Yelp
Hostess stand is located at the opposite end of the pub away from the parking garage. Restaurant seemed rather warm no little or no AC. We were seated directly under a vent. Beer was cold at proper temperature. Server was attentive and food was served as ordered and at the proper temperature.

Yelp
I was staying at THE HOTEL at UMD and stumbled across Looneys Pub when we were walking the campus for some food spots. Expected this to be a small bar but it is much bigger inside and lots of room at the bar area to sit and order food. I ordered the OC bucket and it is quite good and deadly my partner ordered Guinness which was actually pretty creamy compared to other bars. For food we got the hot buffalo wings and chicken tenders with fries. Overall very good bar in the area if you're looking for a quick bite and want to hang around locals and college kids since it's a sports bar. We came back twice in 1 weekend so it's a classic spot with good service! I would sit at the bar to get the most attention from bartenders!

Christopher S.

Yelp
Awesome spot near the UMD campus. Lots of food options (wings, apps, burgers, quesadillas, cheesesteaks, etc) and even more drink options (classic items and also some fun shots). Tons of TVs so a great place for sports-watching. Service is friendly and attentive (lots of student workers). Great bar.

Yelp
This is a "I should've eaten MORE before I came" review for the most part so here we go ... my counterpart wanted to watch his favorite team play so we came here. I made dinner before I left but I know once drinks are involved I'm going to want to nibble too. The menu was very enticing and looking at the food that was coming to be delivered, I opted to do the Taster Wings ($1 more for 3 flavors). Here is my order and ratings for each: 1.Murphy McGee - 4 stars; FLAVORFUL! 2.Honey Old Bay - 1 star; Lacked old bay seasoning and the honey was at the bottom of the tray 3.Jerk - 1 star; didn't give me jerk flavor AT ALL! My rating for 3 stars is for the Murphy McGee wings alone! My counterpart and I looked at each other and said "we were better off not ordering anything at all" and I strongly agreed. I mean it's wings and the flavor component lacked ... that's crazy! Oh and the french fries ... horrible and I'm a french fry lover! Otherwise, the drinks and atmosphere was on point. I wish my server would have notified us at the beginning of service that if you pay by cash gratuity WILL NOT BE INCLUDED but if you pay with a card, gratuity is AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED. Where is the signage? Not to mention Yelp offers 10% off for checking in on the app and my server and manager knew nothing about it. What a shame. I will give them another try even if it's for beer, booze, and sports!

Yelp
First time I have been to this one in college park. We were seated fast, and the order was taken. Fast food came out in a timely manner. My burger was good. I only ate half, so it was definitely full filling. The place was nice and friendly, it was cold they had all the ceiling fans on so or made my food fold fast didn't like that. The ladies' restroom felt like an ice box freezer, so that wasn't great either. But overall, we enjoyed the quick bite.

Bronson I.

Yelp
$20 for basically a less seasoned Chipotle bowl, with less food than you get just going there instead. The bar is large, but without adequate servers you'll end up waiting longer for everything. Parking situation is inconvenient at best. Can't recommend eating the food here.

Yelp
We came to Looney's while at College Park for a soccer tournament. Looney's sits right off of campus on the main road through College Park. The bar area is really nice and spacious, with lots of different sized TV's to catch a game. We had pork nachos to start. My wife had a shrimp fajita wrap, I had the rockfish tacos, my son had buffalo wings, and the other two members of our group had chicken quesadillas. Everything was pretty good and our server was awesome.

Yelp
Looney's is a College Park staple for the area. I have gone ever since I was in college... but now it's mainly homecoming or a spontaneous decision. Their happy hour features beers, rails, orange crushes (which are admittedly too sweet for me now), and various food items. I appreciate how an Irish pub adds some jerk items on their menu -- it's nothing close to the quality of jerk you get at authentic Caribbean restaurants, but I respect it because it doesn't taste bad at all. Another reason I don't go here as much is because the college kids roll in deep -- it's on the base of The View, so you see a lot of them even in the summertime. So I have to roll with my own crew haha, but it's fine regardless. I can count the times I have gone the place is quiet... there are always a lot of people there! The perk is that there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so the crowds are manageable. With events like trivia and karaoke, you can't blame them for being busy! Some of my favorite food items are the honey old bay wings, the chicken cheesesteak, and sweet potato fries -- yum! If you've never been, I recommend swinging by!

Mike B.

Yelp
This is a really big space with a lot of TVs. It's a great place to watch a game. Great atmosphere. Food was ok. Parking may be an issue. So give yourself plenty of time to find a space.

