The Best Restaurants Along Coastal Mississippi | Eater New Orleans

"Love Long Beach Market & Deli, a family-owned casual eatery that welcomes pets, kids, and everybody in between. There’s patio dining, where a range of Korean, Chinese, Cajun, Vietnamese, vegetarian, and American dishes are served. Whether nibbling on Korean barbecue or a banh mi, it’s worth noting that chef Lucia van Norden is not only a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School, she was raised in South Korea, so that bulgogi is the real deal. Huge selection of ice-cold beer." - Beth D’Addono

Google
this is one of those places, that make me think of that poem by EB Browning- “how do i love thee.. let me count the ways…” First of all the food, is always amazing, and they have a little of something for EVERYONE- the steak wrap, one of the best i have ever had. the banh mi fries and summer spring rolls are on my weekly diet- then there are the house made crab rangoons- that you cannot stop eating. The staff, always pleasant- always so amazing and helpful. Since i have moved to long beach this is one of our families weekly staples- we are so glad it is in our town! If you are thinking about coming, and never been - let this be your invitation. ❤️

Google
Not sure what I was expecting with this place, but excellent Korean BBQ was not it. Convenience store for beer as well. About 8 taps including one cider, got the spiked razz lemonade though. It was very steady with business!

Google
Long Beach Market would be a nice addition to your list of good restaurants on the coast. Not on the beach so no view - and little off the beaten trail but worth the drive. A mix of coastal cuisine and dishes with a Korean influence. Items include summer rolls, tacos, and other Asian inspired dishes as well as Poboys. The front end of the store also sells a very good selection of local craft beer and they also have a nice selection of beers on tap. Seating is available outside under a large covered patio as well as seating inside.

Google
1st time going here. A friend wnated me to try it. I was expecting something different menu wise but was pleasantly surprised. My friend ordered pork tacos, which looked very good presentation wise. I actually ordered their general taso chicken, with chicken fried rice, typically comes with crab rangoon or egg roll. I mentioned my allergy, they took extra precaution before preparing ny food even though they were busy. They cleaned the things thoroughly before doing my order which is appreciated. Now the food I ordered was very fresh, it tasted different then what you get in a asian reaturaunt, the flavors were full and robust very pleasant. Their version is a bit spicier than what you typically get which I loved, I assume they are using traditional red peppers for the spice versus the norm. I didnt care for the rice only becaise it tasted very organic to me and or the egg qhich i dont care for was the culprit. I will go back and 10/10 would recommend

Google
Oh my gosh, this little gem in Long Beach was great! I had the veggie Summer Roll it was so fresh and delicious 😋 I have had these at numerous restaurants and this one by far has been the best. I also had waffle fries and fried okra. They were fresh and tasted awesome! I do recommend eating here. I do plan to go back soon. Also, customer service was fantastic.

Google
Such a small unassuming “deli” on the outside, but packed with a ton of amazing options you wouldn’t expect from poboys to Vietnamese style spring rolls and Korean rice bowls… in addition to a very impressive selection of beer ranging from local to other kickass options like Wiseacre in Memphis and Good People Brewing in Birmingham. The Korean chicken bowl is my favorite, love the crab wonton and onion rings with small side of greens. General tso’s chicken was also good but more on the heavy, fried side. They have a really nice outdoor patio and seating with a big TV, plus some events during the week. Don’t skip the desserts, the Ube cheesecake was so good! I’m obsessed with Ube and not easily impressed but theirs has a nice flavor. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Long Beach. Would bring guests and friends visiting here as well.

Google
Ordered, VERY descriptively, NO spicy mayo and of course, they delivered. Gotta’ love a sense of humor almost as much as I love this restaurant. Thank y’all 😩

Google
Best spot for food!!! If you haven't stopped by you should definitely try it. Fried rice and bahn-mi are great

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant on the coast. I lived in BSL while growing up and somehow missed out on this gem for 20 years. When I first discovered it, I could not stop going. Everything on the menu is a huge hit, the atmosphere is great, and I haven't even mentioned their gigantic beer wall- filled with local cans and bottles as well as a few taps for local drafts. Every time I return home to MS I make it a must stop, and it has yet to disappoint anyone that I've brought so far. The staff is always so nice and helpful, but go to order is always the kogi fries (it's essentially chicken in a bulgogi marinade). They're always very spicy but the pain is worth it because they have such amazing flavor. If you're not a big spice person but still want the oriental flavor I would recommend their sweet and sour chicken, it blows away most local Chinese establishments. Please support this amazing business so that I'm never disappointed and can continue visiting in the future!

