15 Essential Restaurants Near Downtown Knoxville

"Chef Tim Love offers a nod to Western culinary tradition with a touch of Knoxville at his Old Town restaurant Lonesome Dove. An extensive wine portfolio pairs with a predominately wood-fired menu, including wild game. A must-order is Love’s proprietary wild game fettine presenting a selection of cuts spit-roasted over mesquite." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Kellie Walton

My wife and I had made reservations for our Anniversary. The staff did an amazing job Accommodating us and helping to make it an amazing experience. They have a rotating menu with numerous options; we virtually sampled everything. The staff in the kitchen and on the floor is knowledgeable about the menu and allergy concerns. We had an amazing time and enjoyed it all. The food was prepared to an impeccable standard and perfection. 👌 Warm comfortable environment with Allergy friendly options such as Gluten Free Sensitivities. **The kitchen staff likes to have a drink every so often. 😄

For my very first visit to Knoxville I was highly encouraged to check out Lonesome Dove. I'm happy I did. I made reservations online the day before and I'd recommend getting yours early. I was deciding which day I wanted to go and the time when the available tables/times I wanted literally disappeared before my eyes. Fortunately I was flexible so I booked a late dinner. The restaurant is in a pretty hip area of town so parking was a little bit of a challenge for me. I found some free parking by the bridge but it took me a minute to find one of the last open spots. Food and service here are top notch. My server, Cody, was exceptional in his knowledge of the food, made wonderful recommendations and made sure I all my gastronomic needs were met. As for the food, Chef Tim Love masterfully blends old rustic American fare with modern cuisine to create exotic new flavors. I would highly recommend the elk loin with candied blueberries. Let your taste buds enjoy the sweet and savory flavors of this signature dish. I would say this is a can't miss restaurant if you are ever in the Knoxville area. The prices here are extremely reasonable for such fine dining that challenges your senses and taste. My multi course meal with a drink and dessert came to a little more than $80! I also ordered nearly enough for 2 ppl. So, take a detour on your next trip to downtown Knoxville and stop in for a foodie experience you won't want to miss.

This restaurant is five stars for a reason! It starts from the moment you walk in to get seated. They take your coat, seat you and you get to know your waiter/waitress, who all seem to enjoy their job. The food is what you would expect from a five star restaurant ( and the price ). Highly recommended!!!

If you look at my reviews, you see I do not offer 5 stars very often. This rating is truly worthy. Each dish was outstandingly prepared. Their flavors hit you immediately. We had lobster hushpuppies, crabcakes and elk sliders for appetizers. The elk sliders were over the top. Each of us had a sample of the appetizers. For our main course we had an over size pork chop and lobster tail, elk loin steak, roasted garlic stuffed beef tenderloin and chili relleno. The only draw back were the desserts . We had chocolate cake and churros. They were average. Our server was great. She explained the menu and offered numerous options and choices. This is definitely worth another visit.

There's some definite excellent dishes. 3rd course portions are Huge! Elk sliders, Mac and cheese, and pork chop are all would reccomend. The Carmel apple pie cheese cake was amazing too

The food here is amazing. One of my favorite restaurants in Knoxville. It’s unique and exotic. The garlic tenderloin is amazing and I really like the buffalo ribeye. The best appetizers are the sliders and crab, but they’re all great. Make sure to get the Willie which is like a smoked old fashioned. I can only give this 4 stars though because I feel like the service has gone down a bit. Seems to be more turnover lately and management seems different. When spending this much money, I feel the experience needs to be perfect.

My wife and I wanted to celebrate New Years with a nice dinner. We made the right decision the 4 course dinner was excellent. Along with a excellent Napa cab from Bell wine cellars 2014. Best dinner that we've had since moving from Jackson Hole Wyoming to Tennessee. Staff was excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant!

We mainly chose this spot for the menu items and craft cocktails. We were pleasantly surprised! Sad there were no beer fries as listed online, but our server Ashlynn was very knowledgeable on the menu items and had been with the restaurant for 5 years. She told us we would forget about them and we did. Appetizers seem in pics below: Elk sliders (BEST!) along with Hamachi tostadas, rattlesnake & rabbit sausage and lobster hush puppies. As for cocktails: The Willie and the Jalapeño Cucumber margarita were our faves. We also tried the 1888, Crystal Land and Beez On Thyme. SO much food. We made the mistake of getting too much. Corn, okra, cucumber and tomato salad was excellent and the chili was perfect. We were told 7/10 on the hot scale, but it was not that spicy. Let us not forget the fresh focaccia bread and jalapeño cornbread muffins. By the time the entrees came we were stuffed however, the beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection and could not be wasted. The rabbit enchiladas were very flavorful and the creamy jalapeño within it, gave it a good amount of heat. (Bothe entrees pictures below). With no room for dessert, we bought the kitchen shots (on the menu!) and called it a night. Very happy to have found this gem! Being an appetite and a good amount of cash.

