Yelp
It's one of my favorite airports to travel to and from. I travel a considerable amount for professional and personal travel. I must say Long Beach is one of my favorites. Disclaimer: I am not considering international Airports, they are in a category all on their own. Let's jump right into this review.
Pros
1. Small, quaint - if you are looking for less airport drama, that includes parking, getting through security, bag drop, and super crowded areas, Long Beach is a great option.
2. Outside eating area with beach vibes. During the summer months, this is an amazing option to sit out, catch some sun, and/or a breeze while you wait to board your plane.
3. On-site parking is only $20 per day, $29 if you valet per day. Compared to LAX $50 per day, you are winning here.
4. Cell phone waiting lot for those who need to pick up travelers. There is no charge. Say what! A lot of airports don't have waiting areas. It's a short drive about to get to the entrance where most travelers wait for rides and/or Ubers.
5. Clean. If you are a frequent traveler, then you know some airports are just disgusting.
6. Friendly staff.
7. You board your plane from the front and back. Sometimes you can deplane the same way. It makes for a quick getting on and off.
8. Baggage claim is a short work from the main terminal (the only terminal), which has ample seating and restrooms.
Cons
1. Limited food options but given the size it is expected.
2. If something goes wrong, equipment challenges, delayed flights, etc - it makes for a complicated situation.
3. Only three airlines at Long Beach Airport - Delta, Hawaiian, or Southwest.
When I can, I fly out of Long Beach Airport. The cost of an Uber one way is more expensive than parking 4 days at the airport. If I'm traveling for an extended period of time, I opt for self parking. For me, going right to my car and home with no waiting on an Uber is worth the $20 per day parking fee.
