"If you’re looking for good Taiwanese food in Edmonds (or anywhere north of Seattle), Looking for Chai has you covered. The three spiced chicken (often called three-cup chicken elsewhere) is at the top of the chef’s specials list for good reason. The menu includes plenty of other Taiwanese classics, mini hot pots, and tea drinks — including bubble tea, of course." - Jay Friedman

A good hangout spot. Good variety of tea and drinks; food was always tasty with a decent portion. Our favorites are the spicy hotpot and the popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was very crispy and well seasoned, juicy pieces of meat. The spicy hotpot comes with six slices of beef, cubes of duck blood cake, fish balls, crab sticks, tofu and mushrooms. The dipping sauces served with it were exceptionally yummy. Taiwanese dishes like water spinach with lamb are very authentic as well. It is a bit pricey but acceptable with the quality of food.

The fried stinky tofu was awesome!! It tastes exactly like stinky tofu from night market in Taiwan. The boba tea was fantastic too. It was so pleasing to have Taiwanese food and drink in one place. Recommend this store to all the taiwanese and whoever love Taiwanese food. Chicken rice (actually more like a chicken and minced pork rice) was too sweat so we did not finish it.

This is a second time I ordered food from this restaurant. This time I ordered Steamed Chicken Leg with Scallion sauce Bento and Shrimp Stir fried Noodles with Satay sauce. I like both dishes I ordered. I definitely will explore other dishes in the future. I'll give four stars for now. I'll come back and update my review in the future.

Did a Costco run and decided that I was craving Taiwanese food and found this place! The perfect combo of my favorite tea house: Yifang and yummy Taiwanese food. I wanted to order everything on the menu but decided to order the 五根暢旺 which is spicy duck blood and intestine pot (if you like bold, spicy flavorful dishes… that go well with steamed rice… this is it) i grew up eating this dish and loved it here! Very authentic. Also ordered the watercress sautéed with garlic so good, the king oyster mushroom fried with egg yolk (haven’t had this dish in a long time- really yummy…) and of course something on the menu caught my eye… the oyster pancake, quintessential Taiwanese night market food. Will definitely come back for more Taiwanese goodies… and oh of course can’t leave without grabbing tea from yifang… got the grapefruit lemon green tea with aiyu jelly. My favorite.

Purely Chinese/Taiwanese food. Pretty ok. Food and service is not the best but better than OK. Parking maybe an issue when in rush hour. Overall I would say 4.5.

I have to admit, this is one of the best Taiwanese restaurants I've been to I. A while, especially due to the relatively low cost and large tasty portions. The menu is pretty much based on classic items, meat and rice plates, noodles and mini hot pot if wanted. Because they're sharing the space with Yi Fang, they also have a variety of drinks.

Super yummy Taiwanese food~~ Been missing Taipei food and this really hit the spot - authentic and delicious, and now there's an YiFang Tea shop inside too for all your boba and fruit tea needs, including tea blends from where my grandparents come from in Taiwan 🥰 The water spinach stir fried with lamb was exceptionally good- so nostalgic of small street vendor foods. Also the serving size for an order of white rice is very big, definitely larger than most Asian restaurant portions! The fried pork chop bento was just like the standard Taiwan lunch boxes, and very filling. The duck blood and intestine spicy stew was yummy too, and the oyster pancake was just perfectly crispy on the edges with the perfect amount of sauce and juicy oysters. Staff were also so friendly and gave us good recommendations and checked up on us. Definitely a great Taiwanese spot :)

This is the best Taiwanese restaurant in Seattle area! I love their New Year specials, they were incredibly amazing!