Kim J.

Yelp
After all these years and even living down the street for a few years, I've never been to Looney's Pub. Stopped by on Sunday evening to meet up with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. They have great deals every day of the week. Sunday is $5 crushes and I tried the Looney Crush and it was delicious. I love that you can get different wing flavors for $1 more. I was hesitant about the Yardbird flavor. The server strongly recommended it and I decided to bite. It was absolutely delicious and had me licking my fingers. I'm already planning on when I can go back and get more!

Yelp
Game Day - Go Terps! No better place near campus to pre game. Gets really packed with rabid fans. Good time for all.

Allegra A.

Yelp
Not sure why there are so many bad reviews, this place has been consistently good for a long time. I used to come here during college and whenever I am back in College Park we make it a point to stop here. Excellent crab dip!! Highly recommend the crab pretzel, chicken Chesapeake sandwich and the crabby melt. The fries are perfectly crispy too. A little pricier than standard bar food, but the quality is higher in my opinion. Drinks are okay but nothing special. The reason for only 4/5 stars is sometimes service can be disorganized and slow. Expect this on game days.

Samuel A.

Yelp
Menu has changed a bit over the years, but the quality of food hasn't. Another fantastic burger at looneys - would have opted for that crabby patty but that is for a totally different level of hunger. Honey old bay wings & yardbird wings are some of the best wings I've ever had.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
The shrimp tacos are bomb.com. The Irish corned beef and hash or whatever it was is absolutely trash, go for the tacos, avoid everything else

Chelsea A.

Yelp
Coming here was like a blast from the past because it's been a minute since a seen a place filled with people with BACKPACKS on. Looneys is close to a college soo coming here made me feel old as I saw girls with matching outfits on with their roomie. Nonetheless, great environment to watch a game and get some food. Also some solid drink specials and ample parking. Please pay for your parking because they will tow. Place is huge but still fills up so keep that in mind. Overall a great visit. Oh also- when you like check in using Yelp it popped up this 10 percent off thing BUT the manager explained that there's been no recent communication with Yelp regarding this discount sooo don't be surprised if this isn't honored. Also Yelp you should reach out!

CC L.

Yelp
Kyle is the best bartender I have ever had. He is busy yet makes time for his customers. He makes you feel valued when you are at your lowest or highest. The rest of the staff is just as phenomenal-- shoutout monica. Live Laugh Love Looneys

David T.

Yelp
The bouncer literally said "you'd be better off with a horizontal fake than a vertical real id". They'd rather except minors than those who haven't gotten their new IDs in th mail. My id has my birthday and isn't expired yet. Shows I'm 21. Never go to this b

Taylor K.

Yelp
Love Looneys. Their crush buckets are so good and they have amazing bar food. The crab pretzel, crab grilled cheese, and crab fries are so good

Yelp
Review from 2017. Classic college American pub. It is located at the base of the Varsity apartments. It can get really busy in the evenings. When I went with a group of 4 friends it was semi-busy. They have a good number of tables indoors and of course the bar area. There are a few TVs scattered throughout indoors if you wanted to eat/drink and catch a game. They have certain deals/discounts during UMD away games. But I have not come during those times to speak on that. Anywho when we came we got a table outdoors. Waitress took care of us ok. She came to check on us sporadically but we had to flag her down to get the check. Food came out relatively quickly. They specials on certain days for students and the special when we came on a Thursday was a philly cheesesteak and fries for just around $6 I believe. Taste-wise it is nothing special for it is a good value for the price in my opinion. Also got a beer since it was still kind of early in the day. But we did come during happy hour and the waitress didn't give me the happy hour discount. Didn't find out until later when I took a closer look at the receipt. But oh well, didn't think it was worth the hassle to ask for a refund. But just be sure to check your receipt amounts before you leave.

Yelp
The Pub was excellent with great food, generous portions and great service. Fun sports bar atmosphere near college campus. We had great selections. Loved cream of crab soup, onion rings, and shrimp basket. Nice spices. Waitresses were fast, helpful and responsive.

Valpo B.

Yelp
Great vibes. good food. good service. great drinks. hostess alayna was so kind to our table!! made sure we got the table we wanted and followed our specific directions!!

Jason W.

