A nice place to stop in for wine and appetizers. Mildly upscale with indoor and outdoor seating. Family friendly with a diverse selection of local and guest wines. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were upscale. Parking can be tough. Another stop for wine if you're downtown.

We had the best @Global women Empire speed networking event! Lonestar was the best host! Great wine great snacks. Dian really made our Babes feel special! If you need a space for your business meetup checkout Lonestar Winery they will treat you like family!

Lone Star Winery is quaint and perfectly situated in the McKinney Square. The venue has plenty of seating indoors, outdoors and unique spaces for larger parties. My favorite is sipping wine while enjoying live music even on a Saturday afternoon. So, after you’ve completed shopping at all the boutique stores in the square end the evening at this cute spot! Let’s see if they incentivize me to return for a full review of their wine selections! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Great atmosphere! Loved the wine flight! You’re sure to find your new favorite wine 🍷

Love Lone Star Winery! Diann and Elizabeth are wonderful! The great customer service and vibe stem from the owners, Ron and Deanna Ross and their daughter Becky and her husband Jon Dunphy. Amazing wines and great family atmosphere! You have to check them out in the downtown McKinney Square.

Google
I have never visited downtown McKinney before visiting Lone Star Wine. The place is cozy and a part of a collection of different shops. They have a pretty good selection of wines that includes Texas wines as well as California wines. Our server was awesome. We ordered the garlic parmesan and Aunt Karen's Bordelaise Wings. Both were delicious. We also got the margarita flatbread and I thought that was good as well. Definitely a good place to visit if you are in the mood for wine.

Yelp
Stopped at Lone Star Winery for a wine tasting while at the Square. Try their Texas Wine tasting and some Reds. Good sampling. Enjoy the variety. Ordered chicken wings and Margarita pizza for the group. The wings were delicious. Lots of flavors. Service was amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Great experience.

Yelp
The atmosphere is very friendly, also good for date night . Service was fast. We ordered the cheese board and margarita flatbread , my son liked it. They also have music at certain time and date. The sweet white wine was just right for me , it was not super sweet . I would definitely come back

Yelp
Allyson and Jenna did a wonderful job and made some terrific recommendations. Big Red was my favorite and a certain must try.

Yelp
The sweet red Lakota Rising was pretty good for those who like moscato or sangria! Ambiance is a great place to relax and people watch if the weather is good for outside. Service was not that great, I think they forgot about us so we didn't get water or our orders in for about 40 minutes. I believe there was a miscommunication between the waitresses so no worries!

Yelp
Lone Star Winery is exceptional. I've only been once but can't wait to go back. I went for their Thanksgiving pairing and the experience was memorable. The setup was beautiful, the Thanksgiving food was amazing and the wine was even better! You can tell their staff is very passionate about what they do and they do such a good job at educating their costumers on wine. It was such a wonderful experience to pair the right wine with the right food and see how it just elevates the taste of both the wine and the food. Prices are very reasonable and they have a great membership program! My only suggestion is to hold the wine pairings in a bigger room, we were a little cramped in there.

Yelp
Update...just as good as ever. Cute and quaint. Love this place, everyone is friendly and food and drinks are great.

Yelp
I visited in a Wednesday during Fall Wine Trail. The staff was friendly and attentive. We tried the Bordelaise chicken wings and they were amazing. The wine choices in our flight were great. I'd definitely come back again. We sat on the patio. Perfect evening

Yelp
I came here Wednesday evening with a couple of friends and had such a great time! I don't recall the lady's name who initially waited on our table, but her & Elizabeth were so much fun and personable. They were very helpful with recommendations and just great service overall. The establishment has a very nice & quaint ambience. The other patrons were pleasant and it just made for a great experience. I opted for the "Trust Us" Wine Tasting Flights & received a customized selection of wines. I think this is great because you can really hone in on what you like or don't like in a wine. The recommendations were good. I also paired it with a slice of cheesecake drizzled I'm caramel. It was absolutely delicious ! I learned from staff & patrons :) about the entertainment that comes here. I'm really excited my friend recommended this. I definitely recommend & would return for the experience.

Yelp
Lovely, intimate place for a date with the wife. Dee cheerfully helped find us the perfect wine. Thank you Dee, you're a sweet heart. And try the bacon wrapped dates. Pure bliss on your tongue!

Yelp
This is a very nice tasting room tucked into a small group of shops in downtown McKinney. The wine was excellent! Last week we stopped in for a wine tasting and I had the Grey Ghost flight which gets you a taste of two of their whites and two reds. I liked them all, even their Chardonnay which I am not typically a big fan of. The Grey Ghost gets you a taste of the Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sangiovese and the Montepulciano. I thought the Montepulciano was the best of the group, but enjoyed them all. The surroundings are super nice and the staff top notch. Go enjoy some good wines and the atmosphere here.