Yelp
Went looking for Yifang fruit tea. Looks like it's been replaced by their own house made tea. I got the black lemon tea and it was pretty solid. They advertise that they use only fresh ingredients and real tea, fruit and milk and it did taste just like that. 3 star review because my cousin ordered a Taro milk tea and it was extremely chunky and overall just okay- wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a classic purple colored Taro milk tea

Yelp
Firstly, FYI that there are two Looking for Chai and they are owned by different folks. This location specifically added Taiwanese Kitchen to its name to differentiate. Amongst Taiwanese groups, they say this is the more legit location. Also, they eliminated(?) YiFang Fruit Tea. They do sell drinks but not under the franchise. Outside, the YiFang sign still hangs, but no Looking For Chai sign, to confuse or attract would-be diners or tea drinkers. Anyway, we wander in at normal dinner time and sat shortly after. No wait except the time to set up the table. Service is a step above what I call efficient-swift. I asked several questions, and he slowed down to answer. The décor is basic or utilitarian. They are around the corner from the very large Ranch 99 complex, so parking is plentiful. This visit is from March this year. The Food: 刈包 Taiwanese Pork Burger (2 Pcs), $10.95 - 5 Stars This pair is very meaty and filling. For the lighter appetite, this is easily a meal. There is a good mixture of protein and pickled veggies, very classically done. 炸臭豆腐 Taiwanese Stinky Tofu, $12.95 - 3 Stars This is a love it or hate it for many. For the connoisseur, the stinkier, the better. Alas, not stinky enough. The stink comes from the fermentation, which takes time, most places couldn't be bothered and/or doesn't want to scare the adjacent dinners (legit reason). Anyway, this is fried tofu with a light fermentation, and an excellent dollop of pickled veggies, which was the saving grace of this plate. 椒麻脆皮雞 Crispy Chicken with Special Spicy Sauce, $14.50 - 5 Stars This isn't just popcorn chicken. This is crispy fried chicken with a bang-up savory, delicious, spicy sauce. The waiter said this is amongst their most popular dish. Yum! 鐵板牛排 Sizzling Steak (combo sauce), $18.95 - 4 Stars A steak that is not overcooked in a Chinese restaurant. Priceless. The sauce is a combo mushroom and black pepper. It's a healthy appetite dish. The steak is a bit fatty, though. 綜合莓果冰沙 Mixed Berry Smoothies, $6.80 - 3.5 Stars After I had a sip, I felt silly ordering it. It is basically frozen berries and blended, which I make at home, too. But I wanted it in the dead of winter for some crazy reason!

Yelp
I'll get to the point and say that this place serves some pretty yummy food. The sizzling pork chop was delicious. I liked the black pepper sauce. The oyster omelette was pretty good. I've also had their bentos and thought they were pretty good. I was kind of disappointed by their popcorn chicken though. I thought it was a little dry. Overall, I think this place is pretty solid.

Yelp
I tried this place last year with my mom for the first time and it has quickly become one of our favorites. We've tried a bunch of dishes and they've all been good. Everything is seasoned well, not overly salty or greasy. Some of our favorites have been the beef with water spinach, basil eggplant, stewed pork over rice, and the Chinese chives with pork. We've also gotten the fried chicken and pork belly bao buns. They also have great bubble tea. I like the house milk tea with boba and sea salt cream 50% sweet. My mom grew up in China and this is her favorite restaurant in Bellevue. The service has also always been good even though they can get busy.

Annabelle K.

Yelp
I've never had such dry overcooked popcorn chicken in my life. The flavor is there but for whatever reason it's so dry I can barely chew and swallow it. I would recommend they switch to chicken thigh meat and fry them 2 minutes less. I also ordered the pork chop bento and had the same problem. Overpriced, dry and chewy...no juice or moisture whatsoever. I miss the popcorn chicken from tapioca express. I'm still on the hunt for decent Taiwanese popcorn chicken north of Seattle.

Eleana S.

Yelp
It was a busy day, so we decided to get the chicken popcorn bento with rice, and Luke opted for the crispy chicken with spicy sauce and rice bento! Both bentos come with salad, mushrooms, tomatoes, and for Luke, scrambled eggs and extra salad. While it's convenient to have it as takeout, I think dining in at the restaurant would enhance the flavors. I'm also curious about trying their other meals next time.