Yelp
Customer service - 3 out of 5 Wait time - 3 out of 5 Atmosphere - 3 out of 5 Cleanliness - 4 out of 5 Food quality - 3.5 out of 5 Although I'm giving this specific location a fairly low rating, it can definitely be upgraded with some minor adjustments. Staff was friendly, but our issue was that they barely came to our table and the restaurant wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. Our drinks were never refilled and the salad I ordered as an appetizer came out with the main entrees. We were sat immediately upon entering the restaurant so no issues there, but the wait time on our food was unpleasant. This location is definitely not family oriented which we were not aware of. The location near our house has a better layout, the bar and dining room are separated by a wall. The College Park location is just a full out bar across the entire restaurant. Seating was extremely uncomfortable due to the high chairs/bar stools and high tables. Music was extremely loud and our table had trouble hearing each other. Place was fairly clean which was nice. The Greek Salad I ordered was decent. I paid an additional $6 for chicken, but I wish I hadn't done so. The breast was very small and not worth the additional cost. With a score of 16.5 out of 25 stars, I give this location a D rating, but that will not stop me from going to the location near my house which is a much better experience.

Miryam A.

Yelp
Fun to watch games and great bar food. Typical college bar service. Make sure you pay parking bc they tow often.

Nicki M.

Yelp
The food was really good and you get a lot of food for the reasonable price you pay. The atmosphere was pleasant and the customer service was great.

Olivia A.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Looneys! Cole at security was super funny and helpful! 10/10 and Meg was an amazing bartender. Anticipated needs and super hospitable. Thanks Looneys!!

Carole V.

Yelp
The food is surprisingly good! I love the crab cakes and the wing sampler is a good choice as well. I live in DC, but I make the effort to go here because my friend goes to UMD and we both love playing trivia here on Wednesdays.

Gerald H.

Yelp
Stopped here after a UMD WBB game on an NFL Sunday expecting it to be very crowded. There were several tables and I wouldn't say it was dead but I was told usually you can't move there- so that was good. Ordered a diet and the table shared a crab pretzel. We shared mozzarella moons - deep fried cheese sticks in half circle form. The crab pretzel was very BIG and really good - plenty of crab dip on top and melted cheese - I would recommend this as a MUST HAVE item if you stop here. The mozzarella moons were also good - decent breading on them and very good. For my entree I ordered the Looney's chicken sandwich - which is a grilled chicken breast with choice of wing sauce. Came with fries. Fries were good. I ordered the honey old bay sauce which was good in its own right - HOWEVER - the chicken itself was pretty much inedible. Dry and hard - way overcooked and crunchy along with being dry this was really bad. I tried using the extra sauce and ranch (menu called for bleu cheese) but this was rough. It seemed like our waitress was running wind sprints between tables in a large area of about 20 tables - so the service was ok but understandable. Would come back - maybe next time I will take more pics.

Yelp
If coupons are going to be presented for use through Yelp sponsored by the restaurant (Looneys, feel free to reply if Yelp creates these without your permission)--when we come to Looneys it should at the very least be honored.... Came here for dinner with a group and they refused to accept the 10% discount noting "we're not doing this tonight". We ordered plenty of drinks and food and have been longtime patrons having had the large group of alumni who had been coming here over the years. The food was below par, and the drinks/crushes were decent. But this was the most notable thing to comment on.

Dinky F.

Yelp
service was horrible. My food came out cold . They was so rude. Talking over my food . I never touch my order and they still made me pay for it . Telling me that the kitchen was closing. So that means that you can just serve me and my Family old food that has been sitting in the Back !!!!!!

Lorin S.

Yelp
Walked in while waiting for the baseball tourney games on a Friday afternoon (group of 3). Took 12 mins to be seated. Then another 10 mins to get drinks. We ordered everything at once since we were being ignored due to a larger than normal table next to us. Drinks were ok, I was the only one ordering cocktails. The food was just average, main food was hot but tasteless. The fries were cold. Ok atmosphere to drink but nothing special. A good after game spot to party if that's what you want.

Gary B.

Yelp
Maryland crab soup was great. The college bar atmosphere here is pretty neat. Outdoor seating is also available.

Erika S.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times with some undergrad aged friends of mine, and I expected your typical frat boy bar. But I was pleasantly SLIGHTLY surprised, the drinks were not watered down but very generous on the alcohol, thank God my friend had an apartment in the area lol. Together we got the CJ Slammer and Washington Apple Shooter, Key Lime Drink, Fried Pickles, Crab Dip with celery, carrots, and bread, mozzarella bites. The mozzarella bites and fried pickles were very dry and overcooked, but overall not a bad place to get a drink. The parking is a little cray and it's super loud, but you have to expect that because it's a college sports bar. Waitresses are typically pretty nice. Give it a try for the drinks, that won't disappoint!

Chet M.

Yelp
Nice place. Tons of TVs, good service. Food was normal bar stuff. Lots of college kids seem to come here.