Yelp
First let me say that I really like this restaurant and def recommend it. Starting with the ambience: very good - cool restaurant bar, good vibe here. I could see good camaraderie with the servers and kitchen and the service was outstanding. Our server was highly engaging and provided a lot of information as we chose beverages and meals. The food manager stopped by the table - nice touch. Hush puppies were tasty but the star of the appetizers were the boar ribs. The flavor was unlike anything i've had before and wife and i fought for the last rib. Her entree - filet was spot on. Sadly my lamb chops were not great. They were woefully undercooked so they quickly threw them back on the grill. They fixed that; however, the meat itself was not tender - the quality of the chop was poor. I love lamb chops and when I get them my expectations are high - not great. The Brussel sprouts were a good side. Not an inexpensive dinner, at all, so I'd either go here for a special occasion and indulge or just order less. They could chop this menu in half - great restaurant that doesn't need that many items to provide a wonderful dining experience

Yelp
Holy s**t! If you are an adventurous eater and haven't been here make a reservation as soon as humanly possible. Hubs and I were in town for the night and decided this was our spot for dinner. First, the ambiance is so warm and comfortable. Low lights, dark wood, candles, & warm leather make you feel so relaxed. Ok, onto the food. Started with the fettine. Cured game meats with pickled veggies. Perfect starter; don't be afraid to dive in and savor each individually. Next was the rabbit and rattle snake sausage as well as the elk slider. Hubs stated the rabbit & rattlesnake sausage reminded him of fried chicken and will stay on his mind for a long time. I really enjoyed the elk slider. The meat was juicy and had a perfect cook. The blueberry accompaniment gives a balance that rounds the dish out so well. I could've eaten a plate full of those. Then came the Texas red. Hubs said it was the best he's had. So flavorful with a bit of kick. For those that like spice but are also susceptible to heat, proceed with caution but definitely proceed. The crème fraiche and crunch from the tortilla strips break up the richness of the meat and keep you going back for more and more. By the time we got to the main course we were almost full but they exceeded expectations as well! If you get the opportunity to eat here and experience a meal designed by chef Tim Love, do so with an open mind and no budget. You need to come hungry, be open to trying things you may not normally and do so with reckless abandon. Mangia!

Yelp
Costco gift cards never failed me. But you may want to buy $200 to $300 worth of gift cards for one meal for 2 at this place. My friend and I curbed our hunger with some blue corn lobster hushpuppies. They didn't taste anything out of ordinary. Then came my main course roasted garlic beef tenderloin. The western plaid hash tasted superb and the beef tenderloin was cooked appropriately with the right amount of seasoning. We were sitting at the bar and my friend had been talking to the bartender about whiskey. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. You may have to walk a bit from the parking. The surrounding area is filled with bar, restaurants, and stores. Parking is quite limited in the area.

Yelp
I have to revise my 2018 review after dining here again this year. Lonesome Dove is truly delicious. Seriously, the beef tenderloin is probably the best in town and features a sauce that takes several days to make. Outstanding in every way. Same goes for the chili and everything else I ordered. I'm not sure what they did to come up with the recipe. But, it was one of the best bowls of chili that I have ever eaten. When I had it before, it wasn't on this level. So, they've clearly stepped up their game. I would definitely come here again for a special occasion. Given the high price tag, I'd prefer that it be a business meeting where someone else is paying! Seriously, I had a $250 gift card and still owed them $200 when I left. But, this time, I think the meal was very memorable and delicious. Overall: This is top tier. Expect a lot of unique meats and options. But, carry a full wallet!

Yelp
Went to Lonesome dove with a friend for thanksgiving. Nothing like being in the old city this time of year to make you feel festive. We sat upstairs with a view to outside. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. I got the turducken. It was unbelievable. Churros for dessert were also amazing.