Nina H.

Yelp
For the most part, the food is still really great, but the one time I DoorDashed a meal, they forgot one order of popcorn chicken and I had to call them to cancel it from my bill. My go-to's are always the beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken and really any of the bentos. I recently tried the fried chicken on the grill with noodles, vegetables, and an egg - that was very tasty but too heavy. Overall, I think you get your bang for your buck here, large portions and decent pricing!

Thomas L.

Yelp
We usually come here for the yifang boba but this time we wanted to give the dining restaurant another try. It was considerably better than the last time we dined in about a couple years ago. I got the stone hot plate and my wife got the beef noodle soup. Both were quite delicious. We also got popcorn chicken and pork intestines. Both appetizers were as we expected and great portions for the price. I would definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area looking to eat some Taiwanese food.

Yelp
Excellent food and boba! Fried Squid Balls-Perfectly fried with basil and salt and pepper. Moist and bouncy on the inside with a good flavor. Popcorn Chicken-Crispy and with the same basil as the fried squid balls. I didn't get any spicy on it and it was already flavorful. The pieces can be of varying sizes but they were all cooked well with a good crunch. Brown Sugar Pearl Oolong Tea Latte-I didn't realize that you couldn't change the sweetness or ice level on this, or else I would have gotten a different drink. The drink was too sweet for my tastes, even after the ice melted. The boba was cooked perfectly. Wonderfully toothsome with a good texture inside and out. I wouldn't get this drink again but I would get one of their milk tea drinks! I will come back to try their other dishes and drinks. Service was quick and efficent.

Larry L.

Yelp
I should've double checked on Yelp, but Looking for Chai is located in the same place as Yifang, with Yifang's sign being the one you can see from the parking lot. The lot is shared with 99 Ranch and all the other restaurants in the plaza so there are plenty of parking spots but it is also extremely busy. The space inside feels small, but it wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. I was very content with the beef noodle soup and black pepper sizzling pork. Their bitter melon with salted egg was also great. I think the food here is even better than the food at their Bellevue location.

Ann L.

Yelp
We usually head up to Canada for this dish. The flavor is just like Canada , the tofu is crispy and stinky which goes so well with the garlic sauce and pickled cabbage. So happy that they still serve it here.

Yelp
Oh no! What happened!? Did I miss anything? I haven't been here in a while and I have to say, I was very disappointed and am thinking of skipping some of what used to be very good such as this bento. I took a bite of my rice and it was very disappointing I couldn't do a second time. The rice tasted old and mushy. Usually, rice is the most promising and it is what make the side dish pop up and be unforgettable. A good bowl of rice carry out the rest of the meal and make the whole experience more satisfying. I was dumbfounded and deceived. The rest went downhill. What used to be memorable and enjoyable let me down. I should have settled for a bowl of soup. I should have ordered my once favorite beef noodle soup. I will not order the bento again unless they bring back some good quality and well cooked rice. Oh no, I'm not doing that. Also, their menu does not offer anymore options of vegetables. They no longer serve any vegetables dishes. I think they might have lost a handful of customers to be honest. Thai can be a deal breaker bcs this place used to be always packed and had brewer service, better staff who checked on us every now and then to see if we are enjoying our meals. So, all in all experience? Terrible and dissatisfying. There are rooms for improvement as well as cleanliness. The place have boxes and storages all over. I sued to love coming here and looked forward to sitting to eat and be merry. Not this time. What happened?? No more Ying Fang? What did I miss!?

