21 Essential Houston Barbecue Joints

"Launched by a former Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy, this barbecue joint serves up brisket, chicken, and pork ribs with a side of old-fashioned barbecue, but its forte is sausage. Specializing in different housemade links to satisfy your sausage lust, choose from the East Texas-style link, the Central Texas-style beef-and-pork sausage, and the jalapeno-cheese variety, and leave happy." - Brittany Britto Garley, Eater Staff

Not many places treat you like you are family, but Lonestar Sausage and BBQ not only has great food but the kindest of people working there. I got a baked potato with brisket and chicken and my husband got a two meat plate with sausage, sliced brisket, potato salad and macaroni n cheese. Everything was delicous! The chicken had a great smoky flavor and the brisket was a perfect mix of the lean and fatty parts. My husband enjoyed the spicy kick in the sausage and macaroni n cheese. The owner was so nice, came and talked with us for a little while and offered some jalapeños fresh from his garden. Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu!

I normally don't eat Sausage at BBQ place. But the Sausage is dynomite so good. You get your money works and The Owner is a very Handsome, friendly Guy. Make you feel like family and welcome. He take his time to help you figure out what you like to make sure you are a satisfied customer. I found my new BBQ place to go to now on. Me and my daughter enjoy every bit. Very flavorful. This is a 4 meat plate. Ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage with baked beans and green beans 🤤 😁😁

Food was excellent. They made the greens fresh. I had brisket and ribs. Oh, my gosh, everything was delicious. The first time in there people were nice.I don't remember the young man's name that was helping me, but he was beautiful.

If you're a BBQ lover—or just someone who appreciates seriously good food and Lonestar Sausage and BBQ is an absolute gem you need to try. From the moment we walked in, we were hit with that mouthwatering smoky aroma that tells you right away: this place means business. The star of the show? Their homemade sausage. Hands down some of the best I’ve ever had—juicy, perfectly spiced, and clearly made with care. You can taste the difference. The rest of the BBQ lineup doesn’t disappoint either: tender brisket, fall-off-the-bone ribs! What really makes Lonestar stand out, though, is the people behind it. The owners personally came out to greet us, check in, and make us feel right at home. That kind of hospitality is rare and made the experience even better. You can tell they pour their heart into everything they do—both the food and the atmosphere. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check out Lonestar Sausage and BBQ. Great people, incredible food, and a true taste of Texas BBQ done right. We’ll definitely be back!

Thank you for catering my granddaughter’s graduation celebration. Everything was fresh and delicious. Owner and staff was professional, welcoming and food was ready for pickup on time. 😊

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! This is some of that best cooking I’ve had since I’ve been here that I had to come back again. The ribs are to die for and you don’t even need sauce with them. Service is absolutely amazing and Kevin makes you feel like you’re at home. Definitely coming back again soon

Me and wife are from Puerto Rico. The food the atmosphere and the service was excellent. The owner greets you at the entrance and makes you feel comfortable. I ordered a plate that feeds 2, including chicken, ribs, brisket, and sausages. If you want to taste real authentic Texas BBQ then definitely stop here.

Google
Very welcoming staff. The food was outstanding. I was traveling to visit TX after being gone for decades and looked forward to good BBQ & they did not disappoint! The fried okra alone was worth the drive! If I lived locally, I would eat there again for sure. Also, there were abundant portions of what I ordered in the 2-meat platter. I gave 4 stars for environment due to a couple minor dislikes: asked for salt & pepper and easily given 1 little packet of each, could have used more napkins, no iced drinks - only from a bottle (I'm an ice fiend to be fair), and tables were very close together and acoustics made for a loud lunch experience. Overall, I would recommend!

