I had spent the week working in Jersey so we decided to extend my stay and my Wife to join me for a long weekend. We thought Longueville Manor would be ideal, supposedly one of the best hotels on the Island, how disappointed we were! The room was dated smelt musky and just lacked being 5 star, a plastic kettle for example. The bed was uncomfortable and we asked for the mattress to be changed, it was to a slightly better one but far from the quality and comfort you would expect. We ate there on the first night, it was a rushed affair, the staff were not trained to the level expected with a desire to rush everything even after we requested a break, we were all done by 8.30, not bad when we sat down at 7.30! The wine cellar is extremely impressive but certainly not matched by the restaurant’s level of service. Breakfast was worse sending back my porridge numerous times as they seemed to think it should be served like a soup! Despite the 5 star price they still charged us for breakfast as we dared to book through a booking agent. This place needs investment in both the rooms and the training of its staff if it wants to be 5 star. During our 3 night stay we didn’t see anyone from management despite complaining about the bed, extraordinary. My Wife received a weak email from them after our stay, prompted by us telling the receptionist how our stay had been, we shared the above with him. The garden and pool area are lovely and the only person who really went the extra mile was Brian on the front door. Bravo, the rest could learn a lot from him.