Yelp
It's been a while since I visit Looking for Chai. Came here recently for a quick dinner with a friend. Service are friendly! My friend order one of the spicy Taiwanese beef mini hot pot and I got one of the Black pepper sauce Fried Chicken with noodle and a fried pork chop to share for our appetizer. The food came out pretty quickly. The appetizer was good. I got my food before my friend did. So, I started munching it down already. I would say that it tasted pretty plain the chicken and the noodle itself. Without the black pepper sauce, it would taste like it was done without any seasoning into it. If that is the case, they should have added more sauce to my dish. My friend got his mini hot pot. Portion was decent but a lot of vegetable. It was spicy at all. Tasted like pretty plain too. They do comes with two dipping sauces. My friend was a little disappointed. I feel like before the food was better. To me personally. Overall, it was alright but wouldn't come back for more.

Yelp
My second visit. I ordered something different this time and they turned out good! My favorite was the three spiced king oyster mushroom. It goes so well with rice. I don't recommend the simmer pork chop since it's a bit overcooked and tasteless. I believe the fried one will be a lot better. Their stinky tofu is pretty consistent

Tran T.

Yelp
They used to have a wide range of dishes, but currently they just cut down almost 70% of their menu. Most of my favorite dishes like Salted egg yolk shrimp, simmered duck blood and intestine or three spices chicken are gone. The kept dishes are ok, Taiwanese bao is good, so as steamed chicken leg with scallion sauce. The reason I give them 3 stars is that the PORTION is getting SMALLER !! I ordered my all time fave : Satay hotpot and Spicy beef hotpot. There were no crab stick, no vermicelli, no fishcake, just 2-3 mushrooms, cabbage, 2 pieces of tofu, less meat, even though I ordered extra meat for $4.25. My hotpot came with mostly soup. The hotpot I had before was filled with full of toppings , but now it was mostly just soup and the stuffs above. Probably will comeback for the buns but will not be a regular customer as before.

Yelp
Skip the pork chop bento. Meat tasted stale, flavorless, and tough. The side dishes also were a bit of let down. No fresh vegetables as shown in the photo and also had no taste. Even the rice tasted hard and from overnight. Seems like everything on the menu are costing more yet food quantity went downhill. Will not recommend or return.

amro h.

Yelp
The food is hands down amazing. The service was considerate and tentative to the needs of diners. The ambiance could have been better, but when going to a spot like this, food is king.

Ellie W.

Yelp
After I wrote my previous review, I came here a few times as they started making stinky tofu, which is rare in this area. I have noticed that they have improved their service and their food in general during these years. Currently, they also sell bubble tea under Yi-Fang brand name. They sell more Taiwanese street food such as stinky tofu, pig blood cake, Taiwanese pop corn chicken etc. During the most recent visit, I noticed that they also had chicken rice. I asked if it was Chia-Yi chicken rice, and the waiter said yes. However, when it came, it wasn't. I was disappointed. The chicken rice was so sweet that I could barely eat. While the food has been improved in general, I need to take down one star for the chicken rice. However, I like other items that tasted as authentic Taiwanese cuisine, especially butterfly pork. The restaurant also went through a renovation, so it's more spacious though the actual square footage is the same.

Tony J.

Yelp
Small-ish Taiwanese restaurant on the side of the 99 Ranch Market in Edmonds. It's co-located with a Yi Fang fruit tea shop, and it's much easier to spot the Yi Fang sign. Was doing okay business for Sunday lunch. We got the Taiwanese pork burger, the popcorn chicken, fried pork chop, and the satay beef hotpot. The popcorn chicken and pork chop are both fried, and both were decent in that they tasted as expected. The pork "burger" is a piece of seasoned pork belly with some peanuts wrapped by a piece of the white Chinese style rice bun. The peanut is actually a good compliment for the extra crunchy texture. The hotpot comes on its own small butane stove. It has a few pieces of beef, fish balls, mushroom and napa. Extra satay sauce is on the side. Tasted decent. We were pretty full after finishing everything. Bill was $54 including tax and tip, which is quite reasonable.

Eugene L.

Yelp
Had fried pork chop bento. It had 3 other side (tofu, cucumber salad and lettuce shrimp cold salad) that I could enjoy together. Price was not that expensive assuming it was bento meal. Definitley will return to have next try :D

Millie W.

