iced coffee is affordable and the restaurant is clean. Can't say enough good things!

Google
Had egg cheese and bean kolache which was really good and a potato Taco which was not my favorite. I wish they offered hot sauce or salsa. The coffee is really good. I am coming back for coffee and sweets next time. Staff is very kind and efficient.

Google
Had plans to buy kolaches and go get coffee elsewhere but they make some AWESOME coffee! We had the polish sausage and cheese and the sausage cheese and jalapeño, and both were excellent. The bread is pillow soft and not chewy. And the LATTE was amazing! Highly recommend this place if you want to stop by for a great coffee and breakfast. Seating is limited but perfectly enough, and Wi-Fi is good! Overall, huge props to this little gem.

Google
Best kolaches in town, hands down. Savory kolaches are where its at here. You MUST try the Ham + Swiss, its the single best kolache in all of Austin.

Rich Brilli

Google
Oh man, I absolutely love this place! New to the neighborhood from Denver (where the kolache's are half the size and three times the price)… At Lonestar, you can get three or maybe even four amazing kolache's for $10 or less (crazy!!). And the lady working behind the counter is always so nice and friendly. It's become a staple of my mornings. Tons of options, and the dough and ingredients are delicious. Get on in here!

Google
Companies like this need to go out of business. Pickup order and guy goes need your phone verification. Not even sure I understand what that means. I go to my car to get my phone with the orders go back in line wait and watch 2 white people get this pickup orders without” needing verification “. Nice job with the racial profiling

Google
meh. i just come for a jalapeno popper kolache. they had a sausage jalapeno and cheese kolache. more like a weiner dog, jalapeno and cheese popper. it was ok.

Google
Fantastic selection of savory and sweet kolache. The sweet run out, but not as fast as a lot of other spots. Very nice employees! The egg cheese and sausage patty kolache is the ultimate weekend breakfast. It’s hearty, real eggs, creamy cheese. I send photos to my northerners of these. So good. Sorry the photo is blurry. But, even blurry it looks good. Want to say thank you to them for being open on Jan 1. :)

Yelp
Cannot say enough good things about Lone Star Kolaches!! They're always so friendly, as someone who isn't a morning person I appreciate them getting my days going just right. An Austin staple with a cute little indoor dining area. They also serve tacos and coffee drinks! +be sure to bring cash for tipping as they don't allow tips on card payments.

Jennie M.

Yelp
Stopped in and got the Ranchero This was my first time but won't be the last! There are so many more things I want to try on the menu

Lauren S.

Yelp
The amount of filling they can get in such a thin pastry was nothing short of a Sunday morning miracle. Only two tables, so probably best to get your food to go. I left curious about a lot of menu items and am sure to be a regular.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Liked it. Not loved it. But I would go back! They have a great assortment from sweet kolache to savory. I did not like the texture of the ones with the scrambled eggs inside. But Great place to get an assortment to take to work or the team if you are running late, and if it gets cold just heat in the microwave for 30 seconds each. There is something for every body Price for portion worth it. They also cater events and meetings Top 3 favorite kolaches were Spinach and cheese Philly cheese steak And the sweet peach was also very good served warm

Wayne N.

Yelp
It's a kolache shop with a wall of dough filled pockets of goodness. They got variety galore of savory and sweet kolaches, so there's surely something for everyone. Personally, I lean on the savory end of the spectrum, so I'm all down for the sausage, egg and cheese kolache, or the omelet one if you're vegetarian and digging a portable breakfast favorite. The sausage ones as some others have mentioned are just alright. It's cheap, quick and will get your kolache fix. Stop on by for a great breakfast!

Sid B.

Yelp
Called a week in advance to arrange our big order because a big group of us were visiting austin and really wanted to try these. They told us to just make the order the day we want on door dash. And then when we made order and they canceled it cuz they said they're not prepared to handle an order of our size. We called them and tried find an alternative solution and they just hung up on us. Everyone was talking about it all week and so excited to try it, and we all are leaving austin now without trying Kolaches.

