A while back Hubby read an article about a place that offered "Kansas City Style Pizza". We are big fans of pizza and we've had Chicago Deep dish and extra thin and fold-y New York Pizza as well as all kinds of thin... hand tossed...wood-fired...artisan...honey-whole wheat crust..and on and on. We have our favorites, of course, but we just "like" pizza, period!
The Long-Bell Restaurant owners describe Kansas City Style as mostly to do with the crust they developed--crispy on the outside with a softer, chewy layer of dough inside, topped with your chosen ingredients, such as those which were put on my luncheon personal pan pie, then covered by the tomato sauce and the plentiful cheese sauce which was white, smooth, creamy on my Philly Cheese Steak pie today along with bell pepper, red onion and Philly steak.
Hubby & Sis shared a Supre which has pepperoni, Italian sausage, bell pepper, onion, olive, mushrooms.
Our other lunch companions chose a large variety of menu items such as a cheeseburger, Patty Melt, a Spicy Chicken Zing (griddled chicken breast, Swiss cheese, sliced pineapple, red onion, mayo and spicy Asian sauce on a bun). All sandwiches and burgers are served with a choice of side: Parmesan fries, garden or Caesar salad or house-made chips.
There is a Lunch Only Special menu that offers several of the best sandwiches and the personal pizza which also includes a side and a drink for a very attractive price. Long-Bell also has a very nice printed menu of specialty beers but disappointingly many on the current printed list are already 'unavailable'. I chose an interesting Cucumber Crush sour from 10 Barrel Brewing Co in Bend, OR. It took some getting used to and I'm not sure it's my particular taste profile, but it was fun to try something different.
Service was good and situated right across the street from the Longview campus of MCC, Long-Bell has a laid back, casual vibe. It's well worth a 2nd visit.
