First time here. My cousin comes here all of the time and has tried just about everything on the menu. She ordered the cauliflower. I’ve never had cauliflower cooked this way and must admit it is not my favorite way to eat it. I ordered the blackened fish tacos. Very delightful. My hubby had the soup and it came with fish crackers. Cute! Our waitress was very professional. She recommended the perfect beer for me. She knew her beers. We ate outside. It was a nice experience. I would definitely come here again!

Seated immediately, not super busy, inside and out looked great! The NA cocktail was unfortunately just a $10 glass of juice with a big ice cube, nothing special, didn’t have NA liquor or anything. The cheese curds with the apple sauce were amazing and unexpected though, 10/10! Fish and chips we had were very hot and looked delicious, but were mysteriously soggy. Knocked off several stars though because 1. The cup that we got a side of limes in had old food stuck to the rim, and 2. the service was just unfortunately non-existent. Long waits in between things, no water, when they did come by to ask how everything was it was as they were walking by, seemingly hoping we’d just give them a thumbs up and not ask for anything. After a while of our half finished plates sitting stacked at the end of the table our server came to grab them but never mentioned check or anything else. We watched other tables get a card reader brought to them to pay, but no one ever came to us with a check and we very easily could’ve just walked out. Of course we never would, but we did have to go up to the bar where our server was drying glasses to finally as for our check so we could leave.

Google
All the food was really good. I had the tinga tacos on their happy hour menu. Small portion but very tasty. I also had their “Nashville hot chicken sandwich”… this had great flavor and was delicious BUT this is not a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The flavor of this sandwich was more curry flavored and it was not “hot or spicy” at all. My husband tried it and said it tasted more like curry also and he isn’t a big curry eater … but that’s what flavor profile he landed on also (again delicious but needs to be renamed). I also had the Sunday morning cartoon drink, delicious a bit stronger than I expected but delicious. My little guy had pancakes and they were yummy!! I would come back for sure. ❤️

Had breakfast with a friend here post walk along the river and it was simply delicious!! Would recommend trying their breakfast options. Everything was so fresh and their house berry jam was so good!

We sat outside as it was a beautiful day. It seemed that the service was slow as it was very busy. Everyone enjoyed their food. Parking is horrible when it’s busy. I’d go back.

Google
Good food. Nice patio. Good service. We had the eggplant parmesan and the Tennessee chicken sandwich. Both were very good, done right and tasty. Will definitely be back.

Google
We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday late morning and we were able to get a seat even though it was busy. The service and atmosphere was really nice, but the food stole the show. I had Uncle Benny’s eggs and she had the French toast chicken stack, and both were delicious. It took us too long to get here, but we’ll definitely be back soon!

Google
Great food and very welcoming to our furry friend. Not only was she welcome, but we ordered a special treat off the menu for her. Our large table was served quickly and with friendly staff. The ambiance was also welcoming and a great place to gather.

Yelp
It had been about a decade since I'd been to the Longfellow Grill. My friend had suggested it, because he'd been there recently with another friend. I got the fish & chips, which was a mediocre dish, unfortunately. The fish wasn't crispy and had a weird taste to it. The fries were delicious, so it elevated the pleasure of eating the dish. The service was good and the coffee was great. I'll be back, and will get a different dish.

Yelp
So disappointed. Frequent customers of this place for years and tonight...ugh Wanted to celebrate a birthday for dinner for 5 people, but only reservation we could get was 4:15. We thought, great, we'll hang around outside as we wait for an outdoor table because they don't take patio reservations and being patio weather we expected a wait. No problem. The nice guy/host told us it would be a 20-30 min wait. We checked back after 40 mins and the nice host apologized and we continued to wait. After AN HOUR AND 20 mins. we were told by we assume the manager that they would not squish us into a 4 top, and the people at the 5 top that we were waiting for had been there for THREE HOURS already. And there's nothing he can do about it. Whatever...