Tabetha G.

Yelp
Mediocre breakfast food served up with a side of attitude and grimaces from employees.

Lourdes S.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Lone Star Kolaches. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese kolache. It was delicious and tasted like it was freshly made. Although it was light on the bacon I would return.

Elise L A.

Yelp
My mom and I both got horrible food poisoning from the kolaches here purchased 6/9/23. Vomiting non stop for two days, worst food poisoning I've ever had, almost both had to go to the ER.

Juni G.

Yelp
You looking for vegetarian kolachees? Thats how i found this place. And i LOVE all of them.

Ralph T.

Yelp
The reviews on here seem pretty harsh in my opinion, but maybe I have just been lucky? This place is pretty close to my house so I've made several stops here on a saturday morning when that kolache craving hits. I've always had a good experience. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. When it comes to kolaches I like them all. Fruit, meat, cream cheese, egg... I like them all! Lone Star Kolaches has not let me down once on any of these. I personally like the sausage, egg, and cheese the best but also love any of the fruit kolaches with cream cheese. I love that they have so many options to choose from. I'll continue to stop here for my weekend kolache cravings!

Aiden R.

Yelp
Perfectly charming little place, parking is a bit annoying but I would walk for miles on foot to get to this place if I had to. The kolaches are perfectly warm, and the insides are filled with perfectly seasoned meats and cheese (in my case). I'd order coffee from the kitchen instead of the one sitting by the soda machine next time though, as it was cold and bitter. My friend got a coffee off the menu and it was great.

Cinthia K.

Yelp
Came here to pick up a few kolaches for the road when the bf and I were in town a few weekends ago. Kolaches are not that common in NYC, where I come from, so I figured I'd load up on a few varieties to bring back home with me. There's lots of varieties of kolaches to pick from, and they range in price from $1.20 to a little over $3.00, depending on the filling. There's a slight discount if you decide to get a dozen, but only if you get a dozen of the same variety. I managed to try their potato egg & cheese, cheese & jalapeno, spinach & cheese, egg & cheese, cream cheese, and chocolate cream cheese over the course of the following week (they kept quite well in the fridge and tasted fine once heated up in the microwave, but you'd probably want to eat them fresher than that, lol). I was a fan of their potato egg & cheese and their cheese & jalapeno kolaches in particular. Would definitely come back to one of their locations if I happened to find myself in Austin again.

Valeria V.

Yelp
Just got a potato bacon and cheese and let me tell you the sweetness of the bread with the bacon and cheese was so good. The man was so nice and warmth our kolaches up before we received them. If you're hungry for something comforting that will definitely remind you of home please come here. Best experience ever!!

Joy W.

Yelp
Lone star Kolaches is lone on the totem pole. The dough is so soft and the options are plentiful. They also have coffee and tacos if you're looking for a change up. It continues to be the best Kolaches in town. Go get your gluten on!

Stephanie A.

Yelp
I so wanted to like this place as I love kolaches. Customer service was amazing, the nice woman at the counter answered my questions and was welcoming. The establishment was clean and had comfortable seating along with multiple selections of kolaches which looked so inviting - they have both sweet and savory ones. They even have breakfast tacos and specialty coffees that smelled amazing. Unfortunately their kolaches just were not that good. I ordered the Sausage, Cheese & Jalapeno - the sausage tasted a bit old, the cheese dried up, and that poor pitiful shriveled up slice of one jalapeno just was not an appetizing filling. This was surrounded by a semi hard dough that was thick and just not that good. and the Jalapeño Popper w/Bacon - again, the dough to filling ratio was disappointing, too much dough.. The filling was mostly a scoop of cream cheese with a hint of bacon and I really did not get any jalapeno taste out of it. The whole kolache again tasted a bit old. As far as kolaches go, this place did not impress me much. Customer Service was good so I give it a 3 stars instead of a 2 star review.