Yelp
After hearing back from Becky we were eager to come back and see how things were on our next visit because you don't always receive feedback from a review. Attended a Wine and Popcorn pairing event (I know, who knew?!?!) and had a great time. Becky and Liz told us about the wines, the ranch and the winery and we enjoyed learning about the family history. It was fun exploring how wine and popcorn can enhance each other's taste! And I loved the fact they they tested them all in advance to provide us with a great experience. The family atmosphere was wonderful!

Yelp
Met our fabulous friends, Bryan & Rick, who invited us to hear some great live music and wine! The wonderful staff walked us through our white wine choices, and no one judged my trashy ice filling of my glass. What can I say, you can't take me anywhere. Seating was limited, but everyone got cozy and made it work. We even made some new friends who bar hopped with us!
google avatar

Consius N.

Yelp
Disappointed that they mostly represent wines drom California. Not so much the lonestar state. stars because the venue was very inviting. Easy cosy environment with great views. The wine was not the worst though would have wanted more body to it. The biggest boldest cavernet Sauv they had fell short and so did the service. The flight of wine was brought to us with no explanation of the wine like a proper tasting should be. Next we saw the waiter was for the check. If you like hanging solo uninterrupted with sweeter light bodied wines then this is the place for you.

Yelp
I booked a cheese & wine tasting for a date night with my husband & we absolutely had the best time! This is a family owned winery & the hospitality shown during our event was top notch. Our host Bianca did such a fabulous job setting up a beautiful table for the tasting - I tried to take as many photos as I could before wanting to dig into the feast. All together there were 5 pairings with generous pours and unique cheeses. She did an incredible job educating about the pairings without making the evening seem like a lecture but we still walked away feeling like we've learned something new. It's a delicate balance and she guided the group with such passion and care. I've been to quite a few tasting events & this one definitely is right to the top of my favorites. The atmosphere of the room was perfectly cozy - I didn't feel like it was a stuff as many people in as you fit kind of place - gave more of the visiting friend's you've known forever kind of vibe. The event flowed well, wasn't rushed at all, the host was open to all questions and opinions on the pairings. Definitely highly recommend for all date nights, friendly outings, girls night, and all things in between!

Yelp
Fun local spot. Decent wines. Really nice people. A great choice for a fun time in downtown McKinney.

Yelp
We stopped in midday on a Saturday and had a great experience. My husband and I both got wine flights. They had a fun quiz you take and they'll recommend wines for the flight. Both of ours felt spot on and we enjoyed each one. We also ordered the Baked Cheesy Pesto Bread and it was excellent! The service was a little slow, but we didn't mind too much. We would recommend this spot as a fun date!

Yelp
This wine bar has easy access, a patio area, high and low tables and bar seating. The majority of their offerings are sourced from other wineries both inside and outside of Texas. The wines we tried were okay, but nothing to write home about. They suggested a place for us to score a burger to go from around the corner and bring it back to have our wine with. The biggest impression I had was the vibe of the place. We aren't locals and just didn't have the same experience it looked like the regulars had. The place went from nearly empty to over 3/4 full from 4:00-4:45 on a Sunday afternoon. *if you like my reviews or find them helpful, leave me a like or a comment please

Yelp
I went to this place last night for the first time. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and willing to let me taste a few wines before settling on a full glass. I met a couple of regulars at the bar who were also friendly. They had a guy singing and playing his guitar. I thought he was very good entertainment. Overall I enjoyed the ambiance of this place. My negative comment is that the wine by the glass seemed excessively priced in my opinion. One I had was $19.50 and another was just a little less. Overall decent wine but I didn't think it had the quality that I would expect for that price.

Yelp
Reasonable wine tasting. Ok wine nice atmosphere friendly staff Wine was on the light side

Yelp
Always feel at home here... staff always welcoming... remember you! Love it here for a quiet glass or bottle Whatever suits you at the moment!

Yelp
We have been members of Lonestar for a few years now and what a wonderful place - to be a member or even pass on through! Recently I was hosting a college reunion and brought 17 of my girlfriends in for a Wine Tasting with Hope. What a rockstar!! She had our private room set up beautifully, was there to greet each guest personally and kept a wild group on track and having a wonderful time. Hope is so gracious and makes the wine tasting experience both fun and educational. She does not lecture or ramble on, but gives great information that enhances the experience. One of my guests is in the industry and I myself have been to many tastings all over Texas, California, Arizona and France. All I can say is that this is a great hidden gem in McKinney. And the tasting was greatly enhanced by the food options that Hope suggested. If you are looking for a great group event, this is your venue! Lonestar has great entertainment on a regular basis as well as the best special events throughout the year. If you haven't been here yet - or in a while - you're missing out!