Brandon K.

Yelp
Came here as a pregame with friends when I visited. The place was crowded and we had to wait for a table which was a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. There was a game going on, so the atmosphere was rowdy, but it's a college bar during a college game so it's nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't have any food, but the drinks here were decent (had a few crush buckets) and the happy hour prices for rail shots and crush buckets were good. I'd definitely come again for a simple pregame. Quick tip for those of you complaining about a 20% tip - don't go out if you're broke.

Rylee P.

Yelp
The server was very kind. I got the Alex watermelon crush drink and I loved it so much!! The drink was very flavorful and my friend said she really liked her Jolly Rancher drink. I also got some fries and they were just fries, not too bad, but not too good either- literally what you would expect from a pub. Had a great time while there.

Paul O.

Yelp
The looney burger was delicious.: overall prices are reasonable especially with everything being so expensive.

Shannon M.

Yelp
We eat at Looney's pretty often because the food is good, especially the honey Old Bay wings. We tried the Tokyo Tea and it was absolutely subpar. It did not taste anything like any Tokyo Tea I've ever had before and had a disgusting after taste. I only took one sip and left the rest. The manager would not take it off the bill or replace it with another drink. This was the first time I've ever been disappointed at Looney's.

Tenaj S.

Yelp
Great happy hour prices. We were there at an odd time, so they were not very busy. A fun little place on the corner of the University.

Kevin Y.

Yelp
I have to say, after finding this place down from the Hampton up the street, It was a door on the side of a building with signs around it- wasn't sure what I was going into. Go in the door, and its a great pub/sports bar!! Loved the atmosphere, many many TVS and games going, good size bar, good beer selection what I learned, great food. I started with a local IPA and from the reviews- ordered the crab pretzel. I already had my mind set for that as a starter, so didn't even read the menu, ordered it with my beer. Holy Cow! This was huge. It was quite rich, great crab dip and perfect pretzel- but order for 3 or 4. I ate maybe one corner and filled up quick so shard it with the guys next to me. It as really good! I then got the ahi tuna as I was really craving sushi or at least some tuna. It was just what I wanted. Put some sriracha on it an it was perfect rare and seared with some good hot pepper. On greens I mixed up with more hot sauce, was really what I wanted. Great service at the bar, good beer, good food- saw many good things around the bar and people were happy so trust this is a favorite. Will be back when in area. Love these secret hide away places.

Jordan H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that has great food & drinks for a decent price, this is the place for you! It's definitely a college hang out-ish kind of place, but a great environment all and all. The service is great! There's happy hour everyday from 2-7 and the prices are unbeatable. The menu is HUGE, you're bound to find something you like/love.

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Wow. These are some of the best wings I've ever had. The buffalo weren't anything special, but the hot wings had a nice saucy pepper hot flavor. The kind that makes your mouth burn, but you're not hallucinating. The wings had the right amount of crisp and were juicy. 9.5/10 on the hot wings. 6/10 on the buffalo. Service was super fast and the beers were cheap. Amazing place, glad we tried it.

Pamela H.

Yelp
What a fun place and the staff were awesome. Typical college town sports bar feel; lots of TVs airing sports, with University of Maryland memorabilia adorning the walls. My husband and I met our son there the other day for dinner and we sat at one of the many high top tables. Great happy hour deals. We ordered a pitcher of Yingling and a dozen wings (half jerk and half old bay) for $17. The wings were delicious and the beer was cold. They even gave us frosted glasses. We never ordered a "real" meal because the happy hour bar food menu was too tempting. Next we ordered the pulled pork nachos with guacamole. Again, delicious! I have been to their Fulton location many times. I definately enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere much better at the College Park location. Only downside is the limited parking. There is reasonably priced metered parking but space is limited. We got there at 4pm on a Wednesday and there were a good number of spaces, but when we left at 6pm, cars were circling the lot waiting for us to free up a space.

Stephen F.

Yelp
server was bad ash but wasn't feelin us. food was fire but damn, my man's threw a whole oop n everything she still ain't bout it. also, the other server had to be gay or sum shit. don't get it twisted tho, foods gasssssss.

Myles F.