Yelp
Parking is a bit of a hassle, no valet, and it took probably half an hour on a busy Friday night to get a rideshare lined up when leaving. Just something to keep in mind. It's a really cool old building and space, appropriately scruffy. We sat by the kitchen; while it didn't have the ambiance of the bar area, it was fun to see all the activity. Consistently great service throughout the experience. Waitstaff is excellent at helping you through a menu that's sometimes a little on the wild side (pun intended). I tried both the 1888 and the Willie cocktails. Found the 1888 to be good but a little too much with the fresh herb. The Willie, served smoky, was the better choice. Wife dug a simple dirty martini. Love that the appetizers can be served as individual portions. Allowed us to each try 4 different apps without it being an overwhelming amount of food. The chili was good, but I didn't think it was great, perhaps that's just my bias against using ground meat in chili instead of chunks. Wife had a few complaints with the butter lettuce salad - mostly that it was absolutely drenched in dressing. The huge chunks of pork belly and jalapeno were also too much for her (though I didn't mind helping with the extra). We shared the elk loin as our main. Not split by the kitchen, they make the dishes quite attractive, it's up to you to decompose them on to two separate plates. But it was a very good dish. Overall, individual servings of 4 appetizers, a salad/chili course and a shared main was surprisingly a pretty light meal. A good, fun experience, and would be on our short list on future Knoxville visits, though we might check first to see if they've gotten valet set up yet.

Yelp
Excellent experience at Lonesome Dove, largely due to the epic server, Hayes. He was masterful in his presentation and the experience was made because of him. The food was equally as impressive. Notably, the ability to mix and match the small plate starters to sample multiple items is a unique and great feature. The lobster hush puppies, the wild boar ribs and the elk sliders were a perfect introduction to the cuisine and quality ingredients. The recommended selections for the main course were the beef tenderloin and the bison ribeye and now we know why. Both were 10/10 in terms of presentation, taste and accompaniments. The smoked Gouda potato gnocchi was the icing on the cake. Great dinner. Great experience. I would hire Hayes in a second for any business I am involved in.

Yelp
I made a reservation to surprise my boyfriend for his Birthday. He has been dying to go there. When I made the reservation it was with a very polite young man. Our server was Bekah. She was nice. But I kept listening to the gentleman waiter and he would ask people if it was their first time visiting, if it was he said they would get a free glass of Champagne . Bekah just asked what we wanted to drink, no champagne . She didn't explain the dishes on the menu like the waiter did. We ordered the Fettine Trio because the waiter was explaining it to a couple at the bar while we waited to be seated. She recommended a Baby Kale Spring Mix salad and it was not like she described. The manager came to our table finally and said she would take the salads off the bill. The Oysters were very small but delicious. I ordered the Bison Ribeye. My first two bites were grisly and tuff, that pretty much ruined it for me. My boyfriend had the Elk Loin, everything on his plate was delicious, the meat was as soft as butter. We had Burnt Carrots that were delicious, Crispy Brussels sprouts were ok. And I was Very Surprised that they didn't bring him a dessert for his Birthday. It was very cold in the restaurant so our food got cold fast. The Ambiance was nothing fancy. We would not go back. My boyfriend was looking for the Quail they had on the menu before.

Yelp
I hadn't been here since 2003 when it was still Patrick Sullivan's. Major improvements! Great Food and atmosphere! A+++ Also, I think that Matt Damon tended bar here while preparing for THE RAINMAKER. It might have been an O' Charley's though.

Yelp
Key words: meat lovers, adventurous, smoky Starting off with rattlesnake sausage is the first sign that you have signed up for a dining adventure! Our server, JJ was really great at walking us through the menu, as it is one that you order all at once at the beginning. They do a great job with smoky old fashioned- and it's very theatrical when they reveal the glass under the dome of smoke. I loved the details of the symbols on the flatware, the feel of the restaurant is upscale and western. My entree of elk tenderloin was delicious, very rich and tender. Would definitely return for another special occasion.

Yelp
We had amazing service and the first and second courses were fantastic but I'll admit the bison and Waygu Ribeye steaks we had with our main entree were a bit tough and not evenly marbled. For the price, I think they can do better. Maybe look at a better supplier for their meats.