Yelp
The food was so good I didn't get to take a picture of it! Mr. Kevin does a phenomenal job at providing excellent customer service and delicious food!! I had the two meat plate (brisket and ribs), baked beans and potato salad and an extra side of his swamp sausage (handmade sausage with pork and beef). Everything was delicious - don't forget to ask for the family BBQ sauce. You won't be disappointed. What's crazy, I've driven by this little shop numerous of times and never noticed it until a good friend of mine, Mr. Gunn, invited me. I will be returning since the ambiance is welcoming, food is delicious, and Mr. Kevin made me feel like family. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
I had no idea about this little gem spot until I saw it on an episode of Localish a year or so ago. I finally decided that yesterday afternoon was the day for my first visit to Lonestar Sausage & Bbq. It was for sure a long ride, like 45 minutes or more. However, it was worth it ! I ordered the Lean Brisket & Sausage Plate with mac n cheese and collard greens for the sides. I then got a slice of that Yellow Cake with Fudge Frosting after the meal. Everything was really delicious, juicy, tender and made with pure love. The brisket was imo one of the 3 best brisket I have ever had right after # 1 nationally ranked Franklin Bbq in Austin. It was really well-seasoned and salted perfectly. It was really tender with an ideal amount of fat to beef ratio. The bark was very good as well as the meat's thickness. The solid smokiness with a hint of very subtle sweetness packed a good punch as good TX Bbq should. It was on the flat side as I tend to prefer for this cut, but definitely not dry or too lean by any means. The sausage was also one of the best I have ever had with a fatty, well-spiced flavor to it. It wasn't slimy though. It had that nice crunch on the outside layers contrasting the mushier inside. You could really tell it was handmade and not store-bought or full of unknown chemicals. The mac n cheese was very fluffy despite looking rich. It had a sour cream profile with some peppery notes I think. It was unique in a way and definitely appreciated as a side imo. I am a fan of collard greens in general and these were basic and yet very good with a moist texture and sourish, earthy taste containing some sausage in it too. I am open to trying more sides here, but these two are going to heavily be considered when I return due to enjoying them very much. The bbq sauce was clearly handmade with a runny texture and great balance of sweetness and tartness. Both meats on my tray honestly did not even need any sauce, but a little on some bites is extra fun when consuming bbq. That yellow cake with fudge was really good, buttery, soft, moist, crumbly and fresh with a really good chocolaty icing layer. Both parts of the cake were very tasty and I had to save some for my dad, bc he grew up on this cake up North. It had that taste n feel like one made by an older family member for decades. Classic, retro, so comforting and sweet. It's also one of my favorite cakes along with a dark chocolate midnight cake. Yellow cake is seemingly uncommon and it's a very flavorful one. As for the service. The guy at the window who took my order was very welcoming, helpful and polite. The owner who's also a former Houston Cougar football player from the late 80s and retired cop was very engaging, really friendly, really kind and so attentive to his guests. You can really tell he's a true people person with excellent bbq skills to go with it. I plan to make a trip to this place once a year when I can.

Yelp
Great food! A must try, everything about it was on point. Even down to the service, very friendly and welcoming. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
I drove 34 miles to try this location's homemade sausages. The beef creole sausage was disgustingly greasy and extremely salty and tasted old. The clerk never offered any suggestions for a 1st time customer. He finally "hesitantly" gave me a sample of their "signature" sausage. It was decent but hard to judge because of the horrible aftertaste of that Beef creole sausage lingering in my mouth,he refused to give a sample of the Creole one. The location was clean and comfortable inside. I asked for a side of potato salad which was a very small amount. Total price for 2 roped links side of potato salad was $26.08. He gave a bag of chips and pickles and onions. My advice would be to take the Creole sausage I was served off the menu. I originally asked him for a sample of his best sausage because I was interested in buying several pounds. For a gumbo cook off. If he would have originally offered a sample of his best, I would have purchased 5 pounds of his signature sausage. This will be the 1st and last time going to this business.