Lydia N.

Yelp
Service is a little gruff, they always seem tired or distracted. Kolache prices aren't listed on the board, but on a smaller take-out menu; prices range from $1-3, with the polish sausages being at the upper end. I usually drop by on Sunday mornings around 9/9:30 and it seems to be hit or miss in terms of crowds. Usually it's pretty quick though and I can get a doughy bite warmed and out the door in a couple minutes. The kolaches themselves are alright. The dough is soft and noticeably sweet, without being overwhelming. It goes well with both the sweet and savory kolaches. The sweet ones seem to be filled with canned pie fillings (so, sweet and goopy) but the savory ones are pretty good decent. Altogether Lone Star is a good stop for a quick filling snack.

Dana R.

Yelp
The kolaches were great!! It was, concededly, my first taste anywhere. But I tried three (two savory, one sweet), and each was bomb.com. There are breakfast-y kinds, savory kinds, meat and non meat kinds. There are sweet kinds, and it looks like they sell out of many kinds by closing (like any place that makes fresh goods from scratch daily). The staff seemed bored with me, but totally competent.

Thomas G.

Yelp
The people working here were super nice but unfortunately the kolache I had was very mediocre. The roll part was alright but the sausage was that sweet cheap tasting vienna sausage-esque product. The cinnamon twist was a little bit better but not anything to write home about. I'd try to find a different kolache shop if I were you.

Alejandra I.

Yelp
My favorite kolaches hands down. My favorite one is the chorizo and egg!!!! So good and fulfilling Lonestar Kolaches

Jason C.

Yelp
Stopped in after striking out at another kolache shop (it was closed unexpectedly). My hot dog kolache was not good. Poppy seed was much better and when heated up was an...interesting alternative to a donut or other pastry. I can't say it blew me away.

Brenda D.

Yelp
This is thee place to go with their delicious kolaches. The bread. The warmth. You will not regret going to this quaint spot to get your kolache on. 10/10

Tx N.

Yelp
ZERO stars! I ordered via Grubhub this morning. I had just returned from a stressful night at work and felt I deserved a treat. Half an hour later, probably when it was time for my driver to pick up the order, the restaurant cancelled. Just like that. Not a word of explanation, let alone apology. They probably decided I lived too far away for delivery. CAN'T YOU FIGURE THIS OUT BEFORE YOU ADVERTISE ON GRUBHUB???? Pathetic! On the other hand, we all make mistakes. No major problem there. But is it too much to ask for a " Sorry, we missed up there!" ?

Susan E.

Yelp
We stopped by around 10:15 on a Sunday morning for a couple of "chubby" kolaches (bacon, egg, potato, cheese stuffing). At less than $3, these were a bargain. We also had a couple of cafe au laits. There's a very wide variety of kolaches available, from savory to sweet, and breakfast tacos are also available. There are many different coffee selections, from espresso to capuccino (which was misspelled on the board when we visited). There are 4 small tables at this location, plus a few easy chairs. Not much atmosphere to speak of. The hot and fresh kolaches were well-stuffed, but would have been much tastier with a bit of seasoning. The coffees were fine, even without sugar. We'd try this place again, but would likely make it a carry-out order. We were fortunate there was no waiting to place our order. By 10:30, the line was 6 deep.

Olivia M.

Yelp
Pretty standard kolaches and breakfast tacos. The jalapeño kolaches and potato and egg taco I ordered didn't impress, and neither did the service. The building sits on a bit of an awkward angle for parking, which makes it hard to successfully complete a quick, on-the-go breakfast mission; especially without a drive-thru. Also, don't go in looking for donuts-- it's kolaches [and a few other pastries] only, people! ;)

Niki K.

Yelp
Don't know why this place has such bad reviews! I personally think it's some of the best kolaches I've had. My favorite is the Chubby. What I like most about this place is that they really stuff the kolaches. One kolache will fill you up but you'll want to eat a second anyway.