Yelp
We decided to celebrate a significant family milestone at Lonesome Dove. Two of our siblings flew in for the occasion. There are reviews on this app that make you question if they're really that bad, or is someone just trying to falsely degrade the restaurant. Restaurants have off nights. We all have struggles. But this dining experience was a train wreck. And the manner in which tonight's shortcomings were handled was unacceptable... bad enough to avoid this place permanently moving forward. I want to reiterate that we understand kitchens get backed up... chefs have off nights... front of house personnel have struggles like we all do. The restaurant industry is tough for many reasons. Over the span of about 2 hours, we went from "Sorry the kitchen's backed up" (No problem) to "Sorry your order got lost. We can try to move you to the front of the line, or if you have places to be, we understand if you'd rather leave" (we want our food... we'll wait..) to "well actually you were a little late getting here, and that threw off the schedule" (We arrived 8 minutes early for our reservation and were told to wait at their outdoor bar around the corner. They came and got us 20 minutes past our reservation time.) We could have dealt with the delays from the kitchen and even the misplacing of our order, but trying to pass the blame on to us... especially when utterly false? Did not appreciate that. After about 2 hours of being at the table (and an hour after our appetizer course), our entrees came out a few at a time. Disjointed. As for the food, the elk sliders were the best thing brought to the table. The entrees were good, not great. One of our steaks had to be sent back. It was a rare side of rare deep red. The order was medium rare. I'm sure we'll laugh in the future about this. But for now, this place is worth forgetting.

Yelp
This downtown K-Town restaurant is a true find. My Elk tenderloin was exceptional. Highly recommend. Reservations a must. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We hadn't dined here in a long while and had a great experience this last time. We sat at the bar. Our bartender provided outstanding service! The old building and smoky smell throughout creates an incredible ambiance. The food is all very tasty-- the sausage trio, crabs, chili, tenderloin and carrots did not disappoint. We had a really enjoyable night and wouldn't hesitate to return!

Yelp
AMAZING!!! We were in town for the weekend and found this restaurant- such a great find!! I got the Elk and I surprised myself that I ate the entire thing! At the beginning of the meal, they went through history of the property, such a fun beginning to the night! Highly recommend!

Yelp
A true culinary experience from cocktails to dessert and getting to speak with the chef and get his recommendation on dessert was above and beyond. The birthday card was such a nice and personal touch! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is the definition of overrated! For this price the food should be magical, or excellent but it's just good and that's it. Service and lighting were better. $18 for an average mushroom side? Seriously?

Yelp
We read the other reviews before coming here. Some of the bad ones made us hesitate but then we remembered that most people who have a great experience don't rush to write about it, so I decided we would. We celebrated my husband's birthday tonight. Every single dish was amazing. The ambiance was great. Would absolutely come back. Heads up, since it's all a la carte I had no idea how much to order to be full. I thought we went conservative and we still had to go boxes. For reference, we had: Two starters (sliders which as everyone says are a MUST and the rabbit/snake sausage) One salad (it was enough to share. Don't think it's intended that way but it was great for two, the kale one) One entree. It wasn't our intention to share it but hubby couldn't finish it, the tenderloin. Amazing. Two sides, truffle mac and brussel sprouts. My plan was to eat the mac as my meal because it's my fave but by the time we had split everything else I could only eat about 1/3 of the dish.

Yelp
If you like small portions and high prices then this place is perfect for you . Innovative menu, delicious focaccia bread made in house that you have to ASK for !? With the prices so high why do you have to ask for bread!?? I like the vibe of the place , I just prefer to have portions that are worth the price..
google avatar

Gabi E.

Yelp
Hands down the best steak I have ever had! I ordered the wagyu New York strip and it was absolutely fantastic! Upscale western vibe to the restaurant, perfect place for celebration, date night, or when guests come to visit.

Yelp
Can't believe the Prime Rib Friday only lunch special. Under $20 and worth every penny Little waste, delicious mashed potatoes au jus and horsey sauce. Server was attentive.

Yelp
Went here w BFF and the wives on a sojourn to Knoxville so we decided to check this joint out. Really cool space in some sorta old building and weirdly empty for 7 p on a Saturday night. We had a resi and sat right down and had this guy Will as our server. Super nice guy and very animated and very informative. The menu features game-y meats and some rabbit snake stuff. All very spendy . Same with the wine list. Nothing really of note under $100. So we got a bunch of stuff to start; lobster fritters, rabbit snake sausage and Texas chili. All were good, not great. The ladies got the beef tenderloin and the boys got the bison ribeye at $90 a rip. Less than overwhelming all the way around. Beef was a bit past mid rare to mid, bison was heavily salted and not quite as thick as you'd expect. The place was vacant most of the night and we counted a total of 12 people eating while we were there. The bar was a ghost town. Not a good sign...