Yelp
A friend was on the search for Taiwanese food around Seattle or the Greater Seattle area and recommended Looking for Chai. A group of us went and those who didn't read prior reviews, wouldn't have known it was inside a Yi-Fang. It was a bit confusing because the sign for 'Looking for Chai' was tiny compared to Yi-Fang. Naturally, I got a boba along with my food. The boba itself was not really consistent with other Yi-Fang's I've been to. I got the Earl Grey Milk Tea and this one was a bit watered down. I got the Taiwanese hotpot and it's a hotpot, nothing overly special. It was good. We got some appetizers to share for the table - popcorn chicken, stinky tofu, and oyster pancakes. The oyster pancake was a bit disappointing since it was goopy versus crispy, which is what we're used to. I wouldn't drive all the way to Edmonds to go to this restaurant but if I'm in the neighbourhood, I'll stop in and try it out again.

Roxanna Z.

Yelp
The menu is different now and they have moved toward bento meals and snacks. The quality of the bento boxes are alright- note that if you ask for something spicy you just get a bunch cayenne pepper on it. Lol oh, and they sell stinky tofu. One more place that does the fried version for all you stinky tofu lovers. The best part for me... you can now get Yifang tea with your food. Good BBT and snacks in one spot is just so convenient. Not sure if we will get the bento box again but will continue to get snacks like the popcorn chicken and stinky tofu with Yifang tea.

Ocean O.

Yelp
Fantastic price, large portions, great environment, quick and kind service. Very pleased with our trip.

Thomas Z.

Yelp
Ordered sizzling chicken platter(black pepper), fried pork chops, stinky tofu hot py, and bitter melon stir fry. Its good but the stinky hot pot was very disappointing, you can do better pretty much anywhere else. Black pepper chicken was memorable. There are a lot of restaurants at this level (low 4 star or high 3 star level) so most of the time the decision to come here is due to needing to shop nearby, proximity, convenience, etc. And not due to taste.

Frank P.

Yelp
I loved the food! The fried squid balls were very tasty. I had the spicy crispy chicken also.

Doris W.

Yelp
I have now been here twice and can say they are a pretty good Taiwanese restaurant! The first time I came by here was with my aunt and uncle, and they love the hot pot here. Then this week, we swung in here for dinner with my mom and she enjoyed the food! Some of my favorite things: - stinky tofu - chocolate milk tea boba - popcorn chicken - oyster pancake - popcorn chicken in a spicy sauce My mom was so excited for Taiwanese food the other day, she practically ordered the whole menu lol. There were some dishes I would have avoided, like the bitter melon dish, and the pork and green veggie dish, but they were all good. This meal definitely made me feel bloated afterwards, but it was tasty when we had it!

Johanna V.

Yelp
First try in Sizzling Pork Chop and Taiwanese Spicy Beef Hot Pot. These food was delicious. Recommend it. I will come back again

Kathy X.

Yelp
I believe the bento boxes are new during this quarantine and I love them! I hope they're here to stay, love the variety of veggies, eggs, a bit of minced pork on top of the white rice and the deliciously fried popcorn chicken. Although everything is pretty good it's not anything superrr special, so they get a 4/5 for me! Good place when I'm craving Asian food!

Linsey C.

Yelp
We ordered popcorn chicken bento, fried noodle, stinky tofu and fried cutterfish balls! They are fast and delicious. The service was great. They are with Yi Fang so if you want drink, you can order with them as well.

Yu S.