Yelp
We ended up here due to the winery across the street treating my friends and I horribly. This place was so accommodating to seat my 5 friends and our waitress was very very nice. Service was fast, vibes were chill, and the pesto cheese bread was TO DIE FOR.

Yelp
This evening I had the wonderful opportunity to try a couple of the new menu items. I am a consummate wing lover and Lone Star's new "family recipe" wings are absolutely delicious! Just the right amount of crispness and flavor! I also tried the new pork sliders. Just wow! They come with a beautiful and delicious olive on top and filled with mouthwatering pulled pork and just the right amount of cole slaw. Wu wu wuht?! Mmm mmm. Must try the new menu!!

Yelp
I stopped in this past weekend while visiting from Ohio. This place was wonderful! Great ambience...very welcoming. My nieces who are only preteen were with me and my sister in law. They quietly went and sat by the front door so we could do a tasting. The sweet winery worker took them over a bowl of snack mix and was so kind. I thoroughly enjoyed the different samples and loved hearing the history of the ranch wines. Took home a delicious bottle of "Drinkin Buddy" and a cool shirt. Will def stop by again if I ever am back in town

Krista L.

Yelp
Super cute wine shop. Lots of different kinds of wine. All of us (5 people with very different tastes) found something to enjoy. The food is very tasty- cheese board was a lovely light pairing. They also sell cigars but, you have to smoke them outside.

Yelp
My husband & I love this little gem in downtown McKinney. The wine bar is on the historic square and is surrounded by fun shopping & restaurants. It's the perfect place to have a drink. The wine is Texan & is made here . we are the membership list where we receive 2 bottles of wine every other month. The star of the show is the bartender Ruby, she's hilarious & always greets you as friends. I'd highly recommend this wine bar!
google avatar

Oly S.

Yelp
I love this place. Love RUBY!!. I happen to cone across it accidentally. Love that they have WiFi, you can work and have a glass of wine
google avatar

Toni M.

Yelp
Beautiful low key intimate setting for my son and sweet future daughter in love's surprise (to her!!) engagement party!
google avatar

Jenn K.

Yelp
The server told me the definition of an Estate Wine was "just not as good as a reserve". When I asked where the estate was she said their winery was somewhere but they don't actually grow grapes there. I asked where they do grow their grapes and she says they don't grow any of their own. Why they're calling anything an "Estate Wine" if they don't grow anything is amazing, apparently ATTB laws mean nothing to them. Aside from the misrepresentation of their wine, it's just ok. I try to buy a bottle at every place I go, but walked away empty handed on this one.

Yelp
Lone Star wine is a family owned winery located on the square in downtown McKinney. The winery creates some great wine and I always look forward my next wine shipment. The staff are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable.
google avatar

Christopher Y.

Yelp
Like drinking wine and live near downtown McKinney, TX? Stop by Lone Star Wine Cellars and try the "Big Red". The place is small, but they just added a extra room to sit, enjoy wine and talk with your friends. Live music is frequent, though I never notice the schedule. :) The staff is friendly and will help you through some tastings if you looking to try some Triple R Ranch winery productions.
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
Lone Star is a little place right on the square (in the Ritz Theatre building) that serves and sells wines made here in North Central Texas. It's nice but really small, almost cramped. It's actually a joint venture between Wales Manor and Triple R Ranch and those are the wines that they have in stock to sell by the bottle. I especially recommend the Wales Manor Meritage for a nice fruity red wine. It's sweet without overdoing it. They also have some fruit wines (like blueberry) that would make an excellent dessert wine.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
This winery located just off the square in McKinney offers what could be a very quiet place in which to sample wines or just have a glass... I went there on a Thursday evening with some friends and did the "3 estate-1 reserve" flight.. I simply asked to be served whichever ones were recommended... That being said I tried 2 whites and 2 reds...the first white was the one I wound up buying a bottle of ..."The Grey Ghost"... a 2012 Pinot... The tasting room sits adjoining a lounge area where they had a singer...the music was ok , but in such a small area, it would have been better if an instrument had not been used..in that it got to be a bit loud,,, The service was a little slow but excellent....
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, comfortable place to hang out and have a little wine. The Gewurtztraminer is refreshing and tasty on a hot summer day. The immortal Zin is also very good red.
google avatar

Darlene L.