Yelp
Finally! Wait, need more emphasis cause this is serious. FINALLY! After over 30 years living in Houston and searching from one side of town to the other. Traveling to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, Galveston and even Pearland; I have finally found some good BBQ at a restaurant in Texas. Good enough to write home about? Heck yeah I'm doing it! This is happening! Let's be clear here. I've been convinced that the only way you can achieve eating really good Q in Texas is to make it yourself or have a friend who can cook it themselves, in their own back yard, on a real pit, with real wood, and real charcoal. No pellets, no propane but real down home BBQ. Ladies and gentlemen I finally have discovered the perfect little hole in the wall spot with real down home BBQ that literally puts to shame every single well known famous restaurant that has been bragged about and honored with blue ribbons and crap for years in Houston. This little gem of a place has so much passion in their Q that they make all of their sausages homemade. No fake chemicals and processing are in these babies. Hands down the very best sausages I've ever had in any restaurant in all of Texas. The sausages alone are worth the drive to this place. Those sausages I tried were so freaking good that I forgot to take a picture of them. I was at an Awe. The ribs were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Same as the chicken. The term YUM is an understatement. As for the Brisket, I can't really judge that one for you as I am honestly not a brisket kind of guy. I like me some ribs and I like me some sausages and some good ole BBQ chicken. I tried the brisket and I honestly wasn't that impressed but remember, I don't do brisket much unless it's chopped beef and I wasn't in the mood at the time for a sandwich. Now back to finally. I BBQ myself and there are times where you just don't want to cook for yourself and wish there was a place you can depend on to satisfy the Q urge. It's been impossible to find that anywhere in Houston without some huge disappointment. Massive disappointment. Expensive disappointment. Lonestar Sausage and BBQ did not disappoint. The owner Kevin Mason greeted us with a smile and was very generous to even offer us some tasters that immediately encouraged me to place a big order to take some home for the evening. Dayum those sausages are freaking gud!!! Keep Q'ing and Prosper!

Yelp
This place lacks adequate AC for dine in orders. You have to pay cash for homemade desserts. Interesting?? The lack of AC really affects the attitude of the employees. Bread cost extra wow! This is a BBQ place correct. Now to be fair I am not sure what they ordered so maybe bread is extra. We opened our to go containers before we left as instructed. The food looked wonderful. Well, the catfish dinners were scrumptious. The fried Boudin egg rolls were exceptionally awesome. I ordered the 3 meat plate which came with two sides and bread. I ordered brisket, sausage, ribs, beans and potato salad, the food was very tasty, and the bbq sauce was very good. I would not consider this a place for dine in, but take was efficient and well managed. Please fix your AC!!!

Yelp

Yelp
Ordering some today! Taste So good! Just like home! Number 1 in Houston! Also, the ribs are great!

Yelp
The food has great flavor. I only got takeout but it seems like it is a small place if you want to eat there. My only complaint is that they don't answer the phone and the hours and days they are open are not very good.

Art E.

Yelp
They have the best home links in Houston, I have to go to Beaumont, TX to get home made links from Patillo's Bar B Que to get there home made links. I found out Lonestar has some great homemade links almost like Patillo's. They save me a trip and taste so good. If you have never had a homemade links, you need to have at least one. They are nothing like getting sausage at a bar b Que place.

Yelp
Food: Absolutely delicious. And the bbq beans was perfect. But they provide skimp amount of side condiments of pickles and onions. Wish they would do what other BBQ do: place their condiments on a side table to let patrons grab as much as they desire. 3 stars Service: Texas-size friendly and warm. 5 stars Ambiance: The outside area surrounding this restaurant looks dilapidated. And the inside looks like a hole-in-the-wall. But these hole-in-the-walls are sometimes the best. I was ordering to go anyways. So the ambiance didn't matter to me. No Star rating by me on this. Overall: I'm only going to rate the food and service. Ambiance didn't matter to me. Go for the amazing food! 4 Stars.

Yelp
I've had Lonestar bookmarked for a long time and finally got by there for lunch last week. It's a small restaurant inside with maybe 3-4 tables inside with a couple of picnic tables outside. I ordered the Big Texas entree which is 1/2 chicken with 2 sides for $12.10. I chose beans and potato salad and the food was ready in about 10 minutes and served on a large platter with bbq sauce and sliced bread. This was a very good meal. The cut up 1/2 chicken was juicy and flavorful and I enjoyed it (4). The beans were excellent (5) and the mustard based potato salad was cool and creamy and not tart. I also like their bbq sauce here. It's a little runny but tasty. This is a meal that I would be happy to order again and was also a great value. Lonestar is an excellent choice for bbq.