Yelp
Great place for elevated comfort food. My friend and I had great service and food on a weekday evening. Walleye shrimp slider - 5/5. The slaw and capers on the slider were a great complement to the walleye shrimp cake. Brussels sprouts - 2/5. Had obviously been boiled first then deep fried later. The insides were bland and watery and most of the outlet leaves came off. Flavor was dine but couldn't overcome the squishy texture and lack of flavor of the center of the sprouts. Steak and pierogies - 4.5/5. Steak was tender and pierogis were perfectly crisp on the outside. The Asian-ish sauce on the steak didn't work for the dish, but great otherwise. Grilled salmon - 5/5. salmon was moist, mashed potatoes had great flavor, and asparagus was beautiful Carrot cake - 4.5/5. Great flavor and moist cake. I just wanted more texture from more coarsely grated carrots or nuts, or even pineapple or coconut. We had amazing service from Haley - she made great recommendations, checked in on us many times and anticipated our needs - refills, extra plates, to-go containers, etc)

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant with large indoor seating, but much better and nicer patio seating. We were a party of 5 on a Friday afternoon. Waited about 5 minutes for a table, and got a great shady spot outside. Friendly and quick service, good wine and beer selections, and a lot of food options to satisfy all tastes in our party. Lobster bisque was amazing! Recommend a cup as it is very rich and the bowl was just a lot for one person. The tuna salad was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the portion was quite large. Another in our party got the chicken and waffles and licked the plate clean. Everything came out at the right temperature and our server checked on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. Great spot for lunch or dinner. Just make sure to get a reservation or call ahead to be sure you can get in as it gets busy all the time.

Yelp
Longfellow Grill has some pluses and minuses. The ambiance is pleasant enough, both inside and out, parking is easy (as is access to the nearby bike trail), and they have a pretty wide range of items on their menu. They also have a good drink list with lots of craft beers. However, there are definitely opportunities for improvement as well. The only dietary restriction they really take seriously is GF...there aren't very many vegan, dairy free, egg free, or options for other common allergies and intolerances. While I have always been able to find something to eat here, I also feel like my choices are very limited. Additionally, when I came with my family (total of 6 people), the only seating options on the patio were in the sun; they would not slightly adjust one of the tables to put us in the shade, even though there were very few people eating on the patio. So, while Longfellow is ok, I'd really like to see them offer more options for more dietary restrictions, and also to be more accomodating of seating requests and not expect larger parties to sit in the sun.

Yelp
We started with an order of cheese curds for the table. Holy smokes -- I haven't had a ton of cheese curds in my life, but these blew the ones I have had out of the water. The breading was light which added a crispy coating but allowed the flavorful cheese inside to take center stage. I very easily could have eaten an entire plate, but I knew I had an entree on the way. For said entree, I went with the basic cheeseburger, but it was anything but basic. The meat was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of pink. The seasoning amplified the beefy flavor and was complemented by the American cheese. The side of sweet potato fries were delicious. They were cooked perfectly -- crispy yet soft on the inside, so the sweet potato flavor was very present. The chipotle peanut pesto aioli that accompanied the fries had such a unique flavor and texture. I expected it to be a relatively standard chipotle-infused aioli, but it was so much more. It had an almost grainy texture like a stone-ground mustard or hummus and was accentuated but the notes of peanuts and pesto. It was one of the most unique-tasting dips I've ever had. The service was fantastic and I liked the casual atmosphere inside. I would definitely return to explore more of the menu.

Yelp
I've never had a disappointing experience here. A favorite place to bring our out of town guests.

Yelp
Nice selection of GF options! Diverse menu that should accommodate a group of folks. Great drinks (including ciders on tap). Wish you could get reservations for outside but I guess it's hard for restaurants. We went to the bar & ordered but then had to close out the bill b4 going to our table. Most places now can transfer bar tab so it's Just one bill (FYI, this creates issues w/ expense accounts to have them separate & itemized!)

Yelp
Ambiance: we sat outside on the patio which was kept fairly simple and standard! Umbrellas for coverage, allowed pets, and furniture was basic. Nothing particularly memorable, but was good enough! Service: our waitress was very kind and checked in once to make sure everything was going well m. She offered substitutions whenever dietary restrictions were present, and was overall a great host Food: I ordered the French toast chicken stack and substituted the gravy for hollandaise sauce and it was incredible! Super hearty and filling and the chicken was breaded and cooked to perfection.