Yelp
Excellent grub. Fun and quirky establishment. Friendly and helpful staff. We got cheeseburger and fries plus banh mi tacos, kogi fries, beer. Them kogi fries were FIRE! Delicious. The tacos were good. Lots of fresh ingredients. The beer was a nice accompaniment. You order at the counter then take a seat. They have fountain drinks, beer on tap, beer and soda bottles in the fridge, plus 6-packs of beer on the shelves. It was a fun and unique experience.

Yelp
Discovered this little deli and beer market on a Facebook group. Glad I did, had a great selection of canned and bottle choices to bring back for our family gathering. We also decided to eat lunch there and I really enjoyed the kimchi fries, thought they were very good, but the red beans and rice that I had although, tasted good, was warm but not hot. Glad we found a local place that has a lot of beer choices for us to bring back when we visit the in-laws.

Yelp
One of our favorite places. "Our" includes Sam, PenPen (our fur baby) and me. Everyone is very friendly and our food has always been delicious. We have tried special Asian dishes and we also think they have the best hamburger around. I love that they are involved with the community. I mentioned our fur baby, the outdoor seating allows for PenPen to join us. The seating is spaced and can accomodate those that prefer not to be near any fur babies.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place while out of town and hungry. We just happened to pass it and decided to stop. Inside looks like a gas station honestly which gave me high hopes. Gas station food is so good where I'm from. Since we had never been there we grabbed a menu and started looking. We felt very rushed to order. I didn't like that. The food ended up being really good.

Yelp
DELISH local spot! Met a group for lunch here and when I saw the name I thought it would be Turkey stuff but it's Asian fusion! So so good I got the Bahn Mi Poboy and everything else people got looked so good. The people are so friendly and they do allow dogs

Yelp
I had the Banh Mi sandwich & it was great! My husband had the cheeseburger which he liked as well. We both had a side of potato salad that was good but very small. It came in a small container that salad dressing usually comes in. That is my only negative. I wish I had gotten the corn nuggets. A lady next to me had them & they looked amazing! Will return if we are in the area again!

Paulette

Yelp
I ordered chicken banh mi sandwich but was given à barbecue pork sandwich. I did not realize the mistake until I bit into it; I don't eat pork. Even so, that sandwich was soggy and dripping with grease. When I brought the order mistake to the waitress's attention, she response was inappropriate.. Nevertheless, she scouped the plate up and returned with à watered down version on the pseudo banh mi sandwich even described on the menu: no cucumbers, no onions, no cilantro. Of course, I complained because I planned à trip there Just for this sandwich. The owners handled the situation in the worst way by blaming me for the mix up and the poor qualité of their food. They were doing their thing before I got there so what did I have to do with any of it? I've had true banh mi sandwiches on many occasions and at many restaurants and theirs is not it by à long shot. IYKYK!!! There is à sign posted that reads "not responsible for wrong orders on carryout" Go figure. I requested and received à full refund and got out of there with à quickness NEVER TO RETURN.

Yelp
Aside from the food being absolutely delicious, the service was just as good and super quick! In addition to all that the restaurant was very nice. Not nice like fancy, but nice as in welcoming, homey and overall friendly. I'm adding this last bit even though most people couldn't care less about it, but the music was nice. What I liked most about the music was it was loud enough that you could hear it, but not so loud it was uncomfortable or annoying! All in all, I really enjoyed eating here, wouldn't mind going back and would definitely recommend going here!

Yelp
Had a great experience good food and atmosphere customer service was amazing and I will definitely be going back with My little Dog because they have a area just for Her

Yelp
Driving fast you will miss it, messing around on your phone you will miss it, people watching you will miss it. Now when you find it you will find a place with amazing food. Showstopper they serve breakfast all day, the custom drinks in the fridge are extremely tasty. They get your orders done quickly and after you go a few times they recognize you as a regular.

Yelp
This is a "go to" at least once a week for our family. Everything is so fresh and expertly prepared. My favorite is the Kogi Summer Roll, it's as beautiful as it is delicious! Great ambiance for dining in, nice outdoor space as well as indoor space for dining.

W J.

Yelp
The hot chicken sandwich at Long Beach Deli is truly a game-changer. The combination of the buttery brioche bun, spicy sriracha oil and mayo, and perfectly fried chicken breast is a winning combination. Move over Chick-fil-A and Popeyes, this sandwich is the new champion in town. I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Yelp
We stopped in and had our lunch at our local restaurant that offers a great selection of food choices. I had the General Tso made with pork which was super delicious the wife hanger favorite Bhan Mi poboy which she absolutely enjoys how they fixit. Our food was served hot to our table and cleared our table when we were done. The dining setting is relaxed and offers outdoor eating area. We'll definitely return to this restaurant.