Yelp
Lonestar Sausage & BBQ serves outstanding Texas BBQ. I ordered the 3 meat plate, and chose ribs, brisket and sausage; for sides I ordered baked beans, dirty rice and coleslaw. The meats were incredible. The brisket cut I ordered was the point/moist (fatty) cut of brisket, which was outstanding. The ribs were perfectly flavored and had great consistency. The sausage was home made and had great flavor. The portion size of the meat was enormous, I suggest if you order the 3 meat or more platter you share it between two people or plan to have leftovers. This restaurant has seating but isn't really a sit down restaurant. The restaurant is more suited for to-go orders. The sides were good, but the meats were outstanding. You receive a ton of food for the price, I highly recommend this restaurant to any BBQ lover.

Yelp
I found my new favorite BBQ near my office! Came for the sausage (because it's in the name before BBQ) and it wasn't quite ready when we ordered, so we had the brisket. It was excellent! The owner came by to ask how everything was and brought us a free sausage link and we were not disappointed. Thank you, Kevin! We will be letting all our coworkers know about you.

Yelp
When you walk in the door it appears that almost everyone knows each other. The owner even helped me with information to make my order which was a Big Texan 3-Meat plate with potato salad and dirty rice. The 3 meats were ribs, homemade sausage and moist brisket. The bar-be-Que tasted like a truly delicious meal and all the meat you could taste the smoke flavor with the brisket having perfect smoke rings as I bit into the moist cut. Sometimes I have a hard time eating brisket but not this brisket. The dirty rice was soft and seasoned well. To top it off it was just like home cooking on my pit.
google avatar

Douglas R.

Yelp
I am not a local but the food was amazing. I got the 3 meal plate and 2 sides. With some dirty rice which was very very good! Along with the brisket and sausage! Wow!!! It all went down real good with the Bbq sauce. Met the owner! And he is a very welcoming nice guy! I would come back again.

Carmen M.

Yelp
The bbq ribs and brisket are the best I have ever eaten. I always call ahead of 5:30 pm because when the ribs and brisket are gone for the day, they are gone.

Yelp
1st the Food is delicious I had the 3 meat plate (beef sausage, turkey & chicken) side of mac & cheese, beans. 2nd the costumer service is by far the best , explained the menu items and greeted regular customers and knew what that customer usually ordered... 3rd ITS BLACK OWNED!!!! I most definitely have become a regular customer!!

Yelp
I actually googled, "Beaumont, TX style beef links" and this place was at the top of the list. That being said, when I ordered the links the person at the counter seemed like she was trying to talk me out of them. Said she didn't know if I knew what I was ordering, also said the texture was different. I asked if they were like Beaumont links and she looked at me oddly like I was speaking a foreign language. Any who, they are like the Beaumont links, for inquiring minds who want to know. I tried the hot link meal with 2 sides. The beef hot link was pretty tasty...well-seasoned and kind of on the hot side, but not so hot you won't enjoy it; the bbq sauce was equally as tasty. Baked beans were good and not over sweet. Greens were canned, enough said. Very, very small place with very few tables, better to get your order to go. The person behind the counter taking orders wasn't that friendly and seemed a tad annoyed.