Yelp
Oolong tea - I was surprised to get it in a coffee cup like this. I'm not complaining though. Taiwanese lettuce - Eeehh? Stir fry garlic lettuce is a very simple and very common dish. What's the justification in calling this Taiwanese lettuce (lol), unless this lettuce is imported from Taiwan? Oh, maybe it is. "A cai" or something? Delicious as usual. Pork blood and intestine soup - I always love pork blood and intestines. The soup is mediocre though. And while pork blood does need to be controlled, I thought the overall sourness of this soup and veggies was overpowering. Oyster pancake - Not a bad flavor, but there are only a couple oysters, and you can barely taste them. I taste egg, dough, and sauce. Um....hmmm, similar to the soup, I don't like that this dish tries so hard to completely cover up the meat in question. In my universe, umami exists to be improved, to become the best version of itself, not buried. I'm not even a big oyster guy. Steak - The gravy, mushrooms, and egg are all nice, but the steak itself was kinda lower quality. It wasn't very tender and had a ton of gristle. I actually enjoy eating the fat too, but this gristle was absurdly tough, and I didn't have my chainsaw with me. A strong 3 stars or weak 4 stars.

Andrew N.

Yelp
Went here for dinner got the pork chop bento.everything was amazing waiters were nice

Yc T.

Yelp
I miss this place! Still love the sour cabbage hot pot. Now they have stinking tofu on the menu and it's just as I remember back in Taiwan. Great food. Great service. I especially love the home made hot sauce they have... its FANTASTIC! I'm now living in Issaquah but drove an hour to eat here.

Ruiqi W.

Yelp
I recently discovered Looking For Chai and I'm already a frequent visitor! The portion sizes are great and the popcorn chicken is delicious. My favorite dish is the pineapple shrimp - it's cooked perfectly! The fried rice is also really good. The price is great and you can also get authentic boba here. Highly recommend!

Jarred H.

Yelp
Must Tries: Taiwanese Pork Burger, Sakura Shrimp Fried Rice, Honey Chicken Wings, and Beef Mini Hot Pot Insta: Jarred.Goods I have been coming here for years and cant believe it has taken me this long to write my review. Looking for Chai is one of the best Taiwanese places here in Washington. I have come back time and time again to try the new items on their menu and revisit their greatest hits. The Taiwanese pork burger and wings are a great way to start your meal. The sauce on the wings is so sweet and thicc really heightening the dish. The mini hot pots are a great option if you are not doing family style but to get the best experience get a group of four and head over to this place to try out the fried rice, wings, pork belly over rice, and all of the other great dishes here.

Beezy S.

Yelp
I only come here for the popcorn chicken because no one else adds the fried basil leaves. Delicious, mouth watering road trip snack. Crispy, juicy, and tender where it counts!

Jessica C.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery and it came in decent time but the food was not as good a so remember. I think maybe chef changed? The pork chop bento was meh. The pork chop was super salt and peppery even though I didn't order extra salt and pepper. Pieces of it felt pretty fatty. The rice tasted a bit stale and not soft and sticky. The side dishes used to be tomato egg and like corn or something. Now it's bad crunchy green beans and a pickled cabbage. The popcorn chicken was okish but some pieces didn't taste fresh. Was a bit disappointed since I used to love this place. Maybe pandemic impact?

Le T.

Yelp
Friendly and fast service. Food is expensive in the area. I ordered Taiwanese beef noodle soup and it was $15 somthing after tax. The soup was packed well. I like the side pickle that came with it. Noodle soup was good but I had same thing at many other places.

Lillian L.

Yelp
They have been opened for a month now after the remodel & revamping the menu. They now offer dine-in and I love the new decor. It's very clean looking and reminds me of the aesthetic of hip/trendy restaurants have in Taiwan. I miss some items from the old menu but I gotta say, there is definitely some ease with ordering on the new menu because these lunch boxes are awesome. I love that they include most of the entrees they used to have but portioned out for individual instead of family style. However, the portions are actually pretty fair! My husband gets full off of the bento boxes and he can put away quite a bit of food. I like that they offer street food style appetizers. In my opinion, the popcorn chicken should have a little more spice and crispness, or offer different levels of spicy. My favorite bento box is between the fried chicken steak and the crispy chicken in spicy sauce. I love that they separate the sauce so the chicken doesn't get soggy. Oh and I was very pleasantly surprised to see they merged with Yifang Fruit Tea and that they offer brown sugar oolong latte any time of the day. I do miss the cookie milk tea but this merger makes their drink menu more extensive.