Morgan M.

Yelp
Went there for a first visit. We ordered two drinks, two first course together. The rabbit rattlesnake sausage was really good but the favorite was the hush puppies. I had the bison ribeye. SOLID amount of meat especially with sides. The orzo Mac n cheese was good but I would choose the Brussels sprouts all day! Our waitress Tori was fantastic! Super knowledgeable about the menu.

Yelp
Our first impression was this place is so beautiful and hoped the food and service would match up to the ambience. The menu was a little overwhelming to say the least. First, second and third courses were offered. So to say, every item on the menu is à la cart to build a dinner. I don't eat allot of food, so I asked if I could just order the steak and asparagus. Our waitstaff person first replied, we don't have a steak, that was for New Years, so I showed it to her on the menu, she responded, oh, I guess we do. My husband and I started to place our orders and she told us since we are not ordering a three course meal, I will take the chefs a long time to get our meal out, I replied, "it takes a long time to cook a steak medium rare? She replied, yes! So, we just decided to wait for the food we wanted to enjoy and order the steak and asparagus. When it came to the table, I tried to cut a piece and it was very grainy and chewy. The meat did have a good seasoning but the texture was terrible. This restaurant offers no salad, no bread or anything extra that you don't get charged. Our meal was very disappointing and fair to say the least for such an expensive dinner. If you have unlimited funds and like to order your meals piece by piece then this is the place for you.

Yelp
Food is great, but the live music out back was some of the worst I've ever heard. A few nights in a row, it felt like a Dad Band was up there. This restaurant would be be better off sticking to food.

Yelp
Over- rated! The manager was rude! Steak was smothered in some onion goo. Won't be back!!

Yelp
I'm up for spending good money on a meal if it has all of the elements. For a restaurant that primarily serves Game food, you have to nail it. They nailed the chili and the elk sliders, for sure. However, you have to nail more than the a piece of meat to get 5 stars. It was unfortunate that every single side (other than the mac and cheese) was sub-par. Carrots were soggy, potatoes were cold, asparagus was over cooked with no crunch. If you love meat/ I recommend this place. If you're looking for the full spectrum of delicious sides to compliment the main dish than this may not be the place for you.

Yelp
Probably one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time thanks to our waiter will!! My two sisters and I got a table last minute and just came in for coffee and dessert The waiter made it his exact mission to make sure we were having a good time by even going out of his way to get us specifically what we wanted The coffee was made freshly for us even though it was like 9pm We also got the recommended the churros and the chocolate cake and it did not disappoint!!! We will definitely be back!!!!!

Yelp
This restaurant for food is comically bad for being the most expensive fine driving in Knoxville. App- overly salted fried quail on little toast squares + $3.22 per piece chargrilled oysters... not a terrible price but just do it at home. I was interested in the elk sliders until it was explained that they are elk patties. Why would you turn elk into patties... that's like when menus offer wagyu burgers or some abomination. Second- I kid you not... a COLD corn dish with scant bits of charred to dry okra mixed with some cucumber and tomato. I didn't even bother to have more than just to try this. Main- Rabbit roulade with rattlesnake stuffing and parsnip purée (was there added sugar to this? Way too sweet). Great presentation, but I only had one bite and even my fiancé who does not take part in fine dining much said it was bland. The sweetness of the parsnip does not pair well with the mediocrity of the roulade at all. Side- Hen of the Woods mushrooms. These were great minus the fried egg they put on top that they decided to add a dump truck off salt over... and I just looked up pictures of these mushrooms so I'm pretty sure they served us button mushrooms. At this point, I'm crying of amusement (anyone at the restaurant, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Here's the funny part... I ordered a side of foie gras and THIS is what I received for $8. I'm pretty sure the server even had to ask for an extra piece so it didn't look so pathetic. I've been to fine steakhouses across the country and I'm willing to pay double the price for something more than this... micro... meat... All the staff are hilarious though. Drinks appropriately priced; we will be back for the bar but never for the food again... Maximal food disappointment.

Yelp
Soooo thrilled that two days before our wedding (7/2/21) we had the pleasure of coming here with our closest friends and family! The food is out of this world delicious, one of the best steaks I have ever had, service was great (even with having a server + server in training) for our party of 17. The location, building style, ambiance, and menu selection were all exactly what I was looking for in choosing my "last supper" for the bride and groom to be! Yes, it is pricey...but well worth it and my wife and I cannot wait to get back next time we are in the area!