Daniel H.

Yelp
First time eating Kolaches, which I was told I had to try. This place was close to my job site so I popped in for a breakfast. Pros; TONS of options for these little bread balls of joy! I can see why they are popular. However I was told to get them warm and the lady behind the counter "warmed them up" for me. I ate at the shop and all except one were still cold through and through. I can attest biting into a polish sausage (one of the options) and having be cold and grisly is NOT the business.

Dana S.

Yelp
I don't know why this place has any bad reviews. I came in expecting an average kolache but what I ordered was far better than that! The kolache bread was delicious! They have tons of options, there's something for everybody! I'm definitely coming here again!

Shawn S.

Yelp
Typically I love Lonestar Kolaches, at least the one in Pflugerville anyway. This one is lackluster at best. This is the third time I've been to this location and the second time they have been out of the Polish and cheese, which arguably is the best kolache. I opted for sausage and cheese and totally referred it. The sausage tastes weak AF, the bread is hard and tastes like it's 3 days old. Extremely disappointed with this location. Won't be going back for a fourth time.

John B.

Yelp
What a find. I have passed by this shop many times, but never have stopped until today. I am glad I did. They have a good selections of kolaches, friendly and helpful staff. The kolaches were good, I had two that were filled with sausage and stuff - and they were filled. Often times, kolaches can be mostly bread and a little meat - not here. Reasonably priced. I will be back!

Quan T.

Yelp
So when you order a kolache you get half a kolache and half a clump of dough. This was the popper kolache.

Ruth S.

Yelp
Ok, so this place is now one of my favorite places to eat for breakfast. The kolaches are soooooo good and they're not even super expensive like everything else in the world these days. The lady behind the counter is kind of "to the point" like, pick, pay, eat, bye~ hahaha but shes not mean (at least I dont think she is lol). The shop is small and actually, I've never noticed it before until I was across the street sipping on some tea and looked across thinking about what I wanted to eat. I'm glad i went, i was so happy about my choice c: and now, I'll be going back very often ^^

Amberly S.

Yelp
Worse kolache place EVER! I ordered a few variety of kolaches and they all tasted dry and the dough isn't fully cooked. On top of that, it tasted cold inside. Dang, did they leave the back door opened for these to get really cold. I would definitely not recommend this place. Its soo bad, your better off buying a frozen kolaches from the grocery store. On top of it again, the hispanic cashier didn't even want to be there and had a gtfo look at everyone entering the store.

Joshua V.

Yelp
I really like this place the food is always so good. If I have 1 complaint is that sometimes they don't have what I want because they sold out but that's what I get for coming late. Oh well I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some good kolache's.

Jamie Michelle H.

Yelp
First time in today, as we were on our way home from the rental car place. It looked super cute from the outside and it's very clean and tidy on the inside but that's where the niceties stop...first and foremost, the lady at the counter was really rude and looked miserable. She acted put out and annoyed that we were there. I'm in the service industry so hospitality (especially in the south) is a deal breaker in my mind. It's not that hard to just smile and give a damn. Secondly, the Kolaches were mediocre at best. The bread was really sweet and mushy, and the fillings were bland. Definitely not coming back here.

J P.

Yelp
Best Kolaches in all of Austin. The polish ones are my favorite. Be sure to get there early!

Shereen E.

Yelp
I don't know what it going on with the lady at the front, but she is always pissed off. I'm in here now for the second time and I love this place, but that lady is terrible. She rolled her eyes when my mom and I asked to order another kolache, and looks so angry at the customers. If you are unhappy with your work place, just don't work there. It really ruins the atmosphere to have such a pissed off women at the front taking our orders.

John C.