Lauren P.

Yelp
We popped by here on a sunny day for some drinks and sweet potato fries. Everything was fantastic. The sweet potato fries are delicious-- the sauce was interesting. It was good, yet I couldn't quite get myself to like it. It was a peanut aioli that was a little chunky with some pepper undertones. Luckily, the fries themselves are so yummy I didn't need it! The rest of the menu looks delicious-- I'll need to be coming back for breakfast! Great patio for outdoor seating as well.

Yelp
Best lobster bisque in the twin cities! Service is always great with attention to detail.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite breakfast spots. Anything we have ordered is absolutely delicious. There are indoor and outdoor options. Lots of seating. You can make a reservation online as well which we recommend for weekend mornings. There is a parking lot attached to the building but it fills up quickly. There is an option for cauliflower rice to substitute rice for a healthier option- highly recommended and still tastes great! The pumpkin pancakes were a special in the fall, it was amazing and we really hope that they bring it back! The chocolate cake is one of the best in town, we get it for breakfast every time!

Yelp
After we had to give up a planned nearby non bike friendly restaurant, we found this place to be super bike friendly and wrapped up a group long ride with full satisfaction in our tummies! I am amazed by the presentation and the number of healthy choices here. I'm active so would always like to eat hearty food without low quality calories. I really love the spinach frittata I tried. It's fresh and yummy, not greasy at all. The Brie and jam had a nice touch unlike elsewhere overpowering density usually kill the overall taste. The breakfast burrito is ginormous and enticing! Even I didn't get it this time, I want to have it after my next 50 mile ride. There seem a lot more food and drinks to explore here. Calling all the foodie/bike riders, you may easily leave your bike on their lawn and enjoy your nice meal next to the Mississippi River. I think I just nailed a nice place for a post bike ride brunch. Definitely come back for more.

Yelp
Longfellow is one of my all-time favorite brunch spots in the Twin Cities area. I have tried their farmers breakfast, breakfast burritos, and Nashville Fried Chicken and have been impressed with everything! I am particularly fond of their farmers breakfast as I am someone who loves a variety of savory options when it comes to breakfast, and I feel like this dish had all of them. I've had no bad experiences in terms of service, and all of our waiters/waitresses have been excellent. The host/hostess always makes me feel like me getting seated is a priority and I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I personally love sitting outside as it is right by the river so you get an amazing view. Autumn is especially beautiful as they have many trees in the area and it is gorgeous to look at. Parking can be a bit tricky since their lot is pretty small and the surrounding streets are pretty busy but if you go at the right time, it isn't too bad. I overall highly recommend the spot, mainly for brunch, but there dinner and lunch meals are good as well.

Zac M.

Yelp
Great restaurant!!! Never had a bad meal. Wait staff is attentive, fast and friendly. Our favorites are the steak and perogies and walleye dinner.
google avatar

Cole S.

Yelp
I loved the breakfast options that are offered all day! The service was great and the patio is perfect for a nice warm summer day.

Yelp
I had one of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences recently. My server Hailey was so kind and knowledgeable of the menu. One of the most fun times I've had at a restaurant in a while. The "features" were delicious. The stuffed pork chop was an unexpected favorite at the table. We also had the Lobster Bisque- yum! I will definitely be back soon- especially if Hailey is working! I came on a Sunday morning and although the place was jam packed, the food came out quick and was piping hot! Place was understanding and very helpful to allergies and dietary restrictions of the table. See you soon Longfellow!

Yelp
Loved this place! We visited for dinner and the first thing we noticed was the great outdoor seating. It was a little too cool for me to enjoy it, but now that I have a student at the U, I'll be visiting here more than this time. There were 3 of us for dinner and we had no reservation so we scored a high top table at the bar. There were plenty of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and we were all happy with those. Hubby and son #4 opted for burgers while I chose the breakfast option. It came with a salad which was fresh, but I couldn't get over the salad with eggs and hash browns. Lecture me about it later. Since we were seated int he bar, the bartender was our server. He did a great job of juggling us and the people seated at the bar. He had some great suggestions for appetizers as well as drinks. We will make it a point to stop in here on our next visit. I want to sit on that patio!
google avatar

Roxanne T.