Everyone was so nice, hospitality is great. The food was spectacular!!! Got to meet the chef and staff and everyone was amazing.

Yelp
This is a very nice restaurant and 5/6 of us really enjoyed the meal. However I ordered the pork chops and when they came out they were still rare. I politely asked the waitress if the chef meant to prepare the chops medium rare and she said no and took them back to be re fired. They came back about 10 minutes later so dry I could not eat them. The waitress asked if I wanted them wrapped up and I said no. I figured we would be offered an apology at a minimum or a free desert but nothing. Waste of $55 and a ruined evening in my opinion.

My absolute favorite place a Knoxville to eat, and have cocktails! Little pricey, but definitely worth it!!!

Yelp
Cool high-end Western-inspired spot but, similar to my experience in Austin several years ago, I don't really get it. I've heard rave reviews from friends who have had apparently insane (generic, business) dinners at Lonesome Dove. I can't find my old review as it looks like the Austin location was re-branded but my assessment said something along the lines of the menu being overwhelming, the appetizers being a little better than expected and the entrees falling a bit under expectations. That's what happened here. This isn't a mediocre restaurant by any means but it still feels to me like something is missing or isn't being executed properly.

Yelp
We are recent transplants from Chicago/IL area and love to eat. Knoxville has continually impressed us with their array of cuisine styles. We read an article about Lonesome Dove and decided right away to give it a try. We are so glad we did. First off if you are giving this place a negative review, you are either an A$$hole or don't know how to order for your tastes. First off, Chad our server was exceptional. He was so good at describing the food and how the meal was to be ordered and would be presented/delivered that I want him to just describe my home meals to my family so they will be as excited as we were. I will state for the record that yes, this is a more expensive dining experience than we would normally do. But we went in knowing that so we were not surprised. And we felt it was worth it. We started with Drinks. Red Wine and JALAPEÑO CUCUMBER MARGARITA El Jimador Tequila, Cointreau, LD House Margarita Mix, Jalapeño, Cucumber (Choose Tim's Limited Heradurra Double Barrel Reposado +2). The margarita was delicious and I had 2. For Food - 1st Course: Hot Quail Legs, Blue Cheese Fondue, Pickled Celery - This was my least favorite item I ate and that is not a bad review. It was a 2nd choice to the sliders that were out based on the Valentines Day holiday. But by no means a bad item. Hamachi Tostadas, Ponzu, Cilantro, Toasted Garlic, Bacon, Serrano - This was AMAZING and an absolute revelation in taste. And yes, to the other reviews, they are small. But it was like a flavor explosion. I will be having this again. 2nd Course: Bowl of Texas Red, Avocado Corn Salsa, Cheddar, Crema, Crispy Tortilla - I'm a Chili Fanatic. The flavors for Texas style can be difficult to get right. This did not disappoint. The Cornbread muffin and the Focaccia Bread on the table paired wonderfully with this. It is NOT overly spicy for those that are sensitive to it. Butter Lettuce, Chili Buttermilk, Lardoons, Goat Cheese, Pickled Jalapeños - All I have to say here is that Lardoons are AMAZING. As Chad our server said, they are like Bacon Croutons. Main Course: Roasted Garlic Stuffed Beef Tenderloin, Western Plaid Hash, Grilled Asparagus, Syrah Demi-Glace - I walked in expecting to get a fish or a steak. But after Chad described this, there was no other option. And I was NOT dissapointed. It was FK'ing delicious. The hash underneath, OMG, I want this under Eggs, Chicken, by itself, you name it. The tenderloin was cooked PERFECTLY. Medium Rare and just delightful. Now for me I like a bit more salt. BUT on the table is a bowl of I believe is either Kosher or Sea salt which I was appreciative of because it allowed me to bring it to my level of saltiness. We also had Beef Tenderloin - 8 oz minimum and it was also cooked to perfection. Sides: NOTE: These were stars in themselves. Flash Fried Maitake, Soy Cured Egg Glaze, Crispy Basil - AMAZING Burnt Carrots, Local Honey, Brie, Calabrian Chili - AMAZING Crispy Cauliflower, Truffle Fondue - AMAZING - And I'd like to note here that I'm hesitant of Truffle anything because I find many places don't use it right and can ruin a dish. This was done right. I could not get enough. Desert: Our server recommended the Churros. But neither of us is a churro fan. ANCHO CHILE CHOCOLATE CAKE Vanilla Cremèux, Almond Brittle - Regardless if I eat a full meal here, if I am in the area I may grab this just to bring home and roll around in it. Just delightful. TUACA CAPPUCCINO FLAN Tuaca Cappuccino Flan - Flan for me is either a love it or hate it desert for me. This was by far one of my favorites. However, I caution people who are Flan experts to not trust my opinion. I'm not sure I can say much more about my experience here other than I will be back. I loved everything about this restaurant.