Yelp
The place was pretty busy for 2P on a Saturday, so that part seemed promising - I walked in and ordered some meat (brisket and sausage) and everyone was super friendly/helpful ... I turned around to grab a seat and realized the place was DISGUSTING - not a clean table in the house (the "busy" actually walked in right after me - so when I turned around, there was only one person sitting at a table and the rest were caked in grease ... I decided not to sit and stood waiting for my food ... I almost slipped because the floor was caked in grease, too .............. I got my food and walked out - sat in my car to eat - the bag was covered in grease as was the box inside - the brisket was OK, but lacked salt - the sausage I didn't try because it was superrrrrrr greasy, still a little pink on the inside (not sure if undercooked or just seasoning) and the casing wasn't browned at all/just falling off like it was boiled or something? Didn't look appetizing and instead looked like I might need some Pepto Bismol later ................. so I didn't try it - I'm tossing about 75% of the food I ordered and grabbing a protein shake instead - at least I know that's safe to consume! Maybe I caught them on a rough day and they're just getting through a lunch rush??? Hung over??? Like I said, they were all super friendly, so I kinda hate leaving a bad review, but - I'm also really grossed out and basically throwing away $10 .......

Yelp
This is a great Texas BBQ place! The food was amazing and the choice of sauces gives you a choice of exploring different flavors. The service was prompt and helpful. The place is super clean and you have the choice of sitting indoors or outdoors.

Yelp
This location has been on my radar for a while. I should've tried this place along time ago. The owner Kevin is extremely nice and knows how to make excellent barbecue. Kevin is a pitmaster. I have eaten barbecue all over Texas. Most of the great spots in Houston, most of the great spot in Austin,. All over. Let me tell you this is some amazing barbecue. Food: the ribs are absolutely amazing. Ribs are the hardest thing to cook in my opinion and Kevin and his team have perfected the rib. I mean these are just simply out of this world great. So much flavor, very tender, it is simply amazing. If you're reading this and like barbecue you must try the ribs here. The brisket is just as good as well. The brisket is very tender and full of flavor. I really enjoyed both meets a lot. If had to pick a favorite though it is definitely the ribs. The ribs are special. Kevin was extremely nice and let me try some of his potato salad as well. The potato salad was so good. Also the barbecue sauce is so good. It has so much flavor. I really cannot wait to come back here. I will definitely be back ASAP! I would like to try several more things off the menu. Support local. If you follow me on Yelp this is a must try. I would like to see your review and I would like to see what you thought about it. I am telling you the ribs are simply that good. Right now I would have to say these are the best ribs I've had in Houston and that's a huge statement!

Yelp
OMG this BBQ is absolutely delicious. NO SAUCE NEEDED (sauce good too) BUT NOT NEEDED YOU HEAR ME. If you are in the area stop by and try the hidden gem I'm telling everyone I know. Door Dashed it and was delivered hot and ready will definitely order again!

Yelp
We found this place by Google as we were passing through Houston on our way from Texarkana to Galveston. And boy are we glad we drove a little out of the way to try it! The owner was there and he treated us just like family! The food was insanely delicious and the portions were huge! The prices can't be beat when it comes to BBQ that's cooked with love! Ribs were so tender and the sausage was amazing! We had the Mac n cheese and beans and they were an excellent addition to our meal! If you are looking for a one of a kind BBQ joint-go try out Lone Star Sausage & BBQ! It will not disappoint!!! we will be going back to this place again! We enjoyed the food and service equally!
google avatar

Tammy J.

Yelp
They have the most moist brisket I have ever tasted. Just the right amount of burnt on the end that is edible. Just don't care to much for the bbq sauce. Always ask for it on the side.
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I could give a 4.5 rating. Lonestar sausage & BBQ is a great place to go for a great meal, served by some awesome owners. Today my friends from Washington state flew in and the first thing they wanted to do was try some Texas BBQ. I moved into my new house recently so I'm still getting my baring and finding new places to eat. So we came across Lonestar and man are we glad that we did! We got to meet the owners, Kevin and Pam. They were both very friendly and personable. When I go to a restaurant I look for three things. 1) good food - check, 2) good service - check, and 3) fair pricing - check. Lonestar has it all. I highly recommend them if you are local or if you are visiting Houston. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Lonestar BBQ had some great reviews so I decided to try it out. The lady at the counter was very nice! After ordering a three meat plate the wait to get my food was not long. I took my food to go and ate it at home. It was a lot of food it ate on it for three meals. I got brisket, sausage and ribs and Mac n cheese and potato salad as my sides. I honestly think the sausage was my least favorite. The reviews were pretty great when it came to sausage but it was dry, a bit tough and didn't care for the flavor. The Mac was a bit over cooked and wasn't my fave. The ribs were excellent and I loved the potato salad. The brisket was okay but also not a favorite. If I return it would be for the ribs. The price for what you get is very reasonable. I am glad I got the 3 meat so I could try several things on my first visit. I would definitely return. Those ribs had me wanting more.