Yelp
Patio seating was lovely and we were fortunate enough to be seated immediately!! Brussel sprouts appetizer was phenomenal! Kids pancakes were tasty. Meatloaf portion was huge and good. Grilled salmon was good. The grilled asparagus on the side was very tasty! All our drinks were terrific! Our server, Tyler, was friendly and gave great recommendations.
google avatar

AJ S.

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday with a friend just yesterday, and we had such a nice time. Our waiter was kind and attentive, the food was delicious (omgggg the pancakes were AMAZING), and the price was incredibly reasonable. Will for sure be back!

Barbara S.

Yelp
Excellent service, friendly yet professional staff and yummy food. Nice atmosphere to boot!
google avatar

Brock S.

Yelp
Huge (all-day) breakfast selection, plenty of easier non-entree eats that are reasonably priced but all created with more care than a neighborhood pub would. Even though the Nashville Chicken Sandwich excuses itself of not having too mucus kick ("MN-nice"), it's still enough to feel even for a spice-lover like myself. The chicken and seasoning melt together leaving the bun to soak it up so that you want every last bite. Large patio make this an excellent choice for Al fresco dining even during peak hours (:20-25 wait tops). Great service as well that's both quick and friendly. Parking is usually easy enough along Lake St but they make biking easy with multiple bike racks.
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast served all day is a huge win! Longfellow Grill has an excellent staff that plays a big role of making the entire dining experience wonderful from the hosts to the bartenders to the servers to the bussing crew. Every employee is attentive to your needs and is super considerate when it comes to clearing dishes. They take reservations or typical walk ins which contains bar, table or booth seating. The dining allows for natural bright sunlight due to all the big windows. In the summer, there is a beautiful outdoor patio as well. I recently went for brunch and it was so delicious that I went again the next day. Fantastic options: pancakes, breakfast bowl, anything from the Blue Plate "special" seasonal menu (be sure to peek as options rotate) as well as the iced matcha latte. I appreciate that they serve full-proof cocktails, low-proof cocktails and no-proof cocktails on the menu. I opted for the mock-tail "The Damn Jam" and it was fresh, colorful and flavorful. Enjoy!
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Landed two amazingly friendly, enthusiastic and charming waiters. These ones happened to serve us in the course of our dining. Our own designated waiter was more formal and task- oriented but that's okay. Food: had the breakfast bowl and sweet potato fries- excellent 10/10 Ambience: 8/10 truly preferred outdoors seating.. indoors seemed rather frenzied, perhaps even a little too loud for conversation. The waitlist goes quite fast as well so that's a great bonus even on a busy weekend. Service: 8/10 as I said will largely depend on the person Overall: greatly recommend
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
Happy Hour! Does not disappoint! $ off of drinks and apps! Since this restaurant is a little more spendy than others, it's a good time to visit! We both enjoyed our soups (it was a cold, rainy day and they warmed us up). The Margherita Flatbread was alright but I'm not ordering it again. Our server, Joe rocked our LG experience! I can't wait to bicycle here and sit out on the patio and enjoy one of their Longfellow Bellinis!
google avatar

M S.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for a while to meet with friends. They have a nice patio and indoor seating is comfy. Staff are funny and efficient. I will say they have off days here and there where staff are clearly overwhelmed. They offer a nice variety menu including kids plates. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks... all a block from River Road. Parking lot is SMALL so street parking is open in the area.

Nikki L.

Yelp
Yummy in my tummy, great service, chill cool atmosphere Definitely check it out, worth every penny
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
I've had many good meals here at Longfellow grill, however, this was not one of them. Flavor was there, but 14.50 for the eggs Benedict with this much ham? I don't think so. One paper thin slice of ham that doesn't even cover the English muffin? Pretty damn cheap is what I call it. Hollandaise sauce container for comparison.
google avatar

Kolin C.

