New Grand Canyon East Rim Lodge Partners with Navajo Guides - AFAR

"Inside the lodge's Lonely JackRabbit Restaurant, I experienced a menu curated by food and beverage director Landon Neff that draws on local Indigenous traditions, with dishes such as fried cactus breakfast burritos, Navajo taco salads built on Navajo fry bread topped with pinto beans, lettuce, cheddar, green chiles, tomatoes and onions (with a choice of protein), and blue corn cakes paired with fried chicken." - Matt Kirouac

If you’re driving through Marble Canyon, this restaurant is an absolute must-stop. The variety of food options is impressive from hearty burgers and Southwest dishes to lighter salads and sandwiches, there’s something for everyone. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. What really sets this place apart are the epic views. Sitting outside with the cliffs and the Colorado River nearby feels unreal. it’s the perfect spot to take a break, enjoy good food, and soak in the scenery. Friendly service, great portions, and unforgettable surroundings. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is conveniently placed after our hike to Cathedral Wash. We all had their smash burgers and they were delicious! I loved the decor and the restaurant was very clean. Make sure to get the onion rings and parmesan fries. Yummy!

I will stop at this restaurant every time I drive through: it's that delicious! I had the Thor burger and Parmesan fries... I have honestly never had better. The staff is so pleasant and made me feel so comfy and it felt like home. I didn't gush often, but this place seriously deserves it. If you are ever in the area, you won't be disappointed. Generous helpings, clean, great restrooms, and a fun gift shop.

We were driving down from the North Rim and ran into this hidden Jewel! The Hot Chocolate and the Thor Burgers were awesome!! Food was fresh, portions were very generous, great service and atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Google
I loved this place, being the only restaurant around, they could not care about service and give shitty food and you're stuck with it, but NO, THEY ARE GREAT! Delicious burrito 🌯 for breakfast and Wanda was just a great company fpr breakfast, thanks for treating us like friends at such an early time for a great start of our day! Lonely JackRabbit rules Marble Canyon! 😊

Google
They now that there is not to much choice for eating so the plates are quite small (not American standard 🙃). My burrito was really good one but standard breakfast was a joke. 1 fry egg, some cut potatoes and a slice of bread. Cost 15$. There is no coffee ☕️ for breakfast. You have to pay extra- so I didn’t feel like in America 🤷‍♀️.

Absolutely delicious! This place is such a gem. The food is delicious. With its location, we weren’t sure what to expect, and were just relieved to find a place with food. The garlic butter with the parmesan garlic fries is super garlicky (exactly how we like it), the burger was perfectly seasoned, they had a surprisingly diverse drink menu, and they even had gluten free buns for my mom. The shop also has cute stuff and the overall vibe is both chill and nice. Will absolutely come back when we’re in the area next!

We stop here every year and stay at Marble Canyon Lodge and eat a pleasant breakfast at the Lonely JackRabbit. They recently remodeled, so if you haven’t been in a while, you will be pleasantly greeted by updated decor and a very nice atmosphere. The food was excellent. We had blue corn pancakes with blueberry and with chocolate chips as well as a delicious breakfast sandwich. It's not just the food but the entire vibe. Definitely worth stopping by when you are in the area. Did I mention the artwork? A very pleasant atmosphere with a great vibe.

Yelp
We've driven by Marble Canyon Lodge several times in our annual visits to Page, and decided to stop in for lunch. So glad we did! The Lonely Jackrabbit is the restaurant inside the lodge. Service was quick, and the food was REALLY good. Get the green chili!!! If you ask, they'll give you a piece of fry bread to dip into it. We shared a great sandwich and had cups of the chili and walked out super stuffed and happy.

Yelp
Delicious strong coffee, a giant cookie and friendly service. What more can you ask for! There's plenty of seating, a clean restaurant, and of coarse other food options

Yelp
Great food in a beautiful location! The Lonely Jackrabbit is an easy vibe eatery. My steak was cooked to perfection!!! Food is pricey but worth it and let's be honest there isn't many places to eat in the area. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful roadside stopping place. Clean and modern. Good menu, good food, good service. I had Green Chili Stew with the house salad and a side of Indian Fry Bread. For dessert a Blue Corn Cookie and a decaf Cortado coffee drink. Nice art work and adjacent store has plenty of items for sale including gifts and accessories for your travels, hikes and water sports. After your meal be sure to take a walk across the Navajo Bridge. See the very start of the Grand Canyon from 400 feet up.