Yelp
A hidden gem..Don't sleep on this place.Ribs tasty and and flavorful. Mac and cheese will shock you...brisket tender..try this place..

Yelp
Sausage is delicious brisket and don't forget the baked potatoes. They make you feel like family here. Great place to come get BBQ.

Yelp
Decided to try this BBQ spot for a pre-labor day feast. I had a large meat order and the patience to wait. Upon walking in you can smell the smoked meat aroma and there were plenty folks waiting on their food order some mentioning waiting for an hour (WoW! This place must be really good can't wait to try). The homemade links were the absolute best and we enjoyed the ribs and brisket, too. I'll skip the sides next time. Although the Beans were good had brisket pieces mixed in. I wanted to try the dirty rice opting for a small and it was definitely that and for $3 (shame on me!) the rice was good just wished I got small beans and quart of rice. Overall it was good.

Neo T.

Yelp
The food was fabulous and the portion is big. I ordered the four meat dinner combo (sausage, chicken, brisket, and ribs) everything was moist and very flavorful. Definitely come back again.

Amanda A.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING. Tried their sausage, egg rolls, ribs, and brisket. All amazing. Do yourself a favor and just go.

Yelp
This small restaurant at the center of a small strip center has a small sign, so look for the big red arrow on the marquee pointing to the words "BBQ", and you can't miss it. Inside, just like the outside, is nothing fancy. There are 4 tables for dine-in customers and 2 tables on the sidewalk outside. When dining inside, keep in mind there are several people coming and going since it seems to be mostly take out here. I tried the hot link, the beef / pork sausage, and pork ribs. Enjoyed all of the food and it was a lot so I had to take some home. My favorite was probably the ribs though. They were just tender and tasty! The bbq sauce was alright and not spicy whatsoever. Very friendly service here, they treat you like family.
google avatar

Camille G.

Yelp
Food is some of the best BBQ I've had in Houston. We had chopped beef, ribs, chicken, sausage and smoked turkey. ALL of it was delicious and smoked to perfection. I don't even eat sausage and I really enjoyed theirs :-). It tasted clean and hardly had any grease. Not only was the food great, the customer service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Pookie W.

Yelp
The owner was so nice and pleasant. We talked for a few while our food was being prepared. The meat (chicken, sausage and brisket) we really, REALLY good. As far as sides, the baked beans were tasty but the greens, mac and cheese and potato salad were nothing special. Actually the "collard greens" tasted more like turnip greens. Honestly, I would probably give this place another shot. I just would pass on the greens, potato salad and mac & cheese but the meat is def worth a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Great barbecue and sausage. The sides are good and plentiful. The owner always greets you when you come in.

Yelp
What a nice guy. So glad I found this place. Just moving from a different state and I sure needed a friendly face, this guy is just what I needed. Great food. And great service!

Yelp
They have just lost a customer because of their service. I tried to order 2 4 meat plates I wanted: 1st meat: sausage 2nd meat: ribs 3rd meat: Turkey 4th meat: Turkey They informed me the could not do 2of the same meats. If I am the customer paying $40+ dollars for my meal, I should be able to order my food how I choose. This place does not have to worry about me ordering from them again! I was trying to support a black owned business but they truly slapped me in the face!!!!

