Nestled in an industrial corner of Boston's New Market Square, this cozy butcher shop doubles as a charming wine bar, offering a prime selection of quality meats and house-made charcuterie in a welcoming, no-frills setting.
"This is one of my favorite spots in all of Boston, let alone the South End. The Butcher Shop is a cozy neighborhood wine bar, restaurant, and full service butcher inspired by Chef Barbara Lynch's travels throughout France and Italy. It is a tribute to European boucheries with a corner location making it the perfect place to grab a casual glass of wine and charcuterie, or watch the world go by over a longer dining experience. Sitting at the bar is a cozy affair but always brings about great conversation. The food is always amazing with a wine list to match. A butcher is on hand daily in the back of the house where you'll also find refrigerated cases stocked with house-made sausages, hot dogs, foie gras, and cuts of premium local beef, along with fresh dishes to go." - Adam&Co.
"As you probably guessed based on the name, the Butcher Shop specializes in big cuts of marbled meat. But it’s really best used as a wine bar instead of a steakhouse. As good as the meat is, the best things on the menu come from the small plate sections (you pretty much have to start with a charcuterie board). And it’s a small, dark spot that feels more like a date night restaurant than a place where business travelers drink martinis and close deals to buy struggling media companies." - dan secatore