Yelp
Best spot to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner on Highway 89A. Quinoa Kale Chicken salad was really good. Kids loved the grilled cheese sandwich and fresh fruit. Beautiful redesign and decor makes for a cool and comfortable place to recharge from the road. Make sure to grab a blue corn cookie and refill your water bottles at the fill station!

Yelp
Food is good. Nice variety. However the waitstaff are over extended when large groups come in and the wait for dinner was over 30 min. The dining counter staff seemed quite disinterested in their work. The adjoining Lodge was recently updated and perfect place to rest after hiking and site seeing! An unexpected bonus was enjoying Monday Night Football outside on big screen TV's with the canyon in the backdrop and cold beers and hot brats to munch on !

Yelp
Friendly staff, lots of good choices on the menu, good food and great views. Plus they have cappuccinos!

Yelp

Yelp
Came here for lunch after hiking Cathedral Wash. The have an excellent appetizer, cactus fries, that I highly recommend. Such a unique dish. For mains, my dining companion and I shared a Navajo salad and salmon. The salad came on fry bread and had beans, chicken, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream. It was ok...I thought the fry bread would be crispier. The salmon dish was very dry, and the accompanying broccoli was somewhat burnt. The quinoa was cooked well though. Service is friendly; it is counter service.

Yelp
This is a great place to stop if you are driving through and looking for a bite to eat. We kept it simple and got some chicken tenders here with low expectations. They were hot and crispy and delicious. It's a little pricey but well worth it considering it is one of the only options in the area and they actually have good food. I would stop by here again and maybe even stay at the hotel connected to it. Great service very fast and friendly! Cozy chill lounge atmosphere with a walk up counter. For what felt like the middle of nowhere, this place really stood out.

Yelp
This place is wonderfully clean and welcoming. It all looks brand new. We stopped for lunch and had good food and service at a very reasonable price.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and had a nice salad and grilled cheese sandwich. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The fry bread salad was an interesting treat but I'm hard pressed to call it a salad. My hubs had the green chili grilled cheese and enjoyed it. Overall for the middle of nowhere this did the trick. And it's beautiful here!

Yelp
Good food. Great service. Loved the blue corn pancake stack. Gift shop has unique things and I liked the money jackrabbit theme.

Yelp
I ate here back in march and it's now June and whenever I hear about a grilled cheese in a conversation or when ordering food the first thought that comes to mind is how delicious the ultimate grilled cheese was from the lonely jackrabbit. I loved everything about the sandwich and would change nothing I would 100% order it again. I also had the cactus fries for the first time they were to die for the prickly pear sauce was an amazing touch made them ten times better even know they were perfect. I wish I lived closer I would eat here every day.

Yelp
The service was great. Such a clean feel to the place. Cactus fries and green chili stew was yummy.

Yelp
Chicken Bliss $16 The chicken had no flavor, and missing parmesan, Romano. The mixed greens consisted of very little of the arugula. I found 2 very small rings of the pickled red onions on my sandwich. The french fries were fine. Thor Burger $19 2 thin beef patties, no shredded lettuce, no pickle. This has changed from one 1/4 1b hand-pressed burger, why? ***Mostly missing ingredient was LOVE For an establishment that only had one other table at the time this was a shockingly poor lunch.

Scott S.

Yelp
Blue corn cookies are amazing! Fast friendly service!! Highly recommend stopping for a beverage or food.

Yelp
Food was great at lunchtime. The service was very friendly and the facilities and gift shop very modern, clean and full of lovely souvenir choices. Great find.

Yelp
What a surprise this gem was! The menu was diverse. Tasty eats all around. From the fried cactus to the salmon to the burger our crew found the bites really tasty, especially in the middle of the dessert!!

Shawn R.

Yelp
After dealing with the sticker shock, we ordered cheeseburgers, pay and tip (18% minimum on the device) in advance of course. Cheeseburger was just ok, very little fixings but ok. French fries remain a mystery, how can french fries have absolutely no flavor-none. Cardboard comes to mind. The place looked clean and new, service was minimal but ok. Someone put a lot of money into this place recently, I hope they can bring the food up to minimum standards. We have eaten here before the remodel (change in ownership?) and it was fine, this is a huge step down.

Yelp
What a great find in this very remote location. Good food, interesting menu, quick service, brand new remodel with a nice clean modern look. Espresso bar, craft beers, nice pastries. Deserves your support!

Yelp
Food - pretty good !! Service - bit slow but server was super nice and attentive Ambiance - local "home style" diner