Yelp
I had a Traditional breakfast and it was great food, The service was subpar. The host was kind with greeting and seating us but our waiter wasn't the most attentive, but nonetheless not the worst breakfast I've had in St. Paul. Bonus points for the patio and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
I love the variety of foods they have here! It's not too much where I'm overwhelmed but it all looks so good that I try to switch it up. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful when I go. I love sitting outside here on nice days. My favorite meal has to be this chipotle-like bowl. It's super delicious and I love coming back to here for it!
google avatar

Yelp
I moved out of Mpls about a decade ago, when I come back to town, this is ALWAYS a stop. Today I had the salmon and eggs, with English muffin and breakfast salad. Fantastic Highly suggest you go.
google avatar

Amy J.

Yelp
OH MY!! Tonight we stopped here for a well deserved date night (hello pandemic!) and it was SO good. I got the steak and Pierogi and it was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and so juicy. I didn't have any tough spots in it at all. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
When we want a good Sunday brunch with good service and food, we hit up Longfellow Grill. In the summer, the patio is fun and BUSY. Be sure to make reservations! I enjoy seeing the teamwork and staff are friendly, attentive, and always willing to got the extra mile. As a former restaurant manager, I can appreciate a team that works together, the manager included. I usually get the Farmer's Breakfast. Luckily they let me skip the caramelized onions. They also do a great eggs benny. Bloody Marys? I think yes. It also is a nice place to go for a dinner out. A great place to meet up with friends or family. Something for everyone!
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
I am so sorry Longfellow grill but I am going to have to knock you down a star. I love the patio and the food but the service the last two times, over a year apart due to Covid, has been deplorable. Laughable. The first time when our server was MIA for a very long time it was a sad occasion because it was a beautiful night and we would've stayed longer, had dessert, and another cocktail but we seriously could not even find her. Most recently, once again, a beautiful day on the patio and our server was horrid. He had no idea about libations or what kind of specialty drinks they had, he could answer no questions, and when they forgot my bloody Mary and I inquired, he told me that somebody had stolen it from the bar. Where's my BLOODY Bloody Mary??? I eventually received it. Our food, was good, however, it did not come out at the same time and there was only two of us. The whole experience was odd once again. Will I return? Of course I will. It's right in my hood and the patio is amazing but Come on.... Get some Better Servers...
google avatar

MK A.

Yelp
My family and I love this restaurant! It's an upscale menu in a bar with outside or inside seating, at Lake Street and the Mississippi River! Order the Brussel Sprout appetizer! It's roasted brussel sprouts with toasted sliced almonds and goat cheese, and is yummy! We also recommend breakfast (all day), salads, tacos, a carnitas bowl, and many other eclectic menu items, all done with flare and very tasty! Or just sit on the patio and have a drink while you listen to live music with your friends.

Joseph B.

Yelp
service was lousy we asked the waitress if she could ask the bartender if he knew a certain drink she refused saying he's much to busy, that's part of your job lady. I accidentally spilled my water on the table she made fun of me but didn't have the courtesy to bring a bar cloth to wipe it up we sat with a wet table throughout dinner. she didn't bring us our utensils and napkins we had to ask another server to help. with terrible service like this we won't be back.

Betsy W.

Yelp
We came here Saturday morning . Staff was very friendly , cute decor , I got the Nashville chicken French toast it was supposed to come with a over easy egg but upon my request got scrambled , it was spicy , greasy and bad flavor to the gravy I took only a couple bites . The waitress was nice and they offered a different meal I declined as i am admittedly a spice wimp . I was rather out off they still charged the full price . Knowing I didn't eat it .
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I've been to the Longfellow Grill a couple of times to meet colleagues for a mid day work meeting. I have enjoyed the experience each time. Parking is usually easy, although I typically end up street parking despite the parking lot. Food is good. They also have cocktails so it's a great place to meet with lots of options depending on purpose of your visit. The patio looks great, overlooking the River (although on a rather busy street), however, I haven't sat on the patio yet. The booths allow some privacy and quietness for holding meetings and conversation. I will definitely keep coming back.