Yelp
Great stuff here. I come in just about every weekend to get my fill of kolaches. They have all types, my fave is pan sausage. Well this weekend my mom is in town visiting. And I brought her over to Lone Star. She what she thought. She actually liked it. And that's no easy task! So great job guys! Good food. Nice people

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Pretty tasty kolaches, though I came relatively late in the day (1pm) and so they didn't taste super fresh. I've had tastier at other places in Austin. That being said, they have by far the best variety of kolaches that I've seen in town. They have a few dozen different kinds of kolaches with a huge variety of ingredients, which I always like!!

Jan M.

Yelp
Stopped by, craving a really good Sausage & Cheese Kolache. I'd have to say theirs is 2 out of 5. Part of my wish I would've just gone to Shipley down the street. Also got their Strawberry & Cream Cheese Kolache, & I quickly decided that was a waste of calories. Super sweet & not very food texture. Won't be coming back..

Wes O.

Yelp
Who doesn't like kolaches? This place has every flavor you could imagine from a variety of fruit-filled ones (my favorite) to ones filled with meat. The location is convenient and the staff is friendly and gets orders filled correctly. Not really much to complain about here.

DaLila G.

Yelp
Fruit kolaches are good. The meat ones kind of taste old. Parking it terrible especially in the morning.

Wes D.

Yelp
I got an apricot and a poppyseed kolache, two sausage jalapeño and cheese klobasnik, one hot polish sausage and cheese, and one polish sausage and sauerkraut. None of it was very good. The pastry dough was dry, the poppyseed was overly sweet, the sausages were unimpressive. It was all pretty disappointing.

PJ W.

Yelp
Maybe I'm spoiled because my first kolache experience was in West, TX at the Czech Stop, but these kolaches were poor. Nothing like the pastry I've had before (I agree with the other complaints about being sought). The egg and sausage filling was awful. Didn't even finish eating one. It's too bad, because we walk the dogs within 10 yards of this place each day, so we'd be regulars if they were edible. Even being that close, we've never gone back. Guess my wallet should be happy.

Shawn D.

Yelp
Everything is consistently undercooked and doughy. That's a problem at every single Lone Star location. Just make sure you pick something that appears to be fully cooked and it's decent.

Allison A.

Yelp
This place has great meat and fruit kolaches. They make everything fresh and they have a ton of different kolaches to choose from. They also have this type of kolache called a "chubby"--which is a kolache that is stuffed with a variety of ingredients. The "ranchero chubby" was my fav, because it had egg, bacon, potato and jalapeno, all stuffed into one!

Casey F.

Yelp
I have been coming here for the past year, and I love the food. Best sausage kolache in the area: the bread has flavor, hint of sweetness, the piece of sausage is a good size. Not a lil smoky drowning in bread. The fruit kolaches taste too artificial for me, but I can't resist the cream cheese ones. Today was the first time I tried the coffee, and it was terrible. It tastes/smells like it's made with bad water. And it's weak! I do not drink strong coffee, always adding water to starbucks or coffee at the office. The associate smelled it and said that's how the coffee normally is. I'm only writing this review for the small chance that they read this and change something.

Jacques C.

Yelp
Yea I had been going here for a couple moths until I went one morning and a group of roaches ran out of the display case when they moved the pan. So I will NOT be going back. Go to the Kolache shoppe on burnet they're 3x better anyways

A H.

Yelp
The problem with this is that I live right down the street and can walk to this shop... This is a problem because the kolaches are so freaking delicious. I never even used to like kolaches. Each one is only about $1 maybe a little more. The bread they use is so tasty with just a hint of sweetness much like a Hawaiian roll. Since discovering it, I usually stop by and grab breakfast here at least once a week. But I've only tried the fruit kolaches, sausage and cheese, and cinnamon twists. All wonderful. I'd definitely recommend!

Jen S.

Yelp
we were off on an early morning road trip on new years day. and this place was open. stars just for that! when you are desperate anything will do. their kolaches were ok. i would skip the breakfast tacos and just order more kolaches in the future.