Yelp
LOVE this place. The food is always fresh and on point. It is very popular, so either call ahead or be prepared for a wait at popular times. This is a local, family owned restaurant. There is seating inside and outside on the covered patio (with heaters). Our favorites are the banh mi poboy and shrimp tempura summer rolls, but you can't go wrong no matter what you choose.
google avatar

Sehee P.

Yelp
Love the poboys here :) recommend the spicy bahn mi. If you want to take to go then you can call in advance .

Maryann H.

Yelp
Busy on a Thursday night. Bhan Mi was very good!!! Steak sandwich was ok, small portion Wait staff is very nice

Marti G.

Yelp
Pretty decent restaurant. They have overall good food and service. I do agree with some of the negative reviews that they can be inconsistent at times, especially with the freshness of some items. For the most part, I avoid their dishes with rice because the rice tends to be mostly undercooked and unappealing. I DO recommend their po-boys and kimchi fries!

Scarlet T.

Yelp
This place has great food and friendly service! It's off the beaten path and the ambiance is nothing special, but the food is amazing!
google avatar

Rick O.

Yelp
Top notch local business dedicated to providing high quality food. Love everything we've had here
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
A relatively unknown gem. One of the few places on the Coast that never disappoints with the quality of the food. Best beer selection on the Coast, too!

Kate Z.

Yelp
Very nice small outdoor patio, excellent food, great service - definitely recommend! Loved the shrimp tempura summer rolls, and my 11 year old ate a crazy amount of egg rolls.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Always the freshest and best food! A variety of items to choose from, and the selection of beers and drinks are the best around!
google avatar

Bon A.

Yelp
I had the KOGI summer wrap and my husband had the Banh mi po boy. Both were THE BEST. I tasted his Banh mi and it is the best I've ever had. Don't pass up this place. It's delicious! They also have a great selection of craft beers and even large selection of cheesecake! They also have a gas station style fridge with various drinks to choose from.
google avatar

Colleen S.

Yelp
I always get the bahn mi summer roll when we go. It's so fresh and tasty! The bulgogi and general tsao are more favorites of ours.

Nigel M.

Yelp
The food was delicious and it was a nice spot to sit and enjoy our lunch. We actually went there 2 days in a row. We were in town for a softball game so this is the only time we've been here and I recommend it based on our experience.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious! One of my favorites on the gulf coast... craft beer selection is unmatched and the desserts are all amazing!
google avatar

Maryam M.

Yelp
Ordered right when they opened and I'm glad I did, they had back to back phone calls of orders. I was craving something salty and spicy and decided on the Korean BBQ Bulgogi special. The meat is packed with flavor! It has the perfect amount of spice, I didn't even need to add anymore heat to it. It comes with a crab Rangoon, which was delicious. Next time I come, I will order a big side of those bad boys. I also got the key lime pie which was creamy, tart and sweet. Customer service was great, I was in and out quickly. FYI If you are military and would like to use their discount, order when you get there, as it won't be applied to phone orders. Highly recommend you try this place, I'll be back!
google avatar

Ross H.

Yelp
I have to say it's been a year since I've ate at this establishment. The food I noticed was getting a little bland. We decided to try again and the food was fantastic. I would go as far as to say that the best I've had from there. As always the service is top notch.
google avatar

Nina A.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwiches, French fries, and vegetable summer rolls. The French fries were the only decent items. The Bahn Mi wasn't one at all. They put very salty pulled pork on a bun with a teaspoon of raw veggies. The Asian bbq seasoning and pickled vegetables that should make the sandwich delicious were not there. The summer roll was missing something- maybe cilantro? And had the disgusting addition of Mayo added. Mayo does not belong in a summer roll. And the peanut sauce was also very wrong and gross. Just don't put items on your menu that you don't know how to make. Very disappointing and a likely sign other menu items are gross too.
google avatar

Dianelys N.

Yelp
The food is good. I liked the spicy crab summer roll. But be ready, it is spicy. The service is good too. The people are nice. I love the outdoor patio. The ambiance with the fountain is great.

Ben K.

Yelp
We were in the area and were able to pop by on Christmas Eve and they were open! Had a spicy Korean Poboy and fries (really good fries btw) and a cold beer! Such a fun spot and the staff didn't seem bothered to be working on Christmas eve!
google avatar

Helen F.