Yelp
I have been to the establishment twice and both times were great. The most recent visit was with a party of 12. Our server Ian was exceptional. We did not ever need anything because he was on top of it. I would definitely suggest the truffle mac & cheese as a side. This establishment has wonderful service, delicious food, great atmosphere, and worth every penny. They have private rooms for parties that make it feel very cozy.

Yelp
Parking was probably the only challenge of the location, especially on a Saturday night. It is in downtown (kinda the old part but still very happening area), oldest saloon (history in the side of building) multiple floors, nocks and crannies of seating areas, nice bar as you walk in, very cool upscale vibe. Can't wait to go back and ask for the table by the kitchen (I love that stuff)! We started out have a drink at the bar and they were well made craft cocktails and yummy! Just a note two drinks were over $30 for them so not an inexpensive bar menu. We were taken to our table which was up some stairs and kind of over looked the bar area. Our waitress was excellent, very knowledgeable, helpful and just plain friendly. One of the first questions asked was about allergies which for me is a great start as she instantly started letting me know of things as I looked at the menu to avoid but said if there was something she would ask the chef if a special preparation could be accommodated. Note; you do have to place your entire order at once (sans dessert) which was fine with us but it took us a few extra minutes to decide. Take a look at the menu prior to going - it is a wild game style menu with things I'd never order but it was fun trying things that are outside my comfort level when you know they will be good. Also, the meats are by the once and have a minimum weight they will sell. We started with a bottle of wine, they have quite the selection available. Then we looked at the appetizers - the nice thing is you can mix and match, they come in 3s so my husband did the Lobster hush puppy, and a devils gulf coast blue crab cake. I got the third item of hamachi tostada. (So just one of each). Very very yummy and great bite size snacks! For dinner: my husband got the 14oz Bison Ribeye (smallest cut) cooked medium. I am not a game meat person but tried it and wow the flavor was amazing! He was in heaven, soooo good- I think his actual words were outstanding! I ordered the NY strip cooked rare - flavor awesome and they know how to cook a rare steak, so good! (Midwest country girl so I judge steaks and how they are cooked pretty tough). We share and order of the burnt carrots and mashed potatoes and again so good, the flavors and doneness were perfect. We order some churros for dessert, they were good but I honestly was so full that I think it was just too much - so I don't recall them being as much of a stand out as the mains. Will we be back? Yes, 100% but this is a place you can't afford to go to every night or weekend unfortunately (at least for us - I can't drop $280 + tip every weekend on one meal). Food outstanding Service great Atmosphere great We will be back!

Yelp
I come in here pretty often. The food is really excellent and the staff is great. My friend likes to make the same corny jokes every time we visit and the staff are very good natured about it Their cocktails are really delicious, and I've never had a bad meal here. My only problem is that I sometimes go overboard because they have so many delicious choices. Some favorites include the Texas red chili and the branzino. Be aware that this is a spendy place. I find the quality of the food to be worth the price, but just be forewarned that it's not an economical place to go on a date for example.

Yelp
Food was divine-I enjoyed the burnt carrots which had a little spice but sweet enough with honey. My husbands Buffalo ribeye was extra juicy and flavorful as was my sons. The Elk sliders were on like a Hawaiian rolls but were super tender. Atmosphere was cheery but quiet enough to hear whoever is at your table. Cocktails and desserts wonderful. Prices steep! Robbie our server knew how to navigate us through the menu without any hesitation.

Yelp
Incredible steak prepared perfectly with a bit of smoke from the wood fire. Started with the crab cakes, which were great and had unique presentation. Great service at the bar from our new friend Kalli!

Yelp
Update is just to see that they are taking covid very seriously and I appreciate that. Still great food. If you are from Texas: you MUST try their chili. (If you aren't from Texas, you should try it, too.....it's the real deal!) I still go with 4 stars (which means GREAT) and not 5; I'm tough. For one thing their cocktails are too expensive!!!