Vy M.

Yelp
What they lack in service, they make up for in their food and drinks. Most Chinese restaurants that have bad service usually has good food, so maybe next time I'll just get takeout. We of course had to get the infamous chocolate cookie milk tea, however, we came in about 45 minutes before closing so they had to give us our drinks in a Togo cup (means no good pictures). I tried the Taiwanese hot pot and the burger, while my friends ordered some other type of hot pot. I wouldn't recommend coming here for hot pot since boiling point is pretty close by, but their hot pot was good nevertheless. Definitely coming back (maybe just for takeout) to try their other menu items!

Colten S.

Yelp
Hard place to find but their fried chicken steak is so good as well as their water spinach

Douglas T.

Yelp
I'm a food delivery guy I have delivered this restaurants food and finally tried it what a surprise. I had the popcorn chicken bento abosulty delicious I can't wait ti go back thank you for great food and service

Nate C.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. But guessing there was a change in ownership recently that led to Yifang leaving this location and them trimming the menu down - lead to my favorite drink and dishes being cut from the menu. Food is now soso , not as good as before. Will not be returning in the future

Diana N.

Yelp
We've dined here several times before and it's one of our favorite places. They're pretty busy most of the time due to their expansive bubble tea and specialty drinks menu. We don't venture out of our fave dishes often, but we do try to order their specials if it sounds good. Our fave items to order are: taiwanese noodles - flavors are always on point, noodles have the perfect texture. morning glory spinach & beef combo - comes with rice and 2 sides (corn & tomato braised scrambled eggs) - love this asian greens and beef stirfry. garlicky and delicious. i also really love the tomato eggs. they're sweet and savory and just amazing. def rec ordering it. braised chicken leg bowl - comes with thigh and leg as well as pickled mustard greens. incredible flavors, super comforting dish. special - homestyle braised egg tofu w/ veggies - this was a special they had when we were there and OMG it was incredible. the tofu was amazing and the sauce was out of this world. sorry i dont have any descriptive culinary words to use. if you ever see any of these words in a special, just order it! *do not order the crispy milk fish UNLESS you're familiar with it's taste* - it's fatty and super fishy. we were NOT fans. overall, please come here and eat bc it's so damn good. im literally drooling just writing this review and contemplating ordering takeout. =D i've never had their drinks, but my nieces always orders them here. just come here already

Thao N.

Yelp
The name of this restaurant made me think that we were going on a scavenger hunt looking for a tall, dark, and handsome guy named Chai. Disappointed, I never found Chai here, but I did find good Taiwanese food and many drinks that has black balls in it. Their special drink that is in everybody's photo and Instagram's feed is the chocolate cookie milk tea. I don't know what tea it was, but it's topped with Oreo cookie crumples with a tiny leaf which is super cute because it looks like a plant is growing out of soil. Right below it is a layer of sea salt cream, it's super yummy to slip on it because it adds a nice contrast to the sweet tea. And who can forget the black balls that I think has an actual name called Tapioca, it's the funnest thing to suck out of the oversize straw. The menu is super cute, it's attached to this wooden board that looks like you can spank someone with it if they fuck up your order...or for other reasons. The beef stew noodle soup tasted exactly the same as Din Tai Fung's beef stew noodle soup except you get more than 2 small pieces of meat and you don't have to choose between bok choy or noodles, you get both here! The highlights of this restaurant has to be their bathroom signs, it's very obvious what's the male and female bathrooms, very informational picture so you don't get confused which one to go to. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Yelp
I love when restaurants do more traditional homestyle dishes, and Looking for Chai goes beyond my expectation by also adding a cute café ambience to their restaurant. I've been here many times, and never had to wait to be seated, especially during the afternoon. All of the staff are super friendly and energetic, which makes the experience all the merrier. Price is a bit on the higher end of the spectrum, but considering how authentic their dishes are, it is absolutely worth it in my book. Their menu is simple, with quite a broad variety of dishes, whether you want to just have boba and some snacks or a complete dinner - they have it all! Some of my personal favorites include the braised beef noodle soup (super tender & flavorful), chicken wings, their sizzling plates and pork stir-fry w/ peppers. Honestly, I've tried an array of dishes and so far, I've enjoyed them all. And of course, you must get their chocolate cookie milk tea (w/ boba!!) which is served with a sprig of mint and cookie crumbles that imitate a small pot plant. Totally adorable and insta-worthy!