Yelp
So good, we came back twice! I was craving Asian food and this hit the spot. Better spring rolls than most places in the SF Bay with a great selection of adult beverages that you can purchase as singles. My family all loved their meals.
google avatar

Sebina M.

Yelp
Kogi fries are a must try!!! Came here specifically to try this and it did not disappoint!

Blake P.

Yelp
Consistently amazing food, a nice atmosphere, and an, importantly, great beer selection. A "must stop" in Long Beach!
google avatar

Ellery D.

Yelp
My friend and I drove all the way there from New Orleans and it was 100% worth it. Such an unexpectedly cool place to eat. The craft beers are great, and very low priced to boot, and the entire menu looks worth trying. Respectably generous portions for a good deal. I got a plump po boy on perfect crispy French, and a s'mores (marshmallow chocolate flavored) beer. We enjoyed our food and beverages outside on their shaded patio. Would happily go back.

Noelle N.

Yelp
Love it !!!! So fresh so tasty lots of flavors going on! Don't miss this place . Will be returning soon!
google avatar

Allan P.

Yelp
Nice little place hard to find. We came from ocean springs, a bit of a drive. Took 1-10 and the Long Beach exit. Combo convenience store and restaurant. Recommend going in the fall or spring so you can sit outside. Excellent service and food. Ask for cocktail sauce and they will hook you up.
google avatar

Mitch G.

Yelp
Tops! Super food. You may think it's just a carry out. And the beer selection makes it a WAY great place to score some brews, but the food (and service) are absolutely supéreme. Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. The Korean and Chinese dishes are as good as the sandwiches Greek.
google avatar

Garrett P.

Yelp
Wow! I can't believe this is my first time trying this place. I walked in and obviously looked super lost and the hostess pointed me in the direction of the menus and told me about the specials. I settled on a Kogi wrap and Cajun fries. Absolutely 100% not disappointed and totally understand why this place has the reputation it does. The wrap was absolutely PACKED with flavor and Korean bbq chicken. Will definitely become a regular for lunch.

Sharon B.

Yelp
The older gentleman at register is not as friendly as the rest of the staff, everyone else was super nice . The food was great . They have a nice variety . The roast beef po boy was very good . Clean .
google avatar

Evelina B.

Yelp
Great food, particularly the spring rolls and Korean barbecue plates. Extensive beer selection. Good kids options too.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise! The rental where we stayed had a menu of this place so we gave it a shot. So glad we did. It was the best meal we had on our trip. I had the General Tso chicken (very spicy) and it was great! My wife had a roast beef PoBoy and it was perfect. If you come here, you have to get dessert but good luck picking it out. There are so many enticing options. We had key lime pie and peanut butter pie. Both were 10/10. Lastly, I need to give a shout out to the young ladies that work there as they were so kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
Was passing by and decided to stop in and try this place....so glad we did, the Hamburger dressed with American cheese and a side of Fries...$9.39 with tax...What a Great Taste & Price...New MUST STOP place on our monthly visits...Yummy
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cool hip place . Great selection of craft beer many I've never herd or seen. Just wanted a quick bite and the spring roll shrimp tempura hit the spot. Vegetables so crisp and fresh , shrimp perfectly cooked served with a dipping sauce that would make a shoe palatable. Kolgi fries served with cheese and a Korean style chicken delicious but to many for one person to eat. Nice patio for outside dinning would be a great spot For a cold brew one afternoon.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Best General Tso's on the coast. Creative French fries. Lots of great beers to choose from.
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Great good. Nice variety. Nice place to eat. Friendly staff. Clean place. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I hate myself for never having taken a photo of my food here because this place is delightful. Let me start out by saying, this is a super unique dining experience. The Deli has drinks for sale (both alcoholic and non) for you to have with your meal. They also have just an alcohol cooler with a wide variety of beers and more in case you want to stop in just to purchase a beverage. But their food is really where it's at. Think Mississippi meets Korea and Vietnam. It's mind-blowing. They have a bahn mi Po boy that is to die for. I also love all of their spring rolls. I have never gone wrong ordering at this deli. I have joined many a person in eating a meal at this deli and everyone loves it. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. They are happy to make recommendations to those who are unfamiliar with the variety of food they have on hand. There is dining inside although it is limited during times of COVID. I encourage you to skip the inside dining experience and eat on their beautiful outdoor, covered patio. They have fans to keep you cool in the summer times and you can bring your pup! This place is also a perfect spot for takeout. I truly can't recommend this deli enough! Try it out!
