Yelp
We've been here a handful of times now and finally tried their food, so it's time for a review update & upping them an additional star.
Everything from my original review still stands regarding the atmosphere and good selection of beers. Their patio is nice as well.
We recently tried their food which was good, too. The Hubs had the Loowit burger which had a great char-grilled flavor to it. They appear to cook their burgers the "smash" style, though the menu didn't indicate this. The fact that they didn't ask how he wanted it cooked should have been a clue. But it was still quite tasty. The bun appeared to be bigger than that particular burger patty, but it was helpful in containing all the yummy, gooey toppings. I had the Currywurst Bowl, which the menu says is sliced bratwurst served over fries with curry ketchup, though I'm pretty sure the meat was kielbasa and not bratwurst. We're originally from Chicagoland and have eaten many a bratwurst and kielbasa over the past few decades, so if what they serve is a brat, then perhaps it's some local version of the sausage that comes out more kielbasa-like. Either way, the meat was good. What I would highly recommend if you ever order the Currywurst Bowl is to either ask for the curry ketchup on the side or ask them to go easy on using it because mine was nearly smothered in it and was just too much given how strong of a flavor it has (and I love curry and curry ketchup). We also got their Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which were fried to delicious perfection, and it was great that they serve it as a small portion for $4, perfect for a side or for 2 people to share with their meal (rather than the ginormous mound of them that some places give you for 3x the price).
All in all, a nice brewpub to visit!