Marin R.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch with my mom. The restaurant was cozy with a modern vibe. Karly was our server and she was very attentive and made sure that all of our dietary restrictions were met. We split the baja bowl, and it was just enough for 2 people, and the chocolate cake for dessert was the perfect way to end our meal. Would recommend to anyone looking a quick bite or to celebrate a special occasion!

Yelp
Dinner on a Monday night hit the spot. Delish drinks--my Goldeneye was a lemony, refreshing cocktail. Cheese curd appetizer was gone in a flash because no one could resist just one more bite. I picked the steak & pierogies. Perfectly cooked medium rare beef & flavorful pierogies with plenty of crispy fried onions. You wouldn't be sad if you chose the parm-encrusted grilled cheese my niece wolfed down either. And you'd better save room for the peanut butter pie thoughtfully garnished with a crumbled Butterfinger after it was enrobed in chocolate ganache.
google avatar

Bolivar R.

Yelp
Very good. Quick Friendly service and well priced for diner food. Went here on a Monday after holiday and we'll worth the visit.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
4 years ago I'd say 5 stars but they changed their sweet potatoes fries and nothing has been the same...sad about the good quality during my last few visits :(
google avatar

Alan P.

Yelp
I just ate in their dining room. I had to ask them to wipe our table of dust and debris after we sat dowm. I ordered the Cubana, but they were out of that. I then ordered the Blue Plate Burger, medium rare, and got a dried well done burger on a bun that was so dry that it was crumbling apart. I pointed this out to the server and no compensation was offered. This is my last trip to the Longfellow!
google avatar

Noemi A.

Yelp
My family and I came here for dinner this past Friday! Once we got home we all started vomiting and diarrhea. FOOD POISONING We're still recovering from it. Our server was great though! We unfortunately won't be returning though.
google avatar

Bri M.

Yelp
We stopped by on a whim and I'm glad that we did. They were so kind to split our plates up so that I could scoop the gnocchi right into my mouth. It was VERY delicious. Try the chipotle peanut aioli with sweet potato fries!

Julie N.

Yelp
This is a very good restaurant. The food was tasty and the service was superb ! I would have given five stars if we didn't struggle to back out our car in the parking lot. It is a very small lot made horrible by people parallel parking behind the legitimate parking places/along the apartment doors. I don't understand why that area isn't marked 'No Parking' since parking there blocks entrances to apartment and makes it very difficult to back out of a legitimate spot. I'm surprised no cars get backed into.
google avatar

Bansari S.

Yelp
Always a great time! This is one of my favorite places to brunch! I used to come here in college, and I moved away, but came back and came here for a celebratory post- engagement brunch! Always lovely, drinks were great, food was excellent, and staff is always great! And of course... some of the best cheese curds in town

Went for brunch on a Sunday. Tons of outdoor seating. You can tell they're getting creative. I go to free house a lot downtown and the menu seemed to be pretty much exactly the same. I know they're both in the blue plate restaurant group, but I wasn't expecting an exact replica. This didn't both me too much because the food was delicious. Enough to fill you up but not to leave you so stiff you need to be rolled out. I'd go back for sure.

Yelp
We decided to stop in for dinner at this super-popular neighborhood spot. We were continuing our summer quest for the best patio for outdoor dining in the twin cities. And while they do have a big, nice patio and big diner-inspired food at this place, the service on the Tuesday night we were there was VERY underwhelming. It started with an overly optimistic wait time given by the host - TIP: USE YELP TO GET ON THEIR WAIT LIST BEFORE YOU ARRIVE - then continued with long waits for a server, slow drink service, and long waits for food. I ordered a 2nd drink that actually arrived AFTER I was done eating - although to her credit, the server didn't charge me for it. And the water glasses were never topped off or refilled - one of my personal litmus tests on service. The food was fine, but nothing special. I had the chicken roulade based on the servers recommendation which was rather bland and not all that visually appealing. Similarly, the avocado flatbread also seemed flavorless. Perhaps we caught them on an off night - people seem to love this place online, but for me on that night, it was just "ok".
