Boston Coffee News | Eater Boston

"Operating inside Cambridge’s Lamplighter Brewing since the brewery opened, Longfellows was known for inventive coffees, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches; owner Alisha Fowler closed the cafe on June 2 as she relocated to New Jersey, marking the end of a partnership with the brewery that had grown from a small coffee-and-doughnut start into a larger staff and loyal community." - Eater Staff

Longfellows, the Cafe Inside Lamplighter Brewing, Will Close in June | Eater Boston

"A daytime counter inside Lamplighter Brewing in Cambridge known for inventive coffees, pastries, cold brew, and breakfast sandwiches, this small operation was launched by owner Alisha Fowler when the brewery opened in late 2016. Initially intended to focus on coffee, espresso, doughnuts, and waffles, it expanded over the years to a larger staff, a broader pastry and food selection, and a loyal local following. Fowler is closing the operation as she relocates to New Jersey, with the cafe ceasing service on June 2; in the final weeks the team is hosting farewell events including swag sales, off‑menu specials, yoga in the taproom, and a last Bagel Friday with Bagelsaurus." - Dana Hatic

This place is so impressive. They make their own breads and pastries and syrups, they have creative smoothies and lattes, great omelets and sandwiches - if you get a breakfast sandwich you need to get it on their foccacia!! I'm very picky when it comes to cafes and this is high on my list. They even have a cash discount.

Color me impressed! This delightful coffee shop has a very hole-in-the-wall vibe as you walk in, but we were blown away by the service and options available! The breakfast and pastries were made it house (and delicious) and the drinks were perfection; I got a matcha date smoothie and others in my group enjoyed cold brew and a chagaccino. Best side of the road stop we could've made, highly recommend 🙌

First time visit, stopped in on my way to a car service appointment. Drip coffee was excellent (smooth, flavorful, and perfect temp). Also got an egg and cheese on a roll, which was expertly made and delicious. Bonus points for having cheddar cheese. I wish this place was closer to me!

Impressive experience To-Go Order! Everything was served hot and delicious. The Espresso Con Panna was on point, and the fresh bagels and breads were fantastic. I tried the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Bagel as well as the Hangover sandwich smashed potatoes served on the side (not pictured). Would love to check out the inside next time!

Honestly my bad guys and gals, this one did not hit for me. I like myself a local coffee spot, but this was an incredibly mediocre experience for a high price tag. $4 small drip coffee. $14.45 3-egg omelet, no bread included. Bread was $1.75 extra. I actually didn't realize until the end that my order for the toppings was wrong. Ordered the onions and spinach. Got onion and tomato. Eh whatever, shit happens, you know? But the caramalized onions never ever saw a lick of heat. Straight raw onion. Eggs were cooked hard as a hell. Coffee was alright. Service was whatever. Couldn't complain if the total bill was like $14-15 total but it was $20 for a whatever small coffee and a mediocre 3-egg omelet in a tight spot without that hipster vibe/downtown location where I would expect there to be a bigger price tag. I dunno, I would definitely hit the bagel shop across the street next time instead of this spot when I'm back in the area.

Very quaint and quirky place. Service was quick and the space is very inviting. Had a walnut banana muffin which was perfect! And the avocado on focaccia toast was delish. I added a friend egg on top and it brought it all together. I also had a veggie sandwich with salad and that was also very yummy. Coffee was good but nothing too out of the ordinary. And since I ate in would have loved to get my food in actual plates and not to go containers. If you’re in the area stop by.

So many drink options! Excellent coffee, you can customize in every way possible. They offer lots of recommendations if you're overwhelmed and can't make a decision. Servers are always patient, friendly and knowledgeable. Scones are good and the breakfast wraps are the absolute best. The only two drawbacks are that it is quite pricey, and it takes an awfully long time for food orders. I would get breakfast here every morning but it's at least a 15 min wait if you order any food, and there's almost always a line to order. Overall, it's a very good coffee shop and provides an excellent alternative to just the usual Dunkin and Starbucks in the area.

Tiny, intimate and great folks attending to your order! So my judgement on atmosphere is all about the small size. Go and relax when not busy!