Yelp
Love Their wines. Tonight we are drinking Reserve Big Red Cab
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
If you came for food this is definitely not the place to go. They are not a restaurant they are a wine bar. As such they have some amazing wines. And the live music is usually very very good. My only complaint is you can tell who the regulars are because they're the ones that actually gets served well if you're new or not a regular you're going to wait a while. If you are new to wine tasting this is not the place to ask questions as my experience has been the wait staff is no more knowledgeable about wine than I am.
google avatar

EJ V.

Yelp
I want to begin by saying that my husband and I have truly enjoyed coming to your establishment. We love the ambiance and of course the wine. We even bring friends that visit from out of town so they can experience the wonders of McKinney. On Saturday December 14, we attended the parade of lights and we sat in front of your establishment. My friends visiting from the UK asked where was the best pub and we told them no pub but a great wine bar right behind us. They went inside Lone Star and purchased wine for the 4 of us. The parade had not started yet. Then this lady in a red coat came screaming at us in front of all the other families there, saying that we were going to get you (the owner) in trouble because we were drinking outside the premises. We understand that she was protecting you and your business from any penalties/fines. We were not aware that what we were doing would cause any problems. We assumed it was a similar case as OctoberFest where everyone can have their drink out in the open on the streets. We believe and understand that her intention was to protect you, however there had to be another way to go about it. She embarrassed and humiliated us! There were other people in the same place we were with their wine that they also purchased from your business and they were not reprimanded or humiliated, she never said anything to them even after walking right by them twice. Customer service should be a priority when you own a business and after what happened on Saturday it's sad to see that this person should go through the customer service training again. She did not have to come out with her confrontational demeanor the way she did. Our friends from out of town were mortified and the worse was that my children witnessed how she talked down to us and they were very upset and sad. We wish your business the best and we hope this serves as a way to make sure your staff is trained properly on how to treat customers.
google avatar

Ken H.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere and a wide selection of great wines. Drop in for a casual relaxing environment and most nights the entertainment is very good. Sweet wines are our favorites but they also have some very nice Merlot and Cabernet's.
google avatar

Tina P.

Yelp
Friendly staff and customers. A great place to go have a glass of wine And relax.
google avatar

Curtis D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink prior to dinner. Ended up spending over an hour here. The outside looks like nothing special, but the inside is beautifully decorated and has a great environment. Will definitely make this a place to stop by again when in town.
google avatar

Teresa B.

Yelp
Lovely place, fabulous staff, beautiful gathering room, great wines! Absolutely wonderful hours spent here today with family and friends and the staff all blended right in!! Such a lovely experience in downtown McKinney!!
google avatar

Shelley H.

Yelp
We ordered wine and apps. Apps came out very small portions. So don't bring a big group and expect to ever have enough food to sustain drinking a bottle of wine. Service was lacking. Pours between glasses took more time than most people are willing to wait. Between feeling like we are hungry and not even provided water or wine, would not recommend. The best wines are from CA, not TX. Service is just horrible.
google avatar

Kata M.

Yelp
Such a great place!!!! Staff is amazing, very polite, friendly and nice! And while you are sipping great wine, snacking on fantastic cheese, you can also listen to amazing music! We were there when Nelson Miller was singing some James Taylor and Neil Diamond songs! He was great! Such a great singer! Can't wait to be back to the Lone Star Wine Cellars!

Fiona G.

Yelp
We moved from UK to Texas a year ago and were finding it hard to meet people and make friends. Then we found this little wine bar and joined the wine club. Best thing we ever did. Staff and customers are super friendly, a great selection of wines and regular social events. Great little outside patio to enjoy on a sunny day. L

Jason P.

Yelp
Cute place, poor service. Went in there twice, sat in there fifteen minutes watched them serve everyone but myself and my date. Pretty embarrassing. Will not be back nor suggesting it to anyone. We left and went to Landon Winery down the street instead it was excellent!

Karla Y.

Yelp
Best little Cheers bar in historic downtown McKinney. Friendly staff, knowledgeable on their wines, great menu, live music. Easy to see why so many are obviously regulars! They also have a wine club well worth joining! Great Texas Wines!

The T.

Yelp
Love this spot! They have awesome wines and great tasting tapas to as well. The artichoke dip was soooo good! Getting the flight is a great way to sample the selection of wines they have. Then enjoy yourself even more with a glass of your favorite. My party and I did!

Mary B.

Yelp
What a SUPER cute place on the McKinney square! I happened upon this place on my last visit and was very impressed by the varietals !! Also, if you're even the slightest bit hungry, the artichoke dip is unreal... !!!!

Donald S.

Yelp
Great wine and even greater people! The Triple R wines are unique to Collin County and a gift that is "uniquely McKinney." The atmosphere of the Square makes the Lone Star experience even more special. When in McKinney, Lone Star Wine Cellars is worth a visit.