Yelp
I waited 30 minutes on my lunch break and they were no where near having my order ready. I don't even know if they had started it. I got my money back, but they didn't give a receipt so they gave me cash. And to make it worse they gave me less than what I paid. I just left because I had to get back to work. I've been here a couple times becaue it is close but its not worrh it. Brisket just ok and wait is crazy long everytime even with no customers.

Great BBQ! Kevin and his staff make every customer feel welcome, just like family. I have enjoyed the sausage, chopped beef sandwich, and his boudin egg rolls. Come see him today!

Yelp
I'm wondering how they only have 4 stars!! The brisket is good, the chicken is juicy, the beans are bomb. Mason is friendly and the atmosphere..think Black Barber shop!!

Yelp
Well today I headed 45 North to check out a BBQ joint I been hearing a lot about. I often get asked how far would I drive to find good BBQ? My question back to them is how far are you willing to drive to find it? I like looking for BBQ joints off the beaten path, them joints that are not as known as the big fancy BBQ joints that always get the press and publicity that have the long lines. Most of the time I find out the these small Mom and Pop joints put out just as good BBQ as the big names. As I walked in I was greeted by the owner Keven Mason who you might of heard of, that's because he use to catch passes from Andre Ware when he played football for UofH, he was also a Harris County deputy for 30 years before tossing his hat into the BBQ game by making sausage starting Lone Star sausage in 2016. In 2019 he added & BBQ and the rest was history. I ordered the 4 meat plate that came with brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage, and 2 sides so I got the green beans and dirty rice. For me I think this is the only place you can get a 4 meat plate for $22.66 add a drink for $1.54 and the total with tax was $26.00 and some change when I been to some places and pay over $30 for just a 2 meat plate. We talked BBQ and mind you I got there when the place opened at 11am I left almost 4 hours later. As customers came in to place orders its like he knew everyone that walked in the door and I felt like I was in the barber shop of BBQ spots everyone talked sports and BBQ. I asked him in these times where meat prices are so high how could he continue to have such low prices? his reply was "I cant raise prices to people that support me day in and day out. Most of my customers are elderly on fixed incomes they are barely making it as it is, I just can't take advantage of people simply to make a profit. God has blessed me and I want to give back to the people that supported us for these many years." As I got my plate I was in awe by how much food was on it and he was like "Wait! you need to try our hot link.." I started with the brisket and it was very tender and moist you could taste the smoke that the Old Hickory smoker was putting on the meats. The ribs were also spot on and the bite was just right, the chicken was moist with flavor that you could taste under the skin. Before I get to the sausage let me mention the sides the green beans were so good that I couldn't help myself to drink the juice they were in and that dirty rice all I can say its like something you get out of Louisiana and not dry at all.. Now to the sausage mind you this place prizes it self on its in house sausage and I can see why. Everything about the sausage was just what sausage should be like and all I could think about is my good buddy Bill Dumas saying "A good sausage is all in the application of putting it together and not to mention a good snap." The hot link was also on another level because not everyone can do the right way, but this one was perfect and the consistency was like having Mexican chorizo and very juicy. Over all I highly recommend Lone Star Sausage & BBQ located at 13712 Walters Rd 77014, Not only for the price but the great food and great company. I definitely had the pleasure on sitting with Keven, just getting to know him, to just talk BBQ with a fellow Pitmaster. I will be seeing you again in the very future my friend and may you business continue to thrive..

Yelp
The food is good. That's one thing the restaurant has going for it. Incredibly disappointed by the service I have received at this restaurant. Generally the person taking orders is on the phone with someone else (unrelated to the business) and quite dismissive. Today I placed an order for pickup via DoorDash. I tried to call first but no one answered. The message directed customers to place an order online- so I did. When the order was marked as completed in the app we went to pick it up. When we arrived the gentleman stated that the business had cancelled their DoorDash service. No apologies. No offer to cancel the order and have us pay cash for the food. Nothing. Just a dismissive attitude. Here's the thing, though: SOMEONE at that business had to mark the order COMPLETED. Why didn't you just cancel the order? Why didn't you call me? The unprofessional nature of this business has soured me on local restaurants for a while.