Yelp
Service was top notch! For this kind of restaurant, the service is what makes the difference and they delivered. For our anniversary, we were given a personalized card signed by all the staff. Our server was attentive, on top of things, and looking to deliver (even if I'm not sure he understood all the things he was saying about the food and it's preparation). The pre-appetizer wild game fettine (we'd call it a roulade then rolled very, very thin into a multi-layered taste sliced thin like carpaccio) was new to both of us. The garlic stuff tenderloin was wonderful, as was the Branzino. They did better than do most with NA cocktails, etc. which we appreciate.

Yelp
I had high expectations and was excited to come here with close friends who I had not seen over a year since moving away from the area. Just like the other recent reviews, it was a terrible disappointment. Service was good, but that's it. Cocktails and food were uninspired, flavors were unbalanced, and the pork chops that two of our party ordered were over cooked. At this price point, the food should be executed correctly and have some visual appeal. Eating at this western bistro felt like I was being scammed, or robbed on a train in a cliche old western movie.

Yelp
We were very excited to try this restaurant for our Anniversary. We made reservations in advance like recommended. The place looks very nice outside and inside. We ordered the Elk Sliders as an app. They were delicious! Still excited. They were the best part of the meal and it went downhill from there. We ordered the Garlic Stuffed Tenderloin and the Bone In Pork Chop. They looked amazing but the taste was not the same unfortunately. The tenderloin was just ok, but I have had many that tasted so much better. The Pork Chop was horrible! It's like they tried to put stuff on top so you didn't notice how dry and horrible it was. Like it had been reheated a couple of times and served. We thought it was ridiculous that when they refilled the tea they never gave any ice with it. Come on, this is supposed to be a top notch place. They also charged $3.75 for every soda refill. Give me a break. I get paying $15 for a mixed drink but coke should be $3.75 once and then be free refills. We don't have any problem paying a lot for a special occasion great meal, but $175 later and we didn't eat half our food. We didn't ask for any to go boxes because it wasn't worth taking home. I've had way better meals at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. We aren't the type of people that complain to the waiter and send stuff back or ask for money taken off, so we just paid the bill and left. We left so disappointed that we chose this place for our Anniversary and will NEVER be back! 2 stars for the look of the place and the sliders.

Yelp
A big miss!!! Service was subpar for this price point. Service was very slow, disinterested and did not make a special occasion memorable. Food - roasted garlic beef tenderloin was excellent but the hand cut steaks New York were fatty and flavorless. Honestly most of the food was bland and not well seasoned. The crab cakes are a hard pass. They were salty, burnt mess that tasted like bad canned shellfish. The truffle macaroni'n cheese was actually orzo not macaroni it was terrible. The server was argumentative when I pointed out this was not macaroni but an entirely different side. At this price point I would expect a higher level of service and food quality. Again the server was disinterested and we even had a dirty napkin left on our chair from a previous guest.

Yelp
The wife and I sat at the Bar. Ray and Wil are the Stars of the restaurant. Elm sliders came highly recommended. Overpriced and Mushy. Was hard to find on the plate but I moved my fork and found them. Oysters are nothing special. Brussels sprouts were good. We will give them a second chance but my expectations are low. Ray and Wil are the reason to go.

Yelp
I have long been a fan of Lonesome Dove. It's a go-to spot for ladies night, and for good reason. Steak, wine, and great service make this a natural standout. Great News: In the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic you don't have to be without the goodness that is Lonesome Dove. (Insert sigh of relief here.) They have done an amazing job of pivoting in this crazy time into a market. Not only can you grab some kitchen staples like flour, butter, eggs, and bread, they are also selling their steaks at a super reasonable price. But wait, there's more! You can also purchase from their entire wine list for 50% off. They are even offering their signature cucumber jalapeno margaritas in 32oz batches. Amazing! So grab a couple of steaks, a few bottles of wine, and set up your next ladies night on Zoom.

Yelp
My wife brought me here for dinner to experience something new and bless her heart she did well BUT we are not coming back here. The food is not as good as people think it is, either the severs do not know the menu to be able to speak to it or they are just content to use their name recognition to keep saying the same stuff. I asked that I didn't want any spicy food and everything they brought out was spicy. The only good thing was the martini I ordered and even that was not strong enough to keep eating the food here. Do your research and look over the menu if you never been here before, had she shared the menu with me prior I would have vetoed this place.