Yelp
@Stephen F. shortys mine tf, and u fumbled that oop. food was gas tho, u right. 1 star sum wild shi tho, jawnt was a fine establishment with even finer workers, as Jason Derulo once said "that booty like 2 planets". food gasss

Yelp
I wandered into this place not really knowing what to expect. It's full of college kids, but they weren't rowdy college kids. They were just college kids who couldn't sing karaoke to save their lives. But that's refreshing - I've never been able to sing karaoke, and nowadays, all the places that do karaoke are full of semi-professionals. It's great to be in a place where you don't have to worry about following the best singer in the place - you can just be your crazy "non-singing, don't care what anyone else thinks about you" in this place, and I LOVE it for that! There's no stage for the karaoke, instead the singers just stand in the common dance floor area with a microphone and belt out their favorite tunes. I LOVE it! It was a busy, hopping Wednesday night when I visited - remember college kids start partying early in the week. They have plenty of food options to choose from - crab cakes, crab club on a pretzel, crab grilled cheese sammich, 5 or 6 salads, wraps, fajitas, cheese steak sandwich, burgers, and so much more. If you can't find something to eat in this joint, you have major issues my friends. They have 19 beers on tap and lots of other canned/bottled beers, and some wine too. Full bar, with specialty mixed drinks. Really, this place was full of college kids, but they were all so nice and friendly to this old dude, that I really enjoyed it. Since my visit, I've been deliberating on starting my own frat. I forgot how much fun this could be. Good service, good prices, good food, good drinks, and a great crowd. Love it, love it!

Yelp
Not sure how I don't already have an in-depth review, since Looney's is probably one of my highest check-in places! Looney's Pub at College Park was our go-to bar. With friendly bartenders, a plethora of drink options, and absolutely amazing food they were always delightful to visit for our regular Tues night trivia, to catch a game on one of the many sports channel tvs, or get in some other random event! But let me focus on the food. Looney's is one of those interesting places where you want to try the entire menu, but then again you love your regular dishes SOO SOO MUCH it's so hard to order something else (even if it will turn out delicious). The food is not greasy bar food; it is homemade, scratch to table, well-cooked deliciousness. The fries are on my top three fries favorite list! My typical go-to dishes are: Crabby Patty -a delicious burger topped with creamy crab meat and cheese. The pack on the toppings so there is usually plenty of dip dripping along the sides to eat with your fries Seafood Quesadilla-hearty..very hearty pieces of shrimp & crab melted with a few blends of cheese inside a large flour tortilla, paired with fresh jalapenos and the best salsa Wings-doesn't matter which sauce you chose the wings are always big, juicy, well-crisped on the outside with moist warm chicken inside Seafood Bay Bridge Club-what an amazing unique dish...a club sandwich layered with shrimp salad, a crabcake, bacon, and veggies. The shrimp salad has a delectable sauce-smothering the bread creating moist bites-the crabcake is hearty with fresh chunks of crab not too much filler-the bacon is always cooked to bacon happiness perfection-and fresh tomato, lettuce, and onions to pair Crab Pretzel-a large pretzel-cooked perfectly (soft pretzels are one of my favorite foods, theirs is beyond yum-azing), then topped with creamy crab meat yes please. Again, I want to explore the entire Looney's menu-I have dabbled in some other dishes, I've never had a bad dish, but man I crave these go-tos so they are my must order! We even most times order two entrees each to have lunch for the next day! This is one of my favorite places to eat in the DMV-whether College Park or Maple Lawn location both are reliable; it's great to bring visitors to MD to show off quality eats.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Of all the College Park bars, Looney's is the only one I can return to without feeling out-of-place or bringing back terrible (read: the best) drunken college memories. It also boasts the best sports bar food, in my opinion. I haven't been in awhile, so I was plesantly surprised to see their extended menu, complete with healthier options beyond salad. I ordered their ahi tuna wrap with the cosabi (cucumber wasabi) sauce on the side. This was ok. I'm a fan of wraps and I'm a fan of ahi tuna, but it just didn't really "go" together for me. Maybe salmon would have worked bettere here - and I'm pretty sure it is an option. That aside, it was a nice large order, plus the fries on the side.

John G.

Yelp
Looney's Pub is a great sports bar directly adjacent to the University of Maryland - College Park campus. It is a very popular place for pregame and postgame drinks and food for Maryland football and basketball games. It's also a true sports bar with dozens to tv's tuned into sporting events all the time. They have a solid and extensive selection of beers, plus some nice beer & wing specials. We have primarily stuck to appetizers and their awesome Old Bay and Honey chicken wings. We will stop by for these wings any time we are near College Park!

Lana M.

Yelp
Good bar for watching sports. Was there for a Maryland basketball game. Service was good but you had to be pushy and loud to get attention. Basis bar menu. Reuben was good!

Cynthia P.

Yelp
I hate the slimy practice of adding a mandatory tip. I missed the sign with this information.