Yelp
Bf and I were on the way to Vancouver and stopped by this restaurant for lunch. A friend recommended it and since I love Taiwanese food we went for it. Love that they do personal hot pots here because I don't eat meat and I hate restricting my bf to what I can eat. With these personal hot pots, I got to order a seafood and vegetable (tomato) one and he got to order one with beef and we got to live the best of both worlds :) I was very impressed with the hot pot especially with the portions and quality of ingredients. The other hot pot places we used to go to back in Houston had a few pieces of seafood and the rest would simply be just cabbage. The portion was perfect here and their satay sauce made everything even better. Knocked one star off because they seem to highlight that they sell drinks here and the milk tea with boba I got was pretty bad. Milk tea was very bland and the boba wasn't even that chewy or has any flavor. Didn't try anything else on the drink menu so can't speak for anything else. Food def outweighs the drinks here

Yelp
We decided on Taiwanese food for dinner and wanted to experience the buzz around this place. Kind of small place, about 10 tables. Wait times exceed 20 min during weekends. Staff was super busy but did everything they could to open up tables and keep the wait times down. You will also notice that the menu on the board lists teas in Mandarin first and then in English (small type font)...hint hint their majority patrons are Asian. Ordered the popcorn chicken, sliced lamb with Taiwanese satay sauce and cold noodles with shredded chicken in sesame paste. Popcorn chicken was super hot and perfect. Crisp and juicy...highly recommend. Lamb dish had very less lamb and extreme amount of greens. Essentially it felt like we ordered a greens dish with lamb topping...plus very salty too. I would not recommend this one. Cold noodles was an absolute disaster. Cheap noodles with very less sesame paste, super lumpy. Shredded chicken looked like it came from a can. Totally disappointed! 3 stars primarily for the service which was excellent for the most part except when they missed one of the items that we ordered. I would suggest sticking to the script: other Yelper recommendations (think pork and hot pot) for a richer food experience.

Yelp
First time here! It's quite good! Once again I like to try out the restaurants surrounding ranch 69:) this location is share with Yi fang so you can get some drinks and also grab a bite to eat! It's a very generous portion that we have some to-go leftovers for home! I order the fried chicken bento box, it was delicious but only complaint is idk what that yellow thing mix with red sauce is. Egg? I don't know but it taste like shet. Other than that the chicken was delish and it comes with this special sauce that I dip it in at the bottom. The salad just taste like your typical lettuce and it was warm, although I'm expecting it to be cold. But overall it was good. I'll definitely order something else off the menu if im to go back in the future. We also order the mini hot pot and the presentation is nice and quite cute. And noodles! The foods come really quick and the service was good! I'll give it another try sometime. Also the Yi fang was quite bussin as always!

Yelp
Who is Chai and what is he looking for? Or, should I ask who is looking for him? I've always wondered about the name of this restaurant but too distracted by the yummy food to ask! Now more confusing is the sign outside that says Yifang Tea. They still serve food but the menu misses a lot of the old favorites. This used to be my go to place for honey milk tea and food. Now they've partnered with Yifang and focus more on drinks. I tried the mango pomelo sago and and it was delish! But I'm also a sucker for mango anything. First time I had this type of drink (almost a dessert) was in San Fran and I haven't been able to find anything comparable in the Seattle area. Yay Looking for Chai for nailing this one!!! (But please bring back the old menu?)
