Guys... I love Loop 9. We've been out to Epic Center many times now and have become fans of The Finch and Vidorra, and we've been to Chicken and Pickle once. but I think Loop 9 might be the overall fave... it really depends on the vibe and food you're going for, sure, but what we've enjoyed about Loop 9 the most is the more casual atmosphere -- order at the counter (full service is available at the bar) -- and how affordable the food is considering the quality.
It's really good barbecue! I've tried the brisket, smoked turkey, the house sausage, and the pork belly burnt ends. All wonderfully flavorful, fresh, and moist. Next time I need to add a single rib to whatever I order for $2, I feel confident it's worth it! They have original and spicy barbecue sauce which are both quite tangy and not too thick.
We also love their potato salad which is very simple but incredibly herbaceous -- there's so much parsley and dill and I wouldn't have it any other way. Their coleslaw is similarly simple but addictive, and their fries are house cut (like McDonald's size/shape) with really great texture. Winnie approved! Actually Winnie approved of everything! Other sides include Mexican corn, borracho beans, and flour tortillas.
Loops 9 also has a full bar, beer, wine, and they do seasonal cocktail specials. Then there's a whole separate little counter and space where they make and sell homemade pies. I mean come on. Key lime, coconut cream, and chocolate cream. Y'all know I'm gluten free so I won't be trying these pies, but I can tell you that the scent is absolutely delicious... smells almost as good as the meat smokers!
